"The Monkees" were also another band critics passed off as a complete joke (mainly due to their TV show) and "not a real band". "The Monkees" actually had a few decent hits but self-destructed with that terrible movie "Head". Still, 3 of the four bandmates still tour (Micky, Davy and Peter) and seem to do ok.
