The Rolling Stones have delayed their 50th anniversary tour until 2013, according to reports.
The legendary rock'n'roll band played their first ever gig in London on July 12, 1962, and had been expected to celebrate the half-century landmark by embarking on a world tour later this year.
Last month guitarist Ronnie Wood had said that he and his bandmates owed it to their fans to hit the road and play shows together and suggested that the group were on the verge of touring, but according to Rolling Stone, the proposed jaunt has been put back until 2013.

Basically, we're just not ready. I have a feeling that's [2013] more realistic.
It is also reported that health concerns regarding Richards are the reason for the delay, as there are doubts that he would be able to commit to a full world tour, but the guitarist insisted that playing in 2013 would be a more fitting half-centenary anniversary. "The Stones always considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie [Watts, drummer] didn't actually join until January," he said. "We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year."
Richards also confirmed that the band were about to enter the studio together and refused to rule out the possibility of former bassist Bill Wyman for the tour, claiming that he was "up for it" and they had discussed him teaming up again with his former bandmates.
The Rolling Stones will release a new photo album to mark 50 years since their first ever gig this year. The tome – which is titled The Rolling Stones: 50 – will feature 700 shots and words from the band on their history, and will hit UK bookshelves on July 12.
Salman Rushdie called the backstage scene "the best photograph I've ever been in," and Elvis Costello still couldn't quite believe it. At the end, it was Costello with Keith Richards clanging guitars together on stage at the John F. Kennedy Library, playing a suitably sloppy and euphoric version of Chuck Berry's "Promised Land" as a shit-ton of famous talent -- almost as much in the audience as made it onstage -- gathered to see Berry and Leonard Cohen receive the first annual PEN New England Awards for Song Lyrics of Literary Excellence. The award may have been long in coming, but nobody was about to miss what might be Berry's final appearance in Boston. Unexpectedly, Chuck -- wearing his trademark sailor's cap -- leaped out of his seat and went for Elvis Costello's guitar, belting out a couple of verses of "Johnny B. Good." That wasn't on the program -- and neither was the Elvis/Keef encore.
Earlier, Rushdie introduced Cohen by quoting the lyrics to "Bird on a Wire" and opining, "If I could write like that, I would"; he also thought Auden would have liked "Hallelujah." And after Shawn Colvin nervously strummed a sweet version of his "Come Healing," Cohen -- who was not confirmed to appear at the event until this morning -- spent most of his time on-stage praising Berry.
The jury that chose the recipients, Cohen pointed out, was comprised of people who could easily have been given the award: Bono, Costello, Smokey Robinson, Rushdie, and Roseanne Cash among them. "But I understand, now, the criteria they based it on," he said. "They chose it on the basis of seniority."
With that he turned to Berry, sitting in the front row, and said, "If Beethoven hadn't rolled over, there wouldn't have been room for any of us. All of us are footnotes to the work of Chuck Berry."
Among the well-wishers in the crowd were Peter Wolf, Asa Brebner, and the (former Boston Phoenix and Real Paper) critic Peter Guralnick. (Mercifully, Buckcherry stayed home.) Bono was stuck in South America, reportedly writing songs ("and probably curing a few lepers," joked award chairman Bill Flanagan). Roseanne Cash was celebrating what would have been her father's 80th birthday, but sent a letter saying that if Cohen had only written the one line -- "There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in" -- he'd have been worthy of the honor. And Bob Dylan sent a letter with warm regards for both honorees. "To Chuck, the Shakespeare of rock and roll, congratulations on your award, that's what too much monkey business will get ya . . . and give my regards to Leonard Cohen, the Kafka of the blues, and Lord Byron Keith if he shows up."
Paul Simon, introducing Berry, broke out in a belly laugh after Berry sidled up to him at the podium. "He just told me he's got a bad ear and he can't hear a word I'm saying," Simon told the audience. "That's probably for the best." After Simon recited some of his favorite Berry lines, Costello strapped on a guitar and said what everyone was thinking: "One of the more intimidating things you'll ever do is play a Chuck Berry song in front of Chuck Berry . . . without a band." He introduced his version of "No Particular Place To Go" by remembering that he'd first heard it as a 10-year-old and that he "didn't know what a safety belt was at the time time. But I suspected it was something . . . rude."
The event was way sold out, and was live-streamed by the JFK Library.
A new Rolling Stones book titled "50" will be released all over the world on July 12. It is compiling rare pictures from the UK newspaper Daily Mirror archives. The book project is overseen by Charlie Watts, with each band member writing content to tell the band's story. To support publication, the Mirror will run daily stories on the Stones over the week beginning July 8.
AEROSMITH is currently mixing a reworked version of its 1991 outtake "Legendary Child" (originally written during the "Get A Grip" sessions) for inclusion in the upcoming summer film "GI Joe: Retaliation" (which arrives in theaters around the U.S. on June 29). The song is also expected to appear on AEROSMITH's long-awaited new studio album, which is tentatively due later this year.

With spectacular stage backdrops, dynamic musicianship and a literally jaw-dropping appearance by Eddie, this live show encapsulates to perfection the heart and soul of IRON MAIDEN 2011.
IRON MAIDEN bass player and founder member Steve Harris comments: "For 'The Final Frontier Tour' it was really important to me that we filmed in South America as we're always so overwhelmed by the fans' reaction when we go to that part of the world and I wanted to reflect that in the filming. After much consideration, we chose the Santiago show as we felt it was one of our best performances of the entire tour and to play at the prestigious Estadio Nacional was a landmark moment for us. For reasons known to our fans, it took a long time before we got to play our first show in Chile, and once we did get to play a show, the response was so phenomenal we just had to keep coming back and it's got better and better each time! This show also features the gigantic new Eddie. He wasn't due to make his appearance until our European leg of the tour later in 2011, but we managed to transport him across the sea in a special huge container just in time for the latter end of the South American dates so it was great we were able to immortalize him for the DVD as he really has to be seen to be believed!"
The concert was filmed digitally using 22 HD cameras and an octocam (a flying camera which captures aerial crowd scenes), recorded in both stereo and 5.1 audio and mixed by MAIDEN's longstanding producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley, all of which serves to accentuate the incredible atmosphere of this compelling performance. Extensive use is made of split screens so fans can follow the individual members closer and the set list moves seamlessly between songs from MAIDEN's most recent studio album, 2010's "The Final Frontier", through to classic fan favourites via the band's vast and varied catalogue (full set listing below).
DVD Disc Two is a bonus disc containing an 88-minute documentary, "Behind The Beast". This is also an entirely in-house production by MAIDEN's own Krew, led by Andy Matthews, and is intended as an interesting and revealing high-quality "home movie" for their fans of how to put on an IRON MAIDEN tour and what goes on behind the scenes at a show. It describes the extraordinary story of one of the most acclaimed and ambitious touring shows in the world. It illustrates the day-to-day life and complex tasks of the MAIDEN Killer Krew and the other characters behind the scenes. The expertise and experience, the problem-solving and successes, the sheer scale and immense difficulties of the undertaking comes to life through the day-to-day coverage of the tour and the background work of the crews in sound, lighting, carpentry, production and set design. It's hard for me to even… I'm not really necessarily anticipating anything in particular. It's on the 14th and I'll go down there and see what happens. With all this, sort of, lack of unity on the subject, it's hard to really look forward to it, 'cause I don't know what to anticipate. So it's more like going into it with blinders on and just see what happens."
The 46-year-old guitarist also spoke about his favorite memories as a member of GUNS N' ROSES — recording the band's debut album, "Appetite For Destruction", and touring behind it.
"The first tour, all that stuff, was really a great experience," he said. "I was in my early twenties and it was just a great adventure. Ultimate-Guitar.com: What originally attracted you to a band like MOTÖRHEAD?
Phil: Well, for a fact, I could give up my day job, and I'm being completely honest here. I did like the "Ace of Spades" and "Bomber" and things like that and it was cool music I thought. My wife convinced me to send the demo in and stuff like that. I thought, "Oh, well, what's the point? They're not gonna call me back." And one day I came home from work and she said, "Oh, the MOTÖRHEAD people have phoned up." This was like on a Tuesday and she said, "You need to learn 18 songs by Friday." I didn't own any MOTÖRHEAD albums at the time I remember so I borrowed "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" off of one of PERSIAN RISK's roadies. We had a couple of local guys roadying for us for free so I borrowed that and I'm forever indebted to Jonah; his name was Jonah.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: What did you think when Lemmy also auditioned Wurzel, the second guitarist?
Phil: I think out of about 200 tapes, they got it down and auditioned about half-a-dozen actually but not on my day. I went up for one but I don't think Wurzel, God rest his soul [was there]. You know, Wurzel passed away last year.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: I did know about that. It was terrible.
Phil: Yeah. I think Wurzel was a different day who had to travel up from London. And ol' Lem said, "Can you stay overnight?" I stayed on his houseboat; he had a houseboat on the Thames at the time. I think either Lemmy was goin' for me, he wanted me, or Lemmy wanted Wurzel or Phil Taylor wanted me. So between Lemmy and Phil Taylor, they each favored [one of us]. I think the second night and I don't think we played but Lemmy took me and Wurzel out to a club, to a bar, and he left us alone, which was just an excuse really for him to play the pinball machine. But umm, so me and Wurz got it on like and he was listening, actually, and we were saying, "Oh, if he had us both you could do this part and I could play that over that."
Ultimate-Guitar.com: Before your father passed away, he was able to experience a lot of your success.
Phil: Yeah, and when my mum was alive they used to come up to London and Hammersmith and everything, yeah, and stay in nice hotels and stuff. I think my mum was still alive and she saw me win a Grammy [winning the "Best Metal Performance" in 2005 with their cover of METALLICA's "Whiplash".] Shit, I can't remember, but my dad was there when I won the Grammy. He wasn't with me at the awards and everything, like, but yeah, they saw the success and they were really proud.

Phil: They were great parents, yeah. They bought me my first Marshall stacks. My father did OK in his later years with his businesses but like early on there wasn't a lot of money about. But they never made me feel as if we didn't have any money like they put themselves out.
Ultimate-Guitar.com: Has there been any change in MOTÖRHEAD's style from more recent albums like "Inferno", "Kiss Of Death" and "Motörizer" to older records like "Hammered" and "Snake Bite Love"?
Phil: We just take every song as it comes. We don't try to say, like, this album is gonna be, like, really heavy or we're gonna try something different. Songs evolve as they do. They take their natural time and their natural course and that. We're not afraid to try new things and everything but sometimes you can feel if you've got a basic riff and it sounds amazin' just have it out basic. There's no point in trying to fill it up or anything. Sometimes we've done it and it hasn't worked out. I think that all of the albums that we've made, every single one has got a lot of merit to it. It may not be the favorite album of the year or whatever. But it's good stuff when you consider a lot of bands' albums you could buy in the past you may get three or four really good songs, really good 'uns, which sell the album and the rest are not so good. But with us we try to make as many good songs as we can to put on the album — no fillers and no filler tracks.

Tate entered the studio on February 29 to begin recording his second solo album. He wrote on Facebook, "I'm very excited about this record and I'll be sharing a lot more info about it in the weeks to come."
Tate released his first solo album in 2002 on Sanctuary Records. Self-titled, the LP was a huge departure from the work he had previously done with QUEENSRŸCHE.
Geoff played a handful of acoustic solo dates, billed as GEOFF TATE AND FRIENDS, beginning on January 26 at Anthology in San Diego, California. According to Tate, he performed "acoustic renditions of songs from my solo album as well as some of my favorite QUEENSRŸCHE songs."
Professionally filmed, multi-camera video footage of the San Diego concert can be seen below.
In a recent interview with AnthologySD.com, Tate was asked if he is looking into any future solo projects. "I am!" he replied. "I'm actually working on one right now that I hope to have wrapped up pretty soon. This show that I'm doing [on the solo tour] is an acoustic show with some friends of mine who are fantastic acoustic players. We're doing kind of a blend of my last solo album, some QUEENSRŸCHE songs, and we'll toss in some new ones that haven't been released yet. It'll just be a really fun night. Very homey, intimate, we'll probably take requests, things like that."
He added, "For the last couple of years, I've been doing more stuff outside of QUEENSRŸCHE in order to just stretch out. But I'll tell you, even though I've sang shows in front of hundreds of thousands of people and also intimate shows of a few hundred, but whenever I go out to an event or something and someone asks me to sing a song with them, I'm petrified! (Laughs) I don't know much material outside of my own material that I've written, and so if someone asks me to sing 'Danny Boy', I couldn't sing it! Not even if someone offered me a million dollars could I sing that song. So I'm trying to be a bit more versatile and learn more stuff."

TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon is collaborating with OF THE EARTH (O.T.E.) members Mike Araiza (guitar) and Jeff Sandoval (vocals) on a new full-length CD which they plan to release during the summer. Hannon states, "Mike, Jeff and I have been collaborating writing songs and we plan to make this a seriously rockin' guitar album!!"

Ex-KYUSS members John Garcia (vocals) and Brant Bjork (drums) have issued a statement in response to the lawsuit filed by their former KYUSS bandmates Josh Homme and Scott Reeder over the use of the KYUSS name.
Garcia, Bjork and ex-KYUSS bassist Nick Oliveri reunited for shows last year under the KYUSS LIVES! banner, in which they were joined by guitarist Bruno Fevery. The band has since toured on both sides of the Atlantic and is said to be currently working on a live album for a late 2012 release. There are also tentative plans for the group to record a brand new studio CD.
Homme and Reeder released a statement on March 10 via public relations firm Nasty Little Man in which they claimed that they "made every attempt to help [Garcia, Bjork and Oliveri] continue KYUSS LIVES! respectfully. Only to discover while they looked us in the eye, KYUSS LIVES! management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an attempt to steal the name KYUSS. This is desperately what we were trying to avoid."
In a statement released earlier today, Garcia and Bjork said, "We are both shocked and saddened that our friend and onetime bandmate has chosen to file a lawsuit against us, especially after having positive discussions since our reformation. We look forward to resolving this private matter behind closed doors and moving forward with work on our new album and connecting with our amazing, loyal fans."
Writing on his Facebook page on March 11, Reeder stated about the reaction to the news that he and Homme filed lawsuit against their former bandmates, "Maaaaaaan, I've been called every foul name in the book [on Saturday], and all I did was make a choice to stand up to defend and retain small rights that I should be able to keep sacred and unhindered for the rest of my life and beyond. I didn't have much of a choice: lose all of the rights in two weeks, or keep them forever. I didn't choose to be in this situation at all — I was forced to react very quickly with a looming deadline, and it's been rough. I saw people bitterly divided [yesterday] over this stupid stuff… crazy. But the overwhelming support from friends and family was very much appreciated and needed. Thank you."
Reeder played a handful of European live dates with KYUSS LIVES! last year as a fill-in for Oliveri. He was also a "special guest" at KYUSS LIVES!'s homecoming show on November 18, 2011 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.
Reeder played bass on KYUSS' classic LPs "Welcome to Sky Valley" and "...And the Circus Leaves Town" and was also a member of doom legends THE OBSESSED.
Regarding why Homme is not involved in the KYUSS reunion, Garcia previously told Rock Sound magazine, "I have nothing bad to say about Josh — he's extremely intelligent, very smart, a great guitar player, great songwriter, a great vocalist — he is a bad-ass, there is no question, and I love him dearly but he is busy with his own thing. He has THEM CROOKED VULTURES, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, he's a father, a businessman and even if we asked him to do it, I don't think he'd say yes, so I don't want to set myself up for a big fat no which is 99.9 percent what he would say."
In a 2010 interview, Homme explained his hesitation to participate in a KYUSS reformation.
"The offers come in all the time," he said. "They're getting more and more expensive, and more and more elaborate. The money is crazy, but I've never been tempted — I don't really care about the money, I never have. That's not what KYUSS was about, so to punctuate the end of our sentence with that would be blasphemy… KYUSS has such a great history that it would be a total error. Garcia, Bjork and ex-KYUSS bassist Nick Oliveri reunited for shows last year under the KYUSS LIVES! banner, in which they were joined by guitarist Bruno Fevery. The band has since toured on both sides of the Atlantic and is said to be currently working on a live album for a late 2012 release. There are also tentative plans for the group to record a brand new studio CD.
Homme and Reeder released a statement on March 10 via public relations firm Nasty Little Man in which they claimed that they "made every attempt to help [Garcia, Bjork and Oliveri] continue KYUSS LIVES! respectfully. Only to discover while they looked us in the eye, KYUSS LIVES! management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an attempt to steal the name KYUSS. This is desperately what we were trying to avoid."
In a statement released earlier today, Garcia and Bjork said, "We are both shocked and saddened that our friend and onetime bandmate has chosen to file a lawsuit against us, especially after having positive discussions since our reformation. We look forward to resolving this private matter behind closed doors and moving forward with work on our new album and connecting with our amazing, loyal fans."
Writing on his Facebook page on March 11, Reeder stated about the reaction to the news that he and Homme filed lawsuit against their former bandmates, "Maaaaaaan, I've been called every foul name in the book [on Saturday], and all I did was make a choice to stand up to defend and retain small rights that I should be able to keep sacred and unhindered for the rest of my life and beyond. I didn't have much of a choice: lose all of the rights in two weeks, or keep them forever. I didn't choose to be in this situation at all — I was forced to react very quickly with a looming deadline, and it's been rough. I saw people bitterly divided [yesterday] over this stupid stuff… crazy. But the overwhelming support from friends and family was very much appreciated and needed. Thank you."
Reeder played a handful of European live dates with KYUSS LIVES! last year as a fill-in for Oliveri. He was also a "special guest" at KYUSS LIVES!'s homecoming show on November 18, 2011 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.
Reeder played bass on KYUSS' classic LPs "Welcome to Sky Valley" and "...And the Circus Leaves Town" and was also a member of doom legends THE OBSESSED.
Regarding why Homme is not involved in the KYUSS reunion, Garcia previously told Rock Sound magazine, "I have nothing bad to say about Josh — he's extremely intelligent, very smart, a great guitar player, great songwriter, a great vocalist — he is a bad-ass, there is no question, and I love him dearly but he is busy with his own thing. He has THEM CROOKED VULTURES, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, he's a father, a businessman and even if we asked him to do it, I don't think he'd say yes, so I don't want to set myself up for a big fat no which is 99.9 percent what he would say."
In a 2010 interview, Homme explained his hesitation to participate in a KYUSS reformation.
"The offers come in all the time," he said. "They're getting more and more expensive, and more and more elaborate. The money is crazy, but I've never been tempted — I don't really care about the money, I never have. That's not what KYUSS was about, so to punctuate the end of our sentence with that would be blasphemy… KYUSS has such a great history that it would be a total error. Legendary guitarist Slash has revealed via Twitter that he will reunite with his onetime GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Steven Adler to "lay down some guitars" for a song on the drummer's new album. The session is scheduled to take place tonight (Thursday, March 15) at a studio in Los Angeles.
In 2010, Adler collaborated with Slash on the latter's self-titled debut solo album, which scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies. He appeared on the track "Baby Can't Drive", along with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger. The song was featured on an expanded edition of the album released by Classic Rock magazine.

Canadian metal innovators VOIVOD have been confirmed for the Suoni Per Il Popolo, set to take place June 6-23 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The self-proclaimed festival of "liberation music" is celebrating its 12th year in 2012. U.S. progressive metal icons FATES WARNING are working on material for their next album, which they hope to release before the end of 2012.

We have these shows [in Europe] and then we go to Brazil in April. And in the meantime we are working as hard as we can to finish the album. Hopefully we'll have it out by the end of this year, If not, the beginning of next year. We're trying our best."
He added, "We need to finish writing right now. We finished the first song. The demo version is already done. We'll continue writing as we have a lot of ideas that we need to put together. But the first song is done and I can tell you it's seven minutes long. The recording process itself usually takes about two months and then after that it's another three more months before the album is released. So, we are talking five months out there after the album has been written."

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser has penned the foreword to "Brazilian Metal - Brazilian Rhythm Applied To Metal Guitar: New Ways For Riffs Of Guitar", the new book from CLAUSTROFOBIA and QUARTETO DE GUITARRAS KROMA guitar player Alexandre de Orio.
According to a press release, the first volume of the book, which comes with a free CD, focuses on the connection between the metal and the samba with different rhythmic patterns, musical phrases from percussion instruments and drum beats. Most of the content within this book is applied towards metal guitar. The goal is to improve the technical development in this musical style and create new riffs on the guitar. The mixture of these two genres results in a unique 'accent.' Some examples of this Brazilian swing played along with metal will be seen in some guitar riffs created and executed in recording with the drum beats of samba also being played along with the drum beats of rock."
This book is intended for guitar players and possibly for drum players as well.
There are no other study materials in the market about the mix of Brazilian rhythms with metal.

I Heart Guitar Blog: How would you describe "Enslaved" compared to the last [SOULFLY album], "Omen"?
Max: It's more extreme. We have an extreme metal drummer who joined the band called David Kinkade, who comes a school of death metal playing. He comes from a band called BORKNAGAR and they're a death metal band from Norway. He plays with double bass and blast beats. A very extreme way of playing. We actually built those songs around him. I was very influenced by that, so some of the stuff even sounds like old MORBID ANGEL and old DEATH and SUFFOCATION. So it's really going to surprise a lot of people. It's a very extreme SOULFLY record, the most extreme SOULFLY record of all of them. The most extreme record we've done for all the times.
I Heart Guitar Blog: Dez Fafara from DEVILDRIVER and COAL CHAMBER is on the new album.
Max: Yeah! We wanted to have two different people so we ended up going with Dez from DEVILDRIVER, who is a friend of mine. He's in a great band. I love DEVILDRIVER and I love his voice. It was time to work together. We were on the same label and it was the perfect time to do something together. And we also did a song called "World Scum", which was done with Travis from CATTLE DECAPITATION, which is one of my favorite new bands, a new school of death metal coming out of America. They're from San Diego and they're super-heavy. Travis put down some really amazing vocals on that song. He's great, y'know? Two killer guests to have on the album. They're going to make the record even more interesting for the people that are going to hear it. On the last record I had Greg from DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and Tommy from PRONG, which was also killer. And on CAVALERA we had Roger from AGNOSTIC FRONT. So we just keep trying get together different guests and keep the tradition alive of having guests on the record. It's cool, it's fun. It's something that I do with SOULFLY and CAVALERA and it's a big part of my career, working with different musicians. I love working with different people. They're all my friends, and I'm a fan of their music and I get to work with them in the studio. It's been a dream for me working with everyone I've worked with. Tom Araya, Sean Lennon, Corey Taylor, Chino from DEFTONES… everybody I work with has been amazing and I really look forward to working with more people.
I Heart Guitar Blog: One thing that's really cool about the CONSPIRACY and modern-day SOULFLY is that you bring back the thrashy, intricate kind of guitar playing that was so cool in SEPULTURA.
Max: That's why we have Marc Rizzo on guitar. He's very talented. He can really do different stuff. He's an amazing guitarist in SOULFLY and he does really cool stuff with CAVALERA. The first CAVALERA album was full of his leads, and on the second album I wanted him shredding but I also wanted him to come up with some sounds, different noise effects, and not just shredding, because people get tired of that. So he did some of that, and I think the combination of that with the thrash songs and the fact that the album is shorter — it's only half an hour long, you can hear the whole record at one time without getting tired of the record, and I think it goes back to albums like [SEPULTURA's] "Arise" or [SLAYER's] "Reign In Blood" that are only about half an hour long. More simplicity, more brutality, trim all the fat, take the extra stuff out, keep it brutal and in your face. And that's the style of the CAVALERA. I think I like that about it. Something about playing pure thrash without restrictions, without rules, that is really cool. It's very liberating for me. And when I play with Igor, I just want to play fast, which is that vibe me and Igor have. It grooves. We go heavy on the grooves, and when it's fast and thrashy we're gonna go all the way. But CAVALERA is really a combination of my sound and Igor's sound clashing together, which is the sound we formed in SEPULTURA.

It's something that I do with SOULFLY and CAVALERA and it's a big part of my career, working with different musicians. I love working with different people. They're all my friends, and I'm a fan of their music and I get to work with them in the studio. It's been a dream for me working with everyone I've worked with. Tom Araya, Sean Lennon, Corey Taylor, Chino from DEFTONES… everybody I work with has been amazing and I really look forward to working with more people.
I Heart Guitar Blog: One thing that's really cool about the CONSPIRACY and modern-day SOULFLY is that you bring back the thrashy, intricate kind of guitar playing that was so cool in SEPULTURA.
Max: That's why we have Marc Rizzo on guitar. He's very talented. He can really do different stuff. He's an amazing guitarist in SOULFLY and he does really cool stuff with CAVALERA. The first CAVALERA album was full of his leads, and on the second album I wanted him shredding but I also wanted him to come up with some sounds, different noise effects, and not just shredding, because people get tired of that. So he did some of that, and I think the combination of that with the thrash songs and the fact that the album is shorter — it's only half an hour long, you can hear the whole record at one time without getting tired of the record, and I think it goes back to albums like [SEPULTURA's] "Arise" or [SLAYER's] "Reign In Blood" that are only about half an hour long. More simplicity, more brutality, trim all the fat, take the extra stuff out, keep it brutal and in your face. And that's the style of the CAVALERA. I think I like that about it. Something about playing pure thrash without restrictions, without rules, that is really cool. It's very liberating for me. And when I play with Igor, I just want to play fast, which is that vibe me and Igor have. It grooves. We go heavy on the grooves, and when it's fast and thrashy we're gonna go all the way. But CAVALERA is really a combination of my sound and Igor's sound clashing together, which is the sound we formed in SEPULTURA.
Metal Mark of SkullsNBones.com recently conducted an interview with vocalist Tony Foresta of the Richmond, Virginia crossover act MUNICIPAL WASTE. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
SkullsNBones.com: With every new album, most bands will say that it's their best record or the "heaviest" record yet, but with "The Fatal Feast", I truly believe it's the best record from MUNICIPAL WASTE. Without sounding too cliche, what are your thoughts on that opinion?
Tony: Yeah, I think it's definitely one of the better albums we've written as a band. I hate being the guy to say, "Oh, it's the heaviest record ever," or "This album will melt your face off," but I really feel that way about this record. I feel it's really strong from start to finish and it's good because we worked our asses off writing it. (laughs) It's always great when you're completely happy with the finished result. I think it's awesome.
SkullsNBones.com: Speaking of the word awesome, you guys had the legendary John Connelly from NUCLEAR ASSAULT do guest vocals on the title track. How was that experience for you guys, because I know you are huge fans of the band?
Tony: That was just awesome, man! He is such a cool, nice guy, too. All of us in the band, like you said, are huge NUCLEAR ASSAULT fans. I mean that's one of the reasons I wanted to be in band ya know, because of their music. For us to have John on the record is just such a huge honor. I was so nervous when I called him and asked him! It was funny because we've played shows with NUCLEAR ASSAULT before and he knows our material, but I was still nervous as hell. (laughs) But yeah, it's definitely an honor to have him on the record and it'll be one of my favorite tracks we've ever written just because John is on there.
SkullsNBones.com: A lot of bands don't feel that videos are important anymore and then there are bands like you guys and BEHEMOTH who continually put out impressive and entertaining videos. Why do you feel videos are still important?
Tony: Videos are fun, man! We love them! You're right, though, the BEHEMOTH videos are fucking insane. I like that shit a lot. Personally, I think videos are just as important as the album cover ya know. It's another way for your band to express yourself and I truly think people still enjoy seeing a good video nowadays. I've always been a huge advocate for making videos with this band. Right after we finish recording an album, I'm ready to shoot a new video. It's a really big deal to me.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's A LIFE ONCE LOST will enter Planet Red studios in Richmond, Virginia on April 10 with producer Andreas Magnusson (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, IMPENDING DOOM) to record the long-awaited follow-up to the band's 2007 album "Iron Gag".

End Of The Light Records has set an April 10 North American release date for "Träume Einer Nacht", the new album from the German band SCHWARZER ENGEL (distributed by DisManic via eOne Distribution). This will be the group's second release on End Of The Light, following "Apokalypse", which came out in January.
A combination of black metal, dark, gothic and industrial music mixed with German-spoken lyrics, SCHWARZER ENGEL ("black angel" in English) "pursues completely new paths, consisting of catchy, aggressive melodies, emotive full stereo-spectrum sounds, driving rhythms, and varied arrangements enriched by intelligent German lyrics." Grande Rock: Why did you name the band Soen? What does it represent for you… and whose idea was it?
Martin: SOEN is a name that doesn't have any other significance than our music in a word. I came up with the four letters, but it was a group decision not to have a name that would bring any pictures to the listeners mind besides our music.
Grande Rock: Did you have any musical orientations beforehand, or it started taking shape when the four of you got together?
Martin: Well, the orientation is unavoidable when you have been a musician for so long. You know what you like and what you don't and what you like to play and what you don't 'cause those are two very different things sometimes. SOEN really does it for me... I'm very comfortable composing and performing our music and that is truly rewarding.
Grande Rock: What did you have in mind when you started writing and recording material for the debut album? Is the final result close to what you had in mind in the first place?
Martin: I don't think we had a plan of what to sound like; everything fell into place while doing it. The goal was set on making as good music as we possibly could without letting anything from the outside alter our perception of how good music should sound.
Grande Rock: There's been much talk on the web about SOEN… and some fans are arguing that you are heavily influenced by TOOL. What would you say about it?
Martin: We are inspired by TOOL, but I consider them not only a band but a genre. Besides that, I really don't think there's anything to argue about, we make good music whoever it would remind you of. Some people tend to dislike rather than like and are looking for faults instead of seeing music for what it is, good or bad.
Grande Rock: What's your opinion of people downloading free music from the Internet? What shall an artist do in order to avoid losing money and time?
Martin: I really hope that people who download music off of the Internet will also buy it if they like it. If someone who downloads it wouldn't have bought the album anyway, I think it's better it's been heard by one more person than not. The world is changing, it started many years ago and in ten years-time music will be distributed in a whole different way. I personally hope vinyl is still around, for the sake of it.

This five-city tour will feature a majority of DEATH's amazing musicians, as well as special guests.
