AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry spoke to FoxNews.com about his recent appearance on Discovery channel's "Sons Of Guns" program, a reality television series that centers on Red Jacket Firearms LLC, a Louisiana-based business that manufactures and sells custom weapons.

"I have always been fascinated with guns," he said. "I grew up in America, so granted, it is part of our heritage and it is written into the laws of how this country is run. I've been fascinated with all kinds of weapons my whole life, and as I have been able to afford to acquire pieces, here and there I started to collect."

"I was very fascinated by the time when firearms went from being fire sticks to being something people could use to hunt and to survive," he explained. "That era, that 'black powder' era of firearms, has been my area of interest, and it turns out that Will from the show used to do the Calvary thing, so he is a 'black powder' aficionado."

Perry — who recently referred to himself as a "definite old-school Republican" — also revealed that he would like to see some "continuity" in terms of gun laws from state to state.

"It seems ridiculous that you can be in one state with your driver's license and buy a firearm, and then in the next state it is totally illegal," he told FoxNews.com. "There are real problems to that, but as soon as you bring up the subject and say 'gun control' it sets a red flag. It is definitely a difficult issue, and the bottom line is the Constitution is what it is, and I stand by everything that is in it. Right now, some of the statistics show that some of the safest places in the country are places where law-abiding citizens are allowed to have firearms, and the crime rates are low."

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper made a quick stop in Los Angeles for Universal Hollywood's 2012 Eyegore Awards, where he presented director Guillermo Del Toro with the evenings final Eyegore.

The annual award show is the precursor to the unveiling of Universal Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights haunted maze attractions. Among the new mazes this year is Alice's own maze called Alice Cooper Goes To Hell 3D. This maze was designed by Universal's John Murdy, the same twisted mind behind Alice's 2011 Haunted Maze.

This year's Eyegore Awards show honored several fixtures in the horror genre. Immediately following the awards show, Alice was one of the first who made their way though the Goes To Hell maze. Being a bit of a scary guy himself, it's surprising that even Alice was caught off guard at times. But after all, Alice is at home among decapitated bodies and creepy music. "Looks like my road crew," Alice said after his first pass through the maze. Alice enjoyed the maze so much that he went through three times, each time mingling with the park visitors and scaring a few children himself.

Murdy and his Universal Hollywood team delivered on their promise to Alice to step this year's maze up a notch. This was no easy feat, as John Murdy's creation for Alice last year was one of Universal Hollywood's most popular attractions of the season, clocking almost a million visitors. But let's point out something you may not have noticed about John Murdy. This is a man whosse last name is dangerously close to murder. This is a man who is able to get deep into Alice's demented psyche and create attractions that not only scare people, but also appeal to true Alice fans.

They are already talking about next Halloween...

Global rock royalty from such bands as IRON MAIDEN, SLIPKNOT, WHITESNAKE, CHICKENFOOT, THE CULT, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, DEEP PURPLE, JUDAS PRIEST, SLAYER and BLACK SABBATH took part in last night's (Saturday, September 22) Marshall 50th-anniversary event at Wembley Arena in London, England. The luminaries celebrated the life and work of revolutionary amp pioneer Jim Marshall with an unparalleled display of rock virtuosity.

Following the sad news of Jim's death in April, the event, which was already planned to commemorate Marshall's 50th anniversary, was ultimately held in honor of the legendary man and his remarkable life.

IRON MAIDEN's Nicko McBrain compèred the event and was joined by the world's most legendary guitarists, acclaimed musicians and Marshall enthusiasts.

A full review — including photos — is available at Examiner.com.

Check out fan-filmed video footage below.

Marshall died in April at the age of 88. A message posted at the web site of Marshall Amplification, the company he founded 50 years ago, stated, "Jim's ascent into the history books as 'the Father of Loud' and the man responsible for 'the Sound of Rock' is a true rags-to-riches tale. Cruelly robbed of his youth by tubercular bones, Jim rose to become one of the four forefathers responsible for creating the tools that allowed rock guitar as we know and love it today to be born. The groundbreaking quartet also included the late, great trio of Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover — together with Jim, they truly are the cornerstones of all things rock."

The site described Marshall as "a legendary man who led a full and truly remarkable life."

The cause of Marshall's death was not announced.

A former singer, drummer and music shop owner, Marshall eventually landed a job as an electrical engineer that helped him design a transportable amplifier to use at his own live shows. Consulting with musicians like THE WHO's Pete Townshend and DEEP PURPLE's Ritchie Blackmore, Marshall refined his invention and opened Marshall Amplification in 1962.

By the mid-1960s, he had created the classic Marshall Stack, consisting of one head containing the actual amplifier, on top of two stacked loudspeaker cabinets each containing four 12-inch loudspeakers arranged in a square layout. The setup has become an iconic symbol of rock music played as loud as possible.

"Fly By Night", the classic song from Canadian rockers RUSH, is featured in a new advertising campaign for the 2013 VW Passat. The 30-second commercial, which can be seen below, features a 40-something businessman stopping at a traffic light and rocking out to the song by playing air drums at the intersection.

The title track to RUSH's second album was released as a single in May of 1975.

The Passat sedan is available in the U.S. with a choice of three engines, the 2.5-liter from $20,845, the TDI clean diesel in SE trim from $26,225 and the V6 from $29,235. It was named Motor Trend car of the year for 2012.

According to Interbridge.com's "The Late Night TV Page", legendary guitarist Slash will appear on the October 4 episode of Conan O'Brien's nighttime talk show on TBS, "Conan". Check your local listings for details.

Slash's second solo album, "Apocalyptic Love", came out in May and was recently certified gold in Australia by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for sales in excess of 35,000 copies.

"[The album has] been really well received and I was really pleased with the record in the first place; it's great," Slash said. "You never know what exactly is going to happen and I never have any what you'd call expectations, but once it's out there and people sort of dig it for the right reasons, it's always a good feeling."

Slash recently revealed that he and singer Myles Kennedy have already begun working on music for the guitarist's next album, to be recorded sometime next year.

"We are working on material, gathering ideas for another [record] at this point," Slash told Rapid City Journal. "We are sort of like in those early stages where I'm just recording different guitar ideas and I turn Myles on to it. He's thinking about his stuff and what he's going to do with it and so on."

Wacken Open Air was first held in 1990 as a small event for local German bands. By 1998 the event had become the major festival on the European metal calendar and has included over 70 bands from all over Europe, North America and Australia.

Wacken Open Air is usually held at the beginning of August and lasts three days, during which the festival-goers camp on several large camping grounds surrounding the actual festival area. The 70 or more bands perform across four separate stages over the course of the event.

Wacken Open Air, which celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009, was honored with a Live Entertainment Award in 2008 in the "Festival Of The Year" category. This award recognizes distinguished achievements in live entertainment and is given out by Live Entertainment Award (LEA) committee.

Addie Rox of Tampa Bay's Mayhem Magazine recently conducted an interview with new QUEENSRŸCHE singer Todd La Torre. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Mayhem Magazine: A lot of your influence comes from Geoff Tate. What kind of influence do you think your particular sound will have? How will it be the same or differ from original QUEENSRŸCHE material?

Todd: A lot of the little crying inflections, or when you enter a phrase… Michael Sweet [STRYPER] does it a lot too. You know, he [Tate] has a cleaner voice than I have. Even from my early teens, I've had a little bit of a raspier voice, but I can mimic… I don't like to say the word "mimic," but I need to in order to properly do the songs the way they need to be done. So, I mean, I struggle a little bit with staying clean, because I'm used to doing a lot of the higher, more metal, edgier-type music. His is not so aggressive, and in the music I sing with CRIMSON GLORY, it's heavier and vocals are dirtier and grittier. So as far as how would my sound, or the new stuff sound, I think it will sound edgier, and I have a tendency of wanting to do the [Rob] Halford style metal screaming where I think that they're [fellow QUEENSRŸCHE members] wanting to tone that down; maybe they think it's a little dated. But there are times that I want to show the power and the metal side of it. QUEENSRŸCHE is metal, but I think I'll lend a different texture.

Mayhem Magazine: How do you feel about "replacing" one of your idols, Geoff Tate. Is it bittersweet?

Todd: Well… the term that you are using is very delicate. To say the word "replacing," some would arguably say he is irreplaceable. I am, in fact, filling those shoes, that role, so it's probably a fair term, although a lot of people, for political correctness, try to not use this. To be politically correct, or for professional courtesy, I feel people are afraid to use that word because it will garnish criticism, but the fact of the matter is, that is what it is. To be compared, to even be in the same breath as somebody who is probably the biggest influence, vocally, within the genre is surreal, but I feel like I've already been down this road with CRIMSON GLORY because Midnight was a very highly revered singer and I've been kind of held to the fire on that. I'm not worried about the naysayers who are, like, "Fuck this guy! QUEENSRŸCHE will never be QUEENSRŸCHE without Geoff Tate." I respect that, I understand that. I'm a fan, too, so I won't criticize someone for that opinion, but at the same time, and I don't know this from the members, but it's fairly evident that Tate is moving in a different direction. The [recent QUEENSRŸCHE] music appears, from an outsider looking in, that it is not what the fans are really wanting, in my opinion. And so, maybe the fans expect the band to not do something, but it's like, if I sound too much like him, I'm being labeled as a clone, but if I sound nothing like him, then they say, "This guy sounds nothing like what it should sound like!" So I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. So I just say, I do the best that I can. Yes, my phrasing is very similar to him; it's going to be. If I was a guitar player that just grew up on Yngwie [Malmsteen] and Paul Gilbert or Michael Angelo, it's going to be reflected in that playing. If you play like Steve Vai, they are going to be on your sleeve.

Mayhem Magazine: Have you had any formal vocal training?

Todd: I've never had any formal training or taken a single lesson — not one. It was actually right before my debut show with CRIMSON GLORY in Marietta, Georgia that I was able to find a very well-respected vocal coach in the area and I really wanted more of an evaluation. I was told from him, "Do you know how many people that come to me and sing like you do? Hardly any, very few. Whatever you have done to teach yourself, don't stop." I try to find my own way to sing any QUEENSRŸCHE song and not strain my throat, but make it sound effortless. There's always room for improvement.

Mayhem Magazine: Do you feel like you are having to win over the QUEENSRŸCHE fans?

Todd: The difference for me is, I don't have the history, because it's not my voice on those records. It's not my voice they fell in love with. It's hard; it really makes it harder. Luckily, the CRIMSON fans accepted me the way that they did and I think it's because I've proven that I am a better singer live than Midnight was. I don't like saying it, but it's true — even the band says it. I don't have his range; I can't sing so super high. I can hit some high stuff, but it's not what makes a great singer; it's pretty overrated. It's cool. Not a lot of people can do it great, but it's still a bit overrated. Emotion is where it's at. Not that I should care too much what people think to the point that it consumes me, but if I make the band happy and proud, I can't ask for anything more. I'm human; these are my vocal cords. People expect too much. Even out of Geoff Tate, they expect too much. "Oh he doesn't have the range." Dude, the guy's voice, in my opinion, is still fucking awesome. The problem is when you build your sound around a range that he's known for, and then you don't deliver like the record. I mean, come on — it's a record. Those lines are done a million times and they take the best takes and they put it together. The record is forever, right? Well, live, very few sound like the record and let's face it, QUEENSRŸCHE is some of the hardest material in the world to sing.

Mayhem Magazine: How different is the singing from your CRIMSON GLORY songs?

Todd: Well, the CRIMSON GLORY songs, Midnight had a scratchier voice. You don't hear any scratch on any Geoff Tate's stuff. You're going to hear it, to some degree, with my voice. Even on the live stuff, that's just how I sing. I think the range on CRIMSON is much higher — I know it is — but trying to be able to sing clean is challenging, but I can do it fairly well. Lots of factors are involved, too, like climate, travel, fatigue, rest, minimizing talking, etc. Our voice is our instrument.
Legendary rocker Sammy Hagar (CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN, MONTROSE) will guest on the History channel's hit TV show "American Restoration" on September 26 airing at 9:30 p.m. PST and 8:30 p.m. CST. You won't believe what they restore/create for Sammy and the new rum!

"American Restoration" features Rick Dale and his crew of loose screws at Rick's Restorations in Las Vegas, Nevada, as they take rusty, beat-up items and restore them to their original glory. Whether it's a giant gas pump from the 1940s or a Hopalong Cassidy bicycle from the 1950s, every restoration is a high-stakes business project where worthless Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, a silver rum made from Hawaii-grown sugar cane, is the result of partnership between Hagar and Haliimaile Distilling Company on Maui.

Sammy's Beach Bar Rum is distilled in Maui from first-growth, first-press sugar cane.

According to a press release, "Unlike other premium rums, which follow a standard one-year maturation period for the cane, (cane used in) Sammy's Beach Bar Rum matures for a full two years, giving the sugar from the cane its intense character."

Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen visited Britain's iconic Houses of Parliament in London on Thursday (September 20) to offer his patronage to "Rock The House", the parliamentary live music competition founded by Mike Weatherley, a British Conservative Party Member of Parliament (MP), which supports the U.K. live music industry and promotes the importance of intellectual-property rights.

"People like myself are very lucky in having already established a loyal fanbase," Yngwie said, according to Classic Rock magazine. "If I put out a new record, my fans will know about it and buy it. But the younger musicians of newer generations, their future doesn't look too good. Everyone seems to have a CD out or YouTube videos, you know? Back in the '80s, if you had a record out, you were hot shit!"

Yngwie also vented on the issue of illegal music downloading and many music fans' seeming disregard for intellectual-property rights.

"Copyright is everything to a musician," he said. "Just like inventions, the music you write is like your own child. If it gets sold to people, you should be rewarded. No one should be able to take it from you."

He continued, "You don't go around stealing cars! The rules should apply to music, film, books, etc. Anything that can be distributed should be accounted for. Something has to be done. The machine is broken."

The "Rock The House" competition is backed by Ministers, cross-party MPs, industry professionals and bodies — and rock stars, including Alice Cooper, DEEP PURPLE's Ian Gillan, BEE GEES' Robin Gibb, BLINK 182's Mark Hoppus, WHITESNAKE's Bernie Marsden, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE's Matt Tuck, ANTHRAX's Rob Caggiano, BUSTED and FIGHTSTAR's Charlie Simpson, GALLOWS' Laurent Bernard, DON BROCO's Rob Damiani and YES' Rick Wakeman, who are all official Patrons.

Since the altercation between Glenn Danzig and NORTH SIDE KINGS singer and frequent SOULFLY collaborator Danny Marianino in 2004, Danny has been collecting and saving a slew of hate mail, derogatory posts on blogs and messages that are "so ridiculous it will blow your mind." Finally, some of the "best bullshit" following this event has been compiled into an amusing book detailing the circumstances that led to the confrontation. "Don't Ever Punch A Rock Star - A Collection Of Hate Mail & Other Crazy Rumors" profiles "a regular guy's journey in music and learning to shrug off one of the most opinionated events in music history,"

Dan Stone, the then-28-year-old videographer who filmed the incident, told Decibel magazine that he did not intend for the video he captured of Marianino and Danzig's altercation to be uploaded to YouTube and get viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

According to Stone, he was present backstage on July 3, 2004 in Tuba City, Arizona where NORTH SIDE KINGS were to play with DANZIG. He was at the venue the entire time, shooting off-the-cuff footage for a planned DVD. At the tail end of DANZIG's set, Stone began to set up his video camera and prepare to shoot NORTH SIDE KINGS' subsequent performance. When the house lights came on and fans started exiting the venue, Stone quickly packed up his gear and went backstage to find out what was going on.

"When I got there, I saw Danzig signing an autograph and Danny waiting to talk to him," Stone told Decibel. "The two of them started talking, and things got a little heated, so I figured, 'Let's see where this goes.' I had no idea of what was about to happen, mind you. I just imagined I'd get some footage of Glenn Danzig and Danny talking — two guys from Jersey yelling at each other. A push and a punch later, the scene turned into total chaos. I immediately turned my camera off and stashed it in my bag. I walked down this hallway toward the exit as nonchalantly as possible, and Danny was pinned to the wall by a security guard. As I passed by him, I whispered, 'I've got the whole thing.' At that point, there was absolutely no intention of doing anything with it — it was just a weird moment caught on video."

Over time, Stone's video achieved a sort of mythic status in metal circles, with some people suggesting "that we planned the whole thing ahead of time," he told Decibel. "Danzig even accused me of doctoring the footage in an interview with Revolver in 2005 — he suggested that it was 'creatively edited.' Well, if you watch the video, it's clearly one continuous shot. The only post-production work done on the original video was where I added some titles to explain what was going on, like, 'That's not a blade in Danny's hand.' Ever since that, people have cut that part off and posted the raw footage to YouTube. There are no cuts in the raw video — that's everything."

Marianino told Decibel magazine that he did not particularly enjoy being known as the guy who knocked Glenn Danzig out, but he also came to embrace his part in an odd little chapter of rock 'n' roll history.

Asked how he might've reacted differently if he had a chance to revisit the experience, Marianino said, "I wouldn't have even acknowledged Danzig or tried to have that conversation with him, especially after he talked down to my guitar player's ex-wife. I regret that the situation happened at all. But I don't regret hitting him — he had it coming. He can tell every story he wants to tell, bu't it's an open book. I don't see what the big deal is. I think this would've went away for him if he had just admitted that he fucked with a big guy who got one over on him. It happens — everybody loses a fight. Even if he had just put his hand out and expressed that he was aware of the situation and he was sorry, the whole evening would've been totally different for him and for me. I don't plan to ever go to any show or event where Glenn Danzig is performing. If he's reading this: Don't worry about handing my picture out to every security guard with a note that says 'Eject him immediately.' I never want to see the guy again and I never will."

In a May 2012 interview with LA Weekly, Danzig was asked about the widely circulated video clip where Marianino confronted Glenn backstage because Danny's band didn't get to play at one of DANZIG's gigs before Glenn shoves him and ends up getting punched out by Marianino. To this day, there are those who are surprised that someone with Danzig's martial-arts training should have been so easily knocked down. "That was him trying to get me on camera punching him so he could sue me or some shit," Danzig said. "I forget what it was. When everyone was breaking it up, he coldcocked me. What are you going to do?" He added, "Those were his guys with the camera. No one knows that. Well, back then they did. It was a setup."

In the May 2011 issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine, Glenn stated about the incident, "I allowed it to happen. Why? Because there are always those looking to goad you into hitting them so they can sue you. It happens to public figures all the time. It's a way of life."

Speaking to Spin magazine in 2007, Danzig elaborated on his reasons for avoiding a full-on physical altercation with Marianinho. "No one asks, 'Why did you push him instead of nailing him right in the face?' 'Cause there's a camera rolling!" he said. 'I have so many friends who've lost tons of money from that setup, punching people and getting sued. One of my guys a long time ago worked for GUNS N' ROSES and he told me, 'You're lucky you've never been sued.' He said Duff McKagan would go into these clubs, and a guy would have a friend there with a camera: 'Hey, GUNS N' ROSES pussy!' [Strikes fist against palm, mimicking a punch] And they'd walk out. Next day, million-dollar lawsuit."

When asked about the incident in a 2006 interview with KNAC.COM, Danzig said, "I know they (the NORTH SIDE KINGS) milked it (the video) for all they could. But that was two years ago. I don't know how much good it ended up doing for them. Are they even still around? The only people who keep bringing it up are you people (music hacks). And, yes, I am sick of talking about it. But the people who have always liked me probably still like me, the people who hate me probably still hate me. It didn't change anything."

Guitarist Jason Rainey (pictured below) of veteran Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH is marrying his girlfriend Renee Novak today (Saturday, September 22) in Las Vegas, Nevada. He states, "Things are changing for me and my better half. We're putting it in writing and I couldn't be happier."

In a recent interview with MetalRecusants.com, SACRED REICH bassist/vocalist Phil Rind was asked why the band hasn't made a new studio album after reuniting for sporadic live shows six years ago. "Our lives are different now," he said. "I mean, it's funny… Our old drummer Dave's [McClain] in MACHINE HEAD and they're touring and doing great; they're very successful. And I said [to the other guys in SACRED REICH recently], I wouldn't even wanna [get back into a full recording and touring cycle]. I wouldn't wanna be gone from my family. I have four kids. As much as I like this, as much as I appreciate the fans, what's important — the family or playing live music? I mean, really?! What's important — being a dad to my kids? My kids need their dad more than the fans need a new SACRED REICH record. And that's really the bottom line. It's a choice. We have a choice to make. What do you wanna do? You have kids now. What are you gonna do — blow it off or are you gonna be their dad? The world will be a better place if I'm [my kids'] dad."

SACRED REICH launched its 25th-anniversary European tour in June.

The remastered edition of SACRED REICH's classic 1992 album "Independent" was released as a digipack and jewelbox on March 15, 2010 via Displeased Records. The first 2,500 copies contain a free SACRED REICH patch.

Displeased Records' reissue of SACRED REICH's classic album "The American Way" came out in February 2009. With upgraded layout, to-the-point remastering plus unreleased pre-production demo bonus tracks and a video clip, this new and improved CD reissue is an essential addition to every thrash metal collection.

"The American Way" was made available in a limited digipak version and standard jewel case version. The first 2,500 copies came with a free logo patch.

Former ARCH ENEMY guitarist Christopher Amott will debut his new band on Wednesday, October 3 at North Star Bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Backing him at the gig will be Matt Wicklund (GOD FORBID), Matt Bachand (SHADOWS FALL) and Van Williams (NEVERMORE, ASHES OF ARES). Also scheduled to appear are TUNGSTEN and SWEET EUREKA.

For more information, go to this location.

Amott has set "Impulses" as the title of his new solo album, tentatively due in late 2012/early 2013.

Amott in March issued a statement explaining that he left ARCH ENEMY to pursue his solo career. He said, "I'm gonna continue to be very active in music, working with all kinds of styles — this does not rule out metal."

ARCH ENEMY recruited 26-year-old American guitarist Nick Cordle (ARSIS) to replace Christopher.

Christopher Amott started his career in music in 1995 as a founding creative force and guitarist in ARCH ENEMY. In this context, he is known for his tastefully technical guitar work and memorably emotive playing style.

After garnering his early success, Christopher had the desire to express himself on a personal level in the same genre. At this time he began writing albums under the name ARMAGEDDON. Christopher wrote and recorded three albums over the next few years as ARCH ENEMY grew into an internationally recognized act, with his compositions featuring his own vocal stylings on the last album. This would be Christopher's first foray into singing and a spark of inspiration for his later musical ventures.

In 2008, Christopher began to consider his creative options as a mature musician. He began writing songs of an entirely different atmosphere, which saw his guitar playing focused less on technical ecstasy and more on a chord-based blues rock ambience as a foundation for more prominent vocal and lyrical ideas. These compositions developed into his next solo project; the album would be called "Follow Your Heart", released under his own name in 2010.

In a recent interview Artisan News, SLIPKNOT co-founder, conceptualist and percussionist Shawn M. Crahan (a.k.a. Clown) confirmed that late SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray's songwriting contributions will be heard on the band's next album.

"There are songs that he's written that will be a part of the next record," Crahan said in the video interview posted below. "We're all going to have to think like him, and he'll be there. He'll be there; there's no way [that] Paul Gray [will not be] a part of anything that we do for the rest of our career."

A Des Moines, Iowa doctor was charged on September 5 with involuntary manslaughter because he allegedly over-prescribed painkillers to eight of his patients — one of whom was Gray, who died of a drug overdose in May 2010.

Gray was found dead at the age of 38 in a hotel room outside Des Moines, surrounded by drug paraphernalia. His death was ruled an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl, with his autopsy showing that Gray also suffered from significant heart disease.

Gray's widow, Brenna, revealed in an April 2011 interview with Revolver that her husband had agreed to get help for his drug problem just one day before he died on May 24, 2010.

After a lengthy hiatus, SLIPKNOT resumed touring last year, with Donnie Steele playing bass live. The band intends to enter a recording studio sometime in 2013 to begin work on its first album without Gray.

Roxx Records has announced the signing of Italian thrashers BOARDERS. The band's sophomore album, "R- Existence", will be released as a limited-edition CD and digital download on December 11.

While BOARDERS had briefly offered "R- Existence" as a free digital-only download to their fanbase, it is now being remastered to include five additional bonus tracks (three brand new songs and two previously unreleased demos) and be made available CD for the very first time.

A band that can trace its history back to the late eighties, BOARDERS presents a unique melding of the aggressive thrash and melodic metal that draws extensively from the musical trends of that era. And nowhere is that more evident than on the material from the group's debut, "The World Hates Me", which came out in 2009.

"R-Existence" marks a return to form of that melding of thrash and metal, with songs certain to garner the attention of those into MEGADETH, METALLICA and old-school DELIVERANCE. As a matter of fact, BOARDERS once gained notoriety in Italy as a MEGADETH tribute band; hence, the inclusion of the old MEGADETH song "In My Darkest Hour" on their debut release.

Bill Bafford of Roxx Records had this to say about the signing: "We are very excited to be working with BOARDERS on this release. We have been becoming more and more focused on the thrash scene as the label expands and BOARDERS is an excellent addition to our roster."

According to TMZ.com, SCORPIONS drummer James Kottak and his ex-wife are involved in a bitter custody dispute over their teenage son.

Kottak filed legal documents this month asking the court to change a decision that was made in July that awarded Athena LeeMÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee's sister — primary custody of their 15-year-old son and ordered him to pay more than $3,000 a month in child and spousal support.

In his request to modify an existing child custody order, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Kottak claims their son has been living with him since January of this year after the teenager had a falling out with his mother. Kottak also says Athena has been through several rehab stints for alcohol addiction.

The musician — who was married to Athena from 1996 to 2010 — says he should be granted primary physical custody, with Athena getting visitation rights. He also wants the court to reduce his child support payments.

Kottak, who joined the SCORPIONS in 1996, lists his income at $12,000 month but indicates that this could change because his contract with the band has yet to be renewed.

For her part, Athena — an acclaimed drummer in her own right who was a member of Kottak's band KOTTAK (formerly KRUNK) for a number of years — claims that she's been sober since January 13, 2012 and is allowing her son to live with Kottak so he can stay in his school district.

"He's trying everything he can to knock me down," Athena says, adding, "It's only about the money to James."

The couple has three children; one girl, Tobi, and two boys, Miles and Matthew.

Athena, who is one of the stars of the new reality series "Ex-Wives Of Rock" on the Canadian network Slice, said in a promotional clip for the show, "Marrying a musician is not a bad idea — it's the worst idea ever." She also described her marriage to Kottak as "miserable."

In a brand new interview with DelmarvaNow.com, POISON frontman Bret Michaels was asked if the fact that classic hard-rock bands like VAN HALEN and KISS seem to be spending more time in the studio working on new material than in recent years means that fans can also expect a new POISON studio album in the not-too-distant future. "Never say never," Bret replied. "We have no concrete plans for a new album at the moment, but the POISON guys are like family to me." He added, "I've been out all summer with them on the 'Rock Of Ages' tour [with DEF LEPPARD] and you never know what can happen."

The last POISON album was 2007's covers set "Poison'd!", while the band's last collection of new, original music was 2002's "Hollyweird".

To celebrate POISON's 25th anniversary, 35 of the multi-platinum band's top hits and fan favorites were gathered for "Double Dose Of Poison: Ultimate Hits", a career-spanning 2CD and digital collection which was released in May 2011 by Capitol/EMI.

London LeGrand, formerly of BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION and SOULS OF WE, has joined PRETTY BOY FLOYD as the band's new lead singer.

According to PRETTY BOY FLOYD guitarist, and sole remaining original member, Kristy "Krash" Majors, the band is planning to record a new single and film an accompanying video.

PRETTY BOY FLOYD's live show will include both "PRETTY BOY FLOYD and BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION gems," says Majors.

LeGrand joins PRETTY BOY FLOYD as the replacement for Steve "Sex" Summers, who is reportedly planning to release a solo album in 2013.

PRETTY BOY FLOYD took part in the "America Rocks" tour package earlier this summer alongside JACK RUSSELL'S GREAT WHITE, FASTER PUSSYCAT, BULLETBOYS and LILLIAN AXE.

According to Blu-Ray.com, Kino Lorber has set a December 18 North American release date for the DVD version of the documentary film "Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet".

The world premiere of "Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet", took place on March 3 at the Cinequest film festival in San Jose, California at the San Jose Repertory Theatre.

"Not Dead Yet" won two awards at at the Cinequest: Audience Award for Best Documentary and the Special Jury Prize for Documentary.

Jason Becker, a onetime guitar prodigy first known as part of the metal duo CACOPHONY, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, aka Lou Gehrig's Disease) at age 20, shortly after joining David Lee Roth's band for the gold-selling 1991 album "A Little Ain't Enough". Although the disease robbed him of his ability to play guitar — and eventually left him both paralyzed and unable to speak — Becker continues to compose music with the help of computers, collaborators, and a system of communication using eye movements that was devised by his father Gary.

Even after his once prodigious axe skills left him, Jason's music continued to earn the respect of his peers. Joe Satriani called 2001's "Perspectives"Jason's first recorded work after losing his motor functions (originally self-released in 1996) — "a triumphantly powerful and beautiful album." Fellow virtuosos joined the chorus of praise, including Steve Vai, who said, "Jason has discovered a brilliant source of inspiration within himself. His deep soul searching has resulted in a body of music that reveals courage and insight and is deeply moving."

Jason's original partner in CACOPHONY, Marty Friedman added, "To call Jason a genius is an understatement. He doesn't cater to trend, target audiences, marketing gimmicks or anything like that. He plays out the emotions from his heart and makes real music that is a salute to the human spirit. Jason is a prodigy and on 'Perspectives' he realizes his miraculous potential."

Jason's most recent album, 2008's "Collection", is a mix of old recordings and new compositions, with guest guitar work from Satriani, Vai, Friedman, Michael Lee Firkins, and Greg Howe.

Brooklyn, New York-based progressive/experimental instrumental metal band BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS will release its second full-length album, "Horrorscension", on October 23 via Black Market Activities. The CD marks the recording debut of the group's drummer, Weasel Walter, a multi-instrumentalist renowned for his work under the name THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS and his widespread collaborations across the free jazz, noise, and metal genres. Walter joins founding members Colin Marston (12-string Warr guitar) and Mike Lerner (guitar). Marston is also a member of KRALLICE, GORGUTS and DYSRHYTHMIA, as well as an acclaimed recording engineer whose recent credits include KAYO DOT, JARBOE and ALTAR OF PLAGUES.

"Horrorscension" showcases BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS' signature method of songcraft: all songs are composed in written form before ever being played. Despite its jaw-dropping complexity, the music is delivered with a raw, visceral attack — something closer to punk than to the antiseptic sound of music-school perfectionism all too common amongst younger technical bands. Marston stated, "I would love it if, when people hear 'Horrorscension', they think 'Whoa, what the hell is going on?' rather than 'Wow, they can play their instruments well.'"

"Horrorscension" was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Marston at his The Thousand Caves studio in Queens, New York. The cover art is by longtime collaborator Terry Grow.

Southern California hardcore band STRIFE filmed a video earlier today (Sunday, September 23) for an as-yet-unspecified track off its forthcoming album, "Witness A Rebirth". The CD will be released in October via 6131 Records.

Some bands leave such an impression on fans that, even after two decades, their sound still resonates deep and wide. STRIFE is just such a band, having once again tapped into the energy that has kept listeners interested for 21 years.

After touring throughout the world in recent years, STRIFE decided it was time to unleash a new batch of songs and break their 11-year streak of recording silence. The groundwork for what would become their newest album, "Witness A Rebirth", had been laid and their collective efforts began down the road to realization.

With producer Nick Jett (TERROR, ROTTING OUT, BACKTRACK) at the helm, STRIFE recruited friend and previous collaborator Igor Cavalera (founding member of SEPULTURA) to perform drums for the album and traveled to Brazil to start the recording process with him. Soon after, they returned to California and put the rest of the pieces into place, including guest vocals by Billy Graziadei (of BIOHAZARD) and Scott Vogel (of TERROR), plus a guitar solo by Marc Rizzo (of SOULFLY). The result serves as a testament to their talent, bridging their past (especially the highly acclaimed album "In This Defiance", with which this album shares four-fifths of the members) with a more contemporary hardcore sound. "Witness A Rebirth" is at once both refreshing and evocative.

FRAGMENTS OF UNBECOMING in 2009 announced the addition of bassist Christopher Körtgen (SMILODON, CHAOS HD) to the group's ranks.

T-Mobile-Music.pl conducted an interview with former HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST and current TRIPTYKON singer, guitarist, and main songwriter Tom Gabriel Warrior after TRIPTYKON's June 1, 2012 performance at Metalfest at Zalew Sosina in Jaworzno, Poland. You can now watch the chat below.

On TRIPTYKON's forthcoming DVD:

Tom: "It's a very ambitious project. It's not just a live DVD, it's a concert film. It's also an expensive project and we're working on it. It's definitely a plan that we wanna realize, but I can't give you a definite release date yet. But we are working on it — very definitely — and eventually it's gonna happen. And there's also a second DVD in the planning.

"There's a million projects, but sometimes you have to be a little patient.

"I don't like to do quick things; I like to do things right and to do them appropriately. To me, what counts is not the speed, what counts is the quality of the product, and sometimes quality takes a little more work."

On TRIPTYKON's current lineup:

Tom: "Right now we are so happy to be in this lineup; this lineup has already worked together for almost four years. So we all hope that it's gonna stay like this. We are four very different people — we have different ages, different lives. Hopefully, we will develop together, so we can stay together for a long time; we all want that. But, you know, life is unpredictable. But I can tell you: yes, we love playing in this band and in this lineup — very much so. All four of us are very close friends."

On being considered an extreme-metal "icon":

Tom: "I'm a human being. I mean, what's different about me? That's a huge word, and [people] put that on me all the time. But I come from a very simple background. I grew up extremely poorly, I was abused, I had to fight violence. I had no connections, no friends or whatever.

"HELLHAMMER was formed in a tiny little village with nothing — no talent, no contacts, no money, no nothing. And I remember that very, very well — every day. So I don't see what should make me an icon. I've just been very lucky to create music and that people listen to my music. And if anything, it's the people out there, the audience like today, that makes a band an icon, but certainly not the musicians. You can play all the music that you want, if nobody listens to it… It's the fans, it's the audience that makes a band big, or makes a band special.

"I hate when musicians walk around — and there's one or two bands on this festival, too, that I know personally — I hate when it gets to their heads and they think they're geniuses or whatever, because it's not true. It's the people out there — they give you the platform, they are open, they give you the chance, they listen to your music, they create what you are, not the musicians. I'm a human being; I'm a metal fan like you. What makes me different? We both are passionate for this music. That's really all there is to it."

TRIPTYKON consists of V. Santura (guitar, vocals), Norman Lonhard (drums, percussion), Vanja Slajh (bass), and Tom Gabriel Fischer (voice, guitars). The group has unambiguously stated that it pursues the continuation and further development of the path Warrior began in HELLHAMMER and CELTIC FROST.

Hells Headbangers has announced the release of a new DENOUNCEMENT PYRE seven-inch EP titled "Darkness Manifest" in the lead-up to the Australian black/death metal band's forthcoming second album, "Almighty Arcanum". This EP will act as a preview of what is to come with the next full-length and will feature one album track plus an additional song that is exclusive to this release. Both cuts were recorded during different sessions to those for the album, so they are unique to this release and will be released in a limited pressing that will be available soon.

Commented DENOUNCEMENT PYRE: "'Darkness Manifest' should be considered as more of a pathway to, rather than a direct preview of, what can be expected with the next full-length. The title track ['Darkness Manifest'] has been re-recorded during the album recording sessions, so we offer it here as a raw and unhinged version that will provide some insight into the newer material and the direction we are heading. Meanwhile, the B-side ['Eleven Gates'] is the most obscure track that we have ever recorded with DENOUNCEMENT PYRE and one we felt worthy of inclusion for this release. Before we plunge with full force into the 'Almighty Arcanum', we must set the tone with 'Darkness Manifest'. Beware the shadows…more to be revealed soon!"

The recording sessions for "Almighty Arcanum" are now complete and the tracks were recently mastered at Endarker Studios in Sweden. The follow-up to 2010's "World Cremation" is scheduled for release on CD and LP in January 2013, again through Hells Headbangers.
