If you a really really REALLY big fan of Grateful Dead (and have $450 to spare) you can soon be the owner of a steamer trunk full (literally) of recordings from the band's 1972 tour of Europe. That's 22 complete shows, on more than 60 CDs - more than 70 hours of Dead music, packaged in a replica of a steamer trunk. You have time to save up. Europe '72: The Complete Recordings will be available in September.

Watch This Rock
Freddie Mercury 1975Work on a movie about the late Freddie Mercury is "fully underway" according to Queen guitarist Brian May. Sacha Baron Cohen is set to star as Queen's original lead vocalist, who died in 1991. Tentative release date is Fall 2012.

Two Billy Joel shows - the last concerts ever staged at New York City's Shea Stadium, in 2008 - will be seen soon in a full length concert film, Billy Joel: Live at Shea Stadium. It will be available as a CD/DVD set, a standalone DVD, Blu-ray and on PBS's Great Performances series in March.

Tour Notes
Graham Nash, David CrosbyCSNY bandmates Graham Nash and David Crosby embark in late March on one of their semi-regular tours together. Among the members of their tour band will be keyboardist James Raymond, who is Crosby's son.

Jackson Browne has added 16 Canadian dates to his current acoustic tour. Browne will be north of the border from late March through late April.

Jack Bruce (ex-Cream bassist-vocalist) will spend March on a U.K. tour. Jack Bruce and The Blues Experience have 15 shows booked so far.

In Memoriam
Don Kirshner's Rock Concert was a weekly late night TV hit in the '70s, featuring live performances by established and soon-to-be stars. Kirshner, who mentored and/or managed songwriters and bands, was well known for matching songs to artists with great success. He died (1/17) of heart failure at the age of 76.
