Collaborative work often brings out the best in both contributors, and in the case of "Circo Divino" by Alio Die and Parallel Worlds it's most definitely what has happened. Bakis Siros of Parallel Worlds and Stefano Musso of Alio Die have created a wonderful disc where tones drift and flow through precisely sculpted soundscapes, an engaging and inspiring album that will appeal to fans of both artists.

"Lost Fractales" begins the disc with a shimmering cascade of bells and subtle voices. As the track progresses electronic percussion and guitar are added to the mix bringing an otherworldly element to the track, a sort of alien beauty that while strangely familiar remains strangely distant from anything we already know. Sounds ripple and roll through the soundscape, always on the edges of familiarity, but far enough away to seem unique and distinct. A hauntingly beautiful track.

"Circo Divino" has a more electronic sound to it, with drifting synth burblings and pads paired with steamy high hats and cymbals creating a dark carnival of sounds. To say that it's a dense soundscape would be misleading, but it's certainly a very full one, a collection of sounds to wade through and examine at the listener's leisure, some right on the surface, others a little more tricky to discover, but each one well worth being examined.

"Nuvole di Pallisandro" has a very subtle beginning, with tiny electronic pulses and a steadily percolating synth. Burbling sounds, a little percussion, some subtle pads. It builds up very nicely, growing in volume and increasing in intensity. Nice.

"Sorinel" starts with a pulsing musical phrase, thick pads rising up from the deepest drifts of sound. There's a really strong sense of atmosphere here, a feeling that you're immersed in a thick and deep sound that swallows up all other sensations. Voices fade in and out over a drifting melody, arpeggios repeat, sounds ebb and flow, it's all very beautiful.

"Electrostatic Forest" has a twinkling, star-light quality to it, delicate sounds that fill the night sky, washing over the listener. It's a really nice piece, something very soothing and relaxing that I find very appealing, a spiraling form that's easy to get lost in.

"Slide of Grace" closes the disc, a quiet track that builds from humble beginnings, with a percolating synth percussion line setting a beat while pads shift and wail through the soundscape. There's a lovely sense of motion here, some wonderful work that really inspires. Very nicely done.

As they have on their own previous releases, Siros' and Musso have created a rich and exciting aural landscape on "Circo Divino", a collection of music that perfectly combines the two artists' talents. A beautiful and seemless blend of styles, "Circo Divino" is a wonderful release that bears further listening and further exploration, not only by fans of either artist, but also by fans of the genre.
