I think part of the reason for the criticism George was because Bolan initiated so called "glam rock" - fancy clothes, sparkling makeup, "pretty boys" in the band, etc.

Do you remember in the 70's when T-Rex was often criticized as "not a serious rock band" ? I actually like their songs too but have wondered for years why they received such unfair criticism.
