Maybe I am wrong on this, but this would be a positive for music.

Remember records the scratches pops and hisses so for quality real to real was the best you could get (gone) and maybe a handful of people missed it.
The lets make music portable and all those bulky ugly and undependable 8 track tapes cluttering our cars.
So then cassettes, smaller and if home made sometimes better quality, but still broke or melted all the time.
CDs the current format. Highest quality to date but if you have a large colletion of music just look at the clutter, and when was the last time you listened to that old BTO or Allmand Brothers cd?

Thanks to Steve Jobs the selection of music to listen to is unlimited cant say that about tower records. You can sample most songs so instead of buying the new beastie boys and being disapointed because it just wasnt the same you might like the new devo much more. And face it mp3 while not as good of quality as some of the other media types it is much more consistant.

Not sure how or if this will help the artist but it maybe one day will elliminate record labels and go straight to digital. One would think that would put more of the money in the artist pockets instead of the suits.....who knows

But as I believe Dylan wrote the time they are a changing.
