Dear friends and colleagues,
It's a pleasure to introduce myself and my work to this list's members... My name is Edgardo Civallero, I'm writing you from Spain (though I'm Argentinian), and I'm a musician with a 20-years career playing traditional South American music in general and Andean music in particular. Because of my academic formation as a historian and a librarian, I've had the chance to field-work in indigenous communities all around the Andes and to collect oral tradition and music. I speak Andean indigenous languages (Quechua, Aymara, Mapuche), and I have a good collection of instruments, music and books from this region, experience as a multi-instrument player (and a couple of CDs in my pocket) and a real love for traditional sounds.
Currently I'm the editor of "Land of winds" (http://landofwinds.blogspot.com/), a digital magazine on Andean music and culture. It's the translated version of "Tierra de vientos", the original magazine in Spanish. English version may not be perfect, but we're trying to present a divulgative look on this world, its musicians, its geography and culture and, of course, the music and instruments. You're invited to visit it and to send your opinions and collaboration, and of course to spread the word.
Hope to hear from you here... Kind regards
Edgardo Civallero
