[african_music] African Views Student Chapter

0
Dear friends and colleagues:

Today, April 21st, 2011 African Views will be launching its Student Chapter program that incorporates the values and mindset of improving global education about African consciousness, psychology and integrity, with the focus and service geared toward research, reporting, and collaborative networking in the community in which the students currently reside.

We hope to advance education standard in developing countries by inviting them to join us in building a collaborative network with equal access to relevant and useful information. The chapters will also assist curriculum reform in related Africanistic Studies here in the developed world. We are determined with three essential core components as our focus: integrity, accountability, and transparency.

We are incredibly lucky to have scholars such as Nicole Johnson and Ben Dempe of Allegheny College, Alex Maxwell of Edinburgh University in Scotland, and Kasandra Housley from Indiana University who have all worked extensively as a team in helping to put together a standard AV student chapter manual. The manual will serve as a helpful guide for all students who are interested in helping to form an AV student chapter in their schools.

Our first chapter will start at Allegheny University in Pennsylvania, and in Edinburgh University in Scotland with Nicole Johnson spear heading the American hemisphere and Alex Maxwell taking charge of Western Europe. Note that we also have Chisom Nwakpodolu prepared to mobilize students from Romania throughout Eastern Europe and Kwanisai Mafa having a complete overview in Southern Africa.

The hope is that AV Student chapters will spread to other campuses as African Views continues to become more relevant and grow globally. The university chapters will work to improve our local communities' education as the AV parent organization works to bring change on a global scale. Detail information about the AV student chapter and application process will be available on the AV website later today. If you visit our website, you will see that our work already speaks volume. The fact of the matter is that our work is just about to begin. And it all in the hands of the youth and scholars like you.

If you are interested in being a part of this process either as a volunteer or campus leader please contact us at av@africanviews.org
Thank you!
