Re: [u2tour] Montreal July 8,9 Where to Stay....

Hi!

We will brink folding chairs and snacks. People will let you leave the line and come back if they know you(and you can trade off), and there is always a self -imposed numbering system (numbers on your hand and a sheet of paper with number an name on it) for at least the first few hundreds of people. Whomever is in front of the line starts it. It works well, and everyone worries less about line-jumpers. You could always line up earl, and she can show up later (just write her name beside the next number on the page, and she can put her number on her wrist when she arrives at 10am--people don't mind if you do it for your partner--I have done it!!)

We will return stuff to hotel of car before 2 pm, because security will usually tell you to ditch the chairs by then and start really lining everyone up (that's when the stress begins, haha!!)

In NY we just ditched the chairs at the stadium because we were no-where near our hotel, and had no car.

Good luck...

Caroline

I'm not sure I can convince my fiancee to line up that early but we may head over around 10AM....We don't want to be walking zombies once the show starts, having lined up all day! We won the lottery for the ellipse for the Vertigo tour in Ottawa, so it'll be hard to beat the arena experience...It's too bad that system didn't carry over for the stadium tour.

We had GA's before in Toronto two years ago, and we got there too late and spent most of the time watching the band on screen just outside the ellipse. Would rather not repeat that experience.

Sounds like if you have GA tickets we'll be doing a lot of camping around the horse track! I think the places to eat/site see will be limited!

The better restaurants are actually NOT in Old Montreal; Old Montreal is a tourist trap. I don't like it--pretty to walk through but I would eat in the downtown area.

Is there anything to see around the Hippodrome or are you better off staying closer to downtown or old Montreal? Google street view of the Hippodrome looks like a strip mall to me, so I'm not sure there will be anything to do around there....
