When I heard Ted Nugent was performing in Anaheim, I didn't know what to think. Sure, he was the crazy madman of rock on the 70's, but almost 35 years later surely must have mellowed him. I was wrong & he's crazier than ever !
Ted turned up the amps and the cussing from the first song. Everyone stood up and didn't sit down for the entire concert. This was a rock assult on the audience who couldn't get enough.
Nugent weaving thru his string of hit songs but managed to wedge in some rockin' soul, blues and motown riffs. He admitted he's been rockin' since the 50's and played some of his early songs hadn't been heard before.
His love of America is undeniable. With a huge American flag behind him while he played on a red, white and blue guitar, Ted was anything but "PC" that night, letting his opinons of the current administration fly.
For "Great White Buffalo", he came up in a full indian headdress. The finale of the concert was a live re-enactment of the "Raising of the Flags at Iwo Jima", while Ted yelling repeatedly "Never forget !".
Nugent is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but he puts on one of the best rock concerts I have ever seen. People were stumbling & happy as they left the building, wondering what just hit them. That's Ted Nugent, folks, and it's like a breath of fresh air !
