A t-shirt currently being sold by Gap — the American clothing and accessories retailer based in San Francisco, California — bears more than a passing resemblance to the cover artwork of the classic JUDAS PRIEST album "Screaming For Vengeance".

Guitarist Bill Kelliher of Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON was the first to point out the similarities between the two designs, writing on his Instagram feed, "Leave it to the Gap to steal ideas for kid T-shirts. Seriously poor taste."

The Gap design and the "Screaming For Vengeance" t-shirt can be seen below in a side-by-side comparison.

JUDAS PRIEST's eighth studio album, "Screaming For Vengeance", will be released as a special 30th-anniversary edition on September 4 (one day earlier internationally) via Sony Music. The set will contain not only the remastered original album plus bonus tracks, but also a live DVD from the 1983 US Festival show, filmed in San Bernadino, California on May 29, 1983.

Former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash told New York's Newsday that being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the fact that the band's lead singer, Axl Rose, refused to be inducted along with the rest of the classic GN'R lineup closed the book on a GUNS N' ROSES reunion once and for all.

"I think that time is sort of passed at this point, but there was a period where big wads of cash were shaking in our direction," he said. "I think the concept of getting the band back together based on money is not going to happen."

Asked if the drama surrounding the GN'R Rock Hall induction — whether Axl Rose would show — was a bizarre experience, Slash said, "Given the history of the band, it really doesn't seem that bizarre. Originally I didn't want to deal with it. It was a big, unanswered question up until the 11th hour. We made do with what we had, and it turned out to be a really cool experience."

Regarding the 25th anniversary of GNR's "Appetite For Destruction", one of the most successful and important debut albums of all time which has gone on to sell more than 30 million copies, Slash said, "It doesn't seem like that long ago. The concept of a quarter of a century is crazy. It's become a very iconic record, and I'm proud of that. One of the most significant things about it is being considered a must-have for everybody's rock 'n' roll collection."

Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum has defended his performance in the classic GN'R track "November Rain", insisting that "drumming isn't all about fancy drum fills and splash cymbals."

Ex-DREAM THEATER and current ADRENALINE MOB drummer Mike Portnoy, who normally doesn't shy away from his two cents on any music-related discussion, took to his Twitter account on August 4 to pose the question: "'November Rain' is an all-time classic song... but why on Earth did Matt Sorum play the SAME EXACT fill every 4 bars? (23 times, to be exact!)"

Two days later, Sorum finally replied to Portnoy, writing on Twitter, "That fill was Axl's [Rose, GUNS N' ROSES singer] idea as a musical phrase that carried on through the trilogy, 'Don't Cry' and 'Estranged'. Those albums, 'Use Your Illusion' [parts] 1 and 2 have sold 20 million combined."

He added, "Remember, kids, drumming isn't all about fancy drum fills and splash cymbals. Ask Charlie Watts, Ringo [Starr] and Phil Rudd."

Portnoy then replied, "Agree 1000%!! Ringo is one of my greatest heroes!! No disrespect meant, bro... Just making an observation of that song. Peace! : )"

In a 2009 interview with Music Radar, Sorum spoke in more detail about his drumming approach on "November Rain", explaining, "The track I get the most amount of grief for, from drummers, is 'November Rain'. The reason I did that tom fill so many times is I felt it was a musical part. A lot of drummers were like, 'Why'd you play the same fill so much?!'

"Me and Axl were sitting in the studio late one night, having a couple of drinks and listening to Elton John, a song called 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me'.

"Axl goes, 'Do you hear that?' I'm like, 'Yeah, I love Nigel Olson, man'. He says, 'Do that on the song we're going to record tomorrow!' We'd rehearsed it but I didn't have all the fills and stuff, it was just a groove. In the end of 'November Rain', I get into that whole marching band trip."

The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup — featuring singer Todd La Torre as the replacement for Geoff Tate — is currently writing material for its new album, tentatively due sometime in 2013. La Torre writes on his Facebook page. "Listening to new QUEENSRŸCHE material with vocals I recorded today. Oh... my... Gawd. It ROCKS!"

QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Parker Lundgren (guitar) announced on June 20 that they were parting ways with Geoff Tate and recruiting La Torre of CRIMSON GLORY as his replacement. The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup previously played two shows in their home city of Seattle under the name RISING WEST.

Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield defeated Tate's motion for a preliminary injunction on July 13 that would have kept them from touring and operating under the band name,

Tate and his wife, Susan, QUEENSRŸCHE's former manager, filed a lawsuit against Geoff's ex-bandmates on June 22 in King County Superior Court over whether he should be awarded the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being dismissed from the group in June. Their complaint states Rockenfield, Wilton and Jackson wrongfully fired the singer and are tarnishing the group's brand by attempting to move forward without him.

If the case goes to trial, the date is set for November 18, 2013.

In the meantime, Wilton, Jackson and Rockenfield, along with Lundgren and La Torre have launched a new web site at QueensrycheOfficial.com.

The new QUEENSRŸCHE lineup made its official live debut as the headliner of the last day of this year's Halfway Jam, which took place July 26-28 in Royalton, Minnesota.

Lundgren was briefly married to Geoff's stepdaughter Miranda; they have since divorced.

Former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate taped a guest appearance on VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" this past weekend for an episode which is expected to air in late August or early September. "That Metal Show" co-host Eddie Trunk says, "We asked Geoff every tough question and he dodged nothing. He was honest in his assesment of what went down from his perspective [between him and his former bandmates]."

Sample quote from Geoff's "That Metal Show" segment: "I'd like to sit in a room with those gentlemen [referring to his former QUEENSRŸCHE bandmates] and have them tell me face to face what the situation is. Explain their actions. I'd like to know and actually understand their point of view. I'd like to see them talk to me face to face rather than through the Internet. Communication is a big part of any relationship, right? If nobody's talking, then nothing's getting settled. My door's open!"

Season 11 of "That Metal Show" kicks off on Saturday, August 11 and other featured guests include AEROSMITH's Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford, IRON MAIDEN's Steve Harris, CHICKENFOOT's Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony and Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Frontiers Records has announced the signing of KIX. The return of the Maryland rockers will materialize with the worldwide release of the band's first-ever live DVD and CD entitled, "Live In Baltimore", on September 21 in Europe and September 25 in North America.

We have been hard at work getting new material together that we think will stand shoulder to shoulder with any previous KIX record. It's a really exciting time for KIX!"

The official headstone ceremony for late RIOT guitarist Mark Reale will be held this Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetary (17501 Nacogdoches Rd.) in San Antonio, Texas (behind Rolling Oaks Mall). The event is open to the public.

Reale died on January 25 in a San Antonio hospital due to complications of Crohn's disease — an ailment he had battled for most of his life. He was 56 years old.

Reale had reportedly been in a coma for two weeks after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage on January 11.

Mark is survived by his father, Anthony Reale, and was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Reale.

Mark spent most of his life working and performing while enduring almost constant pain and the side effects of treatment for Crohn's disease. He was in Texas bravely attempting to practice for the shows, but was felled by a severe onset of Crohn's symptoms, leaving him in the Intensive Care Unit at an undisclosed facility. Mark was struggling with these symptoms throughout the production of RIOT's new album, "Immortal Soul", and guitarist Mike Flyntz recorded a major portion of the guitars on the LP with Mark's creative direction while Reale was unable to perform.

German thrash metal veterans DESTRUCTION have tapped Thomas "Angelripper" Such (SODOM) and Andreas "Gerre" Geremia (TANKARD) to lay down vocals on an as-yet-undisclosed song from their forthcoming 30th-anniversary album, "Spiritual Genocide", to be released in November via Nuclear Blast Records.

DESTRUCTION vocalist/bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer previously said that the band's new CD would be "much more intense than 'Day Of Reckoning'! And that wasn't a blues album ...haha!"

DESTRUCTION earlier in the year completed the North American "30th Year Anniversary Tour" with support from WARBRINGER, VITAL REMAINS (who were alternating each night) and PATHOLOGY.

Inspired by IRON MAIDEN, MERCYFUL FATE, MOTÖRHEAD and VENOM, DESTRUCTION was formed as KNIGHT OF DEMON in 1982. The band's original lineup included vocalist and bassist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer, drummer Tommy Sandmann, and guitarist Mike Sifringer. They soon changed their name to DESTRUCTION and released a demo titled "Bestial Invasion Of Hell" in 1984.

"Day Of Reckoning", the latest album from DESTRUCTION, sold around 800 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 58 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Day Of Reckoning" was the first album to feature drummer Vaaver (real name: Wawrzyniec Dramowicz; INDUKTI, ex-UNSUN).

German metallers MOB RULES are putting the finishing touches on their seventh album, "Cannibal Nation", for a tentative fall release. According to the band, the CD title "is taken from an eponymous song that will be included on the album. It is about Jean-Bedel Bokassa, the African human butcher."

MOB RULES in 2010 parted ways with longtime keyboardist Sascha Onnen and replaced him with Jan Christian Halfbrodt.

MOB RULES is:

Klaus Dirks - Vocals
Matthias Mineur - Guitar
Sven Lüdke - Guitar
Jan Christian Halfbrodt - Keyboards
Markus Brinkmann - Bass
Nikolas Fritz – Drums

MOB RULES's latest album, "Radical Peace", was released in November 2009 via AFM Records. The CD was recorded at Bazement Studio with longtime engineer Markus Teske (VANDEN PLAS, SPOCK'S BEARD, OASIS). A single, "Astral Hand", preceded the full-length CD on October 9, 2009.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, GODSMACK drummer Shannon Larkin revealed in a new interview with Noisecreep that while the band's recent concert album, "Live And Inspired", included four new cover songs recorded in the studio, the quartet also cut a fifth cover that didn't make it. Larkin explained, "We did a very cool industrial-sounding version of the PHIL COLLINS song 'In The Air Tonight'. It just didn't fit what was happening on the record. But I'm hoping we find a place to release it at some point. I think we will. Trust me, it is very cool."

The covers that did make the record, which came out in May, were JOE WALSH's "Rocky Mountain Way", METALLICA's "Nothing Else Matters", THE BEATLES' "Come Together" (see video below) and PINK FLOYD's "Time".

Larkin recalled that "Rocky Mountain Way" was "the first song I ever played live in my life," adding, "I was 11. My band was playing a Pagan keg party — a biker kind of thing. And that was the first tune we played, so it's still near and dear to me. I am so glad we covered that song."

GODSMACK will appear later this month on the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival tour, alongside SHINEDOWN, STAIND and others, and is also booked to perform at the Rock Vegas festival in late September and on board the ShipRocked 2012 cruise at the end of November.

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman has revealed via Twitter that he has written the first three chapters of his forthcoming autobiography. According to the singer, the book's release will coincide with the arrival of the debut album from DEVICE, his new industrial-style collaboration with former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo.

In January 2011, Draiman gave a lengthy interview to the Jerusalem Post in which he spoke in detail about his Jewish upbringing, spending part of his childhood and teen years in Israel, and how he confronts anti-Semitism among rock fans. Draiman recalled, "I came (to Israel) many times as a kid with my family. I think the first time I was six. I used to come here for summer camp a couple times in my childhood, and I spent the year after high school here studying at Neve Zion yeshiva."

Draiman told The Pulse Of Radio that during his year of religious study, his life could have taken a very different course. "The level of study that I was at, I was probably only about two or three years away from being ordained as a rabbi, so I really needed to figure out in my head where I wanted to go with things," he said. "And I just couldn't do it habitually anymore. I grew a very strong dislike for the organized aspect of religion over the course of time."

Draiman also told the Jerusalem Post that he attended five different Jewish day schools as a teenager, including the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study in Milwaukee — where he was asked to leave after the first year.

The singer admitted that the strict religious code at the school led him to rebel, revealing, "I'd set my friends up on dates with girls that I knew, in defiance of the school . . . Or I'd smoke a little bit of weed here and there, I'd get my buddies high, so I was the drug dealer on campus even though that's not what I was doing."

Asked by the Post about running into heavy metal fans who are anti-Semitic or sometimes even neo-Nazis, Draiman replied, "I'm incredibly defiant against neo-Nazis and skinheads," adding that he convinced one fan who used to come to the band's early shows in Chicago to get a swastika tattoo removed from his head after he learned that Draiman was Jewish.

A song called "Never Again" on DISTURBED's latest album, "Asylum", deals with the Holocaust and calls out people who deny it.

DISTURBED went on an open-ended hiatus last fall, with Draiman saying at the time that all four members wanted some time to pursue other endeavors. "We've got other things that each of the band members wanted to pursue individually, outside of DISTURBED," he said. "There's other businesses we have, there's other interests. We've got futures hopefully to help cultivate for our families and our children, and they can't all revolve specifically around DISTURBED."

DISTURBED has not indicated when it plans to return, although all four members say they're likely to come back.

Aside from Draiman, DISTURBED bassist John Moyer has branched out recently by joining ADRENALINE MOB, a new group also featuring ex-DREAM THEATER and AVENGED SEVENFOLD drummer Mike Portnoy.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Jason Hook has revealed in a new interview with Billboard.com that the band already has "probably six to eight songs worked up" for its next album and that the group is "probably going to be working on new material all the way up until the New Year, and then we'll start tracking in mid-January, maybe."

"The idea behind that is just to keep the creative muscle worked out," Hook explained. "It's just like going to the gym; if you stop for a year, you lose all your strength. It's easy to get lazy and get sort of soft. We're in the business of making music; touring is great, but we should always be prepared and always exercising that creative muscle — in my opinion, anyway."

He added, "It's just like anything: if you come in unprepared you get what you get, but if you do a decent amount of preparation, then at least you have options. The records are the launch pad for everything else, and I want to make the records great. If we need 10 killer songs, I'd rather have 30 songs to pick from than have eight and need two desperately at the end. I don't want to make records in a panic."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's third studio effort, "American Capitalist", arrived less than a year ago in October 2011.

Asked about the hurry to get back into the studio, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory explained in a recent interview, "I don't believe that a band today can afford to wait two, three, four years with an album, they just can't. So there's no reason, why not give new material, the consumption of music, the consumption of everything is super fast. You give somebody an album and they listen to it and a year later it's obsolete. We thought, 'Let's give them another one, they want to hear the music, we can make the music, then why not.'"

When asked how the new songs stack up to the material on "American Capitalist", Bathory replied, "It's kind of like the band has found its place where we are. We are a melodic heavy metal band and it has its balance. We have some ballads, we have some super heavy songs and everything goes between the big choruses — singable, remember-able — that we grew up on."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is currently headlining the Trespass America tour, also featuring KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, TRIVIUM, POP EVIL and others.

During a recent interview with the Broward-Palm Beach New Times, outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent was asked the question: "If [Republican presidential candidate Mitt] Romney were a rock band, what band would that be? [And how about President Barack] Obama?"

"Out and out politicians are anathema to rock and roll, so I hesitate to attempt to connect the two," Nugent replied. "But on important issues, I am saddened to admit that Obama represents everything bad about humanity and Romney pretty much all that is good. It is really that stark."

Asked about his involvement with Knife Rights — the organization which is dedicated to providing knife and edged tool owners an effective voice to influence public policy and to oppose efforts to restrict the right to own, use and carry knives and edged tools — Nugent said, "The right to self-defense is secondary to the pure righteous instinct to self-defense. Historically, monster freedom crushing tyrants, kings, emperors, despots, and evil slavedrivers denied mankind of such basic God-given rights, and this sacred experiment in self-government is based on refusing to give any of them up ever again."

He continued, "I saw the curse of apathy metastasize across this great country and the horrific attempt of evil politicians to infringe on these sacred rights through this increasingly opening door. I decided early on that we the people have a moral bound duty to remain engaged and halt those daring to infringe.

"Freedom is not free and due diligence and vigilance is the only way to safeguard it. If a man is forced to be unarmed and helpless, you are at the mercy of evil, and that simply does not compute to conscientious, thinking people, so we stand and fight."

Guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy of Florida metallers TRIVIUM will take part in a special one-night-only acoustic performance to benefit MOSCOT Mobileyes Foundation. The event will take place on Monday, August 13 between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at The MOSCOT Gallery & Music Space in New York City.

For more information, see the flyer below.

MOSCOT Mobileyes Foundation Inc.'s mission is to preserve sight and improve lives by providing free quality medical eyecare and eyewear to New York City's underserved populations.

In a recent interview with Sweden's Metalshrine, Heafy stated about TRIVIUM's plans for the next album, "We have nine songs pretty much completely recorded as pre-production, recorded on our bass player's laptop, and it actually sounds better than our first record. Paolo's [Gregoletto] really good at recording shit. It's all programmed drums, but programmed in a way that Paolo programmed the bass part, like the underlying drum tracks and Nick [Augusto, drums] would sit with him and rewrite them, but on the computer. We tracked guitars, we tracked bass and we're gonna track vocals soon, we tracked solos and I've got an album title, album arts, song names. We've got about 15 songs and everything's planned out. Video ideas, photo shoot ideas, everything. But we just can't reveal anything."

When asked about who will produce the next TRIVIUM CD, Heafy said, "We don't exactly know. We've got the plan, but we can't reveal. It's also kinda far to tell, but it will be different again. The new stuff sounds amazing and I know every bands says that, but yeah, it's really great. The fact that we're all working on it so much already, we know that it's something really special."

TRIVIUM, AS I LAY DYING, CALIBAN and UPON A BURNING BODY will join forces for a European tour this fall.

TRIVIUM's latest album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career.

The album stream is free of charge to all those with an Xbox Live subscription and will be available until Tuesday, August 14.

IN THIS MOMENT began work on the new album just a few months following the departures of drummer Jeff Fabb and guitarist Blake Bunzel, who left the band late last year in order to join the backing group of "American Idol" finalist James Durbin. Swedish blues rockers GRAVEYARD have set "Lights Out" as the title of their next album, due on October 26 via Nuclear Blast Records. A single, "Goliath", will precede the full-length CD on September 21 as a digital download and on seven-inch vinyl. The single will include a special non-album track, "Leaving You".

The "Goliath" seven-inch vinyl will be issued in four different colors (see below), featuring four different cover artworks.

Comments the band: "The ['Goliath'] lyrics deal with the feeling that everyday life is a constant David vs. Goliath scene. You all know the story and the scene. You look around, get pissed off and want to 'stick it to the man.' Musically, it has many influences. And, as usual, we've tried to get it both heavy and swinging at the same time. So why don't you just shake your record collecting old ass to the beat of the new tune from your favourite Swedish numbskulls?"

Regarding the "Lights Out" cover artwork, GRAVEYARD states, "The cover is something completely different than the last cover. It has a lot to do with the title, 'Lights Out'. Our goal was that both the title and the cover would sum up the feeling of the album. And just to make things clear, 'Lights Out' is not a reference to either UFO or ENTOMBED. Even though both are excellent bands."

GRAVEYARD was honored with the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" award at the Swedish "Grammis" gala, which was held on February 14 at Kungliga Operan in Stockholm.

GRAVEYARD's second full-length album, "Hisingen Blues", sold 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 48 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Hisingen Blues" entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 1. The CD, which was released in North America on April 19, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records, was produced, recorded, and mixed in 100 percent analog by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.
San Francisco metallers EARLY GRAVES will release their new album, "Red Horse", on October 30 via No Sleep Records. The CD — which was recorded with Tim Green at Louder Studios — marks the band's intrepid return since the tragic death of founding singer Makh Daniels two years ago, and the next chapter of the group's career, with close friend John Strachan of THE FUNERAL PYRE taking over vocal duties.

EARLY GRAVES recently released a rough demo of the song "Days Grow Cold", featuring Strachan on vocals. You can now stream it using the SoundCloud player below.

The band will hit the road with fellow metalheads SKELETONWITCH in September.

EARLY GRAVES formed in the Bay Area in early 2008 and released two full-length albums, "We: The Guillotine" (2008) and "Goner" (2010), on Metal Blade Records' Ironclad imprint. The band's sound has been described as a mixture of old-school Swedish death metal and American hardcore punk and has drawn comparisons to NAPALM DEATH, CARCASS, TRAGEDY and TESTAMENT, among others.

In the summer of 2010, tragedy struck when EARLY GRAVES was involved in a van accident, which resulted in the death of singer Makh Daniels. After about a year of contemplation, the band decided to continue on, with close friend, John Strachan, of THE FUNERAL PYRE (who were in the same van during the accident) stepping in for Daniels.

The band reconvened with Strachan helming vocals at last summer's Power Of The Riff festivals in Los Angeles and San Francisco alongside PELICAN, PENTAGRAM and more. Since then, the band has battered the western half of the U.S., appearing at Scion's Metal Matinee series with the CRO-MAGS and performing with such bands as NASUM, GHOUL, RINGWORM and CANCER BATS.

In early 2012 EARLY GRAVES began writing and recording demos for their follow-up to "Goner" and first with Strachan.

It was produced by Snyder at Standstraight and was mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London, England.

SISTER SIN's second album, "True Sound Of The Underground", landed at position No. 97 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

SISTER SIN in November 2010 announced the addition of bassist Andreas Strandh to the group's ranks.

Lead guitarist Ian Gray (a.k.a. Shrapnel) has left Australia-based blackened thrash metallers DESTRÖYER 666 for personal reasons.

Commented guitarist/vocalist KK: "The end of an era — Shrapnel has for personal reasons decided that the past weekend's Southern Cross Fest will be his last show with DESTRÖYER. The man has been with the band since 1996 and has been pivotal to the bands career over the past 16 years. It was, without doubt, a fitting end to what has been one hell of a ride. A fine musician, a great mate, a brother, and an integral member of this pack, he will be greatly missed. DESTRÖYER will continue..."

Added Sharpnel: "Many thanks for all the words of support. I raise my glass to you all. DESTRÖYER 666 has been a massive part of life for the last 16 years and will always be a part of me. The journey it has taken me on has been simply incredible. From the other side of the planet... to places I never dreamed of going, to meeting people from all over the world... and many becoming my friends. No, I'm not stopping music or turning my back on metal. I can't... it runs through my veins. I wish my brothers KK, Matty and Mersus every success and the beast that is DESTRÖYER 666 will continue. AUSTRALIAN AND ANTICHRIST FOREVER!!!!!"

After the success of last year's reissue of DESTRÖYER 666's classic "Cold Steel… For An Iron Age", many fans asked for the 2000 masterpiece "Phoenix Rising" to get the same treatment. Well, that time has come. On August 24 (August 28 in North America), the band's sophomore album will hit the stores as CD and LP in remastered editions with brand new artwork and liner notes from the band.

With the release of "Phoenix Rising", the band reached a new dimension. With their steadily growing popularity, DESTRÖYER 666 had clearly delivered a must-have masterpiece in the view of old and new fans alike.

The icing on the cake is that the long-awaited reissue of "Cold Steel…" on vinyl LP will be released on August 24 as well.

After releasing an amped-up cover of a holiday classic in each of the past four years, Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based Christian metalcore quintet AUGUST BURNS RED will issue a full-length Christmas album, "August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin' Hill, A Holiday Album". The 13-track release features not only fresh takes on classics such as "Jingle Bells", "Winter Wonderland" and even "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer", but also original compositions that are destined to become future headbanging holiday favorites. The album also compiles remixed and remastered versions of the band's previous holiday hits, like "O Come, O Come Emmanuel", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Little Drummer Boy". Rounding out the collection is an updated version of the band's rendition of "Carol Of The Bells", heard in Frank Miller's ("300", "Sin City") movie "The Spirit" and Seth MacFarlane's ("Family Guy") "American Dad".

"The idea of doing a full Christmas album has been floating around in the ABR camp for a few years now, but what always held us back was finding the time and energy to write an additional full-length in between touring and writing our regular records," explains guitarist and principal songwriter JB Brubaker. "After finishing [2011's] 'Leveler', I finally felt inspired enough to tackle the Christmas album idea."

After working with some of the biggest producers in the genre, the band chose to come home and work at Lancaster's Atrium Audio with longtime friends Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland on "Sleddin' Hill", which finds ABR at its most ambitious and creative. It's a work that enhances the guitar and drum mastery AUGUST BURNS RED are known for by adding unexpected elements such as banjo, violin, cello, piano and even horns.

"Because this was such a different type of album, I was able to get a little more wild with my influences," confesses Brubaker. "There's a section inspired by one of my favorite bands, BEIRUT. There's also guitar solo that is an ode to Blue Album-era WEEZER, and my punk roots are evident all over the album."

"Writing metal versions of Christmas songs has always been a challenge for me because the songs are driven by simple vocal melodies with the only variety in the lyrics. We decided to take the songs and go the instrumental route — the main melodies are there, but this record has a lot more to it then that," he adds. "The songs have sections of music that flow in and out of the classic melodies we've all come to recognize. There is a lot of substance in these songs- more than you'd find in your typical cover."

On whether "Sleddin' Hill" is destined to become a novelty album or a key part of the band's discography, Brubaker has the final word: "To some, the concept of a metal Christmas album may come off as silly and a waste of time, but I think this record has plenty of original ABR substance to interest even the biggest Scrooges out there."

"August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin' Hill, A Holiday Album" track listing:

01. Flurries
02. Frosty the Snowman
03. Sleigh Ride
04. God Rest Ye' Merry Gentlemen
05. Jingle Bells
06. Oh Holy Night
07. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
08. Sleddin' Hill
09. Little Drummer Boy
10. Winter Wonderland
11. O Come, O Come Emmanuel
12. Carol of the Bells (2012)
13. We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Leading up the release of "Sleddin' Hill", AUGUST BURNS RED is set to launch a five-week, 30-city North American tour on August 31 with support from OF MICE & MEN, THE COLOR MORALE and labelmates THE OVERSEER, before heading back to Europe where they'll hit 12 countries in four weeks.

Jacksonville, Florida hard rock quintet ALLELE has inked a deal with MTV's Hype Music label. The band recently spent time with Scott Bush of Timeline Studios in Cape Coral, Florida recording five new songs.

A press release states: "In today's repetitious rock world, it's refreshing when an artist comes along with a truly engaging and entertaining sound that can grasp the listener's attention and leave a mark that is not soon forgotten. As you listen to an album and accurately experience the passion the artist felt, you carry that connection and share it with everyone around you. This is definitely the case with Jacksonville's ALLELE, as the Florida five-piece has been tearing up stages across the U.S. alongside major artists like SALIVA, CHIMAIRA, TANTRIC, SOIL, TAPROOT, NONPOINT, STAIND, SEVENDUST and SHINEDOWN, all along the way building an army of devoted followers."

ALLELE's sophomore album, "Next To Parallel", was released lat year via Goomba Music. The CD was produced by the band and mixed/mastered at Jacksonville's MyPlatinumSound by Paul Lapinski (RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS, ALICIA KEYS, EVERGREEN TERRACE, PUDDLE OF MUDD, MOLLY HATCHET, YELLOWCARD). The vocal tracks were engineered by Pete Charell (bassist of TRAPT) at Dexter Dog Studios in Laguna, California.

ALLELE (pronounced Uh-Leel) was formed in 2002 by vocalist Wally Wood and guitarist Lane Maverick.

ALLELE is:

Vocals: Wally Wood
Bass: Tim Tobin
Drums: Dusty Winterrowd
Lead Guitar: Lane Maverick
Guitar: Jessie Rush

What started out as a fun side-project for SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly and bassist Vince Hornsby, ALTER BRIDGE/CREED drummer Scott Phillips, and TREMONTI/CREED guitarist Eric Friedman has become PROJECTED. The band's debut album, "Human", will be released September 18 on Connolly's own Yaya Papu LLC label.

Produced by Connolly and Elvis Baskette (ALTER BRIDGE, PUDDLE OF MUDD), the majority of the album's music and vocals were recorded at Studio 1119, Connolly's studio in his home office ("when it's not being used by his wife to pay the bills or his daughter to play Webkins," he jokes).

For "Human"'s artwork, PROJECTED reached out to their fans on Facebook to submit their original concepts. The winner's design graces the final album cover, while 16 runner-ups will have their artwork included in the CD case and on the back cover. One "Wild Card" winning submission will be seen under the disc inside the case. All finalists are receiving a "Top Tier Bundle" music and merchandise package, which includes the CD, T-shirt, autographed poster, sticker, and lifetime VIP laminate, all of which will arrive two weeks before the album is released. All of the submitted artwork can be seen on the band's web site.

"The idea behind this project originally started as nothing more than a group of us who were friends already, going into the studio to just record some tunes we had laying around and basically just have a good time with it," explains Connolly. "No pressure from labels or any pre-conceived notions or expectations. Just making music and having a good time. 'Human' is the end result of us working without deadlines or budget constraints…or a budget at all."

"John, Vinny, Eric, and I have shared many miles and many stages together over previous years," explains Scott Phillips. "We've always talked about collaborating and now it's finally come to fruition. I might possibly be one of the biggest SEVENDUST fans ever, and to get the opportunity to work with a few of my favorite musicians on the planet, and some of my best friends, means the world to me. We wholeheartedly believe in these songs...believe in John's vision... and couldn't be happier about the future of PROJECTED!"

As Vince Hornsby continues, "I'm grateful for the opportunity that I was given to work on this project with John, Scott and Eric. They are great friends and talented musicians. I look forward to getting all the songs out there for everyone to hear and excited about what the future holds."

And Eric Friedman concludes, "Just a buncha bros doin' what we love!"

Throughout the album, PROJECTED serves up a healthy dose of the heavy with songs such as "Alive" and "Breaking Me". The listener can't help but hear the SEVENDUST influences in "Alive", with Hornsby providing the down-tuned bass tones while Friedman gives the song originality with eccentric guitar riffs. And on "Bring You Back", SEVENDUST singer Lajon Witherspoon makes a special appearance on vocals.

"12804" is one of the more personal and emotional songs on the album. To Connolly, this is one of the most prominent tracks due to the lyrical content, which pays tribute to the late "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, whose life was tragically taken on December 8, 2004. In "12804", the listener can hear the sorrow in Connolly's voice and lyrics as he sings: "Somewhere there's another all in for the other…Two can breathe forever…Nowhere there's another life into the after…Two can live forever."

After listening to "Human", it's easy to see and hear that this is just not another supergroup. It is a new band of musicians that have used their talents from being in other well-known bands to create an album that is unique and all of their own. From the opening intro track to the last song, "Breaking Me", PROJECTED solidifies their presence as a band that has not only created an exuberant album, but as a band with individuals that have come full circle as truly talented and memorable musicians for years to come.

"Human" track listing:

01. Into
02. HELLo
03. Watch It Burn
04. So Low
05. Bring You Back
06. 12804
07. Alive
08. The Crown
09. Stella
10. Closure
11. Breaking Me

A lyric video for the song "Watch It Burn" can be seen below.

PROJECTED is:

John Connolly (SEVENDUST) - Guitar, Vocals
Vince Hornsby (SEVENDUST) - Bass
Scott Phillips (ALTER BRIDGE, CREED) - Drums
Eric Friedman (a.k.a. Erock; TREMONTI) - Guitar, Vocals

German melodic folk/death metallers SUIDAKRA have issued the following update:

"We are still writing new songs for the upcoming album. Six tracks are already finished now. [Famous Belgian graphic artist] Kris Verwimp is again creating the lyrical concept and we will also have a few guest musicians on the new record. Arkadius [Antonik, vocals] will meet [longtime collaborator] Tina Stabel this Friday to work on a new song and we all are excited about the upcoming release."

SUIDAKRA is tentatively scheduled to enter the studio in January to begin recording its new CD for a mid-2013 release. Arkadius recently told Metal Kaoz, "The songs we have finished [so far] are bombastic and we also finished the first song with Tina's female vocals. This time, it's gonna be a faster song with a real epic and catchy chorus."

SUIDAKRA's tenth album, "Book Of Dowth", was released on March 25, 2011 via AFM Records. The CD was recorded at Gernhart Studio in Siegburg, Germany with producer Martin Buchwalter. Kris Verwimp once again created the cover artwork and lyrical concept.

Inspired by the darker side of Celtic lore, the concept of "Book Of Dowth" chronicles the mythology of a mysterious race of demonic beings known as the "Fomor." Starting with the discovery of an ancient book at the excavation of Dowth (a Neolithic passage tomb in the Boyne Valley, Ireland), it unveils the yet untold story of the rise and fall of the Fomorian horde throughout history and far, far beyond…

Adam "Nergal" Darski, the frontman of the blackened death metal act BEHEMOTH, has announced that he will be the new spokesman for energy drink called Demon in his native Poland. As in every project Nergal approaches, this will be on his own terms: a portion of the proceeds will benefit the DKMS foundation. The DKMS foundation raises awareness and funds to benefit those diagnoses with various forms of blood cancer.

Comments Nergal: "Well, I decided to accept the offer to be a face of this energy drink called Demon. I've never been much of a fan of such drinks but I loved the idea behind it… the whole campaign is strongly connected with DKMS foundation (the one that found a bone marrow donor for myself). The percentage of sales will be donated to the foundation and will make this whole business worthwhile for me. Besides, I loved the name and a logo…so why the fuck not?"

"We want this brand to surprise people while we have fun with marketing communications," said Marek Sypek, chairman and managing director of Agros-Nova, the company that is said to be licensing the product from Demon's manufacturer in New Zealand. "We want it to be controversial, but taken with a grain of salt."

Demon's product logo contains a pentagram and Nergal will appear in the advertising campaigns in his BEHEMOTH stage attire. Featuring the slogan "No Limits - No Laws," the campaign will include four tempting flavors and one low price.

There continues to be more great news from the BEHEMOTH camp. The band has announced that they will begin rehearsals for their next album in September, following their performances at several European festivals over the next two weeks. Additionally, the band will embark on a tour of Eastern Europe in the fall.

Nergal elaborates on the upcoming tour dates: "This is what I call the perfect ending of a touring cycle. Finally, we are arriving in Eastern European and South American shores this fall. I know it's been ages… and I know there've been legions waiting for us… On behalf of the band I must say though: the wait is over; we are coming back rejuvenated and hungry! See you all very soon!"
