Art Uncut doesn't know what they are talking about! U2 is based in The
Netherlands NOT Ireland and for a good reason. Therefore they are not
obliged to pay taxes in Ireland on their music industry. Furthermore,
every tax dollar paid in any country with those levels of corruption and
government mafias (AKA: Africa, Latin America, Asia and certainly Ireland
and other countries in Europe) as is the case with many of these
governments, is a tax dollar that will NOT reach those poor, austerity-hit
needed communities. U2 does a lot more through their direct aid and
worldwide help.
Don't be fooled by these headlines. Do a little more research about what
happens with tax money in countries like Ireland and what people (like Bono)
do with their own charities.
