ZONG ZING are one of London's most charismatic and dynamic dance bands
Zong
Zing is a Congolese expression meaning "All Stars" and that describes
the 9 piece band well.They play uplifting Cavacha dance music, the core
rhythm of Central African music that has given rise to 'Soukous' in the
Democratic Republic of Congo, 'Makosa' ...in Cameroon and 'Coupez
Decallez' in the Ivory Coast. Songs are sung primarily in Lingala.
FISTON
LUSAMBO - ZZ founder - has to be the busiest and one of the finest
guitarists on the block with several great bands to his name. He grew up
near to the founder members of Staff Benda Bilili and would jam with
them as he learnt to play. An occasional member of Taxi Pata Pata led by
Nsimba Foggis he still pays tribute to them with the Taxi Pata Pata
track MAKUMBA Zong Zing style
Frontman MICK DJO (also a TPP
'graduate') - with DJanni - contributes pure showmanship and audience
rapport to ZONG ZING alongside flawless vocals - and when Mick and his
cohorts call on you to dance with them - there's no resisting!
Especially with their secret dance weapon THAT dance!!!!
Band
members have played in the bands of Papa Wemba, Samba Mapangala, Remi
Ongala, Rochereau, Taxi Pata Pata & one was even an X factor
semi-finalist! Now is their chance to shine in their own right!
