NJ was an awesome show and the 2 extra songs were a treat!!!...i was in the inner circle with my sister like 3rd row from the stage...i can attest to some unbelieveable behavior we witnessed...the bunch of douche bags holding the Irish flag annoying the crap out of everyone, followed by 1 of them pissing in a cup!!! i cannot understand why security did not throw them out!!! Also, what really really annoyed me was those 2 middle aged women who just blatantly cut in an hour before the show and tried to be friendly friendly with everyone and started flirting with some guys behind us...my sister and i were giving them the look of death...like REALLY...WTF??? Apart from that, great show, great energy...

Derek,
Weather wasn't that bad -- overcast most of the day. Similar to Philly weather
discomfort-wise and slightly worse than Baltimore. St. Louis & Nashville were
FAR, FAR worse...
GA line was orderly & civilized. Good line integrity management by security,
good vibes among GAers in line. NJ also had a cooling tent by the GA line,
which was nice. (But for managing through the heat & humidity, hats off & major
kudos to St. Louis for having 3 fire-hydrant connected showers running all day
for the GA line, free water, and 2 cooling tents on the stadium field... by far
the most thought out and well prepared to date!)
Some disgusting behavior by a few assh!?e punks in the inner circle -- and it
was initiated by a security guy (who was a "friend" of the punk leader) in the
center of the inner circle, if you can believe that! Sadly, it has been in NY
(2 shows in Sep'09 & last night) that I've seen some really bad apples mess it
up for alot of the folks in the inner circle; why security cannot adopt a "zero
tolerance" policy rather than "if you do it one more time..." attitude (similar
situation happened in Baltimore) is beyond me. And then there was the customary
rudeness by latecomers (wait for it -- yes, women in their late thirties
& 40s) making it much more crowded by cutting in front of people who were in
line all day.
Having said all that, the energy level in the new stadium was rockingly high!
Partly, I think, because we hoped for an appearance by The Boss onstage with The
Boys (which didn't happen even though Bruce was in the house). Last night
further reinforces my belief The Boys are responding even more to the audience
as the tour winds down. The St Louis crowd was average, and we got an average
show there. But in New Meadowlands Stadium, the energy level was crazy and the
inner circle did its part to feed the band. Plus, there was emotion simply
expressed by the audience -- 10 deep of the front rail, two young boys (high
school likely, maybe early college) behind me had a very basic handwritten sign
saying "For Clarence". Before Moment of Surrender, Bono saw it and asked for
the sign, and he placed it in front of Larry's drum kit. A simple, beautiful
gesture and moment which further endeared the crowd to the band. So I really
wasn't surprised about the longer show -- but I WAS surprised by The Boys'
decision to play one more -- Out of Control -- after Moment of Surrender. It
was truly awesome!
Frank

Wow! Two extra songs! I'm so sad I missed it. Any explanation as to why the
extra? Was it payback for the endurance of the GA'ers who were in the stunning
heat all day? How was the GA line by the way?
