Hi,
Well if I ever have rap questions, I'll be sure to ask here and my big
neighbor, Dee.
I was thinking of Bruce Springsteen's son "Evan" who is 18 or older now but
long after both these blues raps (Springsteen, Run DMC, Green Day, Eminem)
were made with no lyrics ahead of time, freestyle in front of a live
audience. They stream at http://www.mahlers.com.
There's a song named "Freedom" by Audrey Kelly and myself, recorded live at
the Prodigal Son of Hyannis, September 19, 2001. It's ASCAP and US
Copyright covered since 2003-04. Springsteen used "Freedom" for his title
track (and Grammy nominated) "Devils &Dust". Just listen to Freedom,
especially after the 4 count and you will hear "Devils & Dust" and the
harmonica solo (me), Audrey (guitar and vocals) and me on vocals. I've not
been paid, I contacted Springsteens manager Jon Landau with the songs and he
wrote back stating there is no similarities and he reserves for his client
the right to do as they/he will about an autograph photo I had on my website
at the time. We're talking millions, at least $2,000,000 for me and Audrey
to split and residual monies afterwards. My sister-in-law Julie Forest is
an A+ graduate attorney out of Otis, MA. and she has the job if she wants
it, I think she will. I don't want to fight, I want to live with darkness
and light.
FREEDOM IS NOT FOR FREE You can't separate peace from freedom because no one
can be at peace unless he has his freedom. Malcolm X
--We're All Gonna Get Paid--
August 2004
Recorded at the Hyannis Town Green, Hyannis, MA.
I was used
Oh, anybody you did use
Come here just the other night just to say
This musician is gonna get up here and play
Oh that was your body that was played
Forever innocent it's permanently displayed
Now what's the sense of doing all that
Do you think it was just the tip of my hat
Let you know that was your life gone by
Oh without nary a tear from my eye
Someday soon you're gonna get paid
Oh it ain't as easy as made in the shade
I swear it just might not be true as of yet
But that is certainly a most certain safe certain bet
And that ain't just any storm that's gonna blow by
And that's a little bit more than rain in your eye
I swear it might be love but it's true
Same message every day different but repeated to you
Oh but repeated to you
Oh but repeated to you
Oh about those things you do
I do declare there are some witnesses over there
Who hears everything a singers got to say
Now do I need to repeat the story that is online
About the loving you did while I was asleep for some time
Dear if that ain't whoring I don't know what of it's true
Same thing you might be saying about this singing I do
Believe me that this ice is paid
About me getting a job who needs one anyway
Taxes too I believe that money is well spent
About this life that's been living something like hell bent
Now I don't need to repeat a story that's been true
Now the next time you look at me I say it ain't true
About these things I didn't want to happen here
Mmm, same things repeating man year after year
Someday soon you might face me just the same way
About these reasons why it's history that's been gained
Excuse me but that ain't no dinner I eat
I need nothing more than a better sense of treat
Excuse me about the way this stories been displayed
Me and this harmonica alone everyday
I remember us sitting up in bed
Not that I remember what was going on instead
By the bottom of my own very two feet
Two strangers and this woman did meet
Now I needn't remember a certain thing
Except but this image this memory still brings
Left up there somewhere online
That's why I've been saying everyday every single time
Need me to repeat it again
You're wondering why I remained your friend
Sensibility about me singing all this
Center stage I do regret I don't miss
That kind of special loving you've been seeking all the time
About the sense of me trying to make a new kind of rhyme
That is someone sitting listening to all this
I do remember there's no regretting sense to all this
Mmm, there's no sense of regretting to all this
You might remember why I tried to repeat it again
Everybody's got their own special friend
That might be just as well we know
I swear that's the reason why a storm this way will blow
Now do I need to say do it again
That's just between myself and my own special friend
His name was Gandhi but now he's dead
But just consider the life he tried to have led
Now this is America Hyannis I do mean it's true
Now this harmonica is G and it's blues
Do I need to remember all this
About this special loving I seem to miss
Next morning when I wake up beside you my friend
Just remember what driving is all about my friend
You gave me a mission here and believe me it's true
About all that special loving that's been due to come to you
Don't try to break open this man
By repeating everything that's been done across this land
Because all that does is make a threat out of me
About this reason why I live by this creed
Now if your looking for the same look to your eye
Don't stop to remember the reasons why
That is the message that you have been saying to me
Now I got to believe that is your own special creed
So the next time you're remembering this
That is why I still call you Misses miss
Excuse me for making this tune
Now I gotta be going leaving soon
Goodnight and I gotta say
Someday soon we're all gonna get paid
--Something There Too--
October 2003
Recorded live at The Prodigal Son, Hyannis, MA. With some unexpected help
from the audience.
Mm-Hm Sniff
Mm-Mm-Mm-Mm
Uhuh - Uhuh
So I sold my soul
To someone you know
And now there's somebody lettin' me
Try to let it go
I got to get it back
It's somewhere you know
I got to find this thing called my inner soul
Mm-mm
So the vacuum cleaner sucks it up all inside
And all the dirt and the pot and soil we hide
And now there's something called little bit of L. S. D.
I'm seeing what it was that was inside of me
So the stories I've read might be true
It's something I didn't do just-a how 'bout you
Mm-hm eh-mm, eh-mm, eh-mm
It was the Kennedy's that were in our best first
But I do believe that isn't someone else's hearse
And there's something that you might not see
It's just something there inside of me
Mm-mm, mm-mm
So I might up-end you deep inside
But you know there's endless sleepless nights
Oh where you laughed and cried and you mightily tried
All the things we said and the things we keep inside
Mm-mm, mm-mm
And so there is this man in our own dreams
He died on the cross and now he's on the media scene
I know I've seen him before and now he's come back for more
I'm telling you that he is in your bedroom drawer
It's a little book, named it, there-ere it is
And I know that there is this clue in there
That tells you where you've been and what you've seen
And I know that it's your own personal dream
And that something shared that you do not dare
Let it out, do you mind and do you care
Uhuh, mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm
Oh yeah, uh-uh, uh-uh, whoa yeah
Uh-uh, oh yeah, uh-huh, yeah
So I've lived in lets see, 1,2, 3
Apartments right here in Hyannis part of history
I've been told there's a man that's been here before me
And the stories are true, yes they are there for me
Mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm
Whoa-oh, uh-uh, uh-uh
And so somebody will arise agai-
Who's is it this time now, who's eyes is it in
And I'm wondering where my brain did go
But sooner or later there'll be a T. V. show
That show's you where you think you might've been
And there's something in your next of kin
And there's something you might understand
It's something that keeps you grounded in the place your in
And I know that someday I'll be there too
But as I am standing here right in front of you
I might be making no sense but who dares care
And I know that there's this electric stare
There's a baseball man gettin' ready to swing
There's a pictures on the wall of the lives we bring
And I'm telling you as you steered around
And there's something that you might know underground
There's a house up the road with a crypt inside
I know it's there my in-laws did not lie
And there's something there on the end of the street
There's something there underneath my feet
There's just a one place I might like to go
There's a one place where there's an all man show
And in an only one place all man show
Can only be one thing where women go
There's is a joint unity in the shows we show
I know there's something that we show
And I know as you talk and it gets louder in here
I might be going insane but do I care
I believe there's somethin' in my stare there
That tells you where I've been in there
And there's something that just keeps me scared
And there's something that keeps me keep on darin'
In there there's something that I do not say
And there's someplace that I tread today
And there's someplace that I might like to go
But there's only one thing that I need to know
Do you mind do you just really care
I might be there before you tread there
Oh as you might know you might already been there
And there's something there inside your stare
As you grow inside and you see inside
As you know inside it is your life
And there's the life we share and keep inside
And in the things we let out well we cannot hide
So you think your pictures are developed freely
I'm a tellin' you I've seen e'm all easily
And in even though you might not know there
Is something in your television there
And there's talk all around it's driving me mad
As you grabbed your bag are you really glad
And I know that somethin's your mind
And I might be finding peace of mind
And the shared we drink and the things we say
I'm not making sense but do I care anyway
I know someday tha-
