According to Dagbladet, a Norwegian emergency-clinic doctor left his patients waiting for treatment this past Wednesday (August 11) while he attended an IRON MAIDEN show in Bergen during work hours.

The doctor, who was one of two physicians on duty the night of the concert, told the Bergens Tidende newspaper that he unsuccessfully tried to switch his shift with another doctor before leaving for the MAIDEN gig. He also said that he was under the impression that things were slow enough at the clinic so that he could afford to make it to work a little bit later than usual.

The doctor has since been relieved of his emergency-clinic duties while the facility attempts to get to the bottom of the situation.

AC/DC, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, KISS and SLASH are among the nominees at this year's Classic Rock Roll Of Honour.

The ceremony — held by Classic Rock magazine and hosted by legendary rocker Alice Cooper — will take place on Wednesday, November 10 at London, England's Roundhouse venue.

Commented Classic Rock editor-in-chief Scott Rowley: "Capping off a year that saw Classic Rock explore exciting new formats with the release of the Slash album, the launch of our own festival with partners MAMA Group called High Voltage, and the continued success of the magazine as well as our sister magazine Prog, this year's move to the Roundhouse — with the Right Reverend Alice Cooper as ringmaster — shows Classic Rock's commitment to aiming high and doing things differently."

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson has posted the following message on the band's official MySpace page:

"We're two shows into the 'American Carnage' tour [with SLAYER and TESTAMENT] and things are going well after a short break following the Canada tour in late July.

"Tonight we played at the IZOD Center in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from Manhattan, NY. It was a 'who's who' of guests including Eddie Trunk (VH1's 'That Metal Show'), Jose Mangin from Sirius XM Radio, Rat Skates (formerly of OVERKILL) and tons of the NJ/NY metal crew from back in the day. It was also arguably one of the best mosh-pits of the tour, too!

"At one point we were all in our dressing room and it hit me that Dave [Mustaine; MEGADETH mainman] and I were in New York City in 1986 being courted by the major labels (just before we released 'Peace Sells…') when we went to this same arena to see METALLICA open for OZZY on their 'Master of Puppets' tour. I recalled having a really good hang with everyone after the show, including a nice conversation with Cliff Burton [late METALLICA bassist] in those same dressing rooms. Truly good memories of a time when we were all ramping up to our big days on the early thrash scene. It's good to see it all back in action again with the 'Carnage' tour.

"We all played really great sets tonight and it's good to be out here kickin ass out with the fans in the USA again.

"See you at the show when we hit your city in the coming weeks!"

According to CDJapan.co.jp, Universal Music has set an October 13 Japanese release date for the "The Big Four" regular-edition single DVD and "The Big Four" deluxe-edition two-DVD/five-CD package containing footage of the June 22, 2010 Sonisphere cinecast from the Sofia, Bulgaria leg of the touring rock festival featuring the "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal — METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX. The deluxe edition includes an event poster, a poster from each band (four posters total) and guitar pick (subject to change). The box size is 20.5 x 15 x 4cm (subject to change).

METALLICA was joined onstage during the show by members of MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX for a performance of the DIAMOND HEAD song "Am I Evil?"

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield, MEGADETH singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine and ANTHRAX vocalist Joey Belladonna took turns singing the song, which has been a part of METALLICA's live set for decades. The event marked the first time that Dave Mustaine had performed onstage with METALLICA since April 9, 1983. An original member of the band, he was fired just weeks before METALLICA recorded its debut album, "Kill 'Em All".

Mustaine, who was replaced by Kirk Hammett, went on to form MEGADETH and achieve worldwide success on his own.

He still harbored a grudge against METALLICA, however, with some of his feelings coming out in an intense scene with drummer Lars Ulrich in the 2005 documentary "Some Kind Of Monster".

According to Billboard.com, the Sonisphere cinecast from Sofia was beamed via satellite in HD to cinemas and was seen by more than 100,000 fans. It was distributed globally into hundreds of cinemas by New York-based BY Experience.

In the U.K. it was screened in 79 cinemas. "At the Odeon in Leicester Square in London there was a mosh pit, and at the end of the show they had a stage invasion, which is just phenomenal to even think about," promoter Stuart Galbraith told Billboard.com.

Matt Blair of ChartAttack.com recently conducted an interview with MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

ChartAttack.com: You're balancing a live tour and a book tour right now. And you've mentioned in the book that you have a renewed focus on your family, but you're doing a job which is keeping you on the road by the very nature of it. What sort of changes have you had to make to keep your family in focus?

Mustaine: Well, a lot of it was — you know, just by way of my faith and sorting out my life — it's made me appear to be more desirable to my family. They want to be around me more now. There's a lot of stuff that's transpired over this whole healing process that has made me a better husband and a better dad. The short answer to your question is that they want to be out here with me, and have already shown that by being on tour with me. We've spent more time together on the road just this year than I've spent with my wife in any previous entire year, you know? In a family, it's pretty much like having all four tires on a car going in the same direction. When one kind of goes off a little bit, and it's out of alignment, it impedes the progress of a family. So we all have to work together, and I think because I was gone to an extent, it forced my wife to be the dad also. And that's not a role that women are naturally created for.

ChartAttack.com: One thing that sets the book apart from the typical rock 'n' roll memoir is that while it starts off as sort of a "how to" tale of how to be a rock star, as you get closer to the end it actually ends up being more of a "how to" on how to be a father and live a family life. Are you hoping that this is something that other people, like your fans as they grow, might follow suit on?

Mustaine: I wasn't really making a "Dave Mustaine For Dummies" book, but yeah, if it helps people, that's great. I think human nature is that we want to help people, it makes us feel good. It's helped me a lot in a lot of situations where I was feeling the pressure of the music industry, to talk with a fan about what's going on with their life. Talk with somebody in the music business that's less fortunate than you. Take a minute to talk with a band that's, you know, a baby band, and share something with them. Now, granted, the odds are still stacked against us to make it in the music business because it's a difficult business to crack. It's funny, I've gotten to this place in the music business where it just feels so normal and natural to me that I've kind of forgotten how hard it really is to get into it. And I'm really, really grateful for that.

ChartAttack.com: In the book, you don't talk about the way you dealt with your addictions as a model that's going to work for everybody. And with your religion, you've said that this is what works for you, but it doesn't necessarily work for everyone else. You've essentially said that you're not going to tell anybody how to live their life, but this is how you're living yours. Is that just a product of…

Mustaine: [Laughs] What, being able to be real?

ChartAttack.com: Well, living on your own terms, sure.

Mustaine: I just think that, you know, you deserve better. I mean, eyeball to eyeball, right now? I'm not a good liar. I don't like lying. I've lied, I'm not good at it, like I said, and I just don't like it. So for me to have made a book that was based on lies, I would have really compromised my integrity. And I know with my career, I've made a lot of mistakes, and I think the fans have been really forgiving, because I've copped to it. And I've said, "Look, you know, this is why we're a lot alike, because I'm human. And this is why I'll never give up on you, because you're forgiving. And this is hopefully why you'll never give up on me, because I'm honest."

ANTHRAX singer Joey Belladonna has scheduled a couple of solo dates before he embarks on the second leg of the "American Carnage" tour featuring ANTHRAX, MEGADETH and SLAYER:

Sep. 10 - The Montage Music Hall - Rochester, NY
Sep. 15 - Grim's Roadhouse (formerly The Lighthouse) - Imperial, PA

The previously announced date at the Hard Rock Cafe on August 25 has been moved due to problems with the venue that are out of Belladonna's control. The new venue and date for the show is the Grim's Roadhouse on September 15. Refunds are available at points of purchase.

Belladonna was the lead singer of ANTHRAX from 1984 to 1992, and was considered part of the band's classic lineup (alongside Dan Spitz, Scott Ian, Frank Bello and Charlie Benante), which reunited and toured during 2005 and 2006. His voice was featured on over 10 albums, which reportedly sold eight million copies worldwide.

After splitting with ANTHRAX, Joey continued to make music with a solo project called BELLADONNA, which released its first self-titled debut in the mid-'90s. A follow-up effort, "Spells of Fear", came out in 1998 and it was heavily criticized for bad production and sloppy musicianship. The third album, or rather the demo recordings for what was supposed to be the third BELLADONNA album that was never recorded in a real studio, was self-released by Belladonna in 2003. It was a return to better songwriting and musicianship and it was well received by the fans.

Belladonna officially rejoined ANTHRAX in May 2010.

Due to a "medical emergency," GREAT WHITE's Jack Russell was reportedly forced to sit out last night's (Thursday, August 12) concert at the Brixton in Redondo Beach, California. His replacement for the show was Terry Ilous of XYZ.

Steve Brownlee, manager for Joshua Peraha and the band JOSHUA, tells BLABBERMOUTH.NET, "It was an awkward set mostly comprised of their ballads that featured Terry Ilous on about half the songs. Lead vocal duties on half the set were split amongst Mark Kendall [guitar], Michael Lardie [guitar] and Scott Snyder [bass]. The band even played a song from Mark's solo album and the set featured two extended guitar jams."

Ilous previously filled in for Russell during GREAT WHITE's May 30, 2009 performance at the My Waterloo Days festival in Waterloo, Iowa.

GREAT WHITE released its latest album, "Rising", in North America in April 2009 via Shrapnel Records. The CD was issued in Europe on March 13, 2009 through Frontiers Records.

Since reuniting in January 2007 to perform a benefit concert, GREAT WHITE has moved forward with the successful release in the summer of the same year of their return album "Back To The Rhythm", a record which was hailed by critics and fans as a return to the heydays of the band. After a world tour that celebrated the first 25 years of GREAT WHITE and that brought them for 14 concerts to Europe, bass player Sean McNabb opted out and was replaced by Scott Snyder (ex-RAMOS, ACCOMPLICE).

GREAT WHITE is:

Jack Russell - vocals
Michael Lardie - guitars, keyboards
Mark Kendall - guitars
Scott Snyder - bass
Audie Desbrow – drums

Canadian thrash metal pioneers EXCITER are scheduled to release their new album, "Death Machine", on September 24 via Massacre Records. The effort will be made available as a standard CD, a digipak and a limited-edition (500 copies) gatefold LP.

Regarding the musical direction of the new EXCITER material, bassist Rob "Clammy" Cohen told Greece's "Metalzone" radio show in late June, "It's classic EXCITER, definitely. It's fast and in your face — straight up."

"Death Machine" tentative track listing:

01. Death Machine
02. Slaughtered In Vain
03. Skull Breaker
04. Power and Domination
05. Razor In Your Back
06. Pray For Pain
07. Demented Prisoners
08. HellFire
09. Dungeon Descendants
10. Guitar Solo (title to be announced)

Check out the cover artwork below.

EXCITER's latest album, "Thrash Speed Burn", was released in North America in November 2008 via Blistering Records, the label formed by industry veterans Tomas Sunmo and Lars Chriss (LION'S SHARE). It marked EXCITER's recorded debut with new singer Kenny Winter, who joined the band in October 2006.

The 1988 critically maligned self-titled album from EXCITER was reissued with new artwork on January 20, 2009 via Magnetic Air/MVD.

According to The Pulse of Radio, SMASHING PUMPKINS will likely take four years — not two, as originally expected — to release the 44 songs off its ongoing project, "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope". The group has unveiled a few tracks here and there online, one song at a time.

When asked what the recording progress has been like, frontman Billy Corgan told Spin.com, "Things are taking off right now so much that we're getting a lot of demand to go on tour, so I've got to figure out when I'm going to record. Right now I only have three more songs done and waiting to be released, and I have probably 60 songs written."

Corgan made headlines recently after he fainted briefly while performing on stage in Tampa, Florida. Apparently this isn't the first time it's happened. Corgan admits, "I'm fine. Just a bit bruised up. It's happened before, where I just . . . over sing. I just faint. If you see the video, I fall down and when I wake up five seconds later, I get up and finish the song. The last time it happened was in 2008. I've done like 1,700 shows, so it's not a normal occurence."

Just five new songs have been released so far. After each new set of four tracks comes out, Corgan will release a limited edition CD of them on his own Martha Music label.

Corgan's new SMASHING PUMPKINS band includes guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Nicole Fiorentino and drummer Mike Byrne.

SMASHING PUMPKINS have scattered concert dates lined up from now through November.

Corgan's new book, "Chants Magnetique", will be available on September 15.

KORN will perform on the Tuesday, August 24 edition of "Lopez Tonight", comedian George Lopez's new talk show on TBS. The show, which premiered in November 2009, features audience interaction using a high-energy format. The program airs Monday through Thursday at 11:00 p.m. Eastern/8:00 p.m. Pacific in the United States.

For more information, visit www.lopeztonight.com.

KORN's new album, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", sold 63,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.

The band's last, untitled CD opened with 123,000 units back in August 2007 to land at No. 2. That number was slightly more than half of the 221,000 first-week tally achieved by its predecessor, "See You On The Other Side", which debuted at No. 3 back in December 2005.

"Korn III - Remember Who You Are" is the band's first effort for brand new label home, Roadrunner Records.

KORN is not only busy promoting its new album, but the members have also been outspoken about the Gulf oil spill while on tour this summer. Singer Jonathan Davis and the band are boycotting all BP products, and have encouraged other acts to follow suit, including GODSMACK, ROB ZOMBIE, LADY GAGA, RISE AGAINST, BACKSTREET BOYS, MEGADETH, CREED, FILTER and HELLYEAH.

Former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will release a new book, "Stronger: Forty Days Of Rock, Jesus, And Salvation", on November 30 via HarperOne.

Product description: In 2007, Welch's memoir of rock music, substance abuse, and spiritual awakening took the Christian world by storm, offering a raw and inspiring look at one musician's hard-fought journey to salvation. Now for the the first time, Head gives his fans a personal guide through the Bible, pulling together the passages that have meant the most to him into a open and candid 40-day devotional. Applying the Bible to his life and demonstrating how he has worked the words of the texts into his daily routine, Head offers a different kind of devotional — one that helps people integrate the Bible into their lives no matter what their history. Here he shows how he has used the Bible to reconcile his past with his future, influence his music, and help become a better father to his daughter Jennea, illustrating that now more than ever he has entrusted his life to God. Writing with knowledge that what has helped him can help others, Head brings his
unqiue perspective on life, music, and Jesus to the page, providing a day to day glimpse at the Bible unlike any other available.

New Jersey's MONSTER MAGNET will release its long-awaited new album, "Mastermind", this October via Austria's Napalm Records..

Comments the band's guitarist/vocalist Dave Wyndorf: "['Mastermind' is] a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock. The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven."

And the lyrics? Wyndorf laughs. "Well, the lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century. Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality. They're all here — sometimes even in the same song!

"In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I'll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms.

"When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on 'Mastermind' — rapid-fire emotion.

"What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way.

"In the end though, 'Mastermind' ROCKS, and that's what's most important."

In celebration of the record's impending release, the band has re-launched its web site: MonsterMagnet.net. Focused around the late October worldwide release of "Mastermind", the re-launch also serves as the world premiere of the new album's cover artwork, designed by Invisible Creature (WOLFMOTHER, CHRIS CORNELL, FOO FIGHTERS).

"Mastermind" track listing:

01. Hallucination Bomb
02. Bored With Sorcery
03. Dig That Hole
04. Gods and Punks
05. The Titan Who Cried Like A Baby
06. Mastermind
07. 100 Million Miles
08. Perish In Fire
09. Time Machine
10. When The Planes Fall From The Sky
11. Ghost Story
12. All Outta Nothin'

MONSTER MAGNET's last CD, "4-Way Diablo", entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 81. The album, which was also produced by Hyde and featured a cover version of THE ROLLING STONES' "2,000 Light Years from Home", landed on the Swedish chart at No. 51. It sold 1,800 copies in the United States in its first week of release.

Kenny Hickey of TYPE O NEGATIVE will fill in for guitarist Kirk Windstein during KINGDOM OF SORROW's upcoming Ozzfest run.

Hickey previously toured with KINGDOM OF SORROW in 2008 while Windstein was on the road with DOWN.

Commented Windstein: "Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be taking a much-needed break and will not be joining my bros in KINGDOM OF SORROW for Ozzfest.

"I have entered the AA program and am turning over a new leaf. 25 years of gigging and touring has taken its toll and my drinking is now preventing me from being the healthiest, best player that I can be.

It's been a fun ride, but I'm ready to tackle this sober and look forward to being at the top of my game with all of my projects!

"I am happy to say that Kenny Hickey will once again be filling my spot for these eight shows.

"Thanks, Kenny; I love you bro!!!

"Thanks to everyone for their support."

Added KINGDOM OF SORROW frontman Jamey Jasta: "The road is no place for Kirk right now. He has begun to address his problems so he can lead a happy and healthy life and continue to rock with DOWN, CROWBAR and KINGDOM OF SORROW. I only want the best for him and I feel like sitting this tour out is a step in the right path."

KINGDOM OF SORROW will kick off the first run of tour dates in support of the band's new album, "Behind The Blackest Tears", on August 17 in Tinley Park, just outside of Chicago, Illinois.

The band recently added two Ozzfest off-date performances, partnering with tourmates BLACK LABEL SOCIETY in Fort Wayne, Indiana as well as DEVILDRIVER and SKELETONWITCH in Rochester, New York.

British thrashers SAVAGE MESSIAH have inked a worldwide, multi-album deal with Earache Records. The band is currently working on its third album, tentatively due in early 2011.

Commented SAVAGE MESSIAH bassist Sasha Cron: "We are very proud and excited to sign with Earache Records. This is an exciting time for SAVAGE MESSIAH as we are currently writing our new album, and hope to be on tour soon to present the new material.

"We would like to thank everybody at Earache for this fantastic opportunity, and we are really looking forward to getting out and thrashing with the fans!"

Formed in London, England in 2007, SAVAGE MESSIAH self-released its debut album, "Spitting Venom", in 2007 to positive reviews. In 2009 the band entered the studio with acclaimed Grammy-nominated producer Chris Tsangarides (JUDAS PRIEST, BLACK SABBATH, THIN LIZZY, BRUCE DICKINSON) to record its second effort, "Insurrection Rising". The CD was mixed by Scott Atkins (GAMA BOMB, SYLOSIS, IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION).

SAVAGE MESSIAH consists of lead guitarist and vocalist Dave Silver, lead guitarist Sy Taplin, bassist Sasha Cron and drummer Mauricio Chamucero.

Dallas metal doom trio ELLIOTT'S KEEP has finished recording its sophomore album, "Sine Qua Non". Weighing in at an hour of epic metal doom, the CD "delivers ELLIOTT'S KEEP's signature heavy riffage, varied time signatures and diverse vocals styles," according to a press release.

ELLIOTT'S KEEP recorded again at Nomad Studios (SOLITUDE AETURNUS, CONCEPT OF GOD, ABSU, MERCYFUL FATE, KING DIAMOND) in Carrollton, Texas, with J.T. Longoria (SOLITUDE AETURNUS, CONCEPT OF GOD, ABSU, KING DIAMOND) at the helm.

As with ELLIOTT'S KEEP's 2008 debut, "In Medias Res", "Sine Qua Non" (Latin for "without this nothing," meaning "without this part of my life the rest is meaningless") will be released on SOLITUDE AETURNUS guitarist John Perez's Brainticket Records in the early fall.

"Sine Qua Non" track listing:

05. Damned
06. Beloved

Finnish progressive metal outfit ANTHRIEL will release its debut album, "The Pathway", on September 17 via Lion Music. The CD was produced by Timo Niemistö and was mixed by Jussi Kulomaa at MSTR Studio. The mastering duties were handled by Henkka Niemistö at Chartmakers. The album cover art and layout was created by Jan Yrlund at Darkgrove.

"The Pathway" track listing:

01. Devil's Lullaby
02. Mirror Games
03. Guardian
04. Repression
05. Haven of Grace
06. Dark Divided Minds
07. The Deliverance
08. Controversial Euphoria
09. Light Divine
10. Scent of Dawn
11. Promised Land
12. Chains of the Past

The track "Mirror Games" is available for streaming in the YouTube clip below.

On the band's sound, vocalist Simo Silvan comments, "We don't want to go extremity with any style of music. There is a time for a headbanging and time for musical landscaping. We try to keep our music as versatile we can. 'The Pathway' is a mixture of various different kind of music styles like heavy, pop, acoustic, orchestral and instrumental and symphonic metal. The music and lyrics were written hand in hand with the album theme."

Thematically "The Pathway" is a concept based on a sequence of individual songs and themes with inspiration coming from R.A. Salvatore's "Forgotten Realms: The Dark Elf Trilogy".

Regarding the basic premise of "The Pathway", guitarist Timo Niemistö comments, "'The Pathway' is the story of a man who finds himself grown against his former principles and philosophy of life. He decides to leave his past behind and begin a journey to find his own personal promised land and balance. As the path gets rough good and evil starts to battle in his mind where the reality and fantasy gets mixed. He puts the blame to the Gods for playing with his life and turns his adversities to the divine entertainment with consequences that ultimately lead to the discovery of perfect harmony from within his own soul."

With a style that is sure to appeal to fans of the likes of SYMPHONY X, ADAGIO and YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, "The Pathway" is "an absolute monster offering, possessing an exceptionally high standard of songwriting from start to finish with first-class performances from all musicians," according to a press release. "The final icing comes in the guise of an ultra-powerful production which puts many of the genres leaders to shame."

Hailing from Finland, ANTHRIEL is described as "a neo-classical band with metal and progressive influences." The group was formed in 2004 by Timo Niemisto (guitar), Antti Hakulinen (keyboards), Jari Kuokkanen (drums) and Klaus Wirzenius (bass), but it wasn't until vocalist Simo Silvan joined in 2008 that the band really found its true direction.

ANTHRIEL is:

Simo Silvan - Vocals
Timo Niemistö (ELIAS VILJANEN EVIL SPIRIT, VILLIELÄIN) - Guitar, Backing Vocals
Antti Hakulinen - Keyboards
Klaus Wirzenius (MANZANA) - Bass
Jari Kuokkanen (TERÄSBETONI) - Drums

Anton Reisenegger (PENTAGRAM, CRIMINAL, LOCK UP) has been named the new singer for the multinational band INNER SANCTVM. Reisenegger will enter the studio later this month to start recording the vocal tracks for the group's long-awaited second album.

Anton has been a friend to INNER SANCTVM since 1993 when the band was recording its debut album, "Frozen Souls", in Chile, and has since kept in contact, praised the band, etc, so this new union doesn't come as something unexpected.

Anton's credits include being the driving force behind the death metal legend PENTAGRAM, a band that has been cited as an influence and covered by such acts as NAPALM DEATH, DISMEMBER, AT THE GATES, UNANIMATED, ENTOMBED, AVULSED, PENTACLE and DEATH BREATH.

Heber Hammer, mastermind of INNER SANCTVM, said, "I'm completely satisfied with this second work of the band in every aspect, the same as with the actual lineup. We wanted to keep the essence and the spirit of our first album but to get a more personal and actual sound at the same time, and to count with a person of such trajectory and professionalism like Anton in this new chapter of INNER SANCTVM is truly an honor."

Added INNER SANCTVM's Francisco Martín: "I've been in acquaintance with Anton since 1986 or so, he's been always extremely mega-professional with his career and it's with nothing but joy that we welcome him to the SANCTVM family. With his vocals skills his giving a new dimension to our music and that's something that not so many others could have add to this band."

"Gateways", the first single from "Abrahadabra", the forthcoming ninth album from Norwegian symphonic black metallers DIMMU BORGIR, will be made available for purchase via iTunes in Europe on Friday, August 20 and in North America on Tuesday, August 24.

"Abrahadabra" will be released in Germany on September 24, in the rest of Europe on September 27, and in North America on October 12 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The word "abrahadabra" (which roughly translates into "I will create as I speak") first publicly appeared in Chapter III of "Liber AL vel Legis" (commonly referred to as "The Book of the Law") written by Aleister Crowley in Cairo, Egypt in 1904.

"Abrahadabra" track listing:

01. Xibir (2:50)
02. Born Treacherous (5:02)
03. Gateways (5:10)
04. Chess With The Abyss (4:08)
05. Dimmu Borgir (5:35)
06. Ritualist (5:13)
07. The Demiurge Molecule (5:29)
08. A Jewel Traced Through Coal (5:16)
09. Renewal (4:11)
10. Endings And Continuations (5:58)

In a recent interview with the German edition of Metal Hammer magazine, DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath (real name: Stian Tomt Thoresen) was asked why the band chose to break the tradition of using a three-word title for a DIMMU BORGIR album on its latest effort. "It was a tradition for the last records to use a three-word title, basically, for the fact that it represents much more of a unity thing than just one word," he replied. "'Abrahadabra' is more about the transfusion of new blood, I would say, in a way that we have chosen to do a lot of things differently from what we had done before. We wanted to break out of the patterns in many ways, including the people who play on the record, and also the studios we have used for the record — everything is basically different, so therefore we felt it was more right to use a one-word title instead of a [three-word one]."

When asked why DIMMU BORGIR chose to hire almost 100 guest musicians to replace two former members — bassist/clean vocalist ICS Vortex (real name: Simen Hestnæs) and keyboardist Mustis (real name: Øyvind Mustaparta) — Shagrath said, "Well, you can't see it like that; it's a stupid way of saying it. I wouldn't phrase the question like that. It doesn't make sense, really, because the orchestration has nothing to do with the firing of the two members at all. That's just a stupid question. We have used an orchestra before, but this time we're going for a bigger orchestra to make it more epic and sound bigger, and that's the way we want to go and that has, basically, nothing to do with any previous members leaving or being fired."

Regarding how DIMMU BORGIR plans to reproduce the new album live, Shagrath said, "It's not gonna be easy to bring 100 people on tour to do a show like that every night — that's basically impossible — so we'll probably use backing tracks for a lot of stuff live but also play some of the stuff on keyboards. We are planning, though, a one-off show — we'll see how it goes, but it's still in planning phase — to do a live performance with a full orchestra and a full choir, and it will probably happen sometime next year in Norway, if everything goes as planned."

Danish vocalist Søren "Nico" Adamsen (ARTILLERY) has joined INMORIA — the Swedish project featuring Christer Andersson (TAD MOROSE) on guitar, Danne Eriksson (ex-TAD MOROSE) on keyboards, Tommi Karppanen (MORGANA LEFAY, TAD MOROSE), and Peter Moren (TAD MOROSE, STEEL ATTACK) on drums. The band will return to the studio between September 13 and September 17 to complete the recordings for its sophomore album, tentatively titled "A Farewell To Nothing - The Diary Part 1". The CD is being recorded at Studio Soundcreation in Bollnäs, Sweden.

"A Farewell To Nothing - The Diary Part 1" track listing:

01. Blinded
02. My Shadow Fall
03. The Mirror
04. End Of The Line
05. In My Dreams
06. Just Another Lie
07. Save Me
08. Hear My Prayers
09. Watch Me Bleed
10. The Silence Within Me
11. All For Granted
12. Why

Singer Charles Rytkönen (MORGANA LEFAY) left INMORIA in June "due to personal reasons."

INMORIA recently posted rough-mix versions of two new tracks, "Save Me" and "The Mirror", on the band's MySpace page.

INMORIA parted ways with Germany's Massacre Records and is seeking a new label home. Interested parties can contact the group at contact@inmoria.com.

"Invisible Wounds" was released in June 2009 via Massacre.

Danne formed INMORIA in April 2008 and recruited each member of the band as he knew his hopes and ideas would be better realized with a full lineup and would be "recorded in their greatest potential," according to a press release.

INMORIA's sound is described as "a mix of dark, brooding music and haunting melodies" which "take you on an emotionally charged journey that will wrap its spindly fingers around your mind, subconsciously pulling you in a direction you may not want to go in, yet you cannot turn away from."

INMORIA's latest video, "In My Dreams", can be viewed below.

"Eifur", the second album from FEJD — the Swedish folk rock/metal band featuring members of NOSTRADAMEUS and PATHOS — will be released via Napalm Records on the following dates:

USA, Canada: October 26
Germany, Austria, Switzerland: October 29
Spain: October 27
Rest of Europe: November 1

The CD was recorded at RoastingHouse Studios in Malmö, Sweden.

FEJD formed in 2001 through a fusion of the folk music duo RIMMERFORS (featuring brothers Patrik Rimmerfors and Niklas Rimmerfors) and a couple of members from the metal band PATHOS. Rimmerfors played folk music with medieval undertones, performing on contemporary instruments, and together with their childhood friends of PATHOS, the transformed into a refined band with the best of both worlds — the weight of heavy metal in symbiosis with the typical melodic language and sadness of the Nordic folk music.

The brothers' interest in Swedish medieval folk music started back in 1995, commenced by music studying and the feeling of wanting to explore new musical ground and try something new. The brothers' musical background, as well as their bandmates, has its roots in heavy metal music. Inspiration is also drawn from like-minded bands such as GARMARNA and HEDNINGARNA.

FEJD released its full-length debut, "Storm", in March 2009 via Napalm Records.

German thrashers EXUMER will play two shows in Poland during the second part of their "European Ignition Tour 2010", on October 8 and October 9. This marks the band's first live appearances in Poland after an absence of 22 years.

EXUMER was among the first acts out of the Western territories to have their records released domestically in Poland during the 1980s. The band's popularity in Poland was confirmed by three sold-out live shows in 1988, each event drawing close to 8,000 fans.

Comments EXUMER vocalist Mem V. Stein: "We were very lucky to have our records released domestically in Poland and in Brazil in the '80s, opening up two huge markets that welcomed us with open arms, tons of record sales and thrashing fans. Times have changed and we do not expect thousands of people to come out to the two events we are scheduled to play in Poland as they have in the 1980s. Nevertheless, the amount of steady fan requests from Poland since our reformation two years ago makes us hopeful to see many of the old fans again and meet the new generation of Polish thrashers."

EXUMER recently parted ways with guitarist/second vocalist Paul Arakaki and session drummer J.P. Rapp. Guitarist H.K. and drummer Matthias Kassner, who were both recruited for EXUMER's last European tour, have joined the band on a full-time basis.

Commented Mem V. Stein: "It has been an amazing two years for us since our reformation in 2008. We have been able to play all the festivals and shows we wanted to in the past two years, even without label or industry backing. We are now looking forward to return to Europe in the fall and are excited to appear at this year's Way Of Darkness festival [in early October in Lichtenfels/Germany]. Unfortunately, Paul cannot be a part of this band's journey anymore, since he has decided that the travel/touring requirements from his native Hawaii are too rigorous for him. We accept his decision and support him with all his future plans. However, we are pleased to welcome guitarist H.K. and drummer Matthias Kassner to the fold. Both of them helped us out tremendously during our last European tour earlier this spring. H.K. and Matthias are more than capable musicians in their own right and will surely contribute to the band's future endeavors, especially with
recording the new EXUMER album that is scheduled to be released early 2011."

Texas metallers WARBEAST (formerly TEXAS METAL ALLIANCE) have parted ways with guitarist Rick Perry and have replaced him with Bobby Tillotson (a.k.a. "J.R." ).

Commente the band: "We are all parting on good terms and there are no hard feelings between any of us. We LOVE Rick Perry and he will always be our brother and an important part of the WARBEAST history. Rick is part of our WARBEAST family forever!

"There are no specific reasons that this is happening... so don't even bother to ask why. Just certain commitments with careers made this is a mutual decision between all of us. We are all in agreement that this is what's best for WARBEAST at this time.

"We would like to ask all of you to give your appreciation to Rick Perry for his incredible work with WARBEAST. Obviously we wouldn't have gotten this far without him. So please give the man his props and the respect he deserves for his creativity and talents. At the same time we would like all of you to welcome Bobby into the band. No one feels worse about this and has more respect for 'The Governor' than Bobby does. So as we end one memorable chapter... we look forward to what the future brings for WARBEAST. We hope all of you will be behind us as we enter this new chapter of WARBEAST."

A 10-minute trailer for "Krush The Enemy", the debut album from WARBEAST, can be viewed below.

"Krush The Enemy" was released on April 27 via Philip Anselmo's (DOWN, PANTERA) Housecore Records. The record features ten tracks covering a wide range of metal terrain aimed squarely at the neck-snapping headbanger in the front row.

WARBEAST features RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt, GAMMACIDE guitarist Scott Shelby, GAMMACIDE/DEVILFIST bassist Alan Bovee and DEMONSEED drummer Joe Gonzalez.

ENGEL — the Gothenburg, Sweden-based quintet featuring guitarists Marcus Sunesson (ex-THE CROWN) and Niclas Engelin (PASSENGER, ex-GARDENIAN, IN FLAMES) and vocalist Mangan Klavborn — has parted ways with drummer Daniel "Mojjo" Moilanen and has replaced him with Jimmy Olausson.

Commented the band: "The departure of Mojjo has been that of an amicable one and ENGEL wish him well for the future and thank him for his invaluable contribution over the last years.

"Despite his young age, Jimmy has already established himself as an outstanding musician most notably for his work with his former band Gothenburg-based MARIONETTE and is highly regarded as being one of the premier new talents to arrive on the Swedish metal scene.

"Olausson has been playing drums from the age of 5 and from that first moment was immediately hooked and there was really nothing that could stop or curb his interest in drums with the experience being so memorable."

Regarding the change in the band's lineup, ENGEL said in a statement, "It is always difficult for any band when someone leaves, and, of course, it is always difficult to find an ideal replacement but in this instance we are extremely honored to have found Jimmy not just for his ability as an outstanding drummer but with an outstanding personality to match. His contribution to ENGEL already has been immense and refreshing as he brings something new and exciting behind the kit which was exactly what we have been looking for!

"Change will always be part of any bands growth and development but as always we are looking to the future and the continued success of ENGEL and with Jimmy Olausson we are more than confident that he is perfect in this role. It is already a pleasure to have him in our ranks!"

ENGEL released its long-awaited second album, "Threnody", in Japan on April 20 via Avex.

The CD features the following track listing:

01. Threnody
02. Sense The Fire
03. Until Eternity Ends
04. To The End
05. Down
06. Heartsick
07. Feed The Weak
08. For Those Who Will Resist
09. EverySin - Leaves A Mark
10. Roll The Dice
11. Elbow And Knives
12. Perfect Isis
13. Fearless (bonus track for Japan)

ENGEL recorded "Threnody" at PUK studio in Gjerlev, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, HIMSA, SICK OF IT ALL). The band is currently seeking a new label home in the U.S. and Europe following its split with SPV Records (which issued ENGEL's debut album, "Absolute Design", in 2007).

ENGEL recently filmed a video for another track off "Threnody" with director PA Nilsson. "We decided to try something a little different from the usual approach and what I can say is that making this video was so much fun and exhausting as well," stated bassist Steve Drennan.

French metallers DAGOBA will embark on "The Death Cruise" tour in early October.

For a list of upcoming shows, go to this location.

DAGOBA's fourth album, "Poseidon", is scheduled for release on August 30 via the French label XIII Bis Records. The CD was recorded at Hyperion Studio in Marseille, France with "Brew" Varea and was mixed by Dave Chang at Philia Studio in the U.K. A track from the album, "Black Smokers", is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

"Face the Colossus", the third album from DAGOBA, was released in October 2008 via Season Of Mist. The CD was mixed by Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, HATESPHERE, MNEMIC) at Antfarm studios in Århus, Denmark.

Tue Madsen previously worked with DAGOBA on the band's sophomore album, "What Hell Is About…", which was released in February 2006 via Season of Mist. That CD featured a guest appearance on two songs by DIMMU BORGIR bassist/ARCTURUS frontman Simen Hestnaes (a.k.a. ICS Vortex, ex-BORKNAGAR, LAMENTED SOULS).
MADDER MORTEM, Norway's darling of the avant-garde, has issued the following update:

"Odd [Eivind Ebbesen, guitar] has, after much pondering, left MADDER MORTEM, and it was a very tough decision. We sincerely thank him for all the music, magic, great times, blood, sweat and tears we've shared since he joined the band in 2003.

"It's always hard to see people go, but times do change for all of us. Neither 'Desiderata' or especially 'Eight Ways' would've sounded the same without his characteristic style of playing and musical sensibility. We wish him all the best and will still remain close friends.

"We've been aware that Odd was thinking about leaving the band since winter 2010, and have been looking for a possible replacement.

"After much consideration regarding who could fill his shoes, fit in with the rest of us socially and be a creative, fifth input to the band, we only came up with one name. Luckily for us, he has now entered our ranks full-time. Patrick Scantlebury is our new permanent guitarist. He has already made one live appearance with us in our hometown at the NORF festival. Some might know him as one of the founders of FRANTIC BLEEP. He was our guitar tech and merchandiser on the OPETH tour in 2003, and he also filled in for Odd on a couple of gigs in 2005. We all went to school with him at Tynset, and BP and Pat has played together in various constellations. We're already busy writing more new material with Patrick, and it feels like we've got a true chemistry.

"We welcome him to the MADDER family and hope you'll do the same."

A photo of the new MADDER MORTEM lineup can be viewed below.

MADDER MORTEM released a new EP, "Where Dream and Day Collide", in May on Peaceville Records. The EP contained three brand new songs from the bandmembers' warped imaginations, along with the single and album versions of the title track, taken from the sublime 2009 release, "Eight Ways". The artwork was created by Christian Ruud, who, along with Kim Holm and the people at Toxic, are also responsible for the breathtaking visuals on the suitably mysterious "Where Dream and Day Collide" music video, which can be seen below.

"Where Dream and Day Collide" is MADDER MORTEM's follow-up to last summer's full-length, "Eight Ways", which Outburn magazine called the band's "fifth and perhaps most impressive outing yet."

Finnish thrashers MOKOMA will release a new EP, "Juurta Jaksain", on September 1 via Sakara Records.

The track listing for the effort is as follows:

01. Ei Enää Askeltakaan
02. Maailmantappiin
03. Huomenhaamu
04. Musta Katras
05. Taakka
06. Sydänjuuret (acustic version)

Four of the EP's songs — "Ei Enää Askeltakaan", "Huomenhaamu", "Maailmantappiin" and "Taakka" — were recorded during the sessions for MOKOMA's latest album, "Sydänjuuret", which came out in March. According to the band, it became clear during the making of the full-length CD that not all the material would fit on the record and some tracks were set aside for future use.

The song "Musta Katras" was originally recorded for the album "Luihin Ja Ytimiin", which was released in 2007.

The "Juurta Jaksain" cover art by Ville Pirinen can be viewed below.

"Sydänjuuret" debuted at position No. 1 on the official Finnish chart and was certified gold within the first week of its release. The bandmembers were presented with their gold-album plaques for "Sydänjuuret" on June 18 at the Provinssirock festival in Finland.

"Sydänjuuret" was recorded at Sound Supreme studio in Hämeenlinna and was produced by Janne Saksa.

Formed in 1996, MOKOMA describes its music as a mixture of late '80s/early '90s thrash and death metal influences and melancholy elements from traditional Finnish music.

After releasing its first two albums through EMI, MOKOMA in 2003 founded its own record company, Sakara Records, which has served as the band's label home ever since.

MOKOMA is:

Marko Annala - Vocals
Tuomo Saikkonen - Guitar, Vocals
Janne Hyrkäs - Drums
Santtu Hämäläinen - Bass
Kuisma Aalto - Guitar, Vocals

In conjunction with DARK TRANQUILLITY's appearance at the ARTmania festival, guitarist Niklas Sundin will showcase a new collection of artwork at the Bohemian flow club in Sibiu, Transylvania. Entitled "Ichtys", the exhibition opens on August 14 and will be on display for a month.

Says Sundin: "Needless to say, I'm really excited about this. There have been previous requests from people wanting to feature my artwork in public exhibitions, but I've always had mixed feelings. It wouldn't be too interesting to just display the album artwork that I'm primary recognized for, so I've wanted to wait until I had something that would be completely free of any connotations to commissioned music industry work and at the same time have a certain red thread, conceptually and aesthetically.

"The 'Ichtys' images are mainly derived from pencil drawings that are scanned, treated and assembled into collages, and the result is part medieval woodcut, part religious iconography and part nautical cartoon profanity. Influences range from Dürer and Bosch to David B and Joakim Pirinen, and there's obviously a major resemblance to my own 'Gadus Morhua' books.

"The city of Sibiu seems to be an appropriate setting for this kind of amalgam of old and new, so I was very pleased when the ARTmania people suggested that I'd exhibit something."
