DIO DISCIPLES, the new project featuring former DIO members Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards) alongside bassist James Lomenzo (MEGADETH, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION) and singers Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, BEYOND FEAR, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH) and Toby Jepson (LITTLE ANGELS, GUN), will embark on a full U.S. tour in September. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

DIO DISCIPLES' European tour will kick off in early June.

German "metal queen" Doro Pesch will be filling in for Owens on the following DIO DISCIPLES tour dates:

June 29 - Milan, Italy @ Magazzini Generali
July 01 - Bilbao, Spain @ Rockstar Live
July 02 - Madrid, Spain @ Heineken
July 03 - Barcelona, Spain @ Bikini

Owens will be unable to make the Italian and Spanish shows as he will be attending his daughter's wedding.

Commented Ronnie James Dio's widow and manager Wendy: "There will never be another Ronnie, but we want to keep his music alive and hope you will support the band and become one of the DIO DISCIPLES."

Wright (AC/DC, DIO, UFO, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, RHINO BUCKET) played drums in DIO for 1990's "Lock Up The Wolves" album. He left the band in 1991 when Ronnie James Dio rejoined BLACK SABBATH. Wright returned to DIO in 1999 and remained the band's drummer until Ronnie's death. Vinny Appice was the DIO drummer from 1993 to 1999.

On guitar is longtime DIO member Craig Goldy (ROUGH CUTT, GIUFFRIA, DAVID LEE ROTH, DIO) who made his DIO debut on 1987's "Dream Evil" album.

On keyboards is 15-year DIO and HEAVEN & HELL veteran Scott Warren. Scott made his DIO debut on 1996's "Angry Machines" album.

On bass is the multi-talented James Lomenzo (MEGADETH, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, HAIL!, WHITE LION, DAVID LEE ROTH).

On vocals is Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN'S RISING FORCE, BEYOND FEAR, ICED EARTH, HAIL!, CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED).

Joining Owens on vocals from Manchester, U.K. is Toby Jepson (LITTLE ANGELS, FASTWAY, GUN, TOBY AND THE WHOLE TRUTH).

AEROSMITH will not perform on the season finale of "American Idol" — despite singer Steven Tyler's insistence to the contrary.

Tyler, who is one of the judges on the current season of "Idol", told Billboard.com that he will reunite with his bandmates May 25, the grand finale of this season's Fox TV singing contest.

"Oh, yeah, we're playing the last show of the season." Tyler said. "It was always my intention, always, to get AEROSMITH on the show. I mean, Joe's [Perry, guitar] done it. I'm ready for it. I would love to play with AEROSMITH."

However, in a series of postings on his Facebook page over the weekend, Perry made it clear that the four other members of AEROSMITH weren't interested in playing the gig, insisting that they would rather appear on "Idol" when the band has something to promote like an upcoming tour or a new album.

"[We're] not playing 'Idol' 'cause we were never asked by producers," Perry wrote. "Brad [Whitford, fellow AEROSMITH guitarist] has gig that night with [EXPERIENCE HENDRIX]. It's not logistically possible.

"AEROSMITH's looking forward to playing 'American Idol' next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare [for] a kick-ass show if they ask us.

"Really looking forward to recording with AEROSMITH this July [and] August to finish our long-awaited CD. Icing on cake, Jack Douglas is producing.

"The band [definitely] wants to tour after the new CD. We want to rock out in the U.S. and for our Blue Army behind some new songs.

"There is no peace pipe to smoke because I have no problem with anything Steven is doing. It's all media driven. In case ya didn't get that."

Douglas — who has also worked with THE WHO and John Lennon — produced a number of classic AEROSMITH albums in the Seventies, including "Toys In The Attic" and "Rocks". He also worked on 2004's "Honkin' On Bobo" covers set.
Legendary KISS guitarist and rock and roll icon Ace Frehley will appear at the Days Of The Dead horror convention, set to take place July 1-3 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Days Of The Dead 2011 will feature a full weekend's worth of events, film screenings, vendors, and other special guests, including Gary Busey, Edward Furlong, Zoe Bell, Heather Langenkamp, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, PJ Soles and more.

For more information, visit www.DaysoftheDead.net.

Frehley will perform his 1978 solo album in its entirety during his appearance at the Hard Rock Hell V festival, set to take place December 2-4, 2011 at Pontins in Prestatyn, North Wales. Frehley will headline the event on Saturday, December 3.

Ace's current solo touring band includes Scot Coogan (drums, vocals), Anthony Esposito (bass, vocals) and new guitarist Todd Youth.

Frehley's latest solo album, "Anomaly", sold around 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 27 on The Billboard 200 chart.

In addition to the standard CD release, unique "Anomaly" packages were made available at Wal-Mart and Best Buy locations. The Wal-Mart version includes an Ace autographed tattoo while the Best Buy edition is printed on silver stock, like the KISS "Double Platinum" album.

Released in September 2009 via Ace's own Bronx Born Records, with Rocket Science providing a full label service platform in the U.S., "Anomaly" was produced and recorded in Westchester County, New York between 2007 and 2009 and was mixed in Los Angeles.
GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba told Nui Te Koha of Australia's long-running rock station Triple M that the band's frontman, Axl Rose, has three albums' worth of new material written, most of which will never see the light of day.

"Axl has a lot of great songs up his sleeve," Ashba said. "He probably has three albums worth of stuff recorded.

"The stuff I've heard… I've been up in his hotel room many nights and he just sits down at the piano and plays. I'm like, 'This is amazing. People have to hear this song.' And he's like, 'Ah, this is something I'm tinkering on.'

"He's just a genius when it comes down to music and I just cannot wait to sit down with an acoustic guitar and just write. He's just got this gift that's very, very rare."

In addition to Ashba and sole original member Axl Rose (vocals), the current lineup of GUNS N' ROSES includes guitarists Ron Thal and Richard Fortus, bassist Tommy Stinson, keyboardists Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman and drummer Frank Ferrer.

Ashba joined GUNS N' ROSES in March 2009 following the departure of Robin Finck.

As previously reported, "Chinese Democracy", the 2008 album released by the current edition of GUNS N' ROSES after a 15-year wait, can now be purchased at BestBuy.com for $1.99.

Best Buy was the exclusive U.S. retailer for "Chinese Democracy", reportedly paying $14 million for 1.6 million copies. But the album was a major sales disappointment, moving less than 620,000 copies despite the curiosity and hype surrounding its release.
ANTHRAX's previously announced Japanese tour with HELLYEAH, which was slated to kick off on May 5 in Tokyo, has been rescheduled for December. The new dates are as follows:

Dec. 12 - Big Cat - Osaka, Japan
Dec. 13 - O-East - Tokyo, Japan
Dec. 14 - O-East - Tokyo, Japan
Dec. 16 - Diamond Hall-Nagoya - Naka-ku, Japan

SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser will play 11 shows with ANTHRAX in July as a temporary replacement for Scott Ian, whose wife, Pearl Aday, is expecting the couple's first baby.

ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante spoke to SoundSpike late last month about the status of the recording sessions for the band's long-awaited new studio album, "Worship Music", tentatively due in September via Megaforce Records in the U.S. and Nuclear Blast Records in Europe.

"This is years in the making," Benante said of the forthcoming CD. "It's finally at the end stages of it all. I'm very happy. This record is like a labor of love in all the different ways that it took to get here — a lot of blood, a lot of sweat, a lot of tears. It's very emotional to get to this point. Nothing's fabricated here. It's all based on truth."

He continued, "The ANTHRAX car was driving through peaks and valleys, peaks and valleys, peaks and valleys. Sometimes we just couldn't get out of the valleys. Finally, we went in for a tune-up, and now it's running really well. We're trying to stay up in the peaks. There were so many things that went into this record that made it special. There were so many other things going into it that were not special. We needed to make this record as special as possible. Certain personalities interfered. This record is probably the most emotional record that we've ever had to make."

"Worship Music" will mark the first new ANTHRAX recording to feature singer Joey Belladonna in 20 years.

"I don't want to talk to you and give you all these clichés," Benante said. "I don't want to do that. I want to be as real as possible. Joey sounds awesome and that's the truth. When he sang on the first song, it sounded like ANTHRAX again. I finally knew this is the way it should sound."

Benante added that the album will feature a tribute to JUDAS PRIEST, tentatively titled "Judas Priest".

"Let's say that JUDAS PRIEST was one of the first true heavy metal bands that a lot of the Big Four bands looked up to and almost modeled themselves and their music [after]," he said. "You can hear how JUDAS PRIEST influenced a lot of those bands."

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED — the project led by acclaimed metal drummer Richard Christy (ICED EARTH, DEATH, LEASH LAW, CONTROL DENIED, BURNING INSIDE) — is scheduled to begin mixing its sophomore CD in June for a tentative October 11 release via Metal Blade Records. Christy states, "The album is crushing and I'm so proud of it; I cannot wait for people to hear it!"

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's follow-up to the band's 2010 self-titled debut was recorded in part at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, Florida with producer Mark Lewis (ALL THAT REMAINS, DEVILDRIVER, TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA).

Christy previously stated about the new CHARRED material, "If you liked the first album, you're definitely going to love this album! It's going to be super-melodic, have plenty of blast beats, plenty of super-catchy vocal parts, heavy guitars, and insane bass parts!"

Fans got a chance to watch Christy and vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH) perform the songs from CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's debut album during a July 2010 tour that included stops in Chicago, Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Cleveland and Pittsburgh before wrapping up in Worcester, Massachusetts as part of a massive show with DREAM THEATER.

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's touring lineup made its live debut on July 1 in Chicago, Illinois. Stepping in for the concerts were Cleveland guitarists John Comprix and Matt Sorg. Comprix is Owens' bandmate in several projects, and Sorg plays with Comprix in RINGWORM.

The self-titled debut album from CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED sold around 2,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at No. 6 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

The recording sessions for the first CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED CD took place at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Jason Suecof, who has previously worked with TRIVIUM, ALL THAT REMAINS, BURY YOUR DEAD, AUGUST BURNS RED, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, DAATH, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER and GOD FORBID, among others.

CHARRED WALLS OF THE DAMNED's recording lineup:

* Richard Christy - Drums
* Jason Suecof - Guitar, Producer
* Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, ICED EARTH) - Vocals

The hard rock gods rejoiced when it was announced that Poison and Mötley Crüe would be heading out on their first co-headlining tour together this summer. Even though we're still weeks away from the first show, the tour has already had more than its share of drama.

In an recent interview with The Arizona Republic, Poison's Bret Michaels claimed that Nikki Sixx apologized to him for some negative comments his Mötley Crüe bandmates made about Poison. A few days later, Sixx posted on his personal Twitter page with his version of the story.

Sixx wrote: "Just to clarify, Bret Michaels recently said I apologized to him about derogatory comments that Motley made about Poison in the past and that isn't what i said. What I did say was 'I personally never had anything against you guys as a people but Motley just sorta though you sucked as band but let's give the fans what they want and go out and have a good time.'"

During an exclusive interview with Michaels yesterday, Noisecreep asked the rocker if he felt comfortable commenting on the recent Sixx mudslinging.

"No, I love it and I hope you can help me put this to rest," Michaels said. "I'm going to be very blunt and honest. When my career started, Nikki and I hung out and I remember telling him there were some Crüe songs that I absolutely liked – I took a positive approach to things. You can look back at old photos me and Nikki with our Harley's. We used to ride together because we had a house down the street from each other. At the time, both of our careers had just started and our records had hit. We would go out and party together, I would even join the Crüe on stage and sing. Everything was great.

"Now at one point – I think it was in the mid-'90s – Poison and Bon Jovi were playing the arenas. Our 'Native Tongue' album [1993] had sold a million copies and Bon Jovi's album, 'Keep the Faith' [1992], was at about 1.5 million or something and at one point in the middle there, Mötley Crüe changed singers all this stuff."

Michaels is referring to John Corabi, the former The Scream vocalist who replaced Vince Neil in Mötley Crüe on their 1994 self-titled album. The Bob Rock- produced effort eventually went gold, but was generally viewed as a commercial disappointment compared to their earlier releases.

"That's around the period when Nikki decided to brand his band differently," Michaels continued. "What confused me about that time period was when Nikki said that Vince and I were kind of ridiculous. Now these are his words, 'You and Vince are kind of the same -- you don't really pick and choose your fans, you just kind of go out and play music.' Well, I thought that's what music was about. I didn't know I was supposed to decide which fan can like or not like my music.

"I did Nikki's radio show about two months ago and it was an absolutely great day. We talked about the tour and everything was cool. Now on the show he says to me, 'Bret man, what's going on? Let's take a picture together,' and so on. We also did all of this television press for the tour in Los Angeles together and everything was great.

"He even apologized to me and said, 'I sort of said a lot of bad crap about you guys, but you're actually a relevant band,' and he went in and said some other good stuff about a month ago. I got a text from Nikki two weeks ago saying, 'Hey bro, excited to see you on the road!' But then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I hear about him talking trash about us again. I can't keep up [laughts]!"

Noisecreep asks Michaels if the back-and-forth has gotten to him.

"The funny thing is that I don't harbor any bad feelings towards Nikki. That's why I get confused when all this negative stuff comes up. Now I'm the kind of guy that doesn't get off the phone and become a different person. So it was confusing to hear that he was saying bad things about Poison in the press or whatever."

When Noisecreep mentions that pulling off a Poison and Mötley Crüe tour sounds like a nightmare in terms of the egos that might be involved, Michaels immediately interjects.

"There's no ego on my part – I want this to happen," he said. "I want to be very upfront with you, Mötley will be closing all of the shows and that's fine with me. I'm just excited that we're doing this. I remember having a great phone conversation where I said, 'Nikki, if you don't want to do the tour, then don't do it. I just think the fans would love it.' There was no bad intention on my part. Look, Poison and Mötley don't have to love each other. All we have to do is go out on the road and put on a great show and be professional.

"This is the biggest amount of tickets and sales [Mötley Crüe have] had in three years. Fans are buying seats in a – let's be honest – s---ty economy, so the public has spoken. I'm not sure what Nikki's been ranting and raving about lately, but like I said, these are the best ticket sales they've had in a long time. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary and we're celebrating our 25th – let's go out and have a party."

The Pulse Of Radio reports that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland's newly published memoir, "Not Dead And Not For Sale", features a number of vivid and even shocking revelations from the 43-year-old vocalist. According to Spin, Weiland reveals in one passage that he was raped when he was 12 years old. He writes that the rapist was a 'big muscular guy, a high school senior . . . (who) rode the bus with me every day to school . . . invited me to his house. The dude raped me. It was quick, not pleasant. I was too scared to tell anyone. 'Tell anyone,' he warned, 'and you'll never have another friend in this school. I'll ruin your fuckin' reputation.' Weiland adds, "This is a memory I suppressed until only a few years ago when, in rehab, it came flooding back. Therapy will do that to you."

Weiland also remembers doing heroin with Courtney Love at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles: "She was with Amanda de Cadenet, the photographer/socialite. As fate would have it, their room was next to mine. That night Courtney and I got high as she and Amanda dressed for dinner at the home of Jack Nicholson. For a while, Ms. Love inserted herself into my ever-more-erratic story. We were never lovers but were rather close at the start."

The singer also recalls the first time he ever did heroin, which was before a show in New York City while STP was touring behind its debut album "Core": "The opiate took me to where I'd always dreamed of going. I can't name the place, but I can say that I was undisturbed and unafraid, a free-floating man in a space without demons and doubts."

Weiland also writes about falling off the wagon and doing drugs during VELVET REVOLVER's 2007 tour, and what happened when he confessed to his bandmates: "When I told the guys that we'd have to miss a couple of gigs because I needed treatment, their reaction shocked me. They told me I'd have to pay them for those cancellations — in full. I reminded them that when they had relapsed and needed rehab, I had supported them completely. It made no difference to them."

Weiland's book came out this past Tuesday (May 17). The singer is reportedly working on both a new solo album and a new STONE TEMPLE PILOTS record.
DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken has issued the following update.

"Thanks to all of you that can see through the smoke and mirrors. Yes, Jon [Levin, current DOKKEN axeman] is an amazing guitarist and a great human being as well.

"There was a lot of talk about a DOKKEN reunion — I tried my best to make it happen for the fans with Jon's blessing — but the bottom line was Jeff [Pilson, former DOKKEN bassist] said he's busy with FOREIGNER for the next few years, so that was that.

"When I agreed to [appear on VH1 Classic's] 'The Metal Show' [with former DOKKEN guitarist George Lynch], we were going to announce a reunion but at the last minute Jeff asked me not to talk about it because he had not mentioned it to Mick Jones [FOREIGNER] yet. I totally understood, [I] just wish he would have said something before I agreed to do the show with George. His comments on the show spoke for themselves.

"After all these years, I have tired of defending myself.

"The band is 'rokken' and we get along great, which is paramount to me at this time in my life.

"George will always have his fans, which he earned, but I will always give credit to the amazing guitarists that have come after him.

"Reb Beach gave the band DOKKEN a great contribution on 'Erase The Slate' — it speaks volumes as to his talent. John Norum, as well, on 'Long Way Home'.

"'Dysfunctional' is still one of my favorites and even though George is credited as the guitarist, he did not write any of the songs. That body of work was written by Jeff, Mick [Brown, drums], and myself. George came in after it was finished and did the solos.

"I'm writing this so the truth is out there.

"'Dysfunctional' sold over 400,000 copies in '95, which was amazing since grunge was at its height at the time and bands like us were considered old news! 15 years later we're still here and going strong and it's because of you, the fans, [and] our music that allows us to keep touring.

"This year it will be 30 years since I recorded 'Breakin' The Chains'; wow, time flies!

"Anyway, we are beginning to write yet another record and I think it's going to be very cool.

"Again thanks to all that support us and for those of you that need to whine, get a life!"
Two members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES — Peter Iwers (bass) and Björn Gelotte (guitar) — are partners in a new restaurant in their hometown of Gothenburg with a focus on "quality and service." Named 2112 as a tribute to RUSH's "2112" album, the establishment had its grand opening on April 21.

"We decided to open a place that was part restaurant with fine dining and part pub with a great selection and a good bar menu," Iwers and Gelotte told GAFFA. "Both of us love to go out and drink and eat and that is exactly what you can do here. You can start in the restaurant and continue in the pub, or vice versa."

2112 is located at Magasingatan 5 in Gothenburg.

Maryland rockers CLUTCH will take part in their first-ever acoustic in-store performance on Saturday, May 28 at Earshot Music & Movies in Greenville, South Carolina. The band's set will primarily of selections from its "Basket Of Eggs" project from the "Blast Tyrant" deluxe reissue. The charitable food pantry "Loaves And Fishes" will also be on site that afternoon collecting canned food and non-perishables for the region's recent weather-related victims. Earshot and Weathermaker Music will set up a large "food basket" inside the retailer and those who donate a canned or non-perishable food item will receive a free CLUTCH tour poster and be first in line to have it autographed by the band after their acoustic performance.

The "Blast Tyrant" deluxe reissue sold 2,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release, landing at position No. 26 on Top Hard Music Albums chart, more than seven years after the original version debuted at No. 15. The double-disc package, which features the "Basket of Eggs" bonus CD, triumphed in the Northeast, where it broke into the Top 10 at the mammoth Newbury Comics chain, and was the No. 1-selling double disc.

CLUTCH will kick off a nine-date headlining tour on May 20 in Reading, Pennsylvania. The trek will feature MAYLENE & THE SONS OF DISASTER as main support. CLUTCH will keep the average ticket price for these shows to a fan-friendly $17.50. CLUTCH has also confirmed a headlining run for this July, with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY serving as direct support. The tour will kick off with two special shows (July 20-21) in the New York area.
Sweden's THE QUILL will release its new album, "Full Circle", on June 24 in Europe and July 26 in North America via Metalville Records. According to a press release, the CD "is packed with heavy rock firmly rooted in the Seventies but vibrant and updated rather than retro. Yes, there's a new twist to the sound. Less is more, if you will. The songs are sharp, direct and catchy, built around big riffs, big grooves and big hooks. Just check out 'Sleeping With Your Enemy' and try to get that chorus out of your head. Surrender to the up-tempo outburst of energy that is 'Medicine'. And physically feel how 'Bring It On' simply rocks like a motherfucker. Very much classic rock and yet contemporary in the FOO FIGHTERS / QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE vein. Needless to say, THE QUILL is a band reborn."

"Full Circle" was mixed by songwriter/producer/artist Chris Laney (real name: Ulf Larsson).

An audio teaser for "Full Circle" available for streaming using the ReverbNation TuneWidget below (click on "Songs" tab).

With the touring cycle for THE QUILL's fifth album, "In Triumph", completed, the band and singer Magnus Ekwall parted ways and THE QUILL was put on the backburner. Drummer Jolle Atlagic joined now-defunct Finnish glam legends HANOI ROCKS — touring Europe and Japan in the process — and also did a stint in THE REAL MCCOY band alongside FOO FIGHTERS guitarist Chris Shiflett. Christian Carlsson (guitar) and Robert Triches (bass) also kept busy with other projects. In early 2010, it was THE QUILL time again. Songs were written and Magz Arnar filled the vacant vocalist spot. It was a perfect match. The versatile singer has heaps of energy and a powerful voice that fits THE QUILL like a glove. Magz has the required range to sing the old stuff but also a rawness that the band was looking for.

THE QUILL 2011 is:

Magnus Arnar (vocals)
Christian Carlsson (guitar)
Jolle Atlagic (drums)
Robert Triches (bass)

"In Triumph" was released in April 2006 via SPV/Steamhammer. The CD was recorded at Area 51 studios in Celle, Germany with producer Tommy Newton (VICTORY, UFO, HELLOWEEN).

Reformed '80s Los Angeles rockers HURRICANE will play their first show on Saturday, July 2 at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California with ALCATRAZZ.

HURRICANE is a powerful hard rock band from Los Angeles that formed in 1984 by guitarist Robert Sarzo, and bassist Tony Cavazo. Cavazo, former QUIET RIOT and SNOW bassist, was introduced to Sarzo by the late QUIET RIOT frontman Kevin DuBrow in the early '80s. DuBrow suggested they put a band together and they did just that. Cavazo and Sarzo being the siblings of the classic QUIET RIOT lineup guitarist and bassist Carlos Cavazo and Rudy Sarzo, decided to create a monster. They recruited singer Kelly Hansen (now in FOREIGNER) and drummer Jay Schellen and hit the ground running.

HURRICANE gained worldwide acclaim with the release of its first album, "Take What You Want". The LP and constant touring led to the band getting a major label deal with Enigma Records and the release of their chart-topping follow-up effort, "Over The Edge". "Over The Edge" was HURRICANE's most successful album. Propelled by a powerful-yet-melodic hard rock sound, the album charted in the top 100. It featured a cover of ALICE COOPER's "I'm 18" as well as the band's most successful Top 40 hit, "I'm On To You", in 1988. The title track, "Over The Edge", was also released as a single.

HURRICANE toured the world with CHEAP TRICK, IRON MAIDEN, STRYPER and the MICHAEL SHENKER GROUP and released its third album, "Slave To The Thrill", in 1990.

HURRICANE disbanded in the early '90s and are now reborn. Cavazo and Sarzo have reunited with new but equally potent members, vocalist and guitarist Andrew Freeman and drummer Mike Hansen.

Andrew Freeman has done double duty as a singer and guitarist for several notable bands, namely THE OFFSPRING, LYNCH MOB, BULLETBOYS and THIRTY STONES, and has worked with famed producers Bob Rock, Simon Philips and Zeuss.

Mike Hansen has toured and recorded with George Lynch of DOKKEN/LYNCH MOB fame, Paula Abdul, THE POINTER SISTERS, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather (TOTO), George Clinton of PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC. He has worked with famed classic rock producers Bob Ezrin (KISS), Eddie Kramer (THE BEATLES), Simon Phillips, and Andy Johns.

HURRICANE 2011 is:

Robert Sarzo - Guitar
Tony Cavazo - Bass
Andrew Freeman - Vocals
Mike Hansen – Drums
Guitarist Shaun Cothron (pictured below) has joined the reactivated ACHERON.

Both Cothron and fellow ACHERON axeman Max Otworth (who played on the last ACHERON album, "The Final Conflict: Last Days Of God") are also involved with the band HEAVY LIES THE CROWN, which released an EP called "Gears Of Inhumanity" in 2010.

ACHERON has several shows booked, including a co-headlining appearance at the Central Illinois Metalfest, set to take place July 22-24 at the Canopy Club in Urbana, Illinois.

In May 2010, ACHERON founder/bassist/vocalist Vincent Crowley announced that the band was calling it quits and that it would not be doing any more shows or making any more albums. It was a surprise to both fans and bandmembers alike, considering ACHERON had just released a well-received CD called "The Final Conflict: Last Days Of God", filmed its first official music video for "I Am Heathen" and was on the verge of taking part in a slew of other projects, including another studio recording, a DVD release and a variety of shows and festival dates.

So what happened to cause the band's breakup? It seems that a lot of things went down before "the shit finally hit the fan," according to a posting on ACHERON's MySpace page. Crowley stated, "There is too much involving the whole reason for the band's demise. All I can say is that there were a lot of misunderstandings, including a lack of communication and some actions that were done. The end result of it all pretty much killed my will to continue the band."

After a year, the smoke has cleared and the negative things between the bandmembers have been worked out. Crowley, Kyle Severn (drums) and Max Otworth (guitar) have decided to re-open Hell's Gate and invoke the music beast ACHERON once again. Crowley commented: "I really didn't think I would do ACHERON again. Before the band broke up I was working with a talented bunch of new musicians, but the vibe just wasn't there. I couldn't play without having that vibe. Now that almost everyone from the last studio lineup has agreed to work together again, I am totally on board and open to any ideas regarding this musical entity!"

Added Severn: "I am happy as hell that we were able to put aside the unfortunate B.S. band politics/drama that sometimes can arise; hell, even worse when you're not even sure why it even happens. Especially when Vince and I, who have been jamming together for 10 years and have been friends even longer, are able to continue to go forward. It is a great metal pleasure to announce that we are going to be able to play for the ACHERON friends and fans and to continue working forward on the next piece of pure aggression that we call ACHERON. Yes, we will be moving at our own pace, but the important issue is that we will be moving forward. Late last year we were working on new material and can't wait to bust out the rehearsal tapes and start reviewing our next installment of Blasphemy and Apocalypse."

So what is the next chapter of the band? Are they doing a new album? Will there be any touring or festivals booked? Crowley said: "We are taking things one step at a time. We are not rushing into anything or getting pressured into doing things until we all agree they are worth doing. What I can say is that we have agreed to re-open Pandora's Box. Hopefully all the vile diabolical things that spew forth from it with be worthy of the actions of ACHERON."
Tommy Vitaly, the guitar player for the Italian power metal band SEVENGATES, is currently working on his second album, "Hanging Rock". The CD will feature guest appearances by the following musicians:

* Michele Luppi (THAUROROD, ex-VISION DIVINE) - Vocals

INCITE, the Phoenix, Arizona-based metal band fronted by Richie Cavalera — the stepson of SOULFLY/CAVALERA CONSPIRACY mainman Max Cavalera — will enter the studio in July to begin recording its sophomore album. The group states, "[The] writing is just about finished and it's coming out sicker than ever. [It] looks like we are going to work with [producer] Rhys Fulber (FEAR FACTORY, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, PARADISE LOST)."

INCITE released its debut album, "The Slaughter", in North America on October 20, 2009 and in Europe on November 2, 2009 via I Scream Records. The CD was produced by Logan Mader, who has previously worked with GOJIRA, DIVINE HERESY and CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

INCITE's current lineup is as follows:

Richie Cavalera - Vocals
Zak Sofaly - Drums
Kevin "Dis" - Guitar
Luis "Marrufo" - Bass

Richie Cavalera makes a guest appearance on CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's debut album, "Inflikted", which was released in March 2008 via Roadrunner Records.

You can now listen to it using the SoundCloud player below.

Extreme metal supergroup LOCK UP will release its new album, "Necropolis Transparent", on July 1 in Europe and July 12 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded in November-December 2010 at HVR Studios in Ipswich, United Kingdom and was mixed in January.

"Necropolis Transparent" will feature guest appearances by HYPOCRISY/PAIN mainman (and one-time LOCK UP vocalist) Peter Tägtgren along with Jeff Walker (CARCASS, BRUJERIA).

Commented LOCK UP bassist Shane Embury: "I always wanted Peter on the third album since he was on the first record LOCK UP we did. It made sense from a weird trilogy aspect to get him on the record. His tones complement [current LOCK UP vocalist] Tomas [Lindberg; also of AT THE GATES] perfectly as well.

"I would have loved to have had Peter sing on more of the songs, but time was short as Peter was heavily involved with his new PAIN record. The songs he did sing on though made them extra special.

"As for Jeff, well me and Jeff go so far back it's unreal. We were mixing the album at Andy Sneap's and I wanted an extra vocal texture on a few tracks to spice it up. My voice is more hardcore and I wanted some extra gravel on things. It all seemed to make sense to Jeff once I had bribed him with a 12 pack of his favorite beer (laughs)!"

"It's great that LOCK UP is back in the saddle again and that I could be a part of it," commented Peter Tägtgren. "This album will tear you a new asshole!"

Jeff Walker added: "I think it's pretty fair to say that the current incarnation of LOCK UP have done the late Jesse Pintado more than proud!"

According to a press release, "the songwriting and production on ['Necropolis Transparent'] surpasses everything the band has done so far. The speed, riffing and intensity make this record more than just a grindcore album and see LOCK UP come into their own true identity."

"Necropolis Transparent" track listing:

01. Brethren Of The Pentagram
02. Accelerated Mutation
03. The Embodiment Of Paradox And Chaos
04. Necropolis Transparent
05. Parasite Drama
06. Anvil Of Flesh

It's been three months since the lead singer of one of New Zealand's longest-running death metal bands, BACKYARD BURIAL, was murdered in a ferocious and personal attack in his home and police are still confident they will find the killer and bring them before the court.

35-year-old Matthew Hall died while in his bed in Broderick Road, Johnsonville and his body was discovered around 6:15 p.m. on February 15.

Officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton, says there is still a large team working on this active investigation and police remain as busy and as determined as they were on day one.

"This murder was a very personal attack on Mr. Hall," he said. "Having completed the scene examination and having received some preliminary ESR results, we now know that the offender had knowledge of the address at 118 Broderick Road."

He adds, "A vast amount of investigative work has taken place over the past three months and there are still witnesses being identified. We have also re-interviewed a number of witnesses. The information from witnesses gives the investigation a strong focus, as does the completed scene examination at 118 Broderick Road.

"There is one missing piece from the scene that remains a mystery to police, which is a knife outstanding from 118 Broderick Road that has not been accounted for. Witnesses have described a large hunting knife that was kept in the house. This has not been found during the extensive scene examination of the address.

"I believe amongst Matthew's friends and associates that there is information that they hold which could lead to identifying the offender for this murder. I urge them to contact us with any information they may have."

BACKYARD BURIAL released its debut album, titled "Symptoms Of Psychopathology", in 1999.
