They werent the same guys in 1962 that they were in 1969. They grew in different directions and the stress of everything they went thru, no band could survive that. A friend of mine, Beatles freak who has read everything ever written about them, and every interview he could get his hands on, believes John Lennon was a true rebel in every sense of the word... and he thinks part of Lennon always wanted out of the band as soon as it became a successs... that there was a self-destructive streak in him from day one.

Paul, on the other hand, LOVED being a Beatle and still does.

All good points and to that I would add the fact that the creativity of John, Paul and George took each of them in different directions.

Obvious issues that pushed them along to the breaking point were Yoko, Johns drug addictions, Paul being a control freak, George's Hindu obsession
