Please note that the balloon was not manufactured for free. Money better
spent on taxes, or charities, I would think.

Subject: [u2tour] Re: Glastonbury Boycott
U2 also has contributed millions towards keeping music education in the
schools in Ireland, thus putting a vital program in schools and freeing up
resources to be used elsewhere in Education. Notice that the protestors are
largely ignoring this and other contributions that U2 has done?
The band is an easy target -- they are big, Bono is a very public celebrity
and there are TV cameras around willing to put anyone on for the sake of a
"different angle." However, they have been putting money INTO the Irish
system for years as the country's biggest export. The real criminals are
the politicians who have not used that money to bolster the economy and
other systems, not worked with companies to keep them on Irish soil, and
basically run on the principal that the good times would always last.
I support people who contribute, openly and honestly like U2 have done. I
don't support people who can't do their homework properly and research
things but take the easy way and want a hand out (which is these
protestors). I urge everyone to really think about what is being said, look
into anything that troubles you and make your decisions based on good solid
research rather than a high quality soundbite.
