True enough. The goofy thing about Metallica fans is that while they love
the group, they haven't been truly happy with a release since Master of
Puppets. Sure for every thousand fans the annoy, they gain 10,000 and it is
kinda fun to read the outrage with every minor change they make to the
formula.

I still think the folks who hate Lulu, really didn't try that hard. Its hard
at first, but when it gets right down to it, Lou Reeds vocal style is the
hardest bit for the non fan to get around. After that Metallica is laying
down some damn fine backround sonics and after you get into it, they are
truly stretching out. Hetfield in that backing vocal role is quite strong.

Of course its all opinion ; )

Just a guess, but I believe metallica fans wanting to hear a metallica sound
(some kind of monster..for who the bell tolls...) but instead got more of a
lou reed sound (sweet jane).

While I like both lou reed and metallica, I can see pure metal heads wanting
nothing to do with reed. (just not heavy enough).

This one may have been a nice thought but because of the extreme difference
in styles just doent work as hoped.

Only a guess.
