Original BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne and bassist Geezer Butler discussed their new album in a video interview posted at NME.com over the weekend. The three musicians are working with producer Rick Rubin on their first recording project together in 34 years, with Osbourne saying, "We've written about 15 songs so far. Whether they all get on the album, I don't know. We just keep on writing." Osbourne also dropped a clue about the set's title, hinting, "Next year, 2013, is a good clue to what we're going to call the album."

As for how Rubin influenced the band's approach to writing together again, Butler explained, "He sat us down, put the first album on and said 'listen to this', imagine it's 1969, you've just done that, what would you do next?"

Iommi added, "It's taken on the flavor of the old stuff in the way we put things together, but with a different look on it."

The album will not be a full-fledged SABBATH reunion. Drummer Bill Ward declined to participate due to issues with the contract he was offered to rejoin the band.

"We've tried everything with Bill at the moment, and it's just not happening," Iommi said. "Our legal people are dealing with his legal people. It's all nonsense. We haven't actually heard from Bill, any of this stuff. It's all been through his lawyers."

"The door is open," Ozzy added. "As far as I know, his requests were very unreasonable. Nothing would have been better [than] if he would have been [willing to play with us]. I don't know. I don't deal with the business."

The project suffered another blow earlier this year when Iommi was diagnosed with cancer, although he said that playing a recent warm-up show in their hometown of Birmingham, England was a boost to his spirits. "It was great," he said. "Going through what I've gone through over the past year has been like living in a different world — being onstage and to get that (reaction from the fans) is just fantastic, it really boosts you up."

SABBATH has curtailed almost all its planned touring activities for 2012 while Iommi undergoes treatment. The band is still scheduled to headline the U.K.'s Download festival this Sunday (June 10) and Chicago's Lollapalooza event in early August. Tommy Clufetos is filling in on drums.

On June 5, AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson was interviewed by Lamont and Sully of the "Lamont And Tonelli Show", which airs on the Bay Area rock station 107.7 The Bone.

When asked about when fans can expect to hear a new studio album from AC/DC, Johnson said, "I'll be getting together with [AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young] in a couple of weeks, and then we're going to London to meet up with Angus [Young, Malcolm's brother and AC/DC lead guitarist], hopefully. And that's usually how we'll start. We're just a bunch of pals from the projects, still. Even though we've done well, we still have the same roots that we stick by that we did when we had nothing, basically. And that's the work ethic. And it has to be right for the boys to do anything. When we're sitting down and [we're talking about], 'Can we do this? We're not gonna be a pale shadow of our former selves?' We'll talk about it and make sure that we've all got it. We're just five pieces of a card, and if one of us is not really [able to perform at 100 percent], the whole thing would just collapse, I think."

Regarding AC/DC's plans to tour in support of the upcoming CD, Brian said, "Well, I think it wouldn't be like the last one. That was two years. I mean, that was just nuts. We were just fragged when we finshed [that one]. I mean, it took about three weeks to get over it. But it was so much fun, though. For guys our age at the time, to tour the world to sellout audiences everywhere, it gives you a good feeling. And the great thing was to look out into the audiences and have a look at the generations of people… I mean, it was unbelievable… Kids there that were 7-8 [years old], teenagers…"

Malcolm Young recently confirmed to Classic Rock magazine that AC/DC is working on the follow-up to 2008's "Black Ice". But he said fans will likely have to wait longer than expected, after singer Brian Johnson suggested there would be new material next year.

"You know what Brian's like. He just says things and then walks away," Malcolm said. "It'll be a little while — a year or two anyway.

He added, "I've been doing some jamming on some song ideas but I do that all the time, as do the rest of the band. We are still working. But we had a long rest between 'Stiff Upper Lip' and 'Black Ice', so I think we need a couple of years to recuperate and work on it a bit more."

During a January 2012 appearance on "The Cowhead Show", the American radio program hosted by Mike "Cowhead" Calta, Johnson revealed that health issues were affecting one of his bandmates, which may have put new album plans temporarily on hold. "One of the boys is a little sick and I can't say anything, but he's getting better," Brian said. "He's doing wonderful. Full recovery fully expected."

GUNS N' ROSES lead singer Axl Rose was robbed of jewelry worth $200,000 after the band's concert in Paris.

The theft reportedly occurred last night during a private party at an area guarded by the frontman's personal security team. The singer, who was not wearing the items at the time, was said to be "furious."

Only invited guests and members of Axl's entourage were allowed into the lounge where the three gold-and-diamond necklaces were stolen, according to the police.

In addition sole original member Axl Rose, the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarists Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Richard Fortus and DJ Ashba, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.

According to RTL.fr, a young woman was placed into police custody earlier today (Wednesday, June 6) after she admitted having taken $200,000 worth of jewelry belonging to GUNS N' ROSES lead singer Axl Rose.

The young model, whose identity was not revealed, told the police that she drank too much and inadvertently put Rose's three gold-and-diamond necklaces in her handbag, realizing her mustake only after waking up at lunchtime. She subsequently returned the items to a police station in central Paris.

The theft reportedly occurred after GUNS N' ROSES' June 5 concert in Paris, France during a private party at an area guarded by the frontman's personal security team. The singer, who was not wearing the items at the time, was said to be "furious."

About 130 invited guests and members of Axl's entourage were allowed into the lounge where the jewelry was stolen.

Eagle Rock Entertainment has set June 26 as the release date for "Alive In The Windy City", the first-ever STONE TEMPLE PILOTS concert to be authorized by the band for commercial video release.

Filmed in state-of-the-art high-definition, recorded in DTS-HD Master Audio and LPCM Stereo, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS performed a high-octane show at the sold-out Riviera Theatre in Chicago, Illinois. This March 2010 concert blended new songs from their self-titled sixth album with classic hits from the inception of their career. Vocalist Scott Weiland, bassist Robert DeLeo, guitarist Dean DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz erupted with a stop-on-a-dime tight, blistering set that included "Interstate Love Song", "Plush", "Vasoline", "Creep", "Sex Type Thing" and "Big Empty". The 18-song show is complemented with bonus exclusive band member interviews — total running time is 92 minutes.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS has revealed that it will launch a tour on September 1 in Hershey, Pennsylvania to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its 1992 debut disc, "Core". According to Rolling Stone, the band will play the album in its entirety on the trek, with singer Scott Weiland saying, "I think it'll be really fun, because the one thing that I got tired of was sort of playing the same basic set list every night. It was like, 'the hits.' This way, it's something different, and I think it will be cool."

Asked which song from "Core" he's most looking forward to revisiting, Weiland replied, "What comes to mind is the first song that we ever wrote with all of us in the band, when we had our first rehearsal with Dean. He had this guitar riff that turned into 'Where the River Goes'. We haven't played that song in a long time, so I'm looking forward to that."

Weiland also said that he's "sure" STP will record another brand new album at some point. He told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that the other three members of the group will start coming up with music before he gets involved in the process. "They usually start before me, just kind of getting like some rough ideas together and then putting a rough idea, a rough mix down on Pro Tools with no lyrics and no melody," he said. "And I start listening to it and see if it's a straight-ahead rock 'n' roll record or if it's more of a concept album."

Weiland also has a new solo track out now called "Breathe", which appears on "Avengers Assemble", the soundtrack to "The Avengers".

The disc came out on May 1 with the movie opening on May 4. The singer said about the tune, "I thought that it fit the idea — I haven't seen the film yet, but just thematically, it fit. And I'm happy to be a part of it."

According to Venia-Mag.net, MEGADETH performed an abbreviated set last night (Tuesday, June 5) at the Metalfest Open Air at Zadar Beach in Zadar, Croatia after members of crowd were flipping off the band and throwing stones and bottles at MEGADETH following the cancelation of two of the festival's other main-stage acts.

Although there has been no official statement on the matter, it appears that DARK TRANQUILLITY was forced to pull out of the event due to "technical problems," while W.A.S.P. refused to play following a rumored backstage disagreement with MEGADETH over other technical issues.

Video footage of the mayhem from last night's concert can be seen below. Also available is a short pre-show video message from MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson in which he can be heard saying rather prophetically, "The stage is set for the pandemonium to begin tonight."

A YouTube user named Danijela Daisy wrote earlier today, "I am sooooo ashamed for what happened to MEGADETH last night! I wouldn't blame them for not coming back to Croatia...this is not the way how you treat the part of the 'Big 4'. It was horrible experience for me seeing that ...I was also disappointed with W.A.S.P. for not coming at all...but we cannot blame MEGADETH for that.... I love ya, guys...wish you all the best and no more experiences like last night in Zadar."

Another YouTube user, BalkanDixie, added, "I'm so sorry what happened yesterday! I hope you guys didn't get hurt and I hope you didn't take all that rock-throwing shit seriously, 'cause Croatia loves you! Please don't hate whole nation because of that act, there are F.... RETARDS all over the world, and Croatia is not exception!!! SORRY."

German power metallers HELLOWEEN recently entered the studio to record the follow-up to 2010's "7 Sinners" for an early 2013 release.

A video update from the studio, featuring singer Andy Deris, can be seen at
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151049227811874

HELLOWEEN guitarist Michael Weikath previously stated about the band's preparations for the new CD: "Right now we are busy with finalizing the songwriting process and are getting ready to take the accumulated ideas into a final selection for the new record. Everybody in the band is excited and eager to take what we have worked on so far to the next level."

HELLOWEEN's new album is once again being helmed by long-time producer Charlie Bauerfeind and will contain "all the trademark" elements on the band's sound," according to a press release. "Already in this early stage the new effort promises to be much more than a fine follow-up to the highly acclaimed 'Gambling With The Devil' and '7 Sinners' albums. Bombastic epic pieces have been worked on as well as ultrafast heavy songs and mid-tempo anthems."

"7 Sinners", the 13th studio album from HELLOWEEN, sold around 1,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 7 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
German power metallers GRAVE DIGGER will release their new album on August 24 in Europe and September 4 in North America via Napalm Records. A six-song mini-CD, "Home At Last", will precede the full-length effort on July 27 in Europe and August 7 in North America.

"Home At Last" track listing:

01. Home At Last
02. Rage Of The Savage Beast (non-album track)
03. Metal Will Never Die (non-album track)
04. Ballad Of A Hangman (live in Wacken 2010)
05. Excalibur (live in Wacken 2010)
06. Heavy Metal Breakdown (live in Wacken 2010)

Check out the cover artwork below.

GRAVE DIGGER's new CD was recorded at Principal Studios in Münster, Germany. The band laid down at least 10 new original compositions as well as "a cover version of a male, 'not-heavy-metal' artist," which the group said "won't be another German 'Schlager' song... it will be 150 percent pure GRAVE DIGGER metal. Again we transferred the spirit of the '80s into the sound of 2012."

GRAVE DIGGER last fall extended its contract with Napalm Records. The band said in a statement, "Napalm is a small and hard-working team that is as effective and productive as a company of 70 people. Always reachable and competent, they work with their artists individually. These are the strengths of Napalm, and that is why we have signed a deal for three more records under the Napalm banner."

"The Clans Are Still Marching", the latest DVD from GRAVE DIGGER, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 56 (German chart rules allow music DVDs to enter album charts).

GRAVE DIGGER's latest album, "The Clans Will Rise Again", was released in Europe on October 1, 2010 via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded between mid-May 2010 and mid-July 2010 at the Meadow Studios, which is owned by GRAVE DIGGER's new guitarist Axel Ritt, and Principal Studios, where all of GRAVE DIGGER albums since 1995's "Heart Of Darkness" have been tracked. It was produced by Chris Boltendahl and mixed by Jörg Umbreit.

THE SKULL, the new band formed by the original member of Chicago doom
legends TROUBLE — vocalist Eric Wagner (also of BLACKFINGER) — alongside the band's longtime bassist Ron Holzner (also of EARTHEN GRAVE), and guitarists Lothar Keller and Michael Carpenter of the Chicago, Illinois-based progressive power metal band SACRED DAWN, has recruited drummer Brad "Sabbath" Sabathne (ex-SACRED DAWN, DAVID SHANKLE GROUP) to sit behind the kit for the following shows:

June 15 - Dark Star 15th Anniversary - Elgin, IL (@ Tilted Kilt)
June 16 - Days of The Doomed Festival - Cudahy, WI (@ The Blue Pig Bar & Venue)
July 14 - Alehorn Of Power Fest - Chicago, IL (@ Reggies Rock Club)
July 21 - Hells Pleasure Festival - Pößneck, Germany (@ Motocross Area)

Drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson recently quit THE SKULL, explaining in a statement, "Upon much thought, and effective immediately, I will not be participating with THE SKULL. I've decided to wait for a real TROUBLE reunion with original members or not play TROUBLE's music at all. I can not comment further at this time. My apologies to those who have been disappointed."

Wagner, Olson and original TROUBLE bassist Sean McAllister shared the stage for the first time since 1986 during Olson's RETRO GRAVE set on June 18, 2011 at the Days Of The Doomed Fest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

TROUBLE formed in 1979 and released several classic albums like "Trouble", "Manic Frustration" and "Plastic Green Head".

Eric was one of the guest singers on Dave Grohl's (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS) heavy metal side project PROBOT, whose 2004 album featured heavy metal vocalists from the '80s and '90s. Wagner also makes a guest appearance in the forthcoming horror film "Jezebeth" (written and directed by Damien Dante of Satania 6 Films), to be released on Blu-ray in early 2012.

Eric Wagner left TROUBLE in April 2008, citing his disdain for the touring life as the main reason for his departure.

Canadian rockers DANKO JONES are gearing up to release their first-ever official DVD, entitled "Bring On The Mountain". Due on July 3 in the United States, the two-disc set features a comprehensive 90-minute documentary spanning the band's incredible career, including a slew of exclusive live clips from some of their most memorable performances from around the world. In order to give their fans the best viewing experience possible, the band has blended the greatest clips and moments captured on video throughout their career — forming the outstanding DVD that rabid DANKO JONES fans have been clamoring for. Shot by the Diamond Bros., the documentary offers a unique insight into the ups and downs of one of the hardest-working bands around today.

An extra special treat for fans comes in the format of a short film titled "The Ballad Of Danko Jones". Based on DANKO JONES' most recent video trilogy, the film features actors Elijah Wood, Selma Blair, Ralph Macchio, Jena Malone, musicians Lemmy (MOTÖRHEAD), Mike Watt (MINUTEMEN, FIREHOSE), and many other familiar faces. All 19 music videos the band has ever made, including videos that have not been available in over 10 years, are also included.

The world premiere of "Bring On The Mountain" will take place at the National Film Board during the NXNE Film Festival in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 12 (encore performance on June 15), followed by "The Ballad Of Danko Jones" on June 13. Although DANKO JONES will be busy touring in Europe, directors Josh and Jason Diamond will be on hand for the premiere.

DANKO JONES recently wrapped up recording a new album at Noble Street Studios in their hometown of Toronto with producer Matt DeMatteo, and is currently in Vancouver working on the final mixes with engineer Mike Fraser. The currently untitled album is expected to be released early fall 2012.

DANKO JONES will take part in a special European festival run kicking off on June 7 in Sweden at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg. Fall dates in both the U.S. and Canada will be announced shortly along with more European shows.

DANKO JONES last year parted ways with drummer Dan Cornelius and replaced him with Atom Willard.

Anthony Morgan of Metal Forces recently conducted an interview with SLAYER/PHILM drummer Dave Lombardo. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

On reforming PHILM:

Lombardo: "I really liked Gerry's [Nestler, guitar and vocals] style. I found it very unique; it was heavy at times, but it just had a different style. I felt drawn to play drums with him. Tom Araya [vocals] from SLAYER was in the hospital — he was getting some neck and spinal surgery — and I found myself with a bunch of time. I reformed the group at that time but I couldn't find the original bass player [Juan Antonio Perez], so I ended up finding Pancho [Francisco Tomaselli]. He had approached me at a drum workshop and told me that he had heard I liked the band he was playing in, which was true. It was a band called WAR — the classic WAR band from the '70s — who he's been playing with for seven or eight years, or maybe longer. We've been playing ever since. We took the bull by the horns, just recording the album ourselves in a house. It was a lot of fun; we had a really good time doing it, and we already have material for the next record."

On the influence of '60s drummers on PHILM:

Lombardo: "Drummers in those days were self-taught; they learnt by watching, listening, and mimicking, and not by reading scores of music or learning from a teacher. They did it from the heart, and learning it from the heart is from searching and educating yourself on something that you feel passionate about. It was done differently back then. Today we find drummers that are educated; they go to Berklee (College Of Music, Massachusetts), they go to Musicians Institute (Hollywood, California), and they come out with all these high numbers. But man, if you put them in a room, come on. Come up with something, something that's new, interesting, and fresh. They wouldn't be able to though. All they come up with is what they've learnt, the one scale that they worked on for four or five hours. Sometimes I have to tell musicians that I play with 'Dude…,' because I didn't grow up like that. I was self-taught, so I really don't know the language. I've noticed the difference of certain musicians. I don't know where the hell this question started (laughs). Oh yeah… drummers like Mitch Mitchell (THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE) were very fluid, very natural, and very spontaneous and explosive. It had dynamic. Today of course with what I just said and also computers altering the sound of the drummer and the feeling of the drummer, you lose the swing."

On recording debut PHILM album in North Hollywood, California at the house of a friend:

Lombardo: "She has this three-to-four-bedroom house, and there was a center room in the middle of the house. It's kind of strange how this room is set up. This room resembled a drum room that I had recorded in in Hagen, Germany at Woodhouse Studios, where I did three records [March 1995's 'Power Of Inner Strength', February 1997's 'Nemesis' and February 1999's 'Solidify'] with GRIP INC. in the '90s. When I walked into that room, she told me that she played guitar and sang in there. That's where she writes her music. She writes novels and she writes music, and that's her place. I said, 'Wow, this resembles this drum room in Germany.' It had a tile floor, wooden ceiling, and stucco walls. The ambience in that room was really, really cool. It had a nice plate sound, as engineers call it. It was kind of tight. I said, 'Hey, can we record here?' and she agreed. She loved the idea, and we pulled it off. It was a lot of fun. We did it on our own time; we started in September, and I think we ended in January. Three to four months it took for us to get this record out, and mix and master it. It was a really nice environment, and she cooked for us every now and then. It was a nice hang."

On forthcoming two-track SLAYER EP:

Lombardo: "I don't know too much about it, except that I recorded my parts in April. It came from some work that Kerry [King, guitar] and I were doing that started the end of 2011. He and I got together and started working, and we decided to go into the studio and do an EP. When it's going to be released? I don't know. Is it done? I don't know. I know Tom has sung on the songs already, so they're pretty much done. Mixed? I don't know. I don't know the details. I don't know where it stands. It's all a mystery."

On the tempo of the two tracks:

Lombardo: "What's fast for SLAYER? Fast as in 'Necrophobic' (from 'Reign In Blood') fast, or fast as in 'War Ensemble' (from 'Seasons In The Abyss') fast? The first song is more of a 'War Ensemble' kind of fast. Just the pace, the tempo. That's all I can say, other than its traditional SLAYER sound and structuring. I don't remember the second song that they chose, though."

On the health of SLAYER guitarist Jeff Hanneman:

Lombardo: "He's getting better. He's just working on getting better, and that's all I can say. We want him back and want him back onstage, but he needs to get better."

On whether Jeff Hanneman's health is causing a delay in the recording of a new SLAYER studio album:

Lombardo: "I don't think so. I think things are going just as planned. We just have these shows to do. We went in and we did the EP, similar to how we did 'Psychopathy Red' in 2009 right before 'World Painted Blood' came out. We released 'Psychopathy Red' as a single, so this is similar. Everything is pretty much on track. This has nothing to do with Jeff."

This Wednesday's (June 6) "Rock Show" on Killer Bunny TV's radio channel is all about sex, shock and Satan.

Swedish Satanic sensation GHOST will haunt this week's program with private tales of assorted debauchery. "As we are fornicators and dwellers in everything that is blasphemous," one of the faceless ghouls confessed. "We have our own harem. We keep a line of both males and females because being fornicators per se, that goes both ways."

The world of band merchandise is big business for bands these days and GHOST's upcoming wild ideas might give OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt perfume of his own sweaty balls a run for its money. "We are working on extending our merchandise," the faceless ghoul continued. "Since we are working in the world of scents, we have talked about that 'cause that goes into the whole GHOST experience — Papa's balls engulfed in a scent. It'd be cheap, too."

On top of this, you'll hear what Norwegian black metal band, 1349 and Swedish black metal legend MARDUK make of the whole GHOST phenomenon. "I don't know what is so sensational about them," quipped MARDUK's guitarist Morgan Håkansson. "To me, they are just a rock band." 1349's vocalist Ravn was also a little puzzled. "From what I have heard and what I have seen, I don't get the satanic message but I am a simple man, I dont get a lot of things." he joked. "DIMMU BORGIR used to do this as well and that also proved to be very successful."

In addition, Norwegian rockers EL CACO chat with the "Rock Show" about their new Top 20 album whose content reflects the vicissitudes of their once-safe country of origin since the dark day in July last year. "I think what happened on the island of Utøya last year made us realise that we don't live in that bubble we thought we did," guitarist Anders Gjesti explained. "We are a small country and everybody knows someone who was involved. I knew people who were in the area where the bomb went off in Oslo..."

And of course, plenty of salaciously sounds from those wild and wonderful rock bands from Nordic countries...tune in or throw up, this Wednesday at 6 p.m. CET (12:00 p.m. EST) on Killer Bunny TV.

Created and hosted by producer Patrizia Mazzuoccolo (formerly of the "Tinitus" show, which aired on Norwegian national radio NRK P3), "The Rock Show" is a back-to-basic production that focuses on diversity, substance and alternative content.

U.K. doom tyrants RAMESSES are busy as ever doing the Devil's work. Hot on the heels of 2011's double shot of releases, the bludgeoning trio have announced the release of a special vinyl edition of their last full-length, "Possessed By The Rise Of Magik". This updated limited edition will feature the original songs remixed and subjected to a righteous mangling by the one and only Justin Broadrick (GODFLESH, JESU). His remixing efforts serve to enhance the audio with his uniquely dark and affecting musical perspective while maintaining the true essence of the original recordings — the way remixes should be. All in all, this double LP is drenched in mystery, malaise, and above all, supremely magickal.

Broadrick commented, "It was with great pleasure that I mixed the Ramesses album, they're my favourite dooooom band; not afraid to take chances, and not afraid to let the dope do the talking… psychedelic warlords."

"Possessed By The Rise Of Magik" has been released as a deluxe red foiled gatefold, with full-color inner sleeves. Limited to 1000, the 180-gram vinyl album is available in either coal black (800) or clear blood red (200). The first 75 orders through Ritual Productions web site will also receive the following exclusive items: one Ritual Productions/RAMESSES black tote bag, one Albedo/Negredo/Rubedo RAMESSES embroidered patch, plus one set of three foiled vinyl stickers. Act now, as these are going fast!

RAMESES is also pleased to announce a string of upcoming live actions with New Orleans' ugliest, YEHATEGOD. The twain shall meet for a series of U.K. dates (accompanied by young drug gunners DOPEFIGHT) beginning in Brighton on August 6 and running through Bristol and Manchester. After that, their next ritual is planned to occur on September 14 at Tilburg's prestigious Incubate festival, where they will perform alongside such diverse luminaries as NURSE WITH WOUND, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, CONAN, STINKING LIZAVETA, and many, many more.

Lita Ford has teamed up with producer Gary Hoey and lyricist Michael Dan Ehmig to work on "Living Like a Runaway". Together the team invested a lot of time and effort into this kick-ass project.

"We worked on the lyrics intensively to really give the songs a lot of meaning and that special emotional depth," says Lita. "I think that these are some of the best lyrics ever, period." Ford is referring to numbers such as "Devil In My Head", "Hate" and "The Asylum", which see her bare her soul in a way which she has never done before.

Unlike many albums today, "Living Like a Runaway" is an album that truly must be heard in its entirety from start to finish.

"Listeners shouldn't pick out individual tracks but listen to the full album," says Ford. "It's a fascinating musical journey, inspired by PINK FLOYD's 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. I had seen a documentary about 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and it really motivated me to focus on 'Living Like a Runaway' as a whole journey rather just an individual song."

Coinciding with the album's release, Lita will hit the road this summer with DEF LEPPARD and POISON on the "Rock Of Ages Tour".

Lita is looking forward to the tour and getting to play the new songs live.

"We are honored with this awesome tour and being able to play with these brilliant musicians," she says. "So strap in tight, it's going to be one powerful journey."

Best known for her work with THE RUNAWAYS and her solo career, including hit singles "Kiss Me Deadly" and the Billboard-charting duet with Ozzy Osbourne, "Close My Eyes Forever", Lita is ready to make a return to the throne as the queen of metal.

"Living Like A Runaway" represents a return to form for Lita, who drew inspiration from her "ugly divorce" from NITRO singer Jim Gillette.

"Gary Hoey and I wanted to approach this record by getting back to basics," she said. "We want to strip away all the electronics and plug-ins and keep it to vocals, guitar, bass, and drums. Going back to basics is going back to what punk, metal and THE RUNAWAYS was for me."

She added, "[The album title] 'Living Like A Runaway' means freedom and empowerment. To do what I want and to pursue my dreams while answering to no one."

Udine, Italy-based modern folk metal band KRAMPUS will release its first full-length album, "Survival Of The Fittest", on August 24 via NoiseArt Records. The CD was produced by KRAMPUS frontman Filippo Gianotti at Udine's Blackmirror Studios.

The band stated about the album's concept: "Krampus, thewinter demon, has survived the repression of the modern gods. Born from shamefor the mankind decay, under the cold breeze in the shades of the alps, we joinhim in his dealing out of the fallible human's just deserts. Like rootsbreaking concrete, we shake minds dulled by the weakness of present society. Wefight fearlessly for our beliefs, aiming to give back at least some of what hasbeen taken from mother nature. We kindle the embers hidden inside each andevery one of you, choked by the lies of nations: Embers of Honour, Pride, Traditions, and Freedom."

"Survival Of The Fittest" track listing:

01. Arise (The Day Of Reckoning)
02. Beast Within
03. Unspoken
04. Rebirth

German metallers PARADOX will release their new album, "Tales Of The Weird", on December 14 via AFM Records.

The track listing for the CD is as follows:

01. Tales Of The Weird
02. Day Of Judgement
03. Brutalized
04. Fragile Alliance
05. Slashdead
06. Drowning In Lies
07. Zeitgeist
08. Escalation
09. Brainwashed
10. The Downward Spiral
11. A Light In The Black (RAINBOW cover) (Japanese bonus track)

The new PARADOX lineup is as follows:

Charly Steinhauer (vocals, guitar)
Christian Muenzner (guitar)
Olly Keller (bass guitar)
Daniel "Evil Ewald" Buld (drums)

Commented new PARADOX guitarist Christian Muenzner (also of OBSCURA): "I already applied for PARADOX 10 years ago, even before I was in the band NECROPHAGIST. Logisitically this is even the closest band to where I live; we're not even 45 minutes apart, so this makes a lot of sense. Been a fan of that band for years and always wanted to play thrash, so here we go. The new songs sound fucking amazing, I'm stoked to be a part of this!"

DEVICE, the new industrial-style project featuring DISTURBED vocalist David Draiman and former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, has finished laying down vocals for demo versions of five songs that will appear on the band's debut disc:

* "You Think You Know"
* "Recover"
* "Hunted"
* "Vilify"
* "War Of Lies"

Draiman revealed the existence of the project last March, saying it would be in the vein of industrial acts like NINE INCH NAILS and MINISTRY. He later announced that Lenardo was joining the group, although further members' identities have yet to be unveiled.

DISTURBED went on an open-ended hiatus last fall, with Draiman saying at the time that all four members wanted some time to pursue other endeavors. "We've got other things that each of the band members wanted to pursue individually, outside of DISTURBED," he said. "There's other businesses we have, there's other interests. We've got futures hopefully to help cultivate for our families and our children, and they can't all revolve specifically around DISTURBED."

DISTURBED has not indicated when it plans to return, although all four members say they're likely to come back.

Aside from Draiman, DISTURBED bassist John Moyer has branched out recently by joining ADRENALINE MOB, a new group also featuring ex-DREAM THEATER and AVENGED SEVENFOLD drummer Mike Portnoy.

Poland's progressive rockers RIVERSIDE has inked a worldwide deal with InsideOut Music. The band is currently working on a new studio album for an early 2013 release. The CD will be the follow-up to 2009's "Anno Domini High Definition", which entered the chart at No. 1 in Poland and attained gold status in the band's home country.

Commented RIVERSIDE: "We're very pleased that we'll keep collaborating with InsideOut/Century Media. We've overcome many difficulties together and we hope that the new contract, signed at the moment when we start another decade as a band, will help us to grow more, and will make us able to reach a larger number of listeners with our music. The new album is on the way. I believe it will be a new beginning for RIVERSIDE."

Added Thomas Waber, founder and label manager of InsideOut Music: "RIVERSIDE is one of the most important bands on InsideOutMusic and in the current progressive rock scene. Therefore I am extremely pleased to be able to renew and continue the relationship with our friends from Poland!"

Genre-defying Denton, Texas-based experimental noise merchants SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS have inked a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band's new album is tentatively scheduled for a fall release. The CD was produced by IWRESTLEDABEARONCE guitarist Steven Bradley and was tracked at Infrasonic Sound as well as Bucket Of Truth studios in Los Angeles, California.

"We at Nuclear Blast are stoked to welcome a — well, not straight, but certainly forward thinking band like SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS to the family," stated Markus Jakob, A&R representative at Nuclear Blast in Europe. "It's always been and always will be our biggest goal to keep our roster as diverse and exciting as possible. SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS is a band that will contribute these two elements and we are extremely amazed to be working with them from now on! Keep your eyes peeled, your ears open and LET CHAOS REIGN!"

Added SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS guitarist Lee Dudley: "We're very excited to work with a label that's willing to support a band that is doing what they love no matter how weird or different the music is. We're ready to take over the world. WYLD STALLYNS!!!"

Stated keyboardist Traci Pason: "We are all beyond stoked and extremely grateful to get to work with such an amazing label. I've never drank so much champagne in my life."

Commented Bradley: "I couldn't be more excited about working on this album for my longtime friends in SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS. I've loved these guys and gal for years now, so I'm extremely stoked and honored to help record their Nuclear Blast debut. Everything so far sounds incredible, and I really think that tons of folks out there are about to discover their new favorite band."

ANIMETAL USA — the American counterpart to ANIMETAL, the Japanese heavy metal band which specialized in metal covers of popular Japanese anime/tokusatsu theme songs — will have its self-titled debut album released in the U.S. on June 26 via Century Media Records. A European release date will follow shortly thereafter.

The track listing of "Animetal USA" will be the same as that of the album that was issued in Japan, but will also include four bonus songs — "Touch", "JAM Project Medley", "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" (Japanese single version) and "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" (English version). "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" will already be familiar to anime fans, as it is the opening song to the "Naruto" spin-off, "Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals".

ANIMETAL USA is:

* Mike Vescera (OBSESSION, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, LOUDNESS) - Vocals
* Rudy Sarzo (BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, OZZY OSBOURNE, QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE, DIO) – Bass
* Jon Dette (SLAYER, TESTAMENT) - Drums
* Chris Impellitteri (IMPELLITTERI) - Guitar

ANIMETAL USA will make its U.S. live debut at the Anime Expo on June 29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Main Events/Hall G.

Commented Impellitteri: "We will be playing a lot of our metal/anime songs like 'Mazinger Medley', 'Gachaman', 'Ai Wo Torimodose' and 'Thesis Of A Cruel Angel', as well as the opening track for the next record titled 'Touch', which is pure addrenalin from start to finish."

And before all this Stateside action for the group, ANIMETAL USA will launch a co-headlining Japanese tour with JAM PROJECT — dubbed the "Japan USA Anison Summit" tour — including the following dates:

June 12 - Zepp Diver City, Tokyo
June 13 - Zepp Diver City, Tokyo
June 15 - Zepp Nagoya
June 16 - Zepp Namba, Osaka

Added Impellitteri: "It is crazy to think we can play arena shows and sell this many records when we are doing something as weird and unique as mixing metal with anime. Very strange to me, but musically this music is really challenging and exciting to perform, especially the first song on our upcoming record titled 'Touch'. The song has about 40% of an original song we wrote titled 'The Haunting'. It sounds a bit like an excited up-tempo BLACK SABBATH! The 'Touch' guitar solo is insane to play! It reminds me of the Randy Rhoads classic solo 'Mr. Crowley', which burns in the intro and then becomes very orchestrated on the second half. I definitely was listening to Randy a lot when I recorded this record... ha ha! Mike, Rudy, and Jon are also killing it on this record. Amazing rhythm section. Tight and powerful! And, as always, Mike has got walls of awesome vocals all over this record with great melody and range. The dude belongs with the THREE TENORS.

He added, "The next record which will be released towards early summer has a bit more of a commercial sound to it, with the exception of few crazy, balls-out-metal songs like 'Touch'!"

The drums on ANIMETAL USA's debut album were laid down by JUDAS PRIEST's Scott Travis. He has since been forced to leave the group due to his touring commitments with PRIEST.

In a recent interview with Playboy.com, Cruise stated about his first attempt at singing, "I knew I could hold a note. I sang in a glee club when I was 14 years old and in a high school musical. But I never had a singing lesson. No one ever taught me how to use my voice.

It was previously reported that Cruise was preparing for his role by training with Axl Rose's vocal coach. "He was an opera singer who taught me how to control my voice," Cruise said. "It's like learning a new sport or a skill for a character. I had to find out how to move air through the vocal cords and where to place it in my head, in the chest. It's something you have to do every day to strengthen your voice."

The first song Cruise sang in front of a crowd was "Pour Some Sugar On Me", with members of DEF LEPPARD watching him.

"I was down in Miami, recording different songs, and Adam [Shankman, director] called and said, 'DEF LEPPARD's coming by the set,'" Cruise told Playboy.com. "I said, 'Man, that's cool.' Then I paused. 'Wait, I'm rehearsing their song tomorrow.' And he's like, 'Yeah!' [laughs] So we started right in the deep end, and that was the first scene I shot in the movie. It's a great song, and I grew up listening to them. They went to the back of the Bourbon Room, and I looked at my band and was like, 'Hit it.' All the crew was watching them watching me. . . [After the song was done] the lead singer, Joe Elliott, points at me and goes, 'Fuck you! Fuck you!' Then I saw big smiles on their faces, and I realized I'd gotten their stamp. It was a very cool moment. It was important they knew I was honoring their music and not making fun of them."

DEF LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen recently told VH1 Classic Rock Nights that Cruise "was a super-lovely guy" when they met. Collen added, "I was so impressed because he hadn't sung before and he had vocal lessons. He was literally doing five hours a day, five days a week, like truly real, getting in there and doing it. And we saw him and he was amazing, it was like Iggy Pop meets someone else and he's in great shape and it was like, 'What!?!' It was surreal, but he really pulls it off and it was like he's a total rock star."

Tom Cruise stars in "Rock Of Ages" as Stacee Jaxx, an aging musician whose glory days are long past.

Adam Anders, executive music producer for the film and album, recently told The Hollywood Reporter about Cruise's vocal skills, "He had never sung in his life. He was like, 'I need to know that I can do this before I sign on.' So I went to his house to hear him sing and even though he was completely green as a singer, his vocal cords were amazing. He had this voice that blew me away. It was the most powerful voice I had ever heard. So loud. He could do anything and go as high as we wanted. It was like a kid discovering he had a new toy. I left there super-pumped knowing that not only could we make him pass as a singer in the movie, but we would blow people away with what he could do."

He added, "[Tom's] confidence kept growing as we worked together. I think he started off a little nervous, as anybody would who has never done this, but he just bought it 110%. He works harder than anybody I've ever met in my life. By the end of this movie, the guy was just phenomenal. I remember telling him, 'You're a singer!'"

"Rock Of Ages" also stars Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman and many others. It scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 15.

Portland rock band EMBERGHOST has announced the addition of keyboardist and backing vocalist Kristen Randall (ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, WINDS OF PLAGUE) to the group's ranks.

EMBERGHOST lost its female keyboardist and co-vocalist Sarah Jennings to cancer in 2010. And while Sarah can never be replaced, Kristen's passion, style, talent, and dedication make her a worthy addition to the band, and Randall understands fully the large shoes she is filling.

Kristen is already collaborating with EMBERGHOST on their current project, "Not Long For This Earth", which is an acoustic retrospective celebrating their work with Sarah. Upon completion of the project, for which the band is currently raising money on Kickstarter, Kristen will join the new lineup (some new members are yet to be announced) as they write, record, and perform brand new material.

Transcend Music has announced a major restructuring program incorporating new signings and streamlining measures which strengthen its position as a force to be reckoned with at the business end of rock and metal. The new measures see Transcend absorbing the associated businesses of renowned management companies The Legacy Agency and RMR Management, strengthening their artist roster and offering a variety of unique acts. Coupled with this, Transcend Music has confirmed new signing MALEFICE. who are currently touring the U.K. before heading back into the studio to complete their third album.

The all-new Transcend roster now includes classic acts such as FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM and VIKING SKULL, alongside metal stalwarts like SACRED MOTHER TONGUE, MALEFICE and recently reformed BOSSK, mixing it up with some of the hottest new acts on the scene in the shape of THE DIRTY YOUTH, HEIGHTS and HEART OF A COWARD.

Transcend head honcho Rob Ferguson said of the changes: "We recognize that the music industry is changing, and our business model has been re-drawn in order to embrace these changes. The focus of our business is the talent we are nurturing and we firmly believe that our current roster represents some of the very best in classic and contemporary rock and metal artists. We are not a record company in the traditional sense and we are not just a management company. We are a total music company offering positive solutions to enhance, encourage and grow the careers of those who work with us. We have an amazing team of fiercely passionate and enthusiastic individuals who are ready to take on the world!"

MALEFICE's third full-length album, "Awaken The Tides", was released in July 2011 via Metal Blade Records. The 10-song effort was recorded at The Face studios in Reading with drums laid down at Fortress Studios in London. All tracks were mixed and mastered by Justin Hill.

Screaming Records is issuing new, old and borrowed material from none other than the legendary death 'n' rollers from Sweden — ENTOMBED.

While putting final touches to their next full-length album, which is slated for a spring 2013 release, the band has chosen to issue two singles; one is a digital release of a reworked version of the song "Amok", and the other is a limited seven-inch deluxe vinyl single entitled "When In Sodom Revisited". Due on June 25, the three-track, 70-gram release includes a remixed and remastered version of the original "When In Sodom" track as well as an alternate version composed, performed and recorded by Danish artist and sound designer Klaus "Q" Hedegaard Nielsen (BETA SATAN, THE MALPRACTICE). To round out the seven-inch, ENTOMBED entered the studio to record an honorable version of the KING DIAMOND signature song "Welcome Home". As a result, this will actually become the first release by ENTOMBED in the current lineup — with Victor Brandt (TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER, AEON, SATYRICON) and second guitarist Nico Elgstrand (who previously played bass for the group).

"When In Sodom Revisited" comes as a one-off print of 475 hand-numbered copies on heavyweight silver colored vinyl. The sleeve has been cut extra thick and comes with a 3-mm spine. It will not come with a dropcard and there will not be a digital release.

Legendary Swedish death metallers GRAVE will release their new album, "Endless Procession Of Souls", on August 27th in Europe and on August 28th in North America via Century Media Records. The band recorded 12 songs — nine new tracks plus three "very special" cuts — at their own Studio Soulless for the CD< which was previously described by GRAVE guitarist/vocalist Ola Lindgren: "a mix of our latest two releases with some more old-school, groovy 'Soulless' parts."

According to a press release, "Endless Procession Of Souls" "promises to be yet another death metal masterpiece in GRAVE's revered catalog, featuring nine tracks of uncompromising no-bullshit death metal, flawlessly executed by the sole survivors of the real legendary Swedish Dödsmetal scene. 'Endless Procession Of Souls' combines the brutality of GRAVE's last two studio albums with the groove of 'Soulless' and — of corpse — a lethal dose of 'Into The Grave' darkness."

In support of this upcoming release, GRAVE will tour North America with MORBID ANGEL and DARK FUNERAL this September/October.

Commented Lindgren, "GRAVE will return to North America in September, sharing the madness with our comrades in MORBID ANGEL and DARK FUNERAL.

"After the successful 'Into The Grave' sets we did in September last year, it will be very exciting to come back to promote the new album, 'Endless Procession Of Souls'. This killer bill is in extremo deluxe and will show you what brutality is all about...Beware the Winds of Chains!"

GRAVE recently parted ways with its guitarist of three years, Magnus Martinsson.

GRAVE's current lineup is as follows:

Ola Lindgren - Guitar/Vocals
Mika Lagrén - Guitar
Ronnie Bergerstål - Drums
Tobias Cristiansson – Bass

GRAVE's November 12, 2011 concert at Club Distortion/Kulturhuset in Stockholm, Sweden was filmed for future release. The band celebrated the 20th anniversary of its classic 1991 debut album, "Into The Grave", by performing the LP in its entirety, along with "another handful classic tunes."

GRAVE in September 2011 completed a North American headlining tour with support from BLOOD RED THRONE, PATHOLOGY and GIGAN.
