Jazzholers especcially abhore ACDC, for the same reasons.... "infantile three chord rock, an orangutan could play it"... then you give them a guitar, turn the amp up to 11, and say, lets hear YOU do it if its so easy, and they suck. Its a learned and difficult skill, to control an amp and guitar combination thats so loud and overdriven, and keep it clear and clean like the Young brothers do.
Critics also hate them because of their lyrics. Thats because critics are all writers, not guitar players.
