Maybe. I know I've come 'round to some artists many years after the fact and been happy with the results, sometimes not ; )
Not sure where I'd recommend someone trying Bowie out to start with. I know that the purists will point to the early years and albums like Ziggy Stardust or Man Who Sold the World, etc.
Station to Station is one of his most accessible to my ears, without dipping to far into the poppier sound.
IF you like live albums, I would always give the nod to David Live. Nicely recorded, very good performance.

I should give Bowie a listen.
I say that because so many of the greats that I really like and appreciate now [Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Neil Young, etc] I didn't especially care for 30 or 40 years ago. Perhaps Bowie will be the same ??

My brother dug into Bowie in a major way, so I got to benefit from having the library at hand without having to buy it myself. I can't say everything of his appeals to me, but alot of it did/does. I think it was either Diamond Dogs, or David Live that was the breakthrough for me. The live album is top drawer, no question, but Diamond Dogs was a loose concept that borrowed some words/thoughts from my favourite author at the time (Orwell) and that kept my interest long enough to learn to appreciate the music.Later on albums like Station to Station became standards in my rotation.ClintFrom: bkushner@mcsnet.caSent: Tuesday, August 02, 2011 11:16 PMSubject: Re: [Classic_Rock_Forever] Re: Top 5 Favourite Records for August
I never got into Bowie and don't listen to him at all. I know there were/are some real Bowie fans out there .... but I just wasn't one of them.
