On November 16, Eagle Rock will unveil HEAVEN & HELL "Neon Nights". This DVD and CD release captures the historic four-man army performing at the Wacken Open Air festival on July 30, 2009. [MSRP $14.98 for DVD, $13.98 for CD, Pre-book Order Date: October 22]

On this hot summer night, vocalist Ronnie James Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Vinny Appice commanded the stage, transcending the mere concept of a heavy metal concert. The strength and veracity of Dio's delivery, which has inspired three generations of metal vocalists, wrapped itself around each and every audience member. Butler's declarative bass lines, Iommi's legendary riffing, and Appice's unrelenting fills provide the forceful heartbeat behind anthems "Mob Rules", "Die Young", "Neon Knights", and namesake tune "Heaven And Hell".

The DVD also boasts 30th anniversary interviews with all four band members as a bonus feature. Personal one-on-ones are conducted with Ronnie, Tony, Geezer, and Vinny as they reflect on the making of their "Heaven And Hell" album. Additionally, the "Neon Nights" DVD has newly recorded personal tributes from Iommi, Appice, and Butler in memory of Dio.

Former DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord has told U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine that he can't ever see a reunion of PURPLE's Mk. III lineup — featuring Lord, bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes, vocalist David Coverdale, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and drummer Ian Paice.

"I think it's a dream too far," Lord said. "I know a lot of people would like it to happen, but it would have to have Ian Paice involved, and right now he's committed to the current PURPLE lineup. And I know they are planning a new studio album, as well as more touring."

He added, "I got an email from David recently, and it seems Glenn and Ritchie might be into it, although I don't know how Glenn feels now, with BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION happening.

"Yes, I would love to play with Ritchie again, but don't read anything into that as far as Mk. III is concerned.

"I must admit I'd also have a concern or two about David's voice."

Coverdale and Hughes joined DEEP PURPLE in 1973 to create the band's Mk. III lineup, though co-founding member and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left in 1975, to be replaced by Tommy Bolin.

According to Billboard.com, AC/DC is among the top artists, tours, venues, and live entertainment firms recognized as finalists for the 2010 Billboard Touring Awards, which will be handed out at a special reception in New York on November 4. The awards are primarily based on global box office numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore from October 1, 2009, through September 30, 2010.

The Top Boxscore award recognizes the highest-grossing single engagement for the time period. Two of the Boxscore finalists are from AC/DC: a three-night, sold-out stand at ANZ Stadium in Sydney and three more sellouts at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne; both were in February. The third finalist for Top Boxscore is the Download festival in the U.K.

This Halloween you'll howl with laughter and scream with delight as WGN America presents "The Monstrous Munster Mash", 18 back-to-back episodes of "The Munsters", television's First Family of Fright. Hosted by legendary shock rocker Alice Cooper, the nine-hour marathon featuring the odd occupants of 1313 Mockingbird Lane will air Sunday, October 31 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET (7 a.m. - 4 p.m. PT).

The iconic Alice Cooper, who was named the world's most "beloved heavy metal entertainer" by Rolling Stone, will be hosting opens and interstitials for "The Monstrous Munster Mash".

Former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno will perform the band's classic self-titled debut album in its entirety for the first time ever in the USA plus select cuts from "Killers" during his upcoming tour in December/January. Support on the trek will come from Pittsburgh traditional metallers ICARUS WITCH.

Di'Anno's booking agency, Artists Worldwide, has released the following dates to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

Dec. 22 - Asbury Park, NJ @ Stone Pony

More dates will be announced soon.

Di'Anno completed his first U.S. tour in over 15 years in January/February 2010 with support from ICARUS WITCH (who also served as Di'Anno's backing band for the tour).

Fan-filmed video footage of Di'Anno's September 3, 2010 performance at Macaboo Bar in São Paulo, Brazil can be viewed below.

In a recent interview with Australia's PressRecordOnline.com, Paul Di'Anno was asked what the reaction has been like to his current setlist, which consists mainly of songs from MAIDEN's "Killers" and "Iron Maiden" albums. "Always get a good response for the old MAIDEN stuff," he replied. "Seeing as it's 30 years since the first MAIDEN album, we thought it would be a good idea to play the whole LP for the fans. I [am] also doing a fair bit of 'Killers'. I also add a lot of my own songs from my various projects. There a lot heavier and in your face. But yeah, obviously 'cause of the MAIDEN thing, people always react well. I just get in shit if I miss some people's favorites. (laughs)"

When asked about his past objections to playing IRON MAIDEN songs and what made him change his mind about performing the material in concert, Di'Anno replied, "Ah, well, you know, I'm always gonna get asked to do them; I'd be strung up if I didn't. But this time round with the 30th anniversary and what-not, I thought I'd play the whole bloody album. Some of these songs I haven't played since 1980, so I am having to re-learn a couple like 'Charlotte the Harlot'. But it's all good; makes them fresh again to me ears."

The Simpsons' Treehouse Of Horror, the annual Halloween horror comic series, is out, and appropriately, this year's issue features cultural icons MOTÖRHEAD, the loudest, hardest-working, hardest-touring band in the world,.

The series always features three stories, written and illustrated by some of the most famous people in the comic book business. This year's issue, #16, includes the story "Homer Goes To Hell". The online description says, "Metal music maestro Lemmy takes Homer on a hard rockin' heavy metal trip to Hell! Together they face the dreaded darkside." Phil and Mikkey are along for the perilous ride.

As MOTÖRHEAD's legendary founding member, Lemmy is one of the most respected and influential figures in the rock world today. Add to Lemmy the Welsh guitar-genius that is Philip Campbell, and the energetic flurry of skinsmanship that is Mikkey Dee on drums, and you have the baddest, leanest and strongest power trio in rock 'n' roll today.

MOTÖRHEAD's new studio album, "The World Is Yours", will be out in January, followed by a U.S. tour. Also in January, the long-awaited "Lemmy" movie, previously featured at film festivals around the country to great acclaim, will premiere nationally.

One of the most respected rock bands in the world, as well as Grammy award winners, MOTÖRHEAD continue their relentless boot-stomp forward, celebrating their 35th anniversary. This Halloween, the Simpsons go along for the ride.

As noted by Lemmy, Bart means beer in German.

For nearly three decades, Grammy-nominated Swedish guitar icon Yngwie Malmsteen has been amazing audiences with dazzling technical speed and ability. Malmsteen's signature style of playing, which combines elements of seemingly disparate styles of music — metal and classical, spawned the now commonplace genres of heavy metal known as "shred guitar" and "neo classical" and earned Malmsteen the title "the Paganini of heavy metal." Malmsteen was the first guitarist to have his own Fender signature guitar model (even before Eric Clapton). He has graced the cover of more than 200 magazines worldwide, has won every guitar award imaginable and to date, has sold millions of records. Time recently named Malmsteen one of the "Top Ten Greatest Electric Guitar Players," an honor he shared with the likes of Les Paul, Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. "Guitar Hero" enthusiasts know they have arrived when they are bestowed with the Yngwie Malmsteen award in the Xbox 360
version of "Guitar Hero 2". The award signifies a 1000-plus-note streak in succession.

Malmsteen released the "Raw Live" DVD on June 29. According to a press release, the set "provides an unprecedented and unique look at the rise of a guitar god. Spanning from 1981 through 1999 and encompassing extremely rare footage of Yngwie's early years in Sweden, this video displays the infancy of Yngwie's prodigious skills well prior to his first worldwide album and travels through Yngwie's masterful career, including his masterful performances from his first solo albums, 'Rising Force', 'Marching Out', and 'Trilogy'. Also included in this unique video are never-released behind-the-scenes footage of Yngwie and newly shot personal touches of Yngwie which open up the viewer to a side of the guitar maestro which is rarely seen by the public."

"Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards", the 14th studio album from Joe Satriani, sold 10,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 45 on The Billboard 200 chart. This marks the highest opening chart position ever for the Grammy-nominated guitarist.

Satriani now embarks on a much anticipated world tour, kicking off October 16 in Dublin, Ireland. North American dates will begin on December 1 in Atlanta, with scheduled dates in Chicago, New York, Boston. The second leg of Satriani's "Black Swans" tour will begin on January 4, 2011 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with dates confirmed to follow in Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Reno, Las Vegas and Texas.

Joining Joe on the road will be veteran Satriani bandmate Jeff Campitelli on drums, and newcomers, keyboardist Mike Keneally (FRANK ZAPPA, STEVE VAI) and bassist Allen Whitman (MERMEN), all of whom recorded with Joe on this album. Satriani's classic six-string sound has become a staple on the American music scene and is now matched with a tantalizingly rich texture of new material as well. All together, both album and tour, Joe Satriani's "Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards" promises nothing less than a magical, musical experience that lifts the spirit and takes flight.

Last week, Satriani made two special in-store appearances, to the delight of his devout fans and recent converts alike, signing copies of the new album, along with Guitar World's December issue, featuring Satriani on the cover. The two in-stores appearances were at the Best Buy West L.A. store along with Borders downtown in Satriani's hometown of San Francisco.

In other exciting Satriani news, music sensation Nicki Minaj recently sampled the classic Satriani song "Always With Me, Always With You" in her new release, "Right Through Me", from her upcoming debut album, due out this November. "Always With Me, Always With You" originally appeared on Satriani's platinum-selling album "Surfing With The Alien".

In 2009, Satriani joined with former VAN HALEN frontman Sammy Hagar, former bassist Michael Anthony, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' drummer Chad Smith to form the stand-out rock collaboration CHICKENFOOT. After a highly successful U.S. tour, their self-titled debut album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America with over 500,000 in album shipments.

Philip Anselmo of Down, Arson Anthem and Pantera meets horror actor Bill Moseley for the first time in this exclusive "Rogue on Rogue" feature moderated by ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino...

Philip Anselmo of Down, Pantera and Arson Anthem Meets Bill Moseley of "Rogue River" for "Rogue on Rogue"
All artists are driven by demons to some extent.

Behind the most powerful music and films, there's always some kind of thirst. It's that desire to push boundaries. It's that hunger to shake things up. It's that unquenchable fire burning through convention. It's that combination of blood, sweat and tears that makes an album like Arson Anthem's Insecurity Notoriety so brilliantly brutal. There are four souls driven by those classic demons propelling Insecurity Notoriety—Mike Williams [Eyehategod, vocals], Philip Anselmo [Pantera, Down, guitar], Hank Williams III [drums] and Collin Yeo [bass]. The album sprays vitriol like shrapnel, as all classic hardcore should.

Insecurity Notoriety is just what heavy music needs. You can feel that blast when it officially drops on October 12, 2010 via Housecore Records.

Legendary Down and Pantera frontman Philip Anselmo continues to conjure sonic intensity like no one else. Between founding Housecore Records and riffing on Insecurity Notoriety, there's no shortage of inspiring and invigorating music coming from Anselmo. In addition, he's got Down's new DVD, Diary of a Mad Band, a down-n-dirty look at the band on the road. You've never seen the road like this…

Horror stalwart Bill Moseley is driven by the same demons. He's become a fan favorite from playing psychos like "Chop Top" in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 and Otis in The Devil's Rejects and House of 1,000 Corpses. He's worked with everyone from Sam Raimi to Rob Zombie. Now, he's taking another turn at nefarious and malevolent in Rogue River, continuing to create real evil on screen.

There's an inherent connection between horror and heavy metal. "Evil Dead changed my life," Anselmo enthusiastically exclaims. "It was like Slayer's Hell Awaits, and they even came out about the same time."

That's not the only crossover between horror and heavy metal though. For this exclusive "Rogue on Rogue" feature, Philip Anselmo meets Bill Moseley to discuss their respective discoveries of music and horror, some pretty hilarious stories, favorite flicks and so much more.

Pick up Arson Anthem's Insecurity Notoriety and Down's Diary of a Mad Band and don't miss Bill in Rogue River!

Video of this interview will be coming soon!

When did you both find music?

Bill Moseley: I think it was when I was on my way to church on Sundays. I started playing bongos on the car dashboard because I didn't really like going to Sunday school [Laughs].

Philip Anselmo: That's where your musical career started? Believe it or not, the most influential album for me—when I was just a mere shrimp—was Walt Disney's Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House [Laughs]. It was side 2. The first side is a narration. It goes into this wind and howling banshees! I kept the whole house up with it. I lived in the French Quarter, and there was music everywhere, but that one record with all the shrieks and groans was it for me. As a kid, I'd be imitating that stuff. I think that's where I started using my voice. Not to mention, the whole house shook with Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. My folks were of that era. There you go!

Bill Moseley: My mom played Scott Joplin's "Rags," and the first '45 that I ever had was "Take this Hammer" by Leadbelly. I don't know why that was [Laughs].

Philip Anselmo: Wow! I inherited my folks' record collection. KISS was a staple when I was a kid. Other than that, it was The Beatles and Frampton Comes Alive—what a record at the time!

Bill Moseley: Your parents were into that?

Philip Anselmo: Yes!

Bill Moseley: We are of a different generation [Laughs].

When did you both become horror aficionados?

Philip Anselmo: When did you discover horror?

Bill Moseley: 10 years before you [Laughs]. I was actually crawling into the living room at night.

Philip Anselmo: It's the same story!

Bill Moseley: I'd see movies like Beginning of the End with the giant grasshopper and Killer Shrews. When I grew up, there was still black and white TV. I was told to never get out of bed once you're put to bed. I'd sneak down the hallway, try to avoid the creaking floor boards and go in and watch the "Midnight Movie." I'm from Northern Illinois.

Philip Anselmo: Did it have a horror host?

Bill Moseley: Yup!

Philip Anselmo: That's great! Your story is pretty much the same as mine [Laughs]. We had a black and white TV, and there was the "Saturday Matinee," which was a horror fest. As a matter of fact, I was home alone and I saw Mario Bava's Black Sabbath, but that's a later memory. There was the afternoon show, and then the Saturday night show had a horror host, "The Guru." Honestly, the most impactful one was the "Sunday Morning Movie"—films like Fiend Without a Face and How Awful About Allan. Believe it or not, those were on TV! Shit like that flipped me out. I would sneak up and beg my mother every night, "Can I stay up and watch Night Gallery?" [Laughs] I was sneaking out of bed too though.

Bill Moseley: My family was very Halloween-friendly, for all of the religion and whatever was going on. My dad loved to "arrange things" to take us kids to that scared the crap out of us on Halloween. He'd take us to the old "Hermit's House" at the edge of town. He'd park the car 100 yards down the street and say, "Go back there and get something off the front porch!" This was a house lit only by an old lantern with a bunch of old newspapers stacked outside.

Philip Anselmo: That's awesome! When you're a kid, you can see the ghosts in the windows.

Bill Moseley: We'd get up there, and somebody would scream! We'd all run back to the car. We'd go to the cemetery and dad would arrange it so the cops from town would bust us with the lights flashing and we'd freak out!

Philip Anselmo: He'd arrange it? [Laughs] That's incredible. As well-known as New Orleans is, it's a really small city. Man, they always had the neighborhood haunted houses. It stuck with me so much that I started "The House of Shock" in New Orleans. That's still a gigantic haunted house. I'm not associated anymore, but I was always Halloween-friendly as well. I loved the old rickety amusement park rides. I used to live for that shit. It's torn down now, but the only amusement park that we had in New Orleans was called Pontchartrain Beach. It was right on the water, and they had the roller coasters and all of that. However, it was The Haunted House! They'd play that Goddamn Chilling Thrilling Sounds soundtrack through the fucking speakers [Laughs].

Bill Moseley: Would you get in a car to go through the haunted house?

Philip Anselmo: Yes! It was this big Grim Reaper-type car. The skull would be holding you in his arm, and you're sitting in his fucking lap. It would break down so we'd get out of the cars, go running through and touch the props and shit. It was awesome.

Bill Moseley: I just went to a screening of Fun House!

Philip Anselmo: I like watching that movie for the fact that they're showing that haunted house. Those are killer memories.

Is there a real personal exorcism on the Arson Anthem record for you?

Philip Anselmo: When we'd created Arson Anthem, I'd come from a stint with Down. I'd done a stint with Superjoint Ritual, and Pantera had finished. Hurricane Katrina had blown through. When we came back home, Mike Williams' house was burned down in the riots after Katrina. Musicians were displaced, and everybody was scattered. We were fucking frustrated, man. Mike lost his record collection, which was legendary. He had every punk record you could think of from the beginning the genre. It's all melted plastic now. We were going through my stuff—which is pretty extensive—and reliving the days of Agnostic Front, Black Flag, Sheer Terror and Righteous Pigs. Then, we were like, "Let's jam!" In one way or another, that first EP we did was really out of blatant frustration. It was our spin on what moved us so much during that golden time in the mid-80s to the late 80s. That was when there were actual scenes. The scene in New York had hardcore matinees in
the afternoon. No matter where you went, New Orleans had a great scene, and Texas had a great scene. You can't leave out California either. The best two bands to come out California were Black Flag and Slayer. Doing the second Arson Anthem—which is 17 songs and 30-minutes long—there was magic in the air. Hank III plays the ever-loving fuck out of the drums. I'm not a great guitar player by any stretch, but I'm pretty creative. I've always played guitar so that isn't so much of a departure. It's like going back and listening to your favorite hardcore record of the time, but there is something that comes to life there. There's a lot of attitude, and I'm proud of it.

Fans can depend on the Housecore Record label.

Philip Anselmo: To every music movement or scene, there is always a thriving underground. It may not be a scene in a city anymore, thanks to Facebook and all of this shit [Laughs]. I like gigging bands that will get out there and play live. That's the difference. As a musician, I like to think and hope that not all of the fucking notes have been hit. I'm looking for those missing notes and the difference in music. With Housecore, it's not just a metal label. There's extreme music of all kinds. There are genres and sub-genres. There are bands I've got like The Sursiks. Where am I going to lump them? They're definitely not a metal band. Frank Zappa-ish, sure, but no….Genius, absolutely! Take a band like haarp. You can get their first two records through TheHouseRecords.com. Don't think you can't! [Laughs] What I'm most proud of is their third release! I produced this fucking record, and it is a monster. It's coming out November 23rd, and it's called The
Filth. haarp is a wide open vessel. They are conceptually bizarre. They're fucking great at what they do. There's an eclectic bunch that I'm dealing with here. We're not simply packing on bands to have this gigantic fucking catalog. It's one thing at a time. There's no pressure on the artist. That's another reason why I started Housecore. I don't want a record per month. I want motherfuckers to take their time and do the record the best they fucking can. Not many people get that opportunity to sit there and take months to finish a product. If it's worth it, let's do it. There's no rush here at Housecore. Take it easy. Be proud of what you put out.

How important is music to acting?

Bill Moseley: It's really important! I like to put together a soundtrack for characters. When I go into battle, I can chill out during my downtime and listen to the music that sustains that character and sometimes illuminates it. It's essential. Those are all kind of strands of the same rope. You have to hear something in your head when you're doing those characters.

Philip Anselmo: I get exactly what you're saying.

Bill Moseley: I actually did one scene in Army of Darkness, and I was hearing "The Ride of Valkyries." It was 4am, and I was on a horse. I was under about 30lbs of rubber, because I was the new captain of the army of the dead. I was leading a charge. I had a sword in one hand and the reins of my horse. I had a white milky lens over one eye and a patch over another with a little pinhole through it so I could actually see a little bit. I was leading another horse that had a rubber skeleton in the saddle, so I had to keep that low to pretend the skeleton was riding his own horse. We had to charge down through 100 extras with swords, pikes and torches at four in the morning in Acton, California. It was cold as shit. We ended up doing three different takes, and it was scary.

Philip Anselmo: How long was each take?

Bill Moseley: That was probably a five-minute take, which is a really long one. The situation was very perilous so I needed something to concentrate me, so it was "The Ride of the Valkyries." Somebody actually did fall off their horse, and I think he might've broken his back so there was a bit of a delay. The crew van showed up. Then there was a police car. That went away. Eventually a fire truck pulled up. That went away. About an hour later, an ambulance showed up and they actually carted the guy away. It was dangerous stuff.

Philip Anselmo: A five-minute take of one thing is long! I know that from doing music videos. Then again, that's an awesome story right there…

Bill Moseley: That was a stressful job!

Philip Anselmo: But now you can smile about it [Laughs].

Bill Moseley: I want to know your top five favorite horror movies.

Philip Anselmo: That's tough! Honestly, I get on different trips. I get on Karloff trips, man—roles that people don't know too much about. He's obviously a character actor, but I think he's one of the most underrated in a certain way. Of course, the image of Frankenstein sticks forever. However, right after Frankenstein, he did The Old Dark House, where he's Morgan the Butler. What a fucking movie! It moves at a snail's pace. The atmosphere is insane. It's got Charles Laughton and a young Melvyn Douglas, who was later in The Changeling. I saw that in the movie theater. I think The Changeling is one of the best haunted house films I've ever seen. Then there's stuff like The Black Room, where Karloff does a dual role. He's a twin brother. Bedlam's a great one. Then there's the original The Bodysnatcher with Karloff and Henry Daniel. It's so great!

Bill Moseley: When I did the remake of The Night of the Living Dead, I was told to prepare for the part of Johnny. I ended up using Die Monster Die with Karloff. I studied that.

Philip Anselmo: That's an awesome movie! I went through a phase of Lucio Fulci. He was relentless with the gore. I like atmosphere. I love Mario Bava. The atmosphere in Kill Baby Kill is incredible. How about all of The Exorcist spin-off movies? Demon Witch Child!

Bill Moseley: [Laughs] You know!

Philip Anselmo: I guess it's just a memory of being a kid, but I have an awesome collection of all the old TV series like Ghost Story and Boris Karloff's Thriller, which has great atmosphere and stories.

Bill Moseley: There's Night Gallery too!

Philip Anselmo: Night Gallery is awesome! You can't leave out The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.

Bill Moseley: Have you ever thought of writing a horror movie or putting out your own horror stories?

Philip Anselmo: As a kid, I used to do this and that.

Bill Moseley: Let's do one!

Philip Anselmo: I would do it. Given the outlet and the fucking time, I think I could pull it off. That's a heads down project, but if you say let's do one, then let's do one! It'd have to be pretty harsh.

Bill Moseley: [Laughs] Of course!

Philip Anselmo: We have to pick an awesome subject. I like to think that not everything's been discovered yet.

Bill Moseley: One of the reasons was happy to play Chop Top in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 was because The Texas Chainsaw Massacre had really disturbed me. It had hurt me deep. I made the mistake of thinking if I watched it another eight or nine times, I could push back from it. It only pounded that wedge deeper into me. It really freaked me out that rural America could be like that. I was young at the time. I was thinking everybody would be a hippie spiritualist at their core and not looking to eat me or my friends [Laughs]. I made it to Austin, TX in the Spring of 1986 to shoot Chainsaw 2, and I met Tobe Hooper for the first time. We were talking about Chainsaw, and I was shocked because he said he considered that a comedy! He thought that was funny, and I was shocked! He'd warped my mind for ten years, and now he's telling me it's funny [Laughs].

Philip Anselmo: Question, low budget, under-the-radar, did you catch a movie called Chasing Sleep?

Bill Moseley: No, I'm going to have to add that one to the list.

Philip Anselmo: It's a gritty disturbing film. You need to see it! It's a really trippy movie about this guy just imploding.

What's up with Diary of a Mad Band, Philip?

Philip Anselmo: Down has a DVD out that documents us getting back together. In 2006, we got back together after this long hiatus. I'd been through a major back surgery. I was just six months out, and that was pretty unexpected. It's raw. I hadn't really sang in a long time. We had never been to Europe as Down. Separately, we'd all been to Europe in our other bands, but Down hadn't been. We had this core audience there, and we got a slot as the unannounced guest on the Download Festival. It's the biggest shindig as far as summertime festivals go in the UK. We booked shows all around that for a month, and the DVD documents that pretty well. It's very raw, and you get to see how far we've come from that point.

What are you up to, Bill?

Bill Moseley: I've got a movie called Rogue River that's premiering Monday night at the Screamfest L.A. horror film festival. That is another happy film with me doing horrible things to people [Laughs]. I have a CD out called Spider Mountain No Way Down, and our music video for the song "No Way Down" is incubating right now. It should be ready some time in November.

Drummer Vinny Appice (BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN & HELL) has joined ARMS OF THE SUN — the project featuring Rex Brown (PANTERA, DOWN) on bass, Lance Harvill on vocals and guitar, and Ben Bunker (GRYN) on guitar.

In a recent interview with original TROUBLE drummer Jeff "Oly" Olson for Olson's new Internet radio show, "Heady Metal with Jeff Olson" (listen to audio below), Brown said of the departure of ARMS OF THE SUN's previous drummer, John Luke Hébert, and the addition of Appice, "[John] played on a couple of KING DIAMOND records in the '90s. Great drummer, just very hard to get to rehearsals. So we've been through three drummers now. And finally I convinced Vinny... I said, 'Dude, you've gotta come down and help me out on this.' Vinny and I joined another little side project. And I said, 'Look, I'll help you on with your deal if you'll come down and help me on mine.' So it's kind of a 'scratch-each-other's-backs' kind of deal. And we have time for both bands, which is cool."

ARMS OF THE SUN recently completed work on thirteen tracks that were produced and mixed by Terry Date (DEFTONES, PANTERA, SOUNDGARDEN). The material is set for release through Extreme Music, which provides class-A production music to all major networks and studios, ad agencies and production companies, including FOX, HBO, NBC, BBC, MTV, SKY, ABC, Discovery, Nickelodeon, Turner Entertainment Networks, Universal, Lions Gate, Miramax, Sony Pictures, Touchstone and Disney, to name a few.

ARMS OF THE SUN recorded the music, written by Lance Harvill, late last year at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Recording Studio in Austin. The project is executive-produced by Sir George Martin (THE BEATLES) and Mark Ross for the Grandmaster Series, which celebrates four of the world's top producers spanning from the '60s through the '90s, including Sir George himself, Terry Date, Jack Douglas (AEROSMITH), and Hugh Padgham (THE POLICE).

ARMS OF THE SUN made its live debut on April 17 at Lakewood Theater in Dallas, Texas.

Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS have been confirmed for next year's edition of the Roadburn Festival. Originally scheduled to celebrate 25 years of doom at this year's Roadburn in April, CANDLEMASS ended up stuck in Stockholm due to logistic complications arising from the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

CANDLEMASS is now scheduled to play on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the 013 venue, Tilburg, Holland. Starting at 15.45, CANDLEMASS will perform a very special two-hour set, which will include "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" in its entirety; featuring original vocalist Johan Längquist.

Commented CANDLEMASS bassist/mainman Leif Edling: "CANDLEMASS is on for Roadburn 2011! I'm very happy! Not only for the chance to redeem ourselves, it is still our 25th anniversary, for god's sake!

"A black piece of vinyl called 'Epicus Doomicus Metallicus' came out almost exactly 25 years ago, and it will be a bonechilling event for us all... to play the whole shit live at Roadburn! Can't wait! The lights, the sound...the projector show... everything will be absolute KILLER!! PENTAGRAM and CANDLEMASS at Roadburn next year. Jeez... what a show!!!"

The festival organizers stated: "Roadburn considers CANDLEMASS one of the most important doom bands ever. They are on a very short list of doom greatness that includes BLACK SABBATH, PENTAGRAM, TROUBLE and perhaps no one else. Their influence can be heard and felt throughout the current stoner and doom scene. It is a huge understatement to say that we're looking forward to this special set with both Robert Lowe and Johan Längquist."

In other news, WARDRUNA (the dark ambient folk project led by former GORGOROTH drummer Kvitrafn), ACID KING, THE GATES OF SLUMBER, LITURGY and RAMESSES have also been confirmed for Roadburn Festival 2011.

Sponsored by Terrorizer magazine and Germany's Rock Hard, Roadburn Festival 2011, including SUNN O)))'s special event, SWANS and PENTAGRAM will run for three days from Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional "afterburner" event on Sunday, April 17, 2011.

Rob Laing of U.K.'s Guitarist magazine recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt of Swedish progressive metallers OPETH. A acouple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Guitarist: Difficult question but 20 years in, what are your proudest achievements so far?

Åkerfeldt: That is a difficult question. I don't ever feel particularly proud in the sense of, "Look at me. I did this and that." I'm happy with every new album.

Guitarist: And it's all without compromise…

Åkerfeldt: Yes, definitely. Musically, I don't compromise for anyone. If you ask me to do it a certain way, you can just fuck off, if you know what I mean. Once the music and the lyrics are done, I can be a bit of a whore. If that's what the label wants me to do — I'll do their interviews, I'll do whatever they tell me to do in order to promote the record and work. But when it comes to the music, it's sacred to me. I can be like the Antichrist when it comes to people interfering with the music. Not the band — that's not a problem at all — but if a record label executive came up to me and said, "That riff is not good," I would probably headbutt him. "Shut the fuck up and sell the record."

Guitarist: You've mentioned recently that there's a possibility of you making a solo acoustic album – is this still on your mind?

Åkerfeldt: Yes, it is. I'm actually working on a song for it now. I'm working on one OPETH song and a solo song. But I did a vocal line and it was horrible! I'll have to do something better. The thing with this so-called solo album is it might not be released but it's something I want to do for me — to produce an album from scratch in my home studio without any help."

Guitarist: OPETH are getting bigger all the time. Are the pressures of the business greater on you now personally?

Åkerfeldt: Yes, there's a lot of pressure. Once the album is done, it's relentless. I immediately go into four weeks of press trips and another two weeks of "phoners." Then the tour and interviews every day on the tour. And a lot of people want to speak to me because I write most of the music and I write the lyrics; I'm the frontman. So I understand, but it's fucking tedious. So, for me personally, there's massive pressure on me at all times. But I'm trying to get the other guys involved — especially in the interviews part, helping me out and I think it's important for them because I tend to be such a control freak about the music and it's important for them to have an opinion. I want them to do more interviews. They don't necessarily want to, but I want to do less! When OPETH is in the magazine, I don't just want it to be me on the cover, I want it to be the band.

Swedish sleaze rockers HARDCORE SUPERSTAR will release their new album, "Split Your Lip", in Europe on November 26 via Nuclear Blast Records (except in Scandinavia, where it will be made available through Gain Records). The CD's first single, a two-side split featuring the songs "Moonshine" and "Guestlist", will be made available in early November exclusively with Sweden Rock Magazine.

Check out the album artwork below.

Commented drummer Magnus "Adde" Andreasson: "The original idea for the cover was to have a sexy woman to scratch a mans back but when we later on had a dinner/sauna/drinking session while listening to the new album it took another direction. We were all in the sauna with a boombox blasting out the song 'Split Your Lip' when our dear friend Biffen (roadie for IN FLAMES, THE HAUNTED, ENTOMBED and many more) pulled up his arm to do the universal sign of licking someones pussy. Our record boss, Markus Tagaris of Gain Records Sweden, immediately picked up the idea of having that sign on the cover."

"Split Your Lip" was recorded over a five-day period at at Bohus Sound studios in Kungälv, Sweden with producer Tobias Lindell.

"Split Your Lip" will feature the following tracks, among others:

Backstage Auctions trusts the immense popularity of heavy metal music and memorabilia among fans and collectors around the world to successfully pull off a rare and historical hard rock and heavy metal auction. Headlining the auction is the personal collection of MINISTRY's frontman Al Jourgensen. "Jourgensen's collection is by far one of the most defining collections we have had come through our doors and can be easily described with one word, EPIC," says Backstage Auctions founder Jacques van Gool.

After 30 years of making records and touring in support of those records, Jourgensen felt the time was right to open up "Buck Satan's" vault and share his personal relics with the legions of loyal fans around world. "I have one more album in me — my BUCK SATAN project, which I am working on now with Rick Nielsen (CHEAP TRICK), Tony Campos (STATIC-X), Mike Scaccia (RIGOR MORTIS) and Dave Lombardo (SLAYER) and then I want to take a long break and rest for a while," explained Jourgensen to van Gool at Jourgensen's 13th Planet compound in El Paso.

Among the many highlights is an amazing offering of gear and equipment, including four of Al's personal guitars which are all concert and studio used. Additionally, there are Marshall and Crate amps, road cases, Roland keyboards, MINISTRY and REVCO stage backdrops and even two "Skull & Bones" microphone stands which have been extensively used over the years and are true works of art in their own right, created by legendary "bone sculptor" Turner Van Blarcum, notorious for the MINISTRY LaLaPoLooza bone set designs.

For the collector who is looking to get a piece of Jourgensen, the auction will certainly have a wild selection of "iconic memorabilia." The auction features Jourgensen's personal leather jackets, coats, pants, vests, boots and even kilts which were all used on stage, in videos and photo sessions," says van Gool. There is also an impressive variety of accessories such as sun glasses, goggles, skull caps, gauntlets, boot straps and a half dozen custom designed rings.

For MINISTRY aficionados', the auction will feature a selection of rare and one-of-a-kind mementos such as several handwritten lyrics, original two-inch master recording reels for MINISTRY classics such as "N.W.O.", tour itineraries, a cool megaphone, band signed drumhead, vinyl, a large signed CD collection and a most stunning collection of signed concert posters from around the world, including the most desirable Dublin 2008 concert poster, which happened to be for the last-ever MINISTRY concert.

Rarely does a high-profile artist offer such a comprehensive, historic and personal collection like this. This exciting accumulation of mementos is nothing short of breath-taking and a sure dream coming true for the dedicated and loyal MINISTRY following around the globe.

The event, aptly titled the "Rock Gods and Metal Monsters Auction", also features the personal collections Walter O'Brien (Concrete Management, co-founder), Rudy Sarzo (QUIET RIOT, OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, DIO), Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, ALCATRAZZ, IMPELLITTERI), Scott Rockenfield (QUEENSRŸCHE), Kip Winger (WINGER), Bobby Rondinelli (BLACK SABBATH, AEROSMITH) and John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON), just to name a few. "When we designed the hard rock and heavy metal themed auction, we really tried to build an event that was not only unique but give fans and collectors access to pieces of rock history that were equally rare and one of kind and we have definitely achieved that goal," says Jacques.

The auction will showcase over 400 exceptionally rare pieces of rock memorabilia, including over 50 gold and platinum records awards, an awesome selection of artist used guitars, stage props, drums, artist stage worn apparel, master recordings, rare concert posters and original photos, promo vinyl and loads more!

SLIPKNOT percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan recently spoke to Sirius XM satellite radio (see video below) about the band's future following the passing of the band's bassist, Paul Gray.

"Starting the band with Paul, I have a heavy responsibility every day to honestly think about what he would have liked for what we started together," he said.

"What we started together isn't what it is without all nine — it's not just Paul and I in this band, let's make that clear — but we started something together and it's very hard to wake up every day and do this without having to take one second to think what he would have liked out of it. And what I know he wants out of it is... He's already bigger than... [chuckles] He's so big right now, so now it's time for the rest of us to get what we've always needed to get, and that's all the big bands need to get the fuck out of my face and all the industry needs to get the fuck out of my face and everybody needs to get out of our way 'cause we're gonna spread the seed. And I mean that. And it's gonna be a minute. But this is a threat, you know what I mean?! Today is a threat. Today is a new beginning. And that's how I want it to live. That's how I want it to be.

"I understand more of what we are now by losing one of my best friends, and it's horrible, but at the same time he speaks in volumes. He's motivating so much, and it feels good what's being motivated. I don't feel like I'm going crazy. I feel like... As bad as this sounds, everything happens for a reason. And I'm gonna miss him every day of my life and there's not gonna be a day that I'm not gonna mention Paul Gray's name, but at the same time, I just had a birthday a couple of days ago, and I bring it up because I'm many years older than Paul was, so every day I wake up is a blessing. And I wanna remember that, and I want everybody in the world to remember that, 'cause when you say the world is an angrier place... It's on its way out, and we will be the band that will play the music for its way out."

SLIPKNOT's "(sic)nesses" DVD sold 9,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's Top Music Videos chart. The disc features footage of the band's headlining appearance at the annual Download festival in the U.K., where they performed in front of 80,000 of their rabid fans.

"'(sic)nesses' was one of the single hardest pieces of art for us to complete, given the circumstances," Crahan told ARTISTdirect. "It's a testament to our evolution and proof of accomplishing exactly what we set out to do over 10 years ago. We will never be the same. You will never be the same. Here's to the future and our continuing evolution."

Gray's body was found on May 24 in a hotel room in a Des Moines, Iowa suburb. A coroner ruled that the 38-year-old musician died of an accidental overdose of morphine.

Sweden's INEVITABLE END has completed work on its second full-length album, "The Oculus", for an early 2011 release via Relapse Records. "There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret", the third album from Sheffield, U.K. metallers BRING ME THE HORIZON, sold 20,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 17 on The Billboard 200 chart. As previously reported, the CD entered the official chart in the band's home country at position No. 13.

From the progressive opening riff and digital manipulation of choristers in the epic "Crucify Me" to the violins of "Don't Go" to instrumental track "Memorial", it quickly becomes clear that this is an album like no other.

The band locked itself away in a lochside mansion deep in rural Scotland for the majority of the writing period, and, free from distractions, was able to push its writing further than ever. Yet the album still includes the trademark elements that have become staples of BRING ME THE HORIZON's sound since 2006 — precision guitar riffs, venomously dark lyrics, massive beatdowns and gang vocals destined to be chants at the band's incendiary live shows.

The team at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden (where BRING ME THE HORIZON recorded 2008's "Suicide Season") was again at the helm of the recording, this time bringing in electronic and programming authority KC Blitz to assist with the instrumental aspects of the album. The CD also includes appearances from various special guests, including Josh Franceschi of YOU ME AT SIX (on "Fuck") who stated, "I'm really excited to be part of this record as it's going to turn some heads, and that's what music is all about." Also featured on the album are Josh Scogin of THE CHARIOT (on "The Fox And The Wolf"), Sonny Moore (a.k.a. Skrillex) with electronica contributions and Canadian electro-pop starlet Lights (on "Crucify Me" and "Don't Go").

"There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" is, in many ways, a concept album. Frontman Oli Sykes vividly explores humanity's collective good nature and the celestial euphoria associated with love, lust, truth and desire; this is balanced by the darkness and evil that is buried deep inside all of us. Lyrically and musically, the album is the band's most honest work to date as Sykes lays bare his fears, weaknesses and anger, which is just one layer on this truly progressive and advanced third album.

"There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret" track listing:

01. Crucify Me
02. Anthem
03. It Never Ends
04. Fuck
05. Don't Go
06. Home Sweet Hole
07. Alligator Blood
08. Visions
09. Blacklist
10. Memorial
11. Blessed With A Curse
12. The Fox And The Wolf

San Francisco's PALE CHALICE has inked a deal with The Flenser. The band's uncompromising, gritty black metal fuses harsh Swedish inspiration born of bands like CRAFT and HORNA with a more demented American sound one might associate with LEVIATHAN or local labelmates NECRITE.

PALE CHALICE will support WATAIN on November 17 at DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Also scheduled to appear are GOATWHORE, BLACK ANVIL and NECRITE.

M.A.N — the group formed out of the ashes of Sweden's TRANSPORT LEAGUE (featuring former MNEMIC frontman Tony Jelencovich) — has issued the following update:

"We have to inform you the sad news that our guitarist Rob Guz has decided to leave M.A.N and the music business. A personal statement will be official in the upcoming days. But we are also happy to announce Marcus 'Skägget' Bertilsson as our new guitarist in M.A.N. New fresh blood will pour in the veins of M.A.N, and we are looking bright at the future. "Don't Wake Up" comes off M.A.N's third album, "Massive Audio Nerve", which was released on March 26 via the German label Tiefdruck Musik. The mastering was handled by Maor Appelbaum at Maor Appelbaum Mastering in Encino, California. The band states, "The sound is insanily good; we are very VERY happy with the outcome."

Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based sympho/black/folk/power metallers BLACKGUARD (formerly PROFUGUS MORTIS) have confirmed their new deal with Victory Records. The band states, "At first (and second) glance this might seem like an odd pairing, but Victory is a very hard-working label that we are all 100% behind. The Victory staff has welcomed us with open arms and are committed to pushing our next release to its full potential.

"It's no secret that we've been touring extensively this past year and a half , and it's comforting to know we have a label backing us that are willing to work and put in as much effort as we have for the release of our third record (second under the name BLACKGUARD).

"That being said we are hard at work completing our next record which has a tentative release date for April. The release will coincide with a North American tour that isn't announced yet , but when it does it's going to turn heads."

Los Angeles based progressive death metal titans THE FACELESS are preparing to embark on a massive North American fall tour as direct support to SUFFOCATION while completing work on their much-anticipated third full-length release. These genre visionaries truly burned the candle at both ends, working diligently on new material all summer long while co-headlining the annual "Summer Slaughter" tour.

Decibel magazine's "The Decibel Defiance Tour" — featuring SUFFOCATION, THE FACELESS, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, DECREPIT BIRTH and FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE — kicks off in Worcester, Massachusetts on October 15 at the annual Rock and Shock festival.

Commented THE FACELESS guitarist Michael Keene: "After the 'Summer Slaughter' tour wrapped up, we were left with a very refreshing sense of energy and change.

"It was great to get out and play such killer shows with all of those talented bands and the experience has super-charged the excitement of writing new material and pushing ourselves to new musical boundaries as a group and individual musicians/performers.

"The writing process for our upcoming third record is in full swing and it's a very exciting, fulfilling musical journey so far.

"We'll be debuting a new song on our upcoming tour with SUFFOCATION, which I feel is a great example of the direction in which the new material is headed. Expect a very progressive and vibey record that maintains the high-energy that you would expect of THE FACELESS and even more thought provoking lyrical content than ever before.

"We'll be hitting the road in just a few days to wrap up the touring cycle for 'Planetary Duality'. We'll be locked up in my recording studio in Los Angeles once we get home.

"This will be the last tour we'll be doing until we complete the recording of our new record. With that said, we want to make this a special tour for fans who may have seen us on the 'Summer Slaughter' tour. Therefore, we'll be playing more old songs than usual and debuting a brand new song for you!"
