African Jazz Heartbeat is a new monthly column at www.intuition-online.co.uk This month's column, "An introduction to African jazz" has reviews of recent releases featuring Hugh Masekela, Tabu Ley Rochereau, Lágbájá, Kippie Moeketsi, and Moses Taiwa Molelekwa plus DVD's: Fela Kuti's previously unreleased "Live in Berlin, " Koffi Olomide's "Chante Tabu Ley" and exceptional live recordings by Bana OK (formerly Franco's T.P. OK Jazz) and South Africa's greatest jazz guitarist Philip Tabane.
Intuition will also feature gig reviews,kicking off with a forthcoming date at London's prestigious Royal Festival Hall featuring the late Fela Kuti's legendary big band Egypt 80 now fronted by Fela's young son Seun.
