Hear Soon: Elton John & Leon Russell, Steve Miller Band, Uriah Heep
The Union is the title of the collaboration between Elton John and Leon Russell, who, prior to recording this album, last performed together in 1970. Songs on the album were written by various combinations of Russell, John (and his longtime songwriting parter Bernie Taupin) and T Bone Burnett, who produced the album. U.S. release date is October 19. The first single from the album, "If It Wasn't For Bad" is currently available as an MP3 download.
Steve Miller Band's 1976 classic, Fly Like An Eagle is being spruced up and reissued (10/12/10) with some "bonus" extras. Three demo recordings will be added to the 12 original tracks. Also in the package, a concert DVD, recorded in 2005 at Shoreline Amphitheater near San Francisco, with guest appearances by George Thorogood and Joe Satriani.
What makes a bootleg an "official" bootleg? In announcing their latest live CD, Uriah Heep explain, "These recordings are true official bootlegs in every sense and they reflect that night's performance as it happened, totally untouched." The performance on Official Bootleg Volume II - Live In Budapest, Hungary 2010 is the second in what the band promises will be an ongoing series of "raw" concert recordings. Release date TBA.
