Following the departure of lead singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Vinny
Appice after the studio mixing of the "Live Evil" album, BLACK
SABBATH were once again on the lookout for yet another lead vocalist to
fill the significant void left at stage front. The band turned to ex-DEEP
PURPLE lead singer Ian Gillan.
The resultant album and live touring certainly made for one of the more curious
associations in the world of heavy metal. Much of this era ofBLACK SABBATH has passed into rock folklore and was actually the source for much of the
material used in the rockumentary movie "This Is Spinal Tap".
From the replica stage production of Stonehenge,
which was too large for some of the venues on the world tour, to the employment
of a dwarf to dress up and play the part of the "devil-baby" from the
LP front cover, the world of BLACK SABBATH took on a distinct air of the
surreal.
While the well-received "Born Again" album and live dates
succeeded in stoking the embers and kept the SABBATH flames burning,
this would ultimately be a marriage built more on friendship and respect as
opposed to any long-standing and compatible musical association. After one
tour, Ian Gillan would eventually bid farewell and re-join his old
sparring partners for the Mk. II reunion of DEEP PURPLE and leave BLACK
SABBATH once more gazing into the crystal ball hoping the face of yet
another lead vocalist would reveal itself.
For Iommi, Butler, Ward, Gillan, and keyboardist Geoff Nicholls, work would
swiftly commence in May of '83 at the Manor Studios in the village of
Shiptonon-Cherwell, Oxfordshire. Produced by BLACK SABBATH and
co-producer Robin Black, who had also worked on 1975's "Sabotage",
1976's "Technical Ecstasy", and 1978's "Never Say
Die", SABBATH's eleventh studio release would represent a
radical departure from the gloomy atmospherics and blackened lyricism that had
forged their identity and spawned innumerable descendants.
Gillan's approach to songwriting bespoke a lighter-hearted approach to
what had, until then, been the primary concern of Butler. Album opener "Trashed",
for instance, was inspired by Gillan's boozed-up race around the Manor's
grounds in Bill Ward's car that ended in near-catastrophe and a wrecked
vehicle. "Disturbing The Priest" was the result of a door in
the studio having been left open during playback, and a local vicar appearing
in the doorway asking for the volume to be turned down as it was disturbing
choir practice in the adjacent village.
For all of its off-kilter appearance however, "Born Again" was
still SABBATH through and through. Musically twisted and possessed with
more than a whiff of brimstone, the album is a thrilling glimpse into an
alternative world.
Exhibit A Gallery founder/artist Richard Villa III and legendary skateboarder Tony Alva announced today the "Obey Your
Master" art exhibit. "Obey Your Master" will feature
a collection of artists from the worlds of art, fashion, film, music and
skateboarding coming together to pay tribute to the legendary heavy metal band METALLICA.
For the exhibit, the artists have all chosen a song by the heroes of metal, and
will execute their vision in their individual artistic mediums, based on their
interpersonal relationship to METALLICA's lyrics and music. The final
art pieces will represent each chosen song, and will be revealed on January 20,
2012 at Exhibit A Gallery to a private reception, with all of the
artists and METALLICA in attendance. The pieces will be available for
purchase starting that evening, through March 23, 2012.
Rock music has always inspired fans and creative types alike, empowering and
influencing them personally, sonically and artistically. Some examples of the
influence of METALLICA's music on artists are with Obey Giant's
renowned street artist Shepard Fairey and his politically driven
propaganda art. One could make the connection between Fairey's art and
an album like METALLICA's "...And Justice For All".
Starting in the early 1980s, iconic skateboarder Steve Caballero during
skate competitions would correlate his music with his aggressive skate style
and would insist to organizers to turn up the volume and blast songs off METALLICA's "Kill Em' All" album. Contemporary metal band BLACK VEIL
BRIDES' 20-year-old frontman Andy Biersack grew up listening to
heavy metal music. One of his most fond memories of early adolescence was
sitting in his living room with his childhood friend watching METALLICA VHS tapes. They would thrash along, singing every lyric and banging their heads
until their necks felt as if they had been in a car crash. He states, "As
I got older and began to write my own songs, the tone and style of James'
[Hetfield] lyrics and singing became a huge influence to me. The use of
religious and cult metaphors and tenacity with which he sang was something I
aspired to, and to this day continue to be inspired by. METALLICA to me
is the quintessential heavy metal band. Equal parts darkness, intellect and
vitriol."
There have been millions more who have drawn influence from metal music,
specifically from METALLICA. Many of these artists are from all walks of
life and they are now leaving their own indelible marks on the world and are
driven in part by the intellectual rebellious lyrics of METALLICA. Most
of these creative fans have never had the opportunity to do any art related to
the band... until now!

extraordinaire Mike Portnoy; gear tours from guitarist John Petrucci and keyboardist Jordan Rudess (fascinating for lay people and downright
revelatory for musicians); and a half-hour documentary on DREAM THEATER's
2004 stint in Japan punctuated by tantalizing snippets of band rehearsals. The
shooting and editing for the concert are a music lover's dream, with lengthy
shots that linger on the performances of individual band members. Disc 2 takes

Eagle Vision will release GARY MOORE's "Live
At Montreux 2010" on September 20 on DVD, Blu-ray and CD.
Product description: "2010 saw Gary Moore make a return to rock
music after a long period of time exploring the blues. He was writing and
working on a new rock album when all was brought to a halt by his untimely
death on February 6, 2011.
"This concert from Montreux in July 2010 was his last performance to be
filmed. The setlist draws heavily on his hugely successful rock albums of the
Eighties, stirs in a couple of his classic blues tracks with some memorable hit
singles and includes three brand new songs that would have featured on the
album left sadly uncompleted on his death.
"Gary Moore was one of the finest and most respected guitarists the
British Isles have ever produced. This concert
shows just what a talent we will miss."

According to The Pulse Of Radio, ALICE IN CHAINS ended a nearly 10-month break from the stage on August 13 with a sold-out,
semi-acoustic show at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
The show — one of just two that ALICE IN CHAINS performed this month —
featured a rendition of "Right Turn", a track from the 1992 EP "Sap" that has not only never been played live by this version
of the group, but may not have been performed in concert before ever. The
original studio version featured guest vocals from SOUNDGARDEN's Chris
Cornell.
The show's finale featured guitarist Jerry Cantrell's father and a
number of fans pulled onstage to sit on two couches and watch the band play "Rooster",
a song written about the elder Cantrell's experiences in the Vietnam
war.
ALICE IN CHAINS was also scheduled to play this past Saturday (August
20) in Winnipeg, Canada.
The band has been laying low and reportedly working on a new record since
completing the touring cycle behind 2009's "Black Gives Way To Blue".
"Black Gives Way
To Blue" was the first all-new ALICE IN CHAINS record in 14
years and Cantrell told The Pulse Of Radio at the time that it
represented a rebirth for the group. "You know, the possibilities are
limitless," he said. "The cool thing is, this band is alive, and
we're alive. And we've had an amazing life. And we've lost some people along
the way, and we've had to change, and we've had to dig within ourselves to
answer some very serious questions about life. It's been a real meaningful
journey, and we're really dedicated to going through the process, you know, and
seeing what life has to offer."
ALICE IN CHAINS went into hibernation in 1996, mostly due to vocalist Layne
Staley's long struggle with drug addiction.
Staley died in April 2002 and the band appeared to have died with him.
But the group returned in 2006 with singer/guitarist William DuVall introduced into the lineup.
The group did several tours through 2008 before finally committing itself to
writing and recording "Black Gives Way To Blue".
Harmon Caldwell of Edguy.net recently
conducted an interview with vocalist Tobias Sammet of German melodic
metallers EDGUY. The question-and-answer session follows below.
Q: Tobias, let's talk about song writing process for the new
album "Age Of The Joker". How do you manage to jump out of AVANTASIA,
a project that is mostly conceptual from start to finish, and directly into
writing new EDGUY songs?
Tobias: After I had finished my last AVANTASIA studio venture, it
was obvious to me that this was as good as it gets in my world of music. After
such an undertaking, you are burned out, because you feel you have said
everything. But after a while there is always an instinctive urge to compose
new material. Not because I wanna compete with my past, but simply to be
creative and have a good time coming up with great melodies in my little
magical world at home. I do not think of the past or a certain goal when
composing, and as much as fans would want it, I do not think of them either. I
just wanna have a great time creating music, be it with EDGUY or AVANTASIA.
The creative process is similar for both projects, only with AVANTASIA I
have to be aware that it fits to a whole concept and the different singers
involved. Also, with AVANTASIA, I do not have to care what four other
people say; in EDGUY there are discussions at times.
Q: In a certain way the cover art for the new album could remind one of
the "Mandrake" cover or other elements from EDGUY's
past. How does the joker play into the theme for the new album, and where did
the new cover idea come from?
Tobias: The jester has always been our trademark, not because he wants
to be funny, but because he has the ultimate freedom to say anything he wants
and he gets away with it. We have said anything you must not say, we have worn
anything you must not wear, we have done anything you must not do according to
the great book of rules in heavy metal. Yet we have ploughed our way to well
over two million discs sold and played to thousands of fans in 40 countries
around the globe. That's not a bad start for a band that's never been taken
seriously by the majority of the press. We have always been true to ourselves,
even if record-label people may have freaked out over certain decisions we've
made. If you take yourself too seriously, you may end up with a heart attack in
this crazy metal business. That's why we have always kept a tongue-in-cheek
attitude. We are allowed to go where no other band goes, and our fans know
pretty well what and why we're doing this.
Q: It's now been three years since the release of EDGUY's last
album, "Tinnitus Sanctus". Surprisingly, the album seemed to
receive mixed reviews from both fans and critics. When writing a new album ("Age
Of The Joker"), what do you take away from past reactions? Is there
ever the temptation to let those opinions affect your songwriting or at this
point in your career do you simply do exactly what you want to do?
Tobias: No! Because what do other people know? There is only one target
when writing a new album: I wanna enjoy the working process and create music
that excites me! The fact that certain magazines bash whatever we do is no big
news; we know what they'll write even before we enter the studio. As a matter
of fact, we don't fit in their scheme, but down the line it really doesn't
matter what some desk or Internet hero writes. "Age Of The Joker" seemingly has all our trademarks and is considered a back-to-the-roots album by
some press guys, which theoretically could be a proof that we have our own
signature sound which makes us proud, but nothing was forced. I also love "Tinnitus
Sanctus"; it is a great album, my favorite EDGUY album to date.
It's sad some people didn't understand it and I respect that. But this is not
proof for inferior quality. What counts is that "Age Of The Joker" is a great album, you know that, the EDGUYs know that, our producer Sascha
Paeth knows that, and our fans will find out shortly. The rest of the world
can kiss my ass!
Q: One immediate difference between the two albums is the style of the
first single song chosen. Whereas "Ministry Of Saints" had a heaver,
grittier, and darker edge, the new single and video, "Robin Hood" seems to harken back to the more carefree EDGUY attitude from past
albums. What was the motivation for choosing "Robin Hood" as
the first single from "Age Of The Joker"?
Tobias: We had this great song, a serious song featuring some
tongue-in-cheek moments and hilarious lyrics, and although it's a lengthy
track, the label thought it would be great to have a video clip. So who am I to
get in the way of such an opportunity, running through the forest and playing Robin
Hood with your friends, and having someone else pay for it? So we edited
the song down to five minutes for a single version which kind of sucks, because
now the song structure is shit, but it was the only way of making it a
reasonable single and do the video.
Q: So let's talk about Robin Hood for a moment. What was your
motivation for writing a song about this particular figure?
Tobias: Attila the Hun, Odin, the sons of Odin, Cinderella, Humpty Dumpty... I can hardly think of a more or less historically
relevant swashbuckler who hasn't been the main topic in a song, sung by heavy
metal men in furry loin cloths. Except for Robin Hood, maybe the story
of Robin Hood is too complex, haha! I just thought it is so
over-the-top, it embraces everything that rock and metal are all about. It's
more SPINAL TAP than SPINAL TAP ever were. Now, every child knows
the tale of Robin Hood, everybody's seen the Errol Flynn movie.
It's an enchanting topic, and still I think that there is too much
romanticizing about him. Why? At the end of the day Robin Hood wants all
people to be equal, while he wants to remain their leader, he steals from the
business class and gives it to the lazy ones in coach. And he hides in the
bushes to attack sharp dressed doers in the fast lane of the main road, just
like those people on online message boards, that attack us, hiding their
identity behind nick names. To me, Robin Hood doesn't seem like a
spokesman of moral values, I see him more as a medieval-forest version of Erich
Honecker!
Q: Early reviews from the press are already calling "Age Of The
Joker" one of the best EDGUY albums ever. What would you
attribute that to and do you think it's simply the high level of songwriting
present on the new record?
Tobias: You always give your best and as I said I especially love "Rocket
Ride" and "Tinnitus Sanctus". A lot of people say
we've gone back to the roots with Age Of The Joker", and I scratch
my head and go: "What?!" I think the songwriting on our new album is
superb, the performances are great, we have the best guitars that we've ever
had. I think many of the melodies are outstanding, but we didn't change
anything on purpose, except maybe for the sound. We wanted to have a dynamic,
old-school sound, but musically, we just let it happen. Our record label just
sent me some press quotes saying, that this is the best album since "Mandrake".
Well, if they say so, then we gotta believe it, it's the press. I'd just call
it the best album since the invention of electricity and nothing else!
Q: Are there any songs that stand out to you as being the best from the
album?
Tobias: I love "Pandora's Box", but if you'd ask me
tomorrow I might mention a different song. It's a very balanced album, and I
think all the songs have very strong moments. But at this moment I truly love "Pandora's
Box". At first listen it may seem to be a softer song, but it's got
many powerful moments and it's so honest, it's fragile, angry, tongue-in-cheek,
anthemic, big and epic. It's EDGUY and AEROSMITH and all
different kinds of things melded together as one.
Q: And what about the upcoming "Age Of The Joker" European tour? It seems that the last few EDGUY tours have simply been
getting bigger and bigger. Do you have anything special planned for this time
out?
Tobias: Of course, we have a real crazy plan, but I can't tell you about
it at this point as our engineers are working on it and they have to find out
yet, if it's technically possible or not. But the tour will be big, we have
only announced the first leg of the tour, more dates will follow next year,
we'll visit the whole world. Now go and get the album, it's worth it.
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY will embark on a North American
headlining tour in October. Support on the trek will come from OTEP, EARTH
CRISIS and MOLD BREAKER (the new Arizona-based hardcore/thrash band

other than Max Cavalera [SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA])
supporting.

"Blunt Force Trauma", the sophomore album from CAVALERA
CONSPIRACY, sold around 5,000 copies in the United States in its first week
of release to land at position No. 122 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's
debut CD, "Inflikted", opened with 9,000 units to enter the
chart at No. 72.
"Blunt Force Trauma" was once again tracked with ex-MACHINE
HEAD/SOULFLY guitarist Logan Mader, who co-produced the LP
with Max. Logan also mixed the
follow-up to the band's debut album, "Inflikted", which has
sold less than 50,000 copies in the United States since its March 2008
release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The brothers Cavalera co-founded SEPULTURA, the Brazilian metal band
that redefined and established the genre outside of the U.S. and Europe.
After Max exited the band, there was a rift between himself and his
brother, one that was eventually repaired through the redemptive power of
music. Some time had passed and Max and Igor were unable to
resist the musical pull in their magnetic fields and their musical
collaboration was renewed. The duo are back for round two with CAVALERA
CONSPIRACY.
CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's lineup is filled out by guitarist Marc Rizzo,
who plays with Max in SOULFLY, and bassist Johnny Chow.

Guitarist / founding member / songwriter Craig Locicero of the Bay Area thrash band FORBIDDEN has issued the following update:
"This has been the week of all weeks for FORBIDDEN highs and lows. It
started with losing a drummer and cancelling an entire tour. Really low. But
there has been a few silver linings as well.
"First good thing is Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL, DEATH, STRAPPING
YOUNG LAD) had an opening in his schedule and is playing a one-off with us
at this weekend's Alcatraz Metal Festival in Belgium. Gene is our bro! Because
of him, we salvaged the European tour's biggest date.
"Then, the ProgPower festival in Atlanta, Georgia
inquired about September 17. Gene once again has an opening... so here
we come Atlanta!
We'll bring our thrash to both of these amazing festivals thanks to the Mighty
Atomic Clock coming through!
"As for our long-term drummer solution, well... some other fantastic
drummers with respected names have offered their sticks from all over the
world. Many of our awesome friends and peers alike have made it clear they
would lend us a hand or flat out want the gig! That is an honor beyond words
and we thank all of you. But there is simply no way to get everyone into a room
to jam and have it be practical. That would take weeks we don't have.
"We want the right player so we've decided to set up a YouTube channel specifically for the truest contenders. A place just for those serious
enough to show the band and the world your skills playing FORBIDDEN songs. Send a video of yourself bashing out 'Forsaken At The Gates', 'Infinite' and another FORBIDDEN song of your choice. We will look at all of the
videos objectively and decide who goes to the next level. At that next point,
chemistry becomes everything. First we need to get past first base before
sliding home.
"If you deserve to sit on the same throne as Paul Bostaph, Steve
Jacobs, Mark Hernandez, and Gene Hoglan, you'd better get
ready to bring it out in the open! As far as we're concerned, those are four of
the greatest drummers in thrash metal so give it your best shot! What are you
drummers waiting for? Let's see what you've got!"
Send a Dropbox, Fileblaze, or Mediablaze download link to:
forbiddendrummer2011@gmail.com.
By sending in your submission, you are granting your consent to having your
video file uploaded onto the FORBIDDEN "Drummer 2011" YouTube
channel and other social media sites for comments.
Make sure to include your name and contact information in your e-mail.
Fan-filmed video footage of FORBIDDEN's performance at this year's
edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival, which was held August
12-14, 2011 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, can be viewed below.
FORBIDDEN's latest album, "Omega Wave", was released in
Europe on October 22, 2010 and in North America on October 26, 2010 via Nuclear
Blast Records. The CD landed at position No. 27 on the Top New Artist
Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and
developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of
The Billboard 200.
Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH have
inked a new European deal with Nuclear Blast Records. The band's new
album, "Imaginarium", will be released in December. The U.S. version of
the CD will be made available through Roadrunner Records.
Commented NIGHTWISH keyboardist/mainman Tuomas Holopainen:
"We are very happy to continue working with the Nuclear Blast family! Our collaboration started on a friendship basis and continues to do so.
"I was utterly happy and relieved to see they truly understood what 'Imaginarium' is all about, and we seem to share similar profound enthusiasm towards it.
"I feel privileged working with such people who, despite the infinite maze
of business they must handle properly, still have a huge heart for music
itself. "
Added Andy Siry, head of A&R and label manager of Nuclear Blast:
"We are very happy that NIGHTWISH and Nuclear Blast Records can continue as a team.
"NIGHTWISH became the biggest success of our label and everyone in
the band, their management and crew also became trustful and close friends. For
us, it is a pleasure to work with such highly gifted musicians and a genius
like Tuomas Holopainen, as a songwriter and composer. We also thank King
Foo Entertainment [NIGHTWISH's management company] for their belief
and the great relationship between all of us.
"We are looking forward to the next releases with the band, starting with
the upcoming masterpiece, 'Imaginarium', which is another big step for
this visionary band, which is simply outstanding and brilliant."
NIGHTWISH recently spent time not only putting finishing touches to its
new album, "Imaginarium", but also planning a movie of the
same name. If all goes well, the film will arrive at some point in 2012.
NIGHTWISH will kick off the "Imaginarium" world tour in
Los Angeles.
The very first show of the trek will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California
on Saturday, January 21. This will be the biggest NIGHTWISH show production
ever on North American soil and strictly a one-off — there will be no U.S. tour until
later in 2012.

"Imaginarium", the long-awaited new album
from Finnish/Swedish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH, will be released
before the end of the year via Nuclear Blast Records in Europe and Roadrunner
Records in North America. A movie of the
same name is currently in production and is expected to arrive in 2012.
More information about the "Imaginarium" album, including the
CD's complete track listing and details of the first single, will be made
available in the coming weeks.
"Imaginarium" is one of the projects which recently received
grants from the Finnish government institution called the Finnish Film
Foundation. The movie, directed by Stobe Harju, about an old man on
his deathbed who glimpses a childhood dream in which he refuses to grow old,
and fights aging with his imagination, will get $575,000 toward its $3.7
million budget.
The Finnish Film Foundation grants support for professional Finnish film
production. The Foundation's goal is to promote high-quality, versatile
and unique Finnish film. The support can be granted for feature-length, short
and episodic fiction, documentary, animation and children's films.
The production support is granted for the writing of a film script, development
of a film project, the actual production of a film and for the marketing and distribution
of the film in Finland.
The Foundation also grants post-release support on the basis of a film's
total attendance.

Southern California's IN
THIS MOMENT has canceled its participation in the remaining shows on the The
All Stars Tour "due to reasons beyond [the band's] control."

Aug. 23 - Regency Ballroom - San Francisco, CA
Aug. 24 - Ace of Spades - Sacramento, CA
Aug. 26 - The Showbox - Seattle, WA
Aug. 27 - Roseland Theater - Portland, OR
The All Stars Tour kicked off in late July with a lineup that includes EMMURE, IWRESTLEDABEARONCE and BORN OF OSIRIS.
For more information, visit the tour's Facebook page.
IN THIS MOMENT is scheduled to enter the studio in January to begin
recording its next album for a spring release via Century Media Records.
The band's latest CD, "A Star-Crossed Wasteland", sold 10,500
copies in the United States
in its first week of release to debut at position No. 40 on The Billboard 200
chart.
IN THIS MOMENT's sophomore effort, "The Dream", opened
with more than 8,000 copies back in October 2008 to land at No. 70.
"A Star-Crossed Wasteland" was released on July 13, 2010 via Century
Media Records. The CD was recorded at The Wolves Den studio in Las Vegas, Nevada
with producer Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH
PUNCH).

The track listing for the effort is as follows:
01. The William Tell Overture
02. Skin In The Game
03. The Bitch Is A Bullet
04. Angelina
05. Champagne Communist
The CD was mixed by Aaron Murray and was mastered at Carvello Mastering in Toronto, Ontario. The artwork is once again being
created by Babyjack Design, who previously worked with the band on the "Vagabond
Bones" and "Smash Hits Unplugged" releases.
Regarding the new material, HELIX frontman Brian Vollmer said,
"I wrote [the first] four songs with Sean Kelly. One ('Angelina')
was also a co-write with Moe Berg. Sean has been my partner on
the last couple of HELIX discs — 'Vagabond Bones' and 'Smash
Hits Unplugged' — as well as being a large part of the acoustic show.
"These four songs ('Champagne
Communist', 'Angelina', 'Skin In The Game', and 'The Bitch
Is A Bullet') are really just a continuation of the 'Vagabond Bones' CD. We wrote them very shortly after that CD was finished and they've been
sitting in the can for a year."

and previously unreleased tracks from SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, INFECTIOUS

and Brooks Wackerman.
"The Mad Mad Muir Musical Tour" track listing:

03. All The Way!
04. Got Feelings?

11. Who's Next?
12. What It Is!
13. Slo Death
14. So What? (If We Don't Care!)
15. Soulvation
In a recent interview with KillYourStereo.com, Mike Muir stated
about the status of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' long-awaited new studio album,
"One of the things we've realized is when you're young and put out your
first record and start playing it to people, you are never thinking about
thirty years down the track. I mean, that's twice as old as you are at the
time. What we've learned is that when we do a new record, we know what we're
doing, we know it will be a great record and we're not going to worry about
what people are listening to at any given time. We just have to make sure we
like it and we're not trying to be some kind of a tribute to something else. An
album has to be a statement of what we believe in. Consequently, I think our
music has obviously held up against the test of time. The new record will be
the same; we're not going to try and fit in with what other people are doing.
It's something that we are going to think very strongly of and that 10, 20
years later it will still sound good to someone who is hearing it for the first
time. I think that's the most important thing."
When asked how long the band has been writing new material for, Muir said, "Well, we have our own studio back home in the States and being our
own label and with the way music is now, we don't have to worry about putting
something out by a certain time. Right now we have so much music, and we'll
play stuff and people will be like, 'Fuck, what's that?' and one of us will be
like, 'I don't know, man, just some stuff I've been working on,' and then (they
would ask), 'When's it coming out?' and we'd be like, 'I don't know, man. I
don't even know if it will!' We're not really worried about 'the game' as much
as we are about the music. I think that will probably come across when the next
record comes out. Probably early next year, I would imagine."
POISON singer Bret Michaels will sing the
band's hit song "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" on tomorrow's
(Monday, August 22) episode of "Bachelor Pad", an ABC spinoff of "The Bachelor" which features former contestants
from "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" competing for money and possible romance.
Veteran Japanese metallers LOUDNESS will release
their new album, "Eve To Dawn", on September 14.
The track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. A Light In The Dark
02. The Power Of Truth
03. Come Alive Again
04. Survivor
05. Keep You Burning
06. Gonna Do It My Way
07. Hang Tough
08. [Japanese Title]
09. Comes The Dawn
10. Pandora
11. Crazy! Crazy! Crazy!
According to The Pulse Of Radio, STAIND singer Aaron Lewis told Billboard.com that the band's upcoming
self-titled album was the most difficult one the group has ever made, saying
that the recording process was "trying and tumultuous." And he's got
proof, too: STAIND filmed a documentary about the making of the record
which Lewis told The Pulse Of Radio could be his band's answer to METALLICA's "Some Kind Of Monster". "On
steroids," he said. "There's no therapist there trying to keep it all
together for us. It was just a full-on falling apart at the seams. And for the
most part, we were an open book. I mean, I think the camera got shut off twice
in the entire process. And it's very unflattering. It's really hard for me to
watch."
METALLICA's "Some Kind Of Monster" chronicled the
making of that band's 2003 album "St. Anger", a two-year
process during which the group nearly split.
The STAIND documentary will be included on the deluxe CD/DVD edition of
the band's new album, which arrives on September 13.
Lewis said that the making of the record "got so bad that we
stopped working (together) and we just went to doing it on our own." The
band members worked in separate locations with minimal contact.
By the time the dust settled, the group had said goodbye to drummer Jon
Wysocki — the first personnel change in STAIND's history.
STAIND will do scattered shows around the country through the end of the
year, then will kick off its full world tour schedule with an Australian run
next February, followed by North American and European treks.
Former STAIND drummer Jon Wysocki will sit
behind the kit for SOIL during the Chicago
band's upcoming co-headlining U.K.
tour with PUDDLE OF MUDD.
SOIL will return to the U.K.
in October with a lineup that will include the band's original lead singer and
founding member Ryan McCombs (on loan from DROWNING POOL) and
fellow founding members Tim King (bass) and Adam Zadel (lead
guitar).
Commented Wysocki: "I'm looking forward to joining my friends in SOIL on this tour. I've known these guys for a long time and always loved their
music. I'm honored to be playing on this tour with the band for the amazing
European fans. Looking forward to seeing you at the shows. Don't miss this
one!"
SOIL has confirmed a setlist comprised of select cuts from the "Scars" and "Re.de.fine" albums, along with a surprise song from the
debut "Throttle Junkies" release.
The band's breakthrough effort, "Scars" (featuring the hits "Halo" and "Unreal"), was released on September 11, 2001, making 2011
the 10th anniversary of its release.

copies in the United States
in its first week of release to debut at position No. 56 on the Hard Music
