Darryl Sterdan of QMI Agency recently conducted an interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

QMI Agency: Was it tough to quit drinking? It seems to have been a big part of your image.

Zakk: People ask if I'm on a 12-step program. No. I have a one-step program: I'm done, dude. I mean, I still go to bars. I hang out with my buddies and watch "Monday Night Football" at Hooters. I just drink the fake stuff. After all, what am I supposed to do for the rest of my life? Stay home? Everyone I hang with gets hammered out of their minds. So many of my friends say, "I couldn't quit." But after I had the blood clots, the doctor told me that if I went out berzerking with the guys and was throwing down like nobody's business, I'd literally start bleeding out of every orifice — my mouth, my nose, my ass, my eyes, my dick. It would be a tsunami of blood, dude. And I'd be dead. Right there. I'd be leaving Hooters on a fucking gurney, dude. So it was easy to quit after that. And my friends just say, "We lost a drinking partner — but we gained a designated driver. Come pick us up, jackass."

QMI Agency: Ozzy said your drinking was part of the reason you parted company. Is that true?

Zakk: Well, he was also saying for a couple of years that he wanted to change things up. So I don't know. And whatever reason it was — my drinking, my beard, my weightlifting — I still love Ozzy. He can't do any wrong in my eyes. When I do interviews, people want me to say something bad about the Boss. But without him, there'd be no Zakk Wylde. There'd be no BLACK LABEL. I wouldn't have my own brand of coffee and hot sauces and beef jerky. These wouldn't be any Doom Crew pubs, which is this new sports-bar venture I'm working on. I wouldn't be starting my own record label. I wouldn't be writing the Black Label Guitar Bible or this coffee table book I'm writing or the movie script I'm working on. I wouldn't have my Black Label Bunker, my studio. I wouldn't have any of that without him. So yeah, I really hate the guy. (Laughs)

QMI Agency: If Ozzy called you up, would you go back?

Zakk: Gus G. is the guy now, man. And he's playing his ass off, dude. But if he sprained his wrist in a bizarre whackathon mishap — and I've had several of those injuries myself — and Ozzy asked me to fill in for a couple of weeks, I'd say yeah.

OneMetal.com recently conducted an interview with OZZY OSBOURNE/FIREWIND guitarist Gus G. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

OneMetal.com: In a previous interview back around the time of FIREWIND's "The Premonition" album, you said you were focusing on FIREWIND and you didn't want to play for anyone else. With that in mind, now where do your priorities lie and have you found it difficult juggling the two with Ozzy and FIREWIND?

Gus: That's a tricky question, and I think you are trying to get something out of this. I'm focused on both things, man. I mean, this is what I do and I don't really understand what you mean. I mean, if I love one band more than the other, or if I am focusing more on one. I am doing both bands the best I can, and this is what I do for a living, so I'm not sure what you are trying to get out of it.

OneMetal.com: I wasn't trying to get anything out of it. Basically you have always been on the radar as one of the new breed of guitar heroes, and now you are thrust into the limelight alongside Ozzy do you think this will create a surge in popularity for FIREWIND?

Gus: Well, apparently it is already…

OneMetal.com: Have you seen a difference in terms of being recognized then? What about the rest of the FIREWIND guys?

Gus: I think the band has got way more recognition since I joined Ozzy's band. I mean, all the press interest is insane for this new album. I'm not just saying this is because I'm playing with Ozzy. I mean, the album is very good. It's getting way more press and alot more people have noticed the band, especially in America and the band's popularity has definitely gone up for sure.

OneMetal.com: The last FIREWIND album, "Premonition", [came out in] 2008, [didn't] it? How would you describe the progression in sound from that to "Days of Defiance"? To me it seems somewhat darker.

Gus: Oh, I don't know. I think we are still playing the same music that we played before. I don't think we have changed our style drastically or anything. It's just more of what we are doing, you know, I mean, yeah, there is a couple of darker songs in there and there are a couple of more angrier tunes in there, but then again there are ballads and rock songs. There's some faster stuff and some more technical stuff. Maybe we went and stepped it up a notch this time, but at the same time I think this album showcases all the elements of the past FIREWIND and kind of like establishes our sound and style.

OneMetal.com: I was actually going to ask you about the possibility of FIREWIND appearing on the likes of Guitar Hero. I mean, DRAGONFORCE seemed to gain a whole army of fans through their inclusion of "Through The Fire And The Flames". How do you feel about your songs being used in the video games, especially the guitar based ones?

Gus: I think it's really kinda cool to see that, you know. And, actually, me and Herman [Li, DRAGONFORCE guitarist] are going to be on a new video game that's coming out this fall. I dont know what it's called, but I think it will feature a six-string guitar apparently. But yeah, I think it's funny and I think it's cool, if there's some kids that are fans of the band and they want to play along with the songs like that at home or whatever, because that's the new thing, then that's cool. Or if its for the masses out there who use the video games, and for many we are not known, and maybe someone will find out about FIREWIND from there, then yeah, it's a good cross promotion. It's a good thing nowadays.

OneMetal.com: Bearing in mind all your experience you have had now, what advice would you give to any guitarists starting out?

Gus: My advice would be to just stick to your guns, just do what you want, you know. If you really want it you should set goals and go for it, you know, and don't compromise for anything. Just do what you want. If you want to start a band and get your songs out there, then that's what you should do, and you'll find your way. I know it's tough times for the music business, but there will always be a way to make it you know. I guess I am the living proof of that.

OneMetal.com: With you having such a demanding tour schedule… how do you actually manage to relax?

Gus: I actually just stay in my hotel room and just lay down and you know, whatever. Surf the Internet, call home, just take it easy, you know. That's all I do, really. I just try and take my mind off all the madness and craziness and just relax. Sometimes I just get too much stress and start thinking, "OK, it's time to switch your brain off now and tomorrow will just be another day." That's how I relax.

OneMetal.com: In terms of the current music scene, we have a lot of reality TV shows and music is becoming quite manufactured. Do you think we are being spoon-fed our music today?

Gus: Oh yeah. I mean, I think that not only for music. We are living in a fast-food kind of world, if you know what I mean. We live fast, we eat fast food, we want things without the stress, we want to take care of ourselves, but we want the expensive laptop, the expensive phone, but they all go by so fast. It's the same with music — albums come out and they go by so fast and they then mean nothing. It just keeps going and we move on to the next one. I'm not sure if it's a sign of the times or just where we are going in general. That's why I want to think that we put out high-quality music and hopefully our album will be heard in years to come.

07. Track-By-Track Interview with Slash

Slash filmed a video on August 27 for the song "Beautiful Dangerous" with guest singer Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson). Slash said in a Twitter posting, "[The] concept is twisted; Fergie's idea."

"Slash" scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart in early April, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies.

According to El Paso Times, the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS concert scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, September 21) at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas has been "postponed." Also called off are tomorrow night's (September 22) show in Lubbock and the September 27 gig in Corpus Christi, Texas.

No reason was given for the postponements.

The band last performed Sunday in Houston and went on an hour late, according to a review on HoustonPress.com. The reviewer said singer Scott Weiland opened the show with a two-minute rant and "seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative, bringing up his own past drug and alcohol abuse." He added, "Weiland's banter in between songs was odd and confusing. He touched on using inner-ear monitors, the band's first gigs . . . what grunge means to him and why bands don't destroy gear anymore."

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' new self-titled album, sold 62,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.

"Stone Temple Pilots" marks the sixth top 10 for the band — its entire output of studio albums. Only its greatest hits package "Thank You" missed the top 10 (No. 26 in 2003).

The group's self-titled sixth album is its first all-new effort since 2001's "Shangri-La-Dee-Da".

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS reunited in 2008 after a six-year layoff.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have announced that they have "re-routed" a portion of their previously announced U.S. tour dates. All of the band's concerts that were scheduled to take place between tonight (Tuesday, September 21) and October 8 in Tampa, Florida have been canceled, with some of the dates having been rescheduled for late October.

For an updated list of upcoming STONE TEMPLE PILOTS shows, go to this location.

While no official reason has been offered as to why the band is postponing several of its dates, a review by Houston Press indicated that STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland "seemed off mentally, a little too meandering and talkative" at the band's Sunday night performance in Woodlands, Texas (see video below). STP also reportedly took the stage an hour later than scheduled.

Los Angeles-based experimental post-hardcore triumvirate PHILM — featuring drummer Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), guitarist/vocalist Gerry Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE), and bassist Pancho Tomaselli (WAR) — JETBOY and DEATHRIDERS, the California-based band featuring former ANTHRAX frontman Neil Turbin, will perform at tonight's (Tuesday, September 21) "Metal Revolution For Iran" event at the Aura nightclub in Studio City, California.

A press release announcing the event reads as follows:

"Soon after the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran on April 1, 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini, the Islamic leader of the new regime, issuing a Fatwa in response to the legal status of music in Iran, said that 'music , in line with the (mourning anthem) for (then-assassinated Ayatollah) Motahari is permitted.'

"Throughout the early years of the present regime, based on Khomeini's Fatwa, most Iranian traditional music and all kinds of Western music were banned from the media; homes and cars were searched as music cassettes and musical instruments were confiscated and destroyed. Singers and musicians were imprisoned and forced to flee the country.

"Banning music and dancing in Iran have been openly explained as necessary measures to stop people from displaying their happiness in ways 'offensive' to the religious rituals and prescriptions for human behavior, according to the interpretations of the new ruling class, and to stop corruption in the society. For many years following the 1979 revolution, musical instruments which were confiscated were introduced as incriminating evidence in revolutionary courts to condemn everyone who was destined for imprisonment or execution for a variety of reasons.

"The importation or manufacturing of musical instruments along with related electronic devices were banned until public pressure forced their conditional legalization in the mid-1990s.

"Today, within the Iranian media and in public, all kinds of dancing are illegal and punishable; singing by women is banned from all media, men and women playing music together, such as in a symphonic orchestra is technically illegal and very rare since 1979. All but the most traditional or religious singers and musicians are either in exile or performing in illegal and semi-legal venues inside Iran.

"In an atmosphere encouraging sadness and mourning, where music, display of happiness and personal feelings are discouraged and illegal, the youth of Iran have been breaking all the rules — in their millions — and have displayed amazing zeal in espousing and performing Western music and in particular the most anti-establishment and counter-culture forms of heavy metal which is more offensive to the ruling class of demonic Mullahs than even love or laughter! The Iranian youth, risking prison and torture, hiding their feelings in their hearts, roam the Internet and hold illegal concerts in walled farms outside cities knowing that their fun is going to last no more than a few hours when they're surrounded by the Islamic militia and branded as devil worshippers in the land of deceitful holiness and filthy purity. Within the last two years, over 400 heavy metal fans and musicians have been arrested in publicized cases.

"These brave youths, were reportedly the subjects of an investigation and secret monitoring by the super-spooks of the Islamic Republic: the Basiji. This Islamic militia which operates directly under the IRGC, obviously didn't have anything else to do other than carefully watching and filming (and perhaps secretly admiring) the 'metal' music and the 'subversive cultural activities of these blood sucking beasts' — for a whole year!

"In just a few days, Islamic Republic so-called President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will travel to New York City and address the United Nations General Assembly.

"Ahmadinejad is one of the leaders who occupied Iran and oversees unimaginable human rights abuses and he will soon step foot on United States soil.

"We remember when on June 13, 2009 the world watched as Iranians stood up and spoke out against a corrupt political system. In the days that followed we all watched in horror as Islamic republic's state police and their militia Basij, cracked down on Iranians who were only exercising their basic human rights, demanding freedom and a secular Iranian republic in place of the current theocracy.

"The history of human rights abuses in Iran is long and bloody. For years activists have been subjected to arrests, beatings, torture, and disappearances. Religious minorities are subjected to persecution. Women have no protections against domestic violence and are routinely subject to discrimination. Racial minorities are often subject to mass arrests at community cultural functions and homosexuals are routinely executed.

"In addition, Iran materially and financially supports international terrorist organizations which have murdered innocent men, women, and children around the world. That the Iranian regime is also pursuing nuclear weapons capability should concern freedom loving people around the world. The Islamic Republic has no problems sharing weapons including missiles to terrorist organizations, imagine what would happen if this regime were to get their hands on nuclear weapons.

"It is time that we take a stand and speak for those that cannot speak for themselves.

"Millions of heavy metal fans in Iran who live their freedom on the Internet and within the walls of their short lived concert farms will now scream with their strings and their voices: Free occupied Iran or face the millions!"

Former EXODUS frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza has quit DUBLIN DEATH PATROL (DDP), the band in which he shared lead-vocal duties with TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy.

Commented Souza: "I usually keep myself very quiet and reserved; I don't spill what's going on with me outside of music, [because] it's nobody's business! If you know of me, you know what I do, and what I am.

"This subject has to do with the way people act in my circle.

"At my DUBLIN DEATH PATROL show [on Saturday, September 18], while I was on stage giving all of our DUBLIN DEATH PATROL fans the show of their life, a typical Dublin idiot doesn't know how to act and creates a silent problem for me and someone I love.

"I don't air my dirty laundry to anybody, but this is fucking bullshit.

"My girlfriend and for you fans who know her, Vickie, was disrespected again for the fourth DUBLIN DEATH PATROL show in a row by someone who's trying to make my life and her life difficult, for whatever reason.

"So this is what I have to say… You have been successful; what you are trying to achieve finally worked.

"It's been an ongoing thing. Those involved know who the parties are. For these reasons, I have decided to leave DUBLIN DEATH PATROL. It was supposed to be a fun thing with all my bros and my so-called friends.

"The whole 'DDP for life' thing is the biggest oxymoron I've ever seen. There's more senseless unnecessary drama from that camp than any of my bands put together.

"If you thought you were being smart, you just fucked yourself and everybody else! This is a final decision. I kind of expected it and told myself beforehand if [it] happened yet one more time, you can fucking count me out. So guess what? Count me out! I am done! Fini! No mas! Fed fucking up!

"Those who know about this know who to go to; blame them, not me.

"You think you're going to treat me or any of my people like shit, guess what… FUCK YOU! So when this filters through, because it will, remember my decision is final and can't be swayed.

"For the six other guys that this started with, it's nothing personal to them, but I think that everyone was aware of what was going on, so nobody can act innocent. It was brought on by itself and I just ended it.

"I hope you enjoyed me up there Saturday night and got a good visual, because that's the last time ever. Goodbye!"

Video footage of DUBLIN DEATH PATROL's June 26, 2010 performance at Soundwave Studios in Oakland, California can be viewed below.

DUBLIN DEATH PATROL's debut album, "DDP 4 Life", was released in 2007 via Godfodder Records.

Billy originally teamed up with fellow Dublin, California ragers Willy Lange (RAMPAGE, LAAZ ROCKIT), Souza and three of the Billy brothers as well as some other local Dublin boys.

The seeds were planted in or about 1980 with a Bay Area thrash band called RAMPAGE, featuring neighborhood kids from Dublin, California — Chuck Billy, along with his brother Andy Billy, Greg Bustamante, Ernie Boehm and Willy Lange. The guys were about 18 years old and had all known each other since they were about five. They grew up listening to a variety of bands — from LED ZEPPELIN, KISS, AEROSMITH to THE DEAD KENNEDYS and THE SEX PISTOLS — and were influenced by the sounds of the late '70s and early '80s.

Souza recalled how the idea to reactivate the ultimate DUBLIN DEATH PATROL came to him: "Originally it was Willy's and Chuck Billy's idea. The first I heard of getting this project together was at a Raider pre-season game in 2005. Willy was telling me his idea of DDP and getting the old RAMPAGE guys together. But this version would have Chuck and I singing on every song and include different musicians that grew up in Dublin to play on this record. Well, I was right in."

After six months of writing, arranging and restructuring songs new and old. the guys went in to record the DDP album through strains and pains with Vinnie Wojno. Souza boldly claimed, "This is what we have to give to the metal world, a kick-ass, straight-up aggressive and in-your-fucking-face album of music by guys just from Dublin, California. Represented by members of TESTAMENT, LEGACY, EXODUS, VIO-LENCE, LAAZ ROCKIT, TESLA, HEIST and a group of headbanging Dubliners that deserved status. For fans of the Bay Area thrash whom I love and will always, I hope they dig what Chuck and I have done vocally on the DDP project."

Housecore Records recording artists CROWBAR, WARBEAST and haarp will join forces on stage on October 1 for a label showcase at The Hangar in New Orleans, Louisiana. With two of the groups hailing from Louisiana and one representing Texas, the showcase is sure to be a southern, dirty metal brawl. Doors open at 8 p.m., and the event begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the show. You can purchase your tickets at Ticketweb.com.

CROWBAR recently entered the studio to begin recording their new album for an early 2001 release via E1 Music.

CROWBAR will re-release three of its influential records — "Crowbar", "Live +1" and "Time Heals Nothing" — on October 5, 2010. These three albums are the band's core titles and have influenced many of today's major metal acts, including LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED. With each title originally being released in the early Nineties, this will be the first time all three records will be widely available in stores.

WARBEAST's debut album, "Krush The Enemy", was released on April 27 via Philip Anselmo's (DOWN, PANTERA) Housecore Records. The record features ten tracks covering a wide range of metal terrain aimed squarely at the neck-snapping headbanger in the front row.

WARBEAST features RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt, GAMMACIDE guitarist Scott Shelby, GAMMACIDE/DEVILFIST bassist Alan Bovee and DEMONSEED drummer Joe Gonzalez.

haarp's brand new album, "The Filth", will be released on November 23. Produced by Housecore label owner Philip Anselmo, "The Filth" is described in a press release as "an ugly, oppressive journey into heavy metal." Famed artist and tattoo master Paul Booth created the artwork for the new CD.

haarp formed in 2005 when members of several NOLA acts came together in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The Pulse of Radio reprots that PEARL JAM singer Eddie Vedder married his longtime girlfriend, model Jill McCormick, on Saturday (September 18) at a ceremony in Hawaii, according to UsMagazine.com. Among the guests attending the wedding were musician Jack Johnson and actor Sean Penn. Spin reported that the 45-year-old Vedder proposed to the 32-year-old McCormick last December at the Kennedy Honors gala in Washington, D.C., where Vedder paid tribute to Bruce Springsteen.

Vedder and McCormick have two children together, six-year-old Olivia and one-year-old Harper Moon.

Vedder was married once before, divorcing first wife Beth Liebling in 2000 after six years together.

PEARL JAM is currently on hiatus but will perform at Neil Young 's Bridge School Benefit on October 23 and October 24 in Mountain View, California. The two gigs will also act as an informal 20th anniversary celebration for the Seattle group.

The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) and Gabe Reed Productions (GRP) have announced that MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil will perform a free concert during the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI on Octover 23.

A veteran rocker of more than 30 years, Neil has been the boisterous front man for MÖTLEY CRÜE, one of the most well-known rock bands in history. Neil's latest solo effort, "Tattoos & Tequila", has received rave reviews and his autobiography of the same title is scheduled for release this week.

MÖTLEY CRÜE has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide and Neil has been at the forefront of that extreme lifestyle while performing classic hits like "Girls, Girls, Girls", "Kickstart My Heart" and "Dr. Feelgood". Neil has long enjoyed a special relationship with the racing community and he jumped at the opportunity to perform in front of a huge audience at the Texas Motorplex.

"This is a perfect marriage between Vince Neil and the excitement of ADRL drag racing," Reed said. "Both are all about living life to the limit and having a good time."

Now in its sixth year, the ADRL is widely recognized as the nation's premier sanctioning body for the sport of eighth-mile drag racing thanks to its innovative business model.

Drag racing is regarded as one of the fastest growing sports in the world and the ADRL is at the forefront of that movement. Its unique complimentary ticket approach has led to unprecedented growth and capacity crowds at each of the 10 events on its annual national tour, and mixing rock and roll and drag racing is sure to attract a raucous crowd.

"It's going to be great for fans to experience all the memorable ADRL action and one of the greatest rock and roll legends during the same weekend," said ADRL President and CEO Kenny Nowling. "By adding Vince Neil to the already amazing entertainment package the ADRL has to offer, this is sure to be one of the most sought-after tickets in entertainment history, and they're free!"

RAMONES formed in 1974, and are often cited as the first punk-rock group. Marky is the only living member of the longest running RAMONES lineup, which featured Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, and Marky. He has performed over 1,700 shows and has appeared on more than 15 album releases during his tenure (starting in 1978) as a member of the RAMONES.

Formed in London, England, in October 1978, KILLING JOKE was the brainchild of classically trained musician and vocalist Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman and drummer "Big" Paul Ferguson, who eagerly recruited two like-minded comrades in the form of guitarist Kevin "Geordie" Walker and bassist Martin "Youth" Glover and set about establishing a brand new and highly idiosyncratic manifesto for reinventing the rock 'n' roll wheel. Coming to life during what would become known as the "post-punk" era, KILLING JOKE was never willing to conform to the artistic restrictions of any particular scene or genre. Instead, they took a vast and bewildering array of influences and experience, and combined them to create something entirely unique and utterly timely that still stands up today.

Over the years, the band members have chosen to develop their talents in a variety of ways: Triple Grammy winner Jaz Coleman, for instance, has established an international reputation working with some of the world's greatest symphony orchestras, while Martin "Youth" Glover has become one of the U.K.'s most celebrated producers, supervising albums from THE VERVE and PRIMAL SCREAM, among many others, as well as achieving major success as one half of highly-regarded duo THE ORB.

Covered by METALLICA, FOO FIGHTERS and so many others, KILLING JOKE's apocalyptic post-punk/industrial vision continues to draw praise from such high-profile supporters as Jimmy Page and Billy Corgan, and the band's considerable musical legacy can be heard in the works of NIRVANA, MINISTRY, NINE INCH NAILS and the like — artists whose rise to fame never saw them cutting ties with the underground/alternative scene.

Once described by Paul Ferguson as "the sound of the earth vomiting," KILLING JOKE is now poised to take their music of resistance to a whole new level, both in the studio and on the road.

Former UNEARTH bassist Chris "Rover" Rybicki passed away yesterday (Monday, September 20) from injuries sustained in an accident when the scooter he was riding on was hit by an allegedly drunk woman.

According to The Salem News, Rybicki was riding a scooter in Salem, Massachusetts on August 28 when it collided with a 2008 Volkswagen Passat driven by Beth MacGillivary (photo of crash scene).

MacGillivary failed two field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .17, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Rybicki was a member of UNEARTH from 1998 to 2002. He played on the band's first two EPs — "Above The Fall Of Man" (1999) and "Endless" (2002) — as well as the group's full-length debut, "The Stings Of Conscience" (2001).

The Salem News listed Rybicki's age at the time of his death as 39 while The Daily Item reported that he was 35 years old.

Massachusetts metallers UNEARTH have released the following statement:

"Yesterday we lost our long time friend and original bass player Chris 'Rover' Rybicki. He lost his life from injuries sustained three weeks ago at the hands of an alleged drunk driver. The article from that accident can be found here.

"Rover hadn't been in the band since 2001, but he remained a good friend to us all throughout the years and this tragedy has hit us hard.

"Not only was Rover a talented musician, but he was also one of the funniest dudes you would ever know. His wit, dark humor and don't-give-a-fuck attitude made him a unique person that we all loved having in our lives. His memory will live on amongst his family and friends with the countless stories of Rover being Rover. He will be sorely and forever missed.

"Rover played on our our EP 'Above The Fall Of Man', our debut full length, 'The Stings of Conscience', and also on two tracks off our 2002 EP, 'Endless'.

"We would like to take a second to urge people to not drink and drive. Please be responsible so these tragedies stop happening."

Pacific Northwest band AGALLOCH will release its new album, "Marrow Of The Spirit", on November 23 via Profound Lore Records.

Just as AGALLOCH's last three releases — "Pale Folklore", "The Mantle" and "Ashes Against The Grain" — all differed from each other, "Marrow Of The Spirit" is unlike anything AGALLOCH has ever produced before. The first album to feature new AGALLOCH drummer Aesop Dekker (also in Profound Lore acts LUDICRA and WORM OUROBOROS) includes guest appearances by cellist Jackie Perez Gratz (GRAYCEON, GIANT SQUID, ASUNDER, AMBER ASYLUM), Jeffrey Neblock (VINDENSANG), and Nathan Carson (WITCH MOUNTAIN, TWO-TON BOA, SUNN 0)))).

Recorded and mixed on analog through the means of exquisite vintage gear within the months of July and August in Portland, Oregon at Audible Alchemy Studios with Steven Wray Lobdell (FAUST guitarist) and mastered and manifested in San Francisco, California at Trakworx Studios with Justin Weis (LUDICRA, SLOUGH FEG, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE), the six time-stretching songs that encompass "Marrow Of The Spirit" come across as their own distinct identities amongst themselves. At over an hour in length, "Marrow Of The Spirit" is AGALLOCH's darkest, bleakest, most dense, detailed and aggressive album to date and in turn is the most accomplished album of their career.

"Marrow Of The Spirit" track listing:

01. They Escaped The Weight Of Darkness [3:41]
02. Into The Painted Grey [12:25]
03. The Watcher's Monolith [11:46]
04. Black Lake Nidstang [17:34]
05. Ghosts Of The Midwinter Fires [9:40]
06. To Drown [10:27]

AGALLOCH has announced a West Coast tour with Austrian industrial/neo-folk/martial ambient act ALLERSEELEN. The trek's kick-off concert on December 17 in AGALLOCH's hometown of Portland, Oregon will also serve as the record-release show for "Marrow Of The Spirit".

The dates are as follows:

Dec. 17 - Portland, OR @ Berbati's Pan (w/ AERIAL RUIN)
Dec. 18 - Seattle, WA @ Neumo's (w/ ALDA)
Dec. 21 - Los Angeles, CA @ [to be announced]
Dec. 22 - San Francisco, CA @ Great American Music Hall (w/ DISPIRIT)

New York hardcore legends MADBALL have parted ways with drummer Jay Weinberg, the 20-year-old son of Max Weinberg (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND).

Commented MADBALL frontman Freddy Cricien: "I'm letting Jay go [mid-tour] in Canada because I just feel he doesn't represent this band well on a character level. It would go against my own code of ethics to keep him around. Not saying he's a bad drummer. I won't take that away from him. But the reality is — he has a lot to learn about paying dues, and about life in general. Granted, he is a kid, but I'm not sure that he'll ever be built for this particular lifestyle. I wish him the best of luck, but the MADBALL machine rolls on!"

MADBALL will finish out the tour with a soon-to-be-announced replacement drummer. All future band plans, including their upcoming European tour with SICK OF IT ALL, and most importantly, the release of the group's new album, "Empire", on October 12, remain unaffected and on schedule.

Remaining "Through The Noise Tour" dates:

Sep. 21 - St. Catharines, ON @ Level 3
Sep. 22 - London, ON @ Music Hall
Sep. 23 - Toronto, ON @ The Opera House
Sep. 24 - Ottawa, ON @ Ritual
Sep. 25 - Montreal, QC @ Le Studio
Sep. 26 - Jonquiere, QC @ Le Bunker
Sep. 27 - Quebec City, QC @ Dagobert

"Empire" was recorded at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, Florida with producer Erik Rutan, who has previously worked with MISERY INDEX, CANNIBAL CORPSE and GOATWHORE, among many others.

The title track from "Empire" is now available for streaming on the Stereo Killer web site.

Since forming in 1988, MADBALL has been responsible for some of the most important releases in the hardcore genre, from the seminal "Ball of Destruction" EP (1989) to the landmark albums "Set It Off" (1994), "Demonstrating My Style" (1996), "Look My Way" (1998), "Hold it Down" (2000), "Legacy" (2005), and their last release, "Infiltrate the System" (2007).

Norway's TO CAST A SHADOW has signed a deal with Kolony Records. The band's sophomore album, entitled "In Memory Of", is scheduled for an early 2011 release.

"In Memory Of" was recorded between January and August 2010 at Hamar Recordings in Norway with producer Kristian Sigland (THE CREST, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY) and was mastered at Leon Music Studio in Sweden by Rikard Lofgren. The CD features a guest appearance by THEATRE OF TRAGEDY's lead singer Nell Sigland in the song "Betula".

TO CAST A SHADOW's tale begins with a group of three friends coming together in a basement to play loud and pounding grooves, and continues through epochs of experimenting within a range of heavy musical stylings. Influenced by THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL, MY DYING BRIDE, TYPE O NEGATIVE, SATYRICON, ANATHEMA, TOOL, PARADISE LOST and BLACK SABBATH, the band's musical expression has landed firmly within the domain of melodic doom/goth metal. The sound was finally complete when a female singer was added to the mix.

Commented guitarist Marcus Granlien: "We came in contact with the label's owner, Lorenzo Marchello a couple of years ago, and even though this was at a very early stage for Kolony Records, it soon became clear to us that this was a very professional label, run by someone who had a true passion for music, and an ear for quality bands. With a new album coming up, it was very natural for us to contact him again, and we were extremely happy to hear that Kolony Records wanted to work with us. The label has over the past years proved to be a devoted, hard-working one, and we believe that this collaboration will be extremely good for both the band and Kolony Records. We have a fantastic album coming out soon, and there is no doubt that this deal will help us reach the next level, and an even bigger audience."

Added Lorenzo Marchello of Kolony Records: "I personally met the guys of TO CAST A SHADOW in Milan two years ago, and I was immediately captured by their music as well as their incredible devotion to the band. At that stage, the band had already plans to work on a second album but it was too early for both of us to talk about a deal. Anyway, we kept in touch and a recent meeting in Italy was the chance to define all details about the release of their new album.

"'In Memory Of' is an amazing piece of art; it reminds me of bands I 've always loved such as PARADISE LOST and early ANATHEMA, originally mixed with female vocals. I'm sure there will be a lot of talking about this release!"

Greek extreme metallers ROTTING CHRIST have issued the following update:

"Being victims of an unprofessional treatment from our South American agency, we are in the very uncomfortable situation to announce for another one time the cancellation of the so expected tour in Latin America. We assure you that we did our best as a band in order to save the tour but the luck of proffesionalism didn¢t allow us so many limits!

"It seems that there is a curse that do not want our band back in your continent brothers. Really, we can not give as a band a different explanation on this. The only we can give is our promise that we will use our own power to annihilate this curse and to make this tour happen in the close future.

"A huge sorry to our Latin American metal brothers [even though] that was not our mistake at all."

ROTTING CHRIST will embark on a North American tour in March/April 2011. Support on the trek will come from MELECHESH, HATE, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and LECHEROUS NOCTURNE.

Tickets are now available exclusively through EnterTheVault.com until October 6, at which point they will be made available through all normal ticketing outlets.

ROTTING CHRIST has added a special event VIP ticket for a pre-show meet-and-greet to take place one hour before doors. Each night, fans will get to meet and greet ROTTING CHRIST for a special event. Fans will also receive a customized poster to get signed by the band. These special VIP tickets are on sale now at EnterTheVault.com.

ROTTING CHRIST was recently forced to cancel a number of shows as a result of an accident involving guitarist/vocalist Sakis Tolis in which he sustained injuries to his leg that kept him glued to his bed for at least a month.

"Aealo", the new album from ROTTING CHRIST, sold around 400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 144 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Aealo" was recorded at Lunatach Studios in Katerini, Greece and features guest appearances by Greek-American vocalist Diamanda Galas and PRIMORDIAL frontman Alan A. Nemtheanga.

According to a press release, "Aealo" delves deeper than ever before into ROTTING CHRIST's Greek roots. Frontman Sakis Tolis explains: "'Aealo' is the transcription of an ancient Greek word into the Latin alphabet. It means thrashing, catastrophe or destruction and reflects the musical and lyrical content of the album.

"The concept of 'Aealo' deals with the feelings of a warrior during a battle, therefore the album's title bears this sense of anger, fear and grief."

Diamanda Galas makes an appearances on ROTTING CHRIST's cover version of "Orders from the Dead", from Galas' "Defixiones, Will and Testament" album, for which Sakis wrote new music.
