True enough Bob. I haven't thought of Luba in years.

Another Canadian female that I liked back in that era was Darby Mills who was the leather lunged voice of the Headpins.

Luba is Canadian and like most Canadian artists, unless they can make a name for themselves in the US, it is very difficult for them to achieve star status.

I always thought Luba deserved more recognition than she received.

I wonder why we never heard of Luba in the UK?

We had Bonnie Tyler, Alison Moyet, Stevie Nicks, Cher, Ella, Pat Benatar, Melanie and Joan Jett I suppose.

If any female singer from the 80's could possibly have matched Ann Wilson's voice for sheer power and delivery, it may have been Luba ......

For some reason Luba never did receive the recognition that she probably deserved. Don't know why ?

Would have been great to see Luba and Ann Wilson on stage together ..... between the two of them they probably had enough power to bring a building down.

Capitol picked them up but there were a lot of regulations forced upon the Wilson sisters at the time; forced to use songs by Capitol staff and freelance songwriters, and forced to do somewhat "racy" videos that the girls would have refused to do in any other circumstance.

Nancy Wilson herself hates most of the music they made during that time, and refuses to play most of it at their concerts. To this day, I dont think they play a single song from Passionworks.

Featuring new bassist Mark Andes (ex Spirit, Jo Jo Gunne), and drummer Denny Carmassi (ex Gamma) the album failed to go gold, putting Heart at a career crossroads. Howevr who could have predicted what was to happen with their next album, and the first for Capitol Records.
