There were so many know and lesser know that should be given credit.

Of the bunch from the 50's you might agree berry was perhaps the most reconizable to the masses.

I dont know if I buy hendrix stole from beck. Beck was one of the most influential guitarist of the 60's only behind hendrix. Beck was only with the yardbids for 18 months. weather music was stolen or not hendrix displayed such skill in his play that I am not sure I have seen anyone make it look so easy. Just a side note yardbirds were great.

You are correct black sabbath formed in 69. I love you really got me but that is rock not metal. At least to me.
