the masses dont play guitar, thats the point. Guitarist play guitar, and guitarists are always the people who investigate guitar players and techniques and equipment, and end up furthering the agenda. Guitarist are almost always aware of a much broader range of players than the masses.
I'm not arguing Berry, he was a giant. BUT as far as influential to the musician community, such as it was, nope, he was only one.

You're wrong there too. Beck was already in the YArdbirds in 66, doing all kinds of whacked out stuff with a Mayer Fuzzface and a Dallas Arbiter, before Hendrix even got to London. Hendrix' manager, Chandler, knew the Yardbirds well and its a given that Jimi did NOT have that stuff in America on the chitlin circuit,.. he goes to london and suddenly WHAMMO theres the same stuff on the floor in front of him as Beck.
Its certainly possible altho i'm not saying he did steal it from Beck.
Hendrix is a giant at the top of the list, I'm not arguing that either. BUT he did not come from another planet or from left field. He was influenced by a lot of other guys.

define "metal"
and while you're at it, Clint needs to be annoyed, define "classic rock"
