I was thinking more on the critical lines. I realize that reviews are just
that, 'reviews'. The silly part is that now that Led Zep is part of the
elite memories of the era, the journalistic types goo all over about them
and their influence. Of course that true, but back then they weren't
darlings of the press at all, with albums get both good and bad reviews.

Led Z was big here, but honestly they were not in the same league as a group
like Purple. Like you said, 'circle of friends'. There were few people who
didn't own Machine Head or Who Do We Think We Are. Sabbath was enormous,
again, albums like Paranoid were mandatory parts of anybody who was
anybodies collection ; )
