David Live is a great record, one of the seriously under-rated live albums ever.

Anybody know if its a straight-ahead concert recording, or if its one of those heavily-editted and cleaned up after the fact studio efforts?

My brother dug into Bowie in a major way, so I got to benefit from having the library at hand without having to buy it myself. I can't say everything of his appeals to me, but alot of it did/does. I think it was either Diamond Dogs, or David Live that was the breakthrough for me. The live album is top drawer, no question, but Diamond Dogs was a loose concept that borrowed some words/thoughts from my favourite author at the time (Orwell) and that kept my interest long enough to learn to appreciate the music.

Later on albums like Station to Station became standards in my rotation.

I never got into Bowie and don't listen to him at all. I know there were/are some real Bowie fans out there .... but I just wasn't one of them.
