It's a damn good record. I had a sketchy copy of it for quite a while and when it died on me I replaced it with the real thing. Torn Curtain is definitely the showstopper but the whole thing is great. I vividly recall not loving it first time out as well.

when i first moved to atlanta about 25 years ago, i hooked up with this weird band and they wanted to COVER two songs off Marquee Moon. I'll never forget driving myself half insane trying to learn those fucking songs, all those crazy weird as hell guitar parts, and then being hugely pissed off when the other guys didnt even bother to try, and then said "lets do something else".
Needless to say, that party broke up.

I can see that. Sometimes its much better to not 'get' an album on the first
listen. A lot of my favourite albums took a while to warm up to. I like the
idea of the topic, 'albums that took the longest to appreciate' or something
like that.
The Marquee Moon could be an album like that. The 2 songs that I mentioned
are not just good, they have something going on there. That can mean that
its worth while to give the rest of the record a harder look.
