Former BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN & HELL and current KILL DEVIL HILL drummer Vinny Appice says that it would be hard to turn down the opportunity to play with BLACK SABBATH again if he was asked to replace original SABBATH drummer Bill Ward , who announced in February that he could not participate in the planned reunion of the band's founding lineup.

"Everybody goes: Well, If you did get asked, would you do it?" Vinny tells Powerline in a brand new interview. "And how could you turn it down? It's part of rock history. It's probably the last album they'll ever make, so who wouldn't want to do it? But I wouldn't want to stop my [new] band [KILL DEVIL HILL] in its tracks. What am I gonna do, stop this and do that? I would say, if it was to happen, it would have to be both things, you know. With my band, maybe we can be on some of the dates and whatever… But it's not gonna happen anyway, because they're moving on. I don't know what's going on, but obviously they're moving on, so … And I got this and I'm stoked, you know. This is my dream right here."

KILL DEVIL HILL — the band featuring Appice, Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN) on bass, Mark Zavon (RATT, W.A.S.P., 40 CYCLE HUM) on guitar and Jason "Dewey" Bragg (PISSING RAZORS) on vocals — will release its debut album on May 22 via SPV/Steamhammer.

"I always dreamed I would have my own band," Appice tells Powerline. "And I did have bands in Brooklyn where I grew up but my dream was to make it in the business with my own band. And then I had a band called AXIS and that was becoming a dream but we couldn't do it. It was hard. And I had gotten in Rick Derringer's band, then we broke up and I went back to AXIS and try to make it happen, then I got a call from BLACK SABBATH, so that interrupted that. And then BLACK SABBATH lasted, then Ronnie [Dio] wanted to do a new band so, of course, I'm gonna go with Ronnie. So I always ended up playing with other legendary people, and never had the chance to do my own band. I did it a couple times with WORLD WAR III and a band called 3 LEGGED DOGG, but it just wasn't right at the time. It just fell apart. And then this thing, I still dream about having my own band, you know. And a great band, musically. And this [KILL DEVIL HILL] is more than what I expected. It's perfect."

When asked if Ward will participate in SABBATH's upcoming U.K. and U.S. shows, Ozzy Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon, told VH1 Radio Network, "We don't know yet, we really don't know. It's up to Bill. The door is open for him to join us, so it's up to him."

Meanwhile, Ozzy, Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler are in London continuing to record their first album together in 33 years, although without Ward it is not the original SABBATH reunion announced last November.

Sharon said about the recording sessions, "It's going good. They're doing really well in the studio. Gosh, they must've written 15 new songs already and it's going great."

She also denied that she was responsible for Ward's current absence from the project, saying, "Everybody's got their own manager, so we have an independent group of people that have come in to manage the project, and I don't, and I get the blame because Bill doesn't want to play with the band; he doesn't like his deal and I get the blame. It's like, 'All right, I'm a big girl, I can take it.'"

Ward has been sitting out the sessions due to being offered what he called "an unsignable contract" in an open letter to SABBATH fans.

Ward posted an update on February 17 in which he said he "remains hopeful" for a positive outcome to the situation.

The rest of SABBATH's scheduled European summer gigs will be replaced by "Ozzy And Friends", at which the singer will be joined by Butler, former Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde and other special guests, including Slash on selected dates.

Rock icon Ozzy Osbourne — who served as 2011's Record Store Day Ambassador — will again support the day's fifth annual celebration with two releases: "Ozzy Live", a double LP set taken from 2011's "Blizzard Of Ozz"/"Diary Of A Madman" 30th Anniversary Collector Box, and a seven-inch live version of "Diary Of A Madman"'s classic Ozzy track "Believer". Both are limited-edition, numbered vinyl editions which contain never-before- published archival photos.

Beyond the live music, side 4 of the double LP features the 2010 Guitar & Vocal Mix of "Goodbye to Romance", along with the lost Randy Rhoads guitar solo "RR".

In another first, the seven-inch vinyl live version of "Believer", taken from the "Ozzy Live" CD, will be issued as a special polka-dot picture disc, inspired by Randy Rhoads' famous polka dot guitar. The track is being released to honor the 30th anniversary (March 19) of the acclaimed guitarist's passing.

Both are available for Record Store Day 2012:

According to Yahoo! Music, QUEEN's Brian May and Roger Taylor will return to "American Idol" next Wednesday, April 25 to perform with the show's top six finalists. The following evening (April 26) will include a performance by The Queen Extravaganza, the spectacular touring concert show designed to take the glorious music and the live experience of legends of rock QUEEN to generations of fans in cities coast-to-coast across the U.S. and Canada.

As previousy reported, Taylor and May will play four shows with "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert in June and early July. On tap is a June 30 show in Moscow, a concert with Elton John in Kiev as well as two early July shows at the Hammersmith Apollo in London to provide "some alternative... for some of the people who had bought tickets" to the recently canceled Sonisphere festival, where QUEEN was supposed to be one of the headliners.

METALLICA has confirmed that it has signed on to be part of the upcoming Ronnie James Dio tribute album which is being assembled by the singer's widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio.

"We reached out to Wendy Dio about wanting to be a part of the Dio tribute that's getting put together," METALLICA singer James Hetfield tells U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. "We're very honoured to be a part of that, and to be a part of a celebration of Ronnie's life and his great contribution, man."

"We're definitely looking to do the record Wendy's putting together for Ronnie," adds Lars. "We were asked if we'd contribute to the anniversary of [classic DEEP PURPLE album] 'Machine Head', too — we can't turn that down. We're circling the Dio and PURPLE catalogues and hopefully we'll come up with something that is worthy of these wonderful men."

Other artists that will appear on the Dio tribute album include ANTHRAX, JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford, MOTÖRHEAD's Lemmy Kilmister, DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan, Alice Cooper, Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW), Chris Jericho (FOZZY) and Dave Grohl (NIRVANA, FOO FIGHTERS).

"I'm letting them pick what songs they wanna do in the way they wanna do it," Wendy told Artisan News at this past December's Dimebash event in Hollywood, California.

Tentatively due before the end of the year, the Dio tribute album will see Grohl covering BLACK SABBATH's "The Mob Rules" and Halford contributing a version of RAINBOW's "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll".

Ronnie James Dio, best known for his work with BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW and his own band DIO, died of stomach cancer on May 16, 2010 at the age of 67.

Legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES) will release his second solo album, "Apocalyptic Love", on May 22 via his own label Dik Hayd International distributed through EMI.

"Apocalyptic Love" was recorded like a live performance record where the band was all set up in a big room at Barefoot Studios in Los Angeles. The liberated feel of "Apocalyptic Love" is evident throughout the LP's 13 songs, as is the genuine chemistry between Slash and Myles.

The evolution of their creative relationship went full throttle since the two first joined forces on Slash's 2010 debut solo release where the ALTER BRIDGE frontman lent his pipes to the cavalcade of venerable guest vocalists which included Iggy Pop, Ian Astbury and Ozzy Osbourne. Slash's debut landed on The Billboard 200 chart at #3 (#1 on the Rock chart, #1 on the Independent chart, and #1 on the Hard Music chart). Digitally, it became the #1 overall digital album and hit #1 on iTunes in 13 countries. "I contacted him out of the blue, sent him one of the songs I was working on which turned out later to be 'Starlight'," Slash says. After Myles contributed his ideas and sent it back to Slash, creative forces congealed. "I went, 'Wow, that's really good," recalls Slash. "We flew Myles out to track it and this unassuming mild mannered guy shows up, similar in demeanor to me, sort of quiet, not really explosive in personality. He then nailed 'Back from Cali' and it was like, 'Would you like to do a tour with me?' I was so happy when he accepted the offer." For the Spokane-born lead singer, the gig was an opportunity to expand his personal portfolio while exploring some musical synergy with an artist he'd long admired. Over the next 18 months, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and THE CONSPIRATORSMyles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums) and Todd Kerns (bass) — toured the world on the album evolving into the tight-knit rock group they are today.

On Sunday, May 13, fans will get an early glimpse of the thunderous power of the band by celebrating the U.S. premiere of the concert special "Slash featuring Myles Kennedy Live: Made in Stoke" airing on HDNet at 8:00 p.m. EDT. Slash and his band tear through cuts spanning his 20-year career with GUNS N' ROSES (nine GN'R songs will be featured) as well as songs from VELVET REVOLVER, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and Slash's first solo album. Songs performed include "By The Sword", "Back From Cali", "Slither", "Sweet Child 'O Mine", "Paradise City" and more that reverberate through the rafters of the sold-out Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent, England, Slash's birthplace.

On Saturday, May 19, the group will appear on DIRECTV's The Audience Network for the season premiere of "Guitar Center Sessions" airing at 8:00 p.m. ET. For the first time ever, Slash and the band will perform an acoustic set spanning new songs and classics. Slash and Myles Kennedy also sit down for an intimate behind the scenes interview with renowned music journalist and "Guitar Center Sessions" host Nic Harcourt.

In touring news, Slash and the band will kick off a headlining U.S. tour May 3 in Baltimore. The trek will encompass three festival appearances: Saturday, May 5 at Carolina Rebellion; Saturday, May 19 at Rock On The Range; and Friday, May 25 at Rocklahoma. Also on tap is a special CD release show set for Tuesday, May 22 — the day the album streets— in New York City at Irving Plaza.

Philip Anselmo (DOWN, PANTERA, ARSON ANTHEM, SUPERJOINT RITUAL) and legendary BLACK SABBATH/HEAVEN & HELL bassist Geezer Butler made special guest appearances at the third installment of Samson's "Metal Masters" series, which was held on April 12 at the Key Club on the famed Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, California.

Anselmo joined David Ellefson (MEGADETH), Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER), Frank Bello (ANTHRAX), Charlie Benante (ANTHRAX), Kerry King (SLAYER) and Chris Broderick (MEGADETH) to perform SLAYER's "Raining Blood" and "Angel Of Death" as well as the PANTERA classics "A New Level", "Mouth For War", "Walk" and "This Love". Butler then got up on stage with all the other musicians to close out the night with a cover of BLACK SABBATH's "Hole In The Sky" — complete with Anselmo on lead vocals.

Speaking to the Artisan News, Ellefson said about Anselmo's involvement with the event, "It was kind of a way to revisit the past in a way that was friendly for him. Obviously, there is a long past there with PANTERA and with everything, and we're all friends with all the guys in the band. So it was a nice time to, I think, maybe offer something for him that was held in high celebration and to be able to come out and sing those songs. We're all fans of those songs."

He added, "It's funny — PANTERA kind of came up the ranks behind all of us, but they were so powerful and had such an impact, and their music was just great — the riffing, and [late PANTERA guitarist] Dime's guitar playing and the drumming; everything about it was just so powerful — that we became fans of it. So it's kind of cool that something that followed us actually ended up kind of in front us at one point."
Season 4 of "Metalocalypse" — the smash hit animated series on Adult Swim featuring the fictitious metal band DETHKLOK — premieres Sunday, April 29 at 12:15 a.m. ET/PT. This season will include special guest voice work from members of SOUNDGARDEN and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD; American stand-up comedian, writer, actor and voice actor Patton Oswalt; musician Dweezil Zappa; and Jon Hamm of "Mad Men".

"Metalocalypse" co-creator Brendon Small spoke about the show's upcoming season and BRENDON SMALL'S GALAKTIKON "A High Stakes Intergalactic Extreme Rock Album", the debut release from his long-awaited side project, during an interview with Metal Injection conducted at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods awards, which was held on April 11 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, California. You can now watch the chat below.

Brutality wields its uncomfortable deth-hammer in the fourth season of "Metalocalypse". Excruciating horrors loom, waiting for the right moment to crush us all into a smooth repugnant paste, with very few lumps. Experience the lurking blackness of dating, the vomitous torture of job insecurity, the repulsive abhorrence of reality, the emasculating woe of dating a co-worker, and the pinching, sweaty waking DETH of flying coach. Will our beloved DETHKLOK survive these deathly trials or will they perish like a flaming serpent cast down by Odin? The Metalocalypse indeed looms nearer.

Created by Small and Tommy Blacha ("Da Ali G Show"), the "Metalocalypse" television series launched in 2006. One of the most popular series on the cable network, "Metalocalypse" portrays DETHKLOK as a Norwegian band with unheard-of popularity, even ranking them as the seventh-largest economy on earth.

"Metalocalypse" is produced at Titmouse Inc. in Hollywood, California.

The Nerdist YouTube channel debuted on April 2 with a stellar lineup of programming that includes talent such as "Weird Al" Yankovic, Kids In The Hall, Harry Knowles and more. The latest addition to the channel's fantastic program is "Blood And Guts", a web series hosted by ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian.

In the series, Ian will meet with movie f/x artists to teach viewers how to create realistic-looking horror makeup.

When asked how his collaboration with Nerdist came about, Ian told Nerdist.com, "Just out of the blue last week, [Nerdist founder] Chris [Hardwick] hit me up and asked me if it was something I'd be interested in. He felt my personality was right for this. I guess the backstory on it would be that when they first came up with the idea for 'Talking Dead', I got a call about shooting the pilot, and my job was field reporter. What they did for my segment was send me out to the set of one of the webisodes, and then Greg Nicotero and his team made me up as a zombie and I got to be a walker. I had closeups and everything in the webisode. When it got picked up, they didn't keep me as field reporter — that position, I guess, wasn't something they were gonna move forward with — but Chris just kept it in the back of his mind. I can only assume that when Nerdist and Fangoria had the idea to do this show, Chris said I'd be the right guy to be going out and hosting these things because of the bit I did on 'Talking Dead'."

On the topic of his favorite horror make-up moments of all time, Ian said, "The first thing to pop into my mind is when Tom Savini gets torn apart in 'Dawn Of The Dead'. That scared me as a kid and I guess you could kinda say it stayed with me in a good way. The scene in 'Scanners' when his head blows up, that's a classic. Anything in 'Evil Dead' or 'Evil Dead 2'. I know I mentioned this, but I just watched 'Drive' last week and that scene where she gets her head blown off is straight out of an '80s horror movie. The movie's not necessarily slow, but very Michael Mann, '80s kinda pacing, very moody and all that — and then all of a sudden that hotel-room scene happens and you're just, like, 'Holy crap!' and then from there it's just 100 miles an hour. I was blown away with that movie."

Loyal Studios in Burbank has become a favorite for artists looking to produce high-definition greenscreen music videos. The two stages in Burbank and Santa Monica have a history of hosting great talents from Snoop Dogg, to Jason Bonham, to Ray J and Bret Michaels, as well as producing videos for Nicole Sherzinger, LMFAO, ODD FUTURE and NEVERSHOUTNEVER.

The metal juggernaut known as HELLYEAH — featuring Vinnie Paul Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN), Chad Gray and Greg Tribbett (MUDVAYNE), Tom Maxwell (NOTHINGFACE) and Bob "Zilla" Kakaha (DAMAGEPLAN) — is the latest to join the ranks on their way to their Asian tour to shoot a high-concept video for their new album, "Band Of Brothers".

"HELLYEAH rocked our studios hard," says producer and CEO of Loyal Studios, Bob Bekian. "With our 2000-watt amplified playback system, the parking lot was literally shaking! We shot this project with a series of cameras including the Canon 5D with Zeiss prime lenses combined with the new RED digital Scarlett," Bekian added.

Loyal Studios is a favorite for music video productions because of the high level of technical equipment and crew available to produce videos with the latest visual effects ("VFX") and style. The studio quickly gained a reputation for being a place that has the best cameras, crews and technical support as well as a place where artists feel comfortable and free to express themselves. The new addition of a complete post-production and editing studio inside the shooting location combined with their 75 HD camera systems has put Loyal Studios into a unique position to be able to offer a one-stop shop for producers.

HELLYEAH's video for the song "Band Of Brothers" was filmed on March 26. The clip was directed by David Brodsky of MyGoodEye, who has previously worked with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, GOATWHORE, MUNICIPAL WASTE and SUFFOCATION, among many others.

A few photos from the video shoot can be seen below.

"Band Of Brothers" is the title track of HELLYEAH's new album, which will be released on July 17 via HELLYEAH's new label home, Eleven Seven Music. The CD was recorded in Dallas, Texas at Vinnie Paul's home studio, VP's Upstairs Studio, and was produced by the band and Jeremy Parker (GODSMACK, EVANESCENCE), who also served as engineer.

In a recent interview with Loudwire, Vinnie stated about "Band Of Brothers", "On our first two records, we were a new band. We really wanted to branch out and expand and experiment with all different styles. We all come from traditional metal bands and backgrounds, so it was a great breath of fresh air to play in a band that was rock 'n' roll, blues and Southern rock. We got that out of our system and got really focused on going back to our metal roots. It's heavy, focused, groove-oriented and I'm excited about it."

According to Metal Sludge, original RATT bassist Juan Croucier is rumored to be rejoining the Californian rockers for their upcoming show at the M3 Rock Festival, set to take place on May 11-12 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

In an October 2011 interview with Legendary Rock Interviews, Croucier stated about the possibility of him returning to RATT, "I never say never, because I can't predict the future but there have been some very nasty things said and done to me by my former bandmates in RATT. It has destroyed the trust, bond and respect we once had among each other."

He added, "I have had many offers to go back to RATT (ironically, sometimes while they were deriding me in the press at the same time) and the main reason I have not gone back to the band is because we had a very problematic situation in the first place, and nothing had (or has) changed — we don't get along, it's not fun and things that should be easy are hard. . . Some people like being in tumultuous relationships; I don't. I have been fortunate enough to be able to work in my recording studio, still play in bands and be a father that is present in my children's lives at the same time. It's not 'all about Juan.'"

Bassist Robbie Crane, who had played with RATT since 1997, quit the band last month to focus on LYNCH MOB. During an appearance on the March 22 edition of the "Headbangers At 11" show on the 93.3 KDKB radio station with host Mike Gaube, Crane stated about his decision to leave RATT, "I've been playing in LYNCH MOB since October of 2010. It's a thing that I've always loved doing, and I love playing with the band. . I'd been with RATT for 15 years and it was time to move on. I love being in LYNCH MOB and this is where my heart's at."

"Infestation", the first studio record in 11 years from RATT, sold around 14,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 30 on the Billboard 200 chart. The CD was released on April 20, 2010 via Loud & Proud.

"Infestation" was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette (CHEVELLE, ALTER BRIDGE) at his Virginia studio, marking the first time the band has recorded outside of Los Angeles. The album is full of attitude and of reflection, cycling through a range of emotions. There are party anthems that RATT are known for alongside more contempl"Stalingrad", the new album from reformed heavy metal legends ACCEPT, has registered the following first-week chart positions:

Commented ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffman: "ACCEPT and Andy Sneap have the perfect synergy. This was so clear with 'Blood Of The Nations' and we are excited to continue on that path. Andy is not only an amazing and prolific producer but also a very good friend who has long become a member of the ACCEPT family."

Regarding the musical direction of ACCEPT's new album, Hoffmann told The Rock Pit last year, "We're just gonna have the same attitude, the approach; we're just gonna do more of the same, you know, without it being the same. More similar-style stuff, hopefully fresh new ideas. And I mean, we're not gonna… The intention is not to change it right now. I mean, why would we? . . . But I have to say, it's always easier said than done. It's incredibly difficult to write songs that are sort of reminiscent of the past but they're not, you know, rip-offs of your own music. That sounds incredibly very simple, but it's really not, especially if you have a sort of history of 15 albums or whatever we have. Then there are always similarities that you have to avoid. It can't be too close, but it can't be too far away from it. So it's a pretty fine line that you have to walk sometimes, but, you know, hopefully we'll manage again."

ACCEPT 2012 is:

Wolf Hoffmann: Guitar
Peter Baltes: Bass
Herman Frank: Guitar
Mark Tornillo: Vocals
Stefan Schwarzmann: Drumsative, thoughtful tunes.

Jeb Wright of Classic Rock Revisited recently conducted an interview with GREAT WHITE guitarist Mark Kendall. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Classic Rock Revisited: Before we talk about the elephant in the room, named Jack Russell, let's talk about getting Terry Ilous [XYZ] in the band. He has a good pedigree. How did you sucker him into being on the new album ["Elation"]?

Mark: Terry helped us out in 2009 when he filled some obligations when Jack had to cancel shows, and that worked out well. It wasn't really a case of suckering him in, as we all got along and he was just killer in our live shows. The feedback we were, and are, getting from promoters, fans and radio people has been quite favorable. I think Terry really loves our music and work ethic.

Classic Rock Revisited: Jack is a huge part of GREAT WHITE's past. He is the voice that everyone knows and has been the face of the band. Why couldn't it work with him anymore?

Mark: We had been waiting for it to work for the last thee years, and then we heard via a Facebook post that he had a new band.

Classic Rock Revisited: On "That Metal Show", Jack said he is clean and sober. To your knowledge, is that true?

Mark: I didn't actually see that yet. What did he look like to you? I hope so, and I really mean that. I would love to see him healthy again.

Classic Rock Revisited: He also claimed you will basically do whatever will pay you the most money. In my dealings with you I have not seen that side of you. What do you think he meant by that?

Mark: First of all, I am a guitar player. I play in the band GREAT WHITE and that, and the fans, have always been my priority. I can't speak for him, so I am not sure why he says some of these things. In this case, I have no idea, whatsoever, what he is even talking about.

Classic Rock Revisited: At what point does integrity come into the game? Is there a point where one side, or the other, should say, "This isn't the way to do this? It is not right for the fans and it is not right for our legacy." Is there a point people should walk away from this?

Mark: I am pretty sure that we just made the best record we've made in 20-plus years, and that's the only integrity I hold on to. It's always been a priority to make the best music we can make, for the fans, and we just did that. I have no control over Jack, or what he does. In this case, it wasn't a "we" situation. I am in this band to kick maximum ass... the end.

Classic Rock Revisited: Is there anything Jack could do that would change your mind and have him rejoin GREAT WHITE?

Mark: Time can be healing, and you never know what can happen. I don't, however, envision it happening soon, if it does. He is suing us, and it probably could have been worked out, but now we have to respond to his case.

Full In Bloom recently conducted an interview with GREAT WHITE singer Jack Russell. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Full In Bloom: What's the latest with the GREAT WHITE lawsuit? Initially it came out that you were ok with them using the name GREAT WHITE and that you wanted to tour as JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE. Then the band announced they would be doing a new record with XYZ vocalist Terry Illous, which resulted with you filing to prevent them from using the name.

Jack: Well, yeah, putting an album out as GREAT WHITE... that's not GREAT WHITE. Now they're having a 30th anniversary. Who are they kidding?! 30th anniversary of what? I fired them all. How can they have an anniversary if they're all fired? I fired them on December 10th. But they obviously don't want to be fired. Prior to that, they tried to file for the [GREAT WHITE] trademark without me. I could not believe it; my gut was so upset. I had tears in my eyes... I couldn't believe these guys were my friends. OK, I cost them some money but then again, I allowed them to go out with other singers. I called Jani [Lane, former WARRANT singer who passed away in August 2011] and said, "Do me a favor and go out and fill in for me while I get well, so these guys don't lose money." Then Terry came in and I was cool with that, too. In retrospect, I should have said no...."You wait for me until I come back." But that's not who I am....I don't want to stop them from earning a living, but they sure wanted to stop me. I'm getting e-mails from these guys: "You can only go out there as Jack Russell, formerly of GREAT WHITE," from a manager who has only been with the band for the last few years. Screw you, buddy. Honest to God, these moves that I am making are not out of animosity. I mean it. They are just business decisions. Those guys cannot be GREAT WHITE. There already are too many people going, "Which version of the band are you in?" It's ridiculous. They need to call it something else. It's a different singer.....and the singer is the one element of the band you cannot change without completely changing the sound of the band. I don't care how great the singer is, or how bad. I don't care if you put Steven Tyler in RATT, it ain't gonna be RATT.

Full In Bloom: It sounds like the Mark Kendall's GREAT WHITE is pretty close to releasing a new album.

Jack: That's not going to happen. We're fighting that tooth and nail....it's a complete farce.

Full In Bloom: Are you pursuing the rights to use the name GREAT WHITE?

Jack: Oh yeah. I do want the name now. If they would have called me up before all this happened and said, "Hey, Jack, you know what, man?! We're just sick of you, we can't stand you, we hate your guts, but we know where we've been, so let's try to figure out an amicable way so that we can both use the name." We probably could have figured something out. But the fact that they went behind my back and filed for the trademark, that's just totally deceptive, that ain't right.

Full In Bloom: There was a recent interview with guitarist Mark Kendall where he was saying that you joined his band which later became GREAT WHITE.

Jack: I joined his band. (laughs) No way. He was in a cover band and he kept bugging me to sing for him and I didn't want to do it because he was in a crosstown rival band. I had never heard them but, of course, they sucked because they were our rivals. That was when I was in a band with Audie. I finally went and checked out Mark's band and the band kind of sucked, but he played me some of his own stuff and I said, "You quit these guys, I'll quit my band and we'll start our own band." That's exactly as it happened, may God strike me dead. Then Don Dokken was the one that initiated us getting started here, he brought Alan Niven down to see us. The Dokken connection came from Gary Holland, who had played in DOKKEN over in Europe. I've heard Mark try to take credit for that. No. I just talked to Don the other day and asked him to refresh my memory. He said, "I met you guys through Gary Holland and I came down to the studio, heard you sing, loved the voice and said I wanted to work with these guys." Then he introduced us to Alan Niven and he wanted to sign us to Greenworld. They didn't want us, so he quit. He said, "I don't know what I'm going to do now, I don't have a job," and I said, "Why don't you be our manager." He said, "I don't know anything about managing," and I said, "Well, you're going to learn." And learn he did — he became one of the best managers in rock and roll.

According to CNN, the U.S. Secret Service has "resolved" the issue over comments Ted Nugent made at the annual meeting of the National Rifle Association, which took place on April 14 in St. Louis, Missouri.

"The issue has been resolved," and the agency "does not anticipate any further action," Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary told CNN after meeting with the legendary rocker.

Earlier Thursday, Nugent — who was in Ardmore, Oklahoma for a performance — issued a statement of his own, writing, "I met with two fine, professional Secret Service agents. Good, solid, professional meeting concluding that I have never made any threats of violence towards anyone."

He added, "The meeting could not have gone better. I thanked them for their service, we shook hands and went about our business. Godbless the good federal agents wherever they may be."

While attending the National Rifle Association convention, Nugent, who has endorsed Mitt Romney in the general election, said, among other things, "If you don't know that our government is wiping its ass with the constitution, you're living under a rock. . . I'll tell you this right now: if Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. . . Our president, and attorney general, our vice president, Hillary Clinton — they're criminals. We're Americans because we defied the king. . . We are patriots, we are bravehearts. We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Any questions?"

Nugent told told conservative radio host Glenn Beck on Wednesday the comments were in no way a physical threat toward Obama. He reiterated that again in his Thursday statement.

"By no stretch of the imagination did I threaten anyone's life, or hint at violence or mayhem," Nugent wrote. "Metaphors needn't be explained to educated people."

According to Wave3.com, legendary rocker Ted Nugent was dropped from the June 23 concert at Fort Knox Godman Airfield in Fort Knox, Kentucky after he made comments that some perceived as a threat against President Barack Obama.

Co-headliners REO SPEEDWAGON and STYX remain scheduled to perform at the show. A replacement for Nugent may be selected.

Those requesting a refund for their purchased tickets to the Fort Knox concert must do so by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-653-8000 or the Fort Knox Information, Ticketing and Registration Office at 502-624-5030 by May 31.

"By no stretch of the imagination did I threaten anyone's life, or hint at violence or mayhem," Nugent wrote. "Metaphors needn't be explained to educated people."

Ted Nugent told The Pulse Of Radio that he can't believe how anything he says seems to be automatically cast in a negative light. "I mean, it's just insanity how they immediately reduce everything I do to homophobic, sexist, racist, and shameless self-promotion," he said.

Legendary rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose (MONTROSE, GAMMA) has been playing music for over 40 years, and believe it or not, "Live At The Uptown" is the one and only live DVD recording of his career, which sadly ended on March 3 when he committed suicide after a five-year battle with prostate cancer.

Ronnie and his band created a very wonderful evening filmed at the Uptown Theater in Napa, California this past January 27, 2012. This DVD includes acoustic pieces, songs you never heard him perform before, and ones you haven't heard him do for years and years and years.

Ronnie rocked the house with a great set list that included many of his big hit songs, including "Rock the Nation", "I Got The Fire", "Make It Last", "20 Flight", "I Don't Want It", "Space Age Sacrifice", "Rock Candy", "Bad Motor Scooter" and "Good Rockin' Tonight".

"Live At The Uptown" will begin shipping on May 1 and is available as a regular DVD, DVD with limited poster and DVD with limited edition poster (no metallic). The limited edition, numbered poster is 12.5" x 19", black Speckletone paper, with three-color — "a very special and historic item!"

"Phantom Antichrist", the new video from German thrash metal veterans KREATOR, will make its online debut on May 3. The clip was helmed by Poland's Grupa 13, which has previously worked with BEHEMOTH, ELUVEITIE, SONATA ARCTICA and DECAPITATED, among others.

Commented KREATOR guitarist/vocalist Miland "Mille" Petrozza: "The clips produced by Grupa 13 are groundbreaking visual trips that justify the existence of music videos in this day and age. In support of the lyrical concept of our new album, I could not think of a better creative solution than a collaboration with these great visionaries."

A short snippet of "Phantom Antichrist" can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The track is being released April 20 on seven-inch colored vinyl (already sold out) and as a digital download via iTunes, Amazon and various other digital music providers. The release also includes the exclusive IRON MAIDEN cover "The Number Of The Beast".

A brand new promotional photo of KREATOR can be seen below (photo by Stefan Heilemann of Stuttgart, Germany's Heilemania).

When asked about the musical direction of KREATOR's new material, Petrozza stated in a recent interview, "I think it's OK to say that this will be our most epic album so far. There's some classical, a lot of traditional metal, and, of course, a huge dose of thrash metal influences in the new stuff."

Speaking to Aftonbladet journalist Mattias Kling, Petrozza stated about KREATOR's collaboration with Jens Bogren, "He's really good; I like him. I like the sounds that he gets. And I think the combination — Jens Bogren and KREATOR — it will be pretty heavy."

On the topic of how the new material is different from KREATOR's previous output, Mille said, "It will definitely have all the KREATOR trademarks. The lyrics will talk about nowadays stuff, as usual, so it will be like a photography of the year 2012. Also the lyrics will deal a lot of things that are actually happening at this point in time. It will be like reading a newspaper or something [laughs], with all the stuff happening. And, of course, the music will be typical KREATOR, and we also wanna expand the sound and progress as musicians. I mean, this lineup has been the strongest lineup KREATOR ever had since ten years, and now I think we're ready to come out with an album that blows everyone away."

KREATOR has selected Poland's Grupa 13 (BEHEMOTH, ELUVEITIE, SONATA ARCTICA, DECAPITATED) to helm the video for the title track of their forthcoming album, "Phantom Antichrist".

Commented Petrozza: "The clips produced by Grupa 13 are groundbreaking visual trips that justify the existence of music videos in this day and age. In support of the lyrical concept of our new album, I could not think of a better creative solution than a collaboration with these great visionaries."

KREATOR is:

Miland "Mille" Petrozza – Vocals, Guitrar
Sami Yli-Sirniö - Guitar
Christian "Speesy" Giesler - Bass
Jürgen "Ventor" Reil - Drums

According to Sick Drummer Magazine, Los Angeles cyber metallers FEAR FACTORY have tapped Mike Heller (MALIGNANCY, SYSTEM DIVIDE) as their new touring drummer.

Commented Heller: "It is an incredible honor to be chosen as the new drummer for FEAR FACTORY! It's something I never would have dreamt of as a kid listening to 'Soul Of A New Machine' and 'Demanufacture' over and over again in middle school. It's also an incredible honor to be following in the footsteps of two of the most amazing and influential drummers in metal drumming history. I hope to continue their legacy, creating some of the most forward-thinking and innovative music available today."

A two-minute trailer for "The Industrialist", the new album from FEAR FACTORY, can be seen below. Due in North America on June 5 via Candlelight Records, the CD is a conceptual record based around a story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell. Lyrics to the album's ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell with Decibel magazine. The album's artwork was created by American designer Anthony Clarkson with additional direction from the band. The album will be available on three formats — standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl.

Bell notes, "The protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man's demise."

"The Industrialist" again pairs FEAR FACTORY with producer Rhys Fulber. Mixed by Greg Reely (PARADISE LOST, SKINNY PUPPY, MACHINE HEAD), with additional tracking by Logan Mader (GOJIRA, DIVINE HERESY), the album is the second written by Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split. Cazares says, "Collaborating with Burton again on the new album was like magic. Everything just fell into place naturally. It felt good to recapture the true sound of FEAR FACTORY, taking it back to where it all started while raising it to new levels." Regarding Fulber, Cazares says, "Rhys has been our secret member. He is the one producer who has been able to understand what we have been trying to accomplish from the beginning and has opened our eyes to new things without sacrificing our original sound. His production and keyboard talents has made FEAR FACTORY stand out amongst the many bands of our genre."

The album was once again recorded with producer Ralph Patlan in Phoenix, Arizona.

WHITE WIZZARD recently recruited Jake Dreyer as the band's new second guitarist.

Norwegian black metal band BLODHEMN will release its new album, "Holmengraa", on May 18 via Indie Recordings. The CD's first single, "Djevelen i Menneskeform", can be streamed below.

BLODHEMN saw the light of night in 2004 as a one-man black metal band formed by Invisus as an outlet for his need to spread his music and lyrics. The first demos raised a lot of eyebrows in the underground scene in 2008, and the critically acclaimed EP "Brenn Alle Bruer" from 2010 made it clear that Invisus and BLODHEMN were very serious about what they were doing. BLODHEMN became an underground phenomena, and also earned a reputation as a stunning live band which amongst others resulted in them being handpicked to play the Norwegian industry festival By:Larm in 2011 at the main stage. The title track from "Brenn Alle Bruer" was also played a lot on national rock radio.
