In a perfect world (according to me anyways), Ted should have stuck with the
Dukes formula. I knew him solo first, then explored backwards. Seems to me
that his best work was just after he rebranded himself as a solo artist. He
still hadn't turned into the kook that he ended up being, the music was top
drawer and the albums had a wide variety of styles.
Not saying that he shouldn't speak his mind. Problem is that his personality
took over the spotlight.
I'd agree that you can't go wrong with Migration. I'd lump in pretty much
any Amboy Dukes Album and continue on up until Live Gonzo as a great string
of albums.
There's good stuff afterwards, but I have to say it's a bit spotty at times.
