Speaking with Billboard.com regarding his upcoming second book, "Trust Me, I'm Dr. Ozzy", singer Ozzy Osbourne also touched on the rumors that he recently spent time in England working on material for a new BLACK SABBATH album with other members of the band's original lineup.
"Yes, it's a very, very strong possibility," Ozzy said of getting the old band back together. "It's in the very early stages, so we haven't recorded anything yet. If it works out, it'll work out. If it doesn't, I'll keep doing my thing."
BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi's manager in August refused to deny that the band's original lineup is getting back together, according to the Birmingham Mail. The Mail was actually the newspaper that broke the story of a reported SABBATH reunion, using comments attributed to Iommi. But although the guitarist issued a statement saying that his comments had been distorted, his manager Ralph Baker admitted to the Mail, "We haven't got anything in place. He's not denying that the guys have been talking but there's nothing in the way that's been implied in the statements that you made."
Iommi's comments to the Mail were made back in June, with Baker telling the newspaper that Iommi "felt that he made them to you off the record."
Baker said that the story first appeared on a metal news web site before the Mail expanded on it, using Iommi's quotes.
Baker said, "A very insignificant little web site put something out about SABBATH getting back together . . . When you [Birmingham Mail] went online, that's when it went around the world because it was official."
The Mail reported on August 16 that the original four SABBATH members — Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward — have already begun rehearsing and writing music in secret for a new album.
SABBATH did try to record a new album 12 years ago, the original lineup's first since 1978, but abandoned the attempt after just a couple of songs. The original SABBATH lineup has not toured together since summer 2005.

Joe Bosso of MusicRadar.com recently conducted an interview with guitarists Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner of British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
MusicRadar.com: So Glenn, you're stopping touring to make records. That's kind of a radical approach these days.
Glenn Tipton: "Yes, I suppose so. Well, you know, we're not as young as we once were — that certainly has to be considered. Really, to me, the great thing is to have more time on our hands. We'll do at least one more album, if not two. We've already done some writing with Richie, and we're looking forward to making a record with him. There's a lot of options open to us."
MusicRadar.com: Richie, does this feel weird to you? You've just joined a band that's doing its last tour.
Richie Faulkner: "But there will be a future, that's the main thing. There will be more music. I still can't believe this is all happening to me. It was a huge honor to even be considered to play with JUDAS PRIEST. To be with them on stage every night is unreal."
MusicRadar.com: Glenn, when K.K. [former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Kenneth "K.K." Downing] left the band, was it a horribly painful time for everybody?
Tipton: "It wasn't easy. Ken e-mailed us last November that touring was a problem for him because of some wrist difficulties he was having. He'd obviously thought about it quite a bit. It was a shock to all of us. For a while, we thought it might be the end of the band. We didn't even try to look for another guitar player for three months, just in case Ken changed his mind. But he was set that he was leaving. There wasn't any bad blood or anything — we totally understood his attitude. I'm sure the decision to leave was hard for him, and we respected that. Still, it left us wondering what to do. We'd already announced the farewell tour, so we had a conference call with everybody in the band to try to figure things out. The general feeling was that the fans wanted to hear Priest one last time, so if we could find the guy, a new guitar player, then we would do the tour. And before you new it, we found Richie. It was amazing! He fit in immediately. He committed himself fully, and he made the decision for us to go back out on tour a very easy one. Now we can do what we want to do, which is play PRIEST music to all of our fans around the world."
MusicRadar.com: Glenn, JUDAS PRIEST have been pioneers in the world of heavy metal. Do you think you can still be innovators, or is it inherently a young person's game?
Tipton: "I think we have a lot to offer. We wouldn't even continue if we didn't feel a fire burning inside us. That's the truth. Every time we start a new album, I'm excited to see what happens. You can't always guarantee that everything is going to be magic, but right now, with the touring going so well and the fans loving us, we feel we're in a good place. We have momentum and energy — and that equals creativity."

Talk to any rock 'n' roll fan who was around in the late '80s about their favorite albums and you're likely to hear Appetite for Destruction near the top of their list. The gritty, raunchy, dirty album blew apart the L.A. hair-band scene and secured Guns N' Roses a place in history as one of the most important bands. Ever.
Read more new and notable nonfiction this October.
In true Behind the Music style, Guns imploded in the '90s, its members taking on other projects here and there, including front man Axl Rose's epic quest to put out Chinese Democracy with a new line-up. Bassist Duff McKagan has not only built himself a happy life as a husband and father, but also continued playing in Velvet Revolver and now his own band, Loaded. And he writes. McKagan is a columnist for his hometown's alternative newspaper, the Seattle Weekly, ESPN.com and Playboy.com.
Here, McKagan talks to us about his latest writing project—his life—in his memoir It's So Easy.
Why the book now?
For me, I started getting my writing chops about three years ago, out of nowhere really, to write an article for Italian Men's Vogue about 1987 in Hollywood…I wrote a 2,500 word article for Men's Italian Vogue, and I kind of dug it…But from that, one of the editors of Playboy magazine saw that article and asked me to write another 2,500-word article for Playboy on the music business. And then Seattle Weekly had a spot that had just opened up, this is about two and a half years ago, and I started a weekly column, a 1,000-word column. And then Playboy.com offered me a financial weekly column…So, I'm not a journalist, but I'm a writer…
So anyhow, why a book now? Well, because I've kind of developed a style. The question I've gotten the most is, how bad did it get? How much did you drink, how much drugs did you do? And how did you get sober? And I can't really ever explain. If I told you on the phone—and I assume you're probably a "normy," a normy meaning you don't drink a gallon of vodka a day, or do a ball of blow every day or smoke heroin—so if I ever tell you how much I did, it wouldn't make any sense. You would go, "Wow that sounds like a lot," but you wouldn't really know what I'm telling you.
So I started experimenting with writing about what that was like and the descent down into that. I was supposed to die at 18, 19. And everybody in Seattle thought I was the chosen one, musically wise. You know, if anyone was going to make it, it was going to be that guy. I was never the one into doing heroin. The influence of doing heroin came to Seattle and I dodged it. I moved to Hollywood away from the heroin. The first band I performed with was Guns N' Roses [in L.A.]. Three weeks into being in Hollywood I was playing with Slash through an ad in the paper. So it kind of chronicles the whole story. It's really about my descent, and then my rise out of addiction.
Obviously, what you guys lived through was insane and incredible, but when you actually start chronicling the drugs and alcohol [in the book], when I got to the "10 bottles of wine a day" line, I was like, "Holy shit, that's a lot." How did it feel to see that on paper?
Not good. It wasn't good. I sat there and wrote the book myself. I imagine you are a writer. And you write alone. You don't write holding your wife's hand, or you don't write with a therapist in the room. You write alone…
My life now is amazing. I have a teenage daughter and a 10-year-old daughter. Things are pink and fluffy at my house, with two little dogs. It's pretty funny to be me now. And I'm in on the joke that is my life. People take rock 'n' roll so seriously, but there is a lot of humor in this thing. There is a lot of humor in the Guns N' Roses story that hopefully I touch on and reveal.
There are enough rock 'n' roll books that are boring to me at this point. I know Simon & Schuster would like for me to say this is a rock 'n' roll book because I guess they sell. And it is, I am a rock 'n' roll guy. But I think when I got sober in 1994 I realized there's all this other stuff in life that I gave up hope on ever achieving when I was 26. I thought I would live till 30 and that was it. Things like going to school and having a healthy relationship with kids and dogs and people relying on me for everything? Life's turned around for me, and I'm used to it now.
I noticed you aren't paired with a super-journalist rock writer doing the story.
It wasn't fun, a lot of that stuff, to write about. I think I was probably a little moody and a little dark at times. For me to go back, I'd write a sentence, and I'd go ugh, and then I'd follow up with another sentence that backs up that sentence, and what I started to reveal was my part in things. You look in the rearview mirror, and if there was controversy it was always the other guys' fault. You always say, "It was that fucking guy, it was their fault, it was them!"
But I started to really find my place in things, and I took accountability, I really did. I took accountability for myself. Hopefully it's funny at times along the way. If I could go back to where I was in 1993 and read this book—because I never thought I would get out of where I was, I never did—but even me, I did, I got out. And I got out in a big way and life became pretty magical after I got all those monkeys off my back.
You've been in many bands, but do you most strongly identify with being in Guns N' Roses? What does that experience feel like looking back now?
I don't identify myself with that, and it's been a long time since. In going back, I went back to when I was 9 years old, in this book. I think that's why I was in a dark mood. Because I was living in the past for a couple of months, and it took about 14 months to write this book, and for a couple months, maybe three, I was living in the past. And I don't like to do that at all. You can't with kids….
I have great memories from them sure. But I see friends of mine from then, and they are stuck there. And life never got any better, so they talk about 1989 or 1991 or 1997. And that happens a lot with some of the people that were in and around us.
And you were on a flight with Kurt Cobain right before he died. And both of your bands had your crucial moments about the same time, right around there. Because everyone was saying Nirvana was the death of the L.A. scene and all that other stuff.
I think everybody but us were saying that. Everyone but the bands were saying that and that shouldn't be overlooked. It was about two years the press made a sort of big deal, and we were affected by it, by the hoopla. Guns N' Roses were playing stadiums when that was going down so we weren't affected businesswise by any new bands coming into the scene. But it sucked, being from Seattle and hearing the press making such a big deal about this being the death of rock. And kid's rock bands believe it all. And we were all too young to understand how to deal with that stuff. Really too young.
And in my experience, the ordinary guy, really, the ordinary guys were thrown into extraordinary circumstances with no guidance of how to get yourself through it. And you're left to your own devices, and it's a miracle all of us survived it. Steven's got some road marks that will never go away. And lives might be shortened by the excess. But none of us died. But you look at some of the other guys…Nirvana…Excess laid waste to a lot of my contemporaries.
But half of the book really isn't about that. It's about the way out. And that's the fun part of the story was me getting to the martial arts by fate. Someone led me to this martial arts sensei. And it was an amazing journey up and out of that murk. I hope that's what people come away from this book with is how I got out and how life can change and how you can take ownership, even though you're in this massive band.
I know you joined Axl [Rose, front man] last fall in London for the first time in ages. How is your relationship with the guys in Guns N' Roses?
It's great. I was there on financial business and not rock 'n' roll at all. Our rooms happened to be right next to each other of all the hotels and all the cities in the world. So I'm a grown-up, and I went over to his room. I think everyone was freaking out that our rooms were next to each other, except for me. I realized it was meant to happen this way. We hadn't talked for 13 years and that's dumb. As grown-up adult men, enough's enough.
So that was just a very personal moment. If there wasn't a gig that night, and I didn't go down to the gig with him and get up on stage, nobody would have known about the personal moment we had. And sometimes I wish I wouldn't have gotten up to play and just kept it a personal moment. But the relationship is fine with everyone.
Thrash metal pioneers Megadeth are back with their thirteenth studio album, titled (ahem) TH1RT3EN, scheduled for release on November 1, 2011. Drummer Shawn Drover chatted to us about the new album, the subsequent world tour and the band’s future releases.
MusicReview: It’s been stated that TH1RT3EN consists of new compositions and older material, which Dave [Mustaine] had written earlier in his career. My question is this: how do you guys know, or decide, when it’s time to revisit the older material?
Shawn Drover: What happened with this [was] we were talking about ideas for the new record and stuff, and Dave [Mustaine] brought up the idea of “What do you think about us doing ‘Millennium of the Blind’ and ‘New World Order’?â€; they were recorded as demos years ago and were released on the Youthanasia remaster, I believe, just as a couple of bonus songs that were laying around in the vault somewhere. I really had to back for it, because I think the songs kick ass and were never really recorded properly. I thought if we go in there and re-record the songs and make them sound killer and all that stuff, a lot of fans will dig it, because â€" obviously they’re fans of our songs â€" but they’re really good songs as well. And I thought it was a unique idea for us to do something like that, [as] it’s not something we’ve really done a whole lot, to be honest. At the end of the day, those songs kick ass; that’s the long and short of it; we’d never try re-record a couple of songs that suck, you know what I mean? I thought it would be cool thing for the fans and they’re just great songs as well. I really had to back for it, after the initial idea was brought forward by Dave.
MusicReview: Another thing I read in a recent interview with another member of Megadeth [Dave Ellefson] was that you really pushed for the song ‘New World Order’ to be included on TH1RT3EN. Why specifically that song? Is there something that you feel so strongly about that track that you needed it to be on the new album?
Shawn Drover: The long and short of it is I think it’s a great song. I thought it would really fit the structure of the new record. The way it was shaping up, and as the songs were being recorded, I just thought more and more, as time was going on, and I just kept saying let’s go with Dave’s initial idea here and record these songs and hear how they sound. Obviously we had to record them and get them finalised, and we had to think [to ourselves]: these songs are 20 years old now, and do they actually fit the record? To me, the answer is yes. That song [‘New World Order’], to me, is a really, good driving song, and, in my opinion, really should be included in the record â€" and thank God, it is.
MusicReview: Do you think there’s one specific song on the new album that is really going to surprise Megadeth fans? Something that you haven’t done before?
Shawn Drover: I don’t think so. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel here [in our music]. I think we recorded another batch of metal tunes, knowing what our fans and ourselves ultimately want to hear. There’s a mix on the record: there’s fast tunes, there’s some slower tunes, there’s mid [tempo] tunes. It’s a good collection of heavy metal songs. That’s really it. We never really go into studio with any preconceived notions of what we’re trying to do; we just know we got to write a bunch of new metal songs, or, in this case, [rework] a couple of old metal songs [which] were included on the record. I don’t think there’s anything on there really that is that musically different that fans are going to go, “Oh my God, why they’d record that kind of music?†At the end of the day, they’re all metal songs.
MusicReview: On that same topic, from a drummer’s perspective, is there anything that you did differently to push yourself on this new release, or did you try keep it simple, and, like you said, just creating a heavy metal record?
Shawn Drover: Yeah, I didn’t do any playing that was exactly outside of the box, because that doesn’t fit into the musical structure of Megadeth â€" to go off and do some kind of weird, jazz thing…you know what I mean? I always play for the song, whatever the song calls for. If it calls for a lot of double-bass drumming, that’s fine. If it calls for something that’s real, straight-ahead towards the floor, that’s fine, too. I always try to service the song. I don’t really play for myself, as much as I try play for the band. I’m just saying that it’s a team effort; nobody goes off and does their own thing. Whether it’s just a song or not, we all play a part in ultimately servicing the song; I think that’s one of the reasons why a lot of these songs stand the test of time, instead of being so self-indulgent where all you’re trying to do is please yourself; I think ultimately who we’re trying to please is as many people as possible.
MusicReview: This is your final album on your current label, and, reportedly, Dave [Mustaine] has mentioned that Megadeth will likely be releasing albums independently in the future. Have you guys sat down and discussed the next step, and secondly, can fans expect new music sooner rather than later now that labels are out of the picture?
Shawn Drover: No, we haven’t sat down at all about that. We’re in the “now†right now. We’re focused on this record coming out on the 1 November, and the subsequent world tour that we’re going to do way into 2012 â€" and God knows how long we’re gonna be on tour for this record â€"we usually go out for about a year-and-a-half for any record we do, so we haven’t really sat down and thought about anything beyond this tour that’s coming up. Obviously that conversation will come up [about] what avenue we’re going to take â€" I honestly have no idea what we’re going to do. But that’ll happen down the road. We’ll ultimately have the conversation of what direction we want to go…[if it’s] going solo with new music, with the way the whole record industry is on its ear right now, anyway…Who knows what can happen 2 years from now? Maybe some kind of new format will come out, or they’ll resolve this whole crazy issue of definitive piracy, which is continuing to [cripple the industry]. The problem is that too many people are stealing the music that it’s affected every facet of the industry: recording budget, touring budget, bands getting dropped because they’ve only sold x amounts of record…[the next 3 seconds of the conversation is inaudible due to a bad line]. With that said, some bands are taking it upon themselves to release it on their own. Whether we’ll do that or not, I have no idea, to be honest with you. We’re not that far along on that conversation. We’re just focused on what we’re doing right now, which is getting ready to go on tour and release this new record. That whole topic will come up when the time is right, and we’ll deal with it accordingly.
MusicReview: Dave [Mustaine] recently announced the return of Gigantour in 2012, which is something the band must be looking forward to, and you’ve also mentioned a world tour. Can you perhaps about some countries that Megadeth are looking at visiting?
Shawn Drover: For me, it’s always fun to go somewhere new. We’ve never been down to South Africa, have we?
MusicReview: No. I can’t recall Megadeth ever playing in South Africa. It’s been something that a lot of fans have wanted to see for a long time.
Shawn Drover: Right. I always like going to new places. We went to so many different countries last year that we’ve never been to before â€" and it’s always cool that we get to go to places we’ve never been and ultimately find out we have huge fan bases in some of these places (laughs). We went to Costa Rica for the first time in 2010, and we really had no idea how big our fan base was there. We played at a place in the middle of nowhere, at a racetrack, and we had 16 000 fans there, so it was a fantastic experience. With that said, obviously it would be great to come down and see where you guys are at, but that’s something I have no control over. That’s part of the business aspect of it with promoters down in South Africa and that whole kind of thing â€" that’s something I’m not even involved in. Ultimately, I think that would be a great thing if we could go down there, but we’ll just have to see what happens. But that’s always the fun thing for me just to explore and go to different, new countries we haven’t been to before. Hopefully that’ll happen with you guys as well.
MusicReview: We hope so, too. Thank you very much for your time, Shawn.
Shawn Drover: Thanks, man. Appreciate it.
'80s thrash legends Anthrax have reunited with original singer Joey Belladonna and just released Worship Music, their first studio album in eight years. They're considered one of the "Big Four" of thrash metal, along with Megadeth, Slayer, and Metallica; the four bands, once rivals, have played several stadium shows together in the past two years, including a colossal show at Yankee Stadium last month.
I'm dating a guy who's awesome in almost every way, but he hates metal. You should see his face when I put on Live After Death in the car. How seriously should I take this?
Charlie Benante [drums]: At a certain point, it's going to reach a point where you will say these words: "What do we have in common?"And music is always such a big thing because it takes up a good part of your life, whether it's listening to it or going to shows. If he can't hang with that, he's not the right person for you.
Frank Bello [bass]: I don't know if you guys are compatible. Metal is life, isn't it?

Frank Bello [bass]: I don't know if you guys are compatible. Metal is life, isn't it?
That is often held to be true.
FB: Yeah, so, for me, my wife likes metal, but she doesn't live on metal, you know? It can work, but it's got to be a compromise. If you can have other things in common, that can work, but if the other things aren't working, that's telling you something.

You know, I was just reading Dave Mustaine's memoir, and he says his wife never liked metal in general or Megadeth in specific.
CB: That's not a good thing.
CB: That's not a good thing.
There's this girl I really like, but once we got in the sack, the sex turned out to be awful. What should I do?
CB: There are so many different answers to that. One answer is give her money for cab fare and see her on her way. But if you really like the girl...
FB: Watch some porn! Honestly — you want to know the truth? If she's really bad, porn can help her learn. If you can learn some good moves, why not?

I've been dating my boyfriend for years, and he's always had dreams of becoming famous with his garage band from high school. I feel like it's time for him to give up and make music a side project. How can I approach this topic?
CB: You've got to approach it delicately, of course. I think you need to address it like, "Look, I think you're so talented, but the other people around you are just not cutting it and I hate to see you waste more time with it."
CB: You've got to approach it delicately, of course. I think you need to address it like, "Look, I think you're so talented, but the other people around you are just not cutting it and I hate to see you waste more time with it."
Blame the rest of the band, you'd say.
CB: Of course.
FB: I don't think you should stand in the way of anybody's dreams. If it's a real relationship, you've got to support them, no matter what. A big part of a relationship is to support the person to the fullest you can. There's no me-me-me.
CB: Of course.

We're visiting my boyfriend's parents for a week. What are some ground rules we should set for having sex in their house?
CB: Bring your own locks. Install sensors so that if someone comes down the hallway a light goes on in the room.
FB: You've got to be really quiet. No moaning. It's going to be fun, but get ready to bite that pillow. Have some respect, and don't be screaming, because then you will get busted. It's definitely going to be fun if you know how to do it.
CB: Also, you can try to send the parents on their way somewhere — get them to go out to dinner.

When I was listening to Among the Living in high school, I didn't think I would ever be asking you these questions.
FB: It's kind of great! It's a complete change of pace!
FB: It's kind of great! It's a complete change of pace!
I'm dating a girl who likes it rough, but I feel weird being overly aggressive during sex. How can I relax and enjoy it more?
CB: You can't adapt to it? Stop being a fuckin' pussy and man up!
FB: Make her lead the charge — ask her what she wants. What's too much, and what's too little. Let her give you direction.

What Anthrax song should I put on when I'm trying to convince the girl I like to make out with me?
CB: "Caught in a Mosh." That would be the one.
CB: "Caught in a Mosh." That would be the one.
"Safe Home?"
CB: No. Too obvious.
CB: No. Too obvious.
Scott Ian just took off some tour dates because he and his wife are having a baby. If you'd told '80s-era Anthrax that that would someday happen, how would the five of you have reacted?
FB: In this band, it's always been family first. I think that's the way to be. We'll work around it. Everybody's happy and compatible.
CB: It was just a matter of time, but for me, I wouldn't have wanted to do it when I was really young. I wouldn't have been a good dad.

CB: It was just a matter of time, but for me, I wouldn't have wanted to do it when I was really young. I wouldn't have been a good dad.
Do you think you would've been surprised to find yourself in this place?
FB: No — the longevity of the band, that's what I'm surprised at.
FB: No — the longevity of the band, that's what I'm surprised at.
Back in the day, what was the best way to sleep with a member of Anthrax?
CB: Bring comic books. [laughs] Yeah, that and a six pack of Sapporo.
FB: Show up? No, actually, I was never a stud boy, but everybody had their fun. Show your brain, really. Show that you're more than just a bod, because bodies are everywhere. I mean, we were never really a stud band anyway. We were a metal band! A girl would have to just be herself, quite honestly, and not be somebody she's not, and not come on too heavy. It always had to be a little more than the obvious. But, you know, thems were the early days. They are far away. It's all about the metal now.

Do you have any good hookup stories from back in the day?
FB: Well, everybody had their fun in the '80s. There was some crazy stuff. Our crew loved us, because for the most part the band really wouldn't go crazy with that kind of stuff, so the crew would partake in a lot of it. From what I've heard, there are some volumes of... pictures, if you know what I mean.
CB: We did like to take care of the crew. They were hard-working.

So you guys were the bait.
FB: Yeah, I guess you could call it that.

FB: Yeah, I guess you could call it that.

Who of the five of you got the most action on the road?
CB: It depends on which decade you're talking. In the '80s, probably Dan Spitz. He was just that guy. He was ruthless.
CB: It depends on which decade you're talking. In the '80s, probably Dan Spitz. He was just that guy. He was ruthless.
So it wasn't that he was super-smooth?
CB: Nope. He was just super-committed.
CB: Nope. He was just super-committed.
Rank the Big Four in terms of sex appeal.
FB: I don't think the Big Four and sex appeal are... equal. It's more about just brutal metal. If you get turned on by that, all good.
FB: I don't think the Big Four and sex appeal are... equal. It's more about just brutal metal. If you get turned on by that, all good.
So you would rank them all last? Come on, man, you've got to at least rank Anthrax first.
Dan Spitz at the height of his committedness.
FB: Well, that's obvious. [laughs]
CB: That would be very egocentric, to put us in the sexiest position. To all metal fans, I think it's a very attractive bill. But sexiest? Slayer. Violence is very sexy.
CB: That would be very egocentric, to put us in the sexiest position. To all metal fans, I think it's a very attractive bill. But sexiest? Slayer. Violence is very sexy.
In that case, who's sexier — Megadeth, or Metallica?
CB: Well, Metallica has Kirk Hammett, the sexiest man on the planet.
CB: Well, Metallica has Kirk Hammett, the sexiest man on the planet.
I'm going to tell Dave Mustaine you said that.
CB: I don't care. Although actually, the thing about Megadeth is their drummer has the best hair in rock. He spends, I think, $200 a week on hair products. Oh, he's going to hate when he reads that.

So, Frank, you're playing Richard Hell in this upcoming Jeff Buckley biopic, and you've worked as an actor and a musician for a long time. Which has gotten you more women?
FB: Musician. Easy. Oh yeah, dude. You have a guitar on, people are just drawn, which is cool. Before I played, I was always drawn to people who play guitar. It's a natural thing.

So should I keep going with my band, or go to acting school?
FB: You should do both!
FB: You should do both!
Will there be any more Big Four shows?
FB: It's up to Metallica. It's their game, and obviously we couldn't play Yankee Stadium without Metallica. I'm ready, believe me. The other bands, I know we're all in. I'd love to.
CB: Each band has a Big Four phone that Metallica gave us. When it rings, we'll be there to answer it.

Reunited U.K. rockers WOLFSBANE — featuring former IRON MAIDEN frontman Blaze Bayley — recently finished recording their new CD for an early 2012 release. According to guitarist Jase Edwards, "[The CD] will be available from Wolfsbanehms.com before the tour and sold on the tour at the merch stand alongside some brand new t-shirt designs. The record will hit the music stores in January. Watch for the official announcement of the exact date of release along with the name of the album."
WOLFSBANE — which features Bayley, Jase Edwards, bassist Jeff Hateley and drummer Steve Danger — released its first record in 17 years in April. Entitled "Did It For The Money", it contained the brand new title track along with re-recordings of four old WOLFSBANE numbers.
Commenting on the reunion, Blaze said, "Although we have done other things over the years, we always had WOLFSBANE in our hearts and following our tour with THE QUIREBOYS last year, we had so much fun and have had so much interest that we decided to get back in the studio."
Formed in 1984 in Tamworth, England, WOLFSBANE signed to Def American Records, and Rick Rubin produced the band's first album, "Live Fast, Die Fast", released in 1989. WOLFSBANE's second release, an EP titled "All Hell's Breaking Loose Down", followed in 1990. The band's second studio album, "Down Fall the Good Guys", was released in 1991, giving WOLFSBANE its only U.K. chart entry, with the single "Ezy" landing at No. 68.
After Def American dropped WOLFSBANE, the band released a live album, "Massive Noise Injection", through the Bronze label in 1993. The group's third studio album, the self-titled "Wolfsbane", followed in 1994.
On September 9, 2007, WOLFSBANE reformed for a one-off short set at the Rock of Ages festival in Tamworth. This was followed by their first U.K. tour in 13 years, with the band playing five dates as support for the THE WILDHEARTS in December 2007. Their next tour came in December 2009 supporting THE QUIREBOYS on the aforementioned "A Little Bit of What You Fancy 20th Anniversary Tour".

According to WCFCourier.com, an Iowa woman is suing legendary rocker Sammy Hagar for allegedly breaking a secret agreement and distorting the facts when he wrote in his book about a child he allegedly conceived with her in the late 1980s while he was the lead singer for VAN HALEN.
In the book, "Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock", Hagar wrote about a former Playboy bunny he met in Detroit. The book alleges she later extorted the musician, claiming he was the father of her child, in order to receive support money during the pregnancy. He denied paternity in the book.
In the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Black Hawk County District Court, the woman asserts Hagar improperly portrays her in the book as a schemer who seduced him.
When asked why he decided to write a memoir, Hagar said in a March 2011 interview, "I needed to give my fans something. I have amazing fans, and I wanted to give them an honest look at my life and where I'm coming from. They've been so loyal to me over the years and have given me so much, so they deserve to know everything I can possibly tell them about myself. Spreading around some of the trash of my life wasn't the reason for writing the book. I mean, yeah, those things did happen. [laughs] I can't lie and say they didn't. But sleaze wasn't the predominant idea. I wasn't going, 'Let's see how much I can shock people.' The book is for my non-fans, too. This is my manual for people who are going through rough times to tell them, 'It can be accomplished. If you can dream it, you can attain it.' I know that sounds trite, but I'm living proof that you can do anything if you just keep at it. So, in that way, it's an uplifting success story. I made sure to keep the tone inspirational while, at the same time, 100 percent factual."

James Durbin, the 22-year-old rocker from Santa Cruz, California who was one of the finalists on the last season of "American Idol", will release his debut album, "Memories Of A Beautiful Disaster", on November 21 via Wind-Up Records.
The CD's cover artwork can be seen below.
A new Durbin track, "Stand Up" (hear audio below), has been released as part of volume 2 of the "Official Gameday NFL Music" EP, which features additional songs by Jordin Sparks, Darius Rucker, HINDER and Sammy Hagar.
Material from the EP will be used by the NFL throughout the season, providing some great exposure for Durbin across America.
"Official Gameday NFL Music Vol. 2" track listing:
01. DARIUS RUCKER - "Kick Off"
02. HINDER - "The Fight's About To Begin"
03. SAMMY HAGAR - "Knockdown"
04. JAMES DURBIN - "Stand Up"
05. JORDAN SPARKS - "You Gotta Want It"
MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars revealed via Twitter last month that he was in the studio working on "a killer track" with Durbin.
"That's right! That's Mick Fuckin Mars!!!!! Playing on MY record!!! This is so unbelievable!!!!" tweeted Durbin in reply to Mick's message. He also attached a photo of what appeared to be the MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist laying down a track in the studio.
Durbin told USA Today in May that he was planning to record an album, with what he described as a "[DIO] 'Holy Diver', [BLACK SABBATH] 'Neon Knights'-type" feel. "I potentially heard my first single yesterday," he said, adding that it "still has a heavy edge and is radio friendly." He also wrote a song with James Michael (SIXX: A.M., SCORPIONS, MÖTLEY CRÜE) and frequent AEROSMITH collaborator Marti Frederiksen.
Durbin performed JUDAS PRIEST's classic songs "Living After Midnight" and "Breaking The Law" with the British heavy metal legends themselves during the "American Idol" May finale.
Durbin sang the JUDAS PRIEST classic "You Got Another Thing Coming" on the March 1 edition of "Idol" (see video below). His rendition marked the first time, according to AEROSMITH singer and "American Idol" judge Steven Tyler, where a JUDAS PRIEST single was performed on the "Idol" stage.
In a recent interview with SoundSpike, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford called Durbin "brilliant. Absolutely sensational." He added, "The first we heard about James and the connection with PRIEST was when he covered our song 'You've Got Another Thing Comin''. We were really excited to hear that was taking place. As we kind of followed his growth through the last season of 'Idol' and listening to him speak, it became clear he was a champion for heavy metal music.
"I can recall, right from these early weeks, thinking, 'If this guy gets to where we hope he's going to get, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if something comes our way, in terms of do we want to get involved.' When the call came, we weren't 100 percent surprised. We were absolutely delighted. We dropped everything to fly to Los Angeles and then fly back to London, all within the space of a couple days. It was a great moment for James and, more importantly, it was a great moment for heavy metal music because it was suddenly in the arms of 30-odd-million-plus households throughout the USA. And then, of course, it bounced around the rest of the world afterward. Everything that we've done in those types of appearances for us has been not only for Priest but championing the cause of heavy metal music."

Florida-based guitarist-turned-producer James Murphy, who is best known for his guitar work with TESTAMENT, DEATH, OBITUARY, CANCER and DISINCARNATE, has posted the following message on his Facebook page:
"Some troubling news for me in the last couple days. The bloodwork that was done recently revealed that the hormone indicator for the tumor I battled and defeated nine years ago is now 20 times higher than the low it reached as recently as one year ago. This could be indicative of a recurrence. Next step is an MRI, scheduled for the 11th of this month, to determine how much the tumor has grown. I am keeping a positive attitude about it and just moving forward."
Deron Miller (WORLD UNDER BLOOD, CKY), who worked with Murphy on WORLD UNDER BLOOD's debut album, is trying to raise money to help cover James' medical expenses. He has posted the following message on his Facebook page:
"James Murphy, legendary rock/metal guitarist (helped me with WORLD UNDER BLOOD's 'Tactical' CD) has just informed me that the brain tumor he was diagnosed with in [2001] had been improving and shrinking for the last several years... is returning rapidly. If my wife Felissa and I could get our Facebook friends to each PayPal at least $1, he will have an easier time covering the expenses that come with having no insurance and being a musician/producer. I'm asking you to contribute as much as you want, but the person that contributes the most will recieve something very special from my wife and I. I'm not trying to make a competition out of this, I just want my buddy well again. Please share this post and the PayPal address is felissarose123@aol.com. 100% of the money will go to his treatment and expenses. Thanks so much in advance!!!"
In August 2001, Murphy was discovered to have a massive tumor growth near the base of his brain and was quickly scheduled for an urgent life-saving operation. James underwent surgery on September 17, 2001 at the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, Florida. Neurosurgeon Dr. Frank Vrionis and head and neck surgeon Dr. John Song, performed the operation using a Maxillary Swing procedure that made entry through the left side of the face. An incision was made underneath the left eye, along the side of the nose, and finally through the middle of the upper lip. The facial tissue was then pulled back and the cheekbone removed. They then cut through James' sinus and made entry below the orbit of the eye to remove a portion of the growth. More was removed through an incision made in the soft pallet inside the mouth. About 70% of the tumor was removed, the remainder being too close to vital structures to risk further damage. The sinus was then packed with fat tissue taken from the lower abdomen via an incision below the navel and reattached. The cheekbone was set back in place and held with two small titanium plates. The facial tissue was then sutured closed along with the soft pallet. His mouth was fitted with a prosthesis to protect the pallet tissue while it healed. The remaining 30% of the tumor was treated with a medication to shrink it called Parlodel (Bromocriptine), which James was told he would have to take for the rest of his life.

After hibernating over the last few years, the original lineup of Seattle metal legends HEIR APPARENT — Derek Peace (bass), Ray Schwartz (drums), Paul Davidson (lead vocals) and Terry Gorle (guitar, vocals) — has reunited and will perform its classic album "Graceful Inheritance" (1986) in its entirety at the Metal Assault II festival in Würzburg, Germany on January 14, 2012. Additional dates in Greece and Cyprus are also planned. These will mark HEIR APPARENT's first European shows with the original lineup (including Davidson) in over two decades.
When founding member and band leader Terry Gorle was asked what brought the reunion on, he responded, "Well, I received several offers for European dates, and I've been talking to the guys for a while now, and it just felt like a natural thing at this point. They are all committed to rehearsing and making this happen and it's a great opportunity for the fans to hear the album 'Graceful Inheritance' live, with all the original members. We have even been working on new material as well and hopefully will have it out by spring of 2012."
HEIR APPARENT 2011 is:

Norwegian metallers SUSPERIA will release a CD celebrating their 10-year anniversary as a recording artist, "We Are The Ones", on November 11. According to a press release, "This album marks 10 years of releases, and at the same time a nice end of a circle where Mustis (ex-DIMMU BORGIR), who participated on SUSPERIA's first demo in 1999, now returns after 12 years to once again put his magical touch on new, as well as old songs. A very fruitful cooperation which now has led to some fantastic re-recordings of some very popular, classic songs, now in complete symphonic versions. A brand new song has been recorded, with a massive orchestral theme. The contribution to this year's Eurovision Song Contest is of course featured. And to round up a celebratory album of this magnitude the right way, here it is finally, the entire infamous demo recording from 1999; 'Illusions Of Evil'! Remastered and officially released for the very first time. Øyvind 'Mustis' Mustaparta has been a guest musician in the band for a period of six months, and the result of this junction is finally ready. Really just a huge celebration of the longtime brotherhood of the band, and an even bigger thank you to the devoted fans worldwide. What contributes to making this album so special now is the fact that SUSPERIA, in their 12-year existence, have had the same lineup of members, without exception. This is very rare, and quite special not only in the metal genre, but in the whole music industry in general. Especially within bands consisting of five or more members. This will also be vocalist Athera's first release with SUSPERIA since the near-fatal heart attack in March 2009, and the subsuquent open-heart surgery."

Italian black/death metal band DISGUISE has inked a deal with My Kingdom Music. The group's new album, "Second Coming", will be released on January 16, 2012.
According to a press release, DISGUISE "come back after four years of apparent silence, giving life, after 13 years of career, to their most mature, complete and personal creature. 'Second Coming' reaches the highest levels of aggressivity revealing the most hateful and insane feelings of the human sickness. Perverse vocals and sorrowful atmospheres in the old MAYHEM style are the frame for a violent black metal with shades of modern metal, enriched by the assault of the death as only SATYRICON, DARK FUNERAL and MARDUK have been able to performing during the last years."

In other news, ACHERON is booked for the Gathering Of The Bestial Legions festival in Los Angeles, California, the Neurotic Deathfest in Holland and Mayhem In May festival in Louisville, Kentucky. In May 2010, ACHERON founder/bassist/vocalist Vincent Crowley announced that the band was calling it quits and that it would not be doing any more shows or making any more albums.
