Re: [Classic_Rock_Forever] The Group Most Panned By Critics....

Rolling Stones didn't just suddenly become aware of how popular & good Led Zeppelin was. They just jumped on the fast moving band wagon. Rolling Stone for years thought they controlled the direction rock went and telling people what they should like. I learned a long time ago to not listen to critics, but to find out for myself if I liked a band or not.

Metallica also comes to mind. And Rolling Stone ran a love/hate relationship with Led Zeppelin throughout the 70's. That is, until 1980, when John Bonham passed, and THEN they realized how hip and popular Zeppelin had been.

What was the group most panned(disliked) by the critics, that achieved the most success?

I believe that honor goes to Led Zeppelin.
