Record Store Day is proud to announce the appointment of Ozzy Osbourne as the Record Store Day Ambassador 2011. He says, "I now have the power to command you to attend Record Store Day, April 16th. Be there!"
Go to www.recordstoreday.com right now for a special message from the Ambassador himself.
As one of the most iconic figures in pop culture, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee and multi-Grammy winner Ozzy Osbourne has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, approximately 50 million with his seminal metal band BLACK SABBATH and the rest as a solo artist, many of which were initially released on vinyl. On any given day you can hear Ozzy's music blasting at sporting events, in the movies, on the radio, in TV commercials, video games or on your iPod.
The folks at Record Store Day couldn't be more pleased than to have this true rock legend whose career has spanned four decades and whose music continues to be relevant today, as evidenced by 2010's "Scream" (Ozzy's 10th solo album, which entered the charts in the Top 10 in seven countries) and his in-progress 18-month world tour — as this year's ambassador. "The Record Store Day Ambassador's main purpose is to claim the mantle of greatness that conveys the majesty of the amazing array of releases made on the world's only holiday devoted to music. We were thrilled when the inaugural position was held in 2009 by the EAGLES OF DEATH METAL front man Jesse 'Boots Electric' Hughes, and was then followed in 2010 by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE/THEM CROOKED VULTURES' Joshua Homme," says Record Store Day co-founder Michael Kurtz. "We really didn't know who could top this trajectory of camp and circumstance and, needless to say, we were gobsmacked when Ozzy stepped
up to the plate."
Ozzy fans who come out to support Record Store Day will have the first chance to purchase a special seven-inch vinyl single of "Diary Of A Madman"'s "Flying High Again" (with a live version of "I Don't Know" as the B-side), along with full-length vinyl versions of the newly expanded 30th anniversary editions of his "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman" albums.
Long revered by rock fans around the world, "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman" form the cornerstone of Ozzy Osbourne's career as a solo artist and include the groundbreaking union of Ozzy and the late guitar prodigy Randy Rhoads. These two albums created a template for hard rock in the 1980's and beyond. "Crazy Train", the first single from "Blizzard Of Ozz", has become one of Ozzy's musical signatures, a perennial on the rock playlists and as part of Ozzy's live performances. 30 years later, we are celebrating these releases and this special partnership.
Record Store Day is managed by the Music Monitor Network and is organized in partnership with the Alliance of Independent Media Stores (AIMS), the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) and celebrates the culture of independent record stores by playing host to in-store events/performances, signings and special product releases on a global scale.
Record Store Day takes place annually on the third Saturday of April.
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN are confirmed to play at the 30th international motorcycle convention — Faro 2011. This gathering, which is the biggest motorcycle convention in Europe and is hosted by the Moto Clube De Faro, takes place between July 14 and July 17, with IRON MAIDEN headlining the first night. Other bands confirmed to appear are XUTOS E PONTAPÉS (Portugal); MAGO DE OZ (Spain); HELLS BELLS (tribute to AC/DC) (U.K.); LOS INHUMANOS (Spain); IRIS (Portugal).
MAIDEN's presence in Faro honors a great mutual friendship of many years of both of the band and the Moto Clube De Faro — the late Manu Da Silva. Manu was MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris' personal friend and the manager of Eddie's Bar in Santa Barbara de Nexe-Faro. Steve comments: "We have been trying to schedule to play at this incredible event for many years and it's fantastic that we have finally got the opportunity.
"l first met and became friends with the guys from Moto Clube De Faro a long time ago through mutual friend and Eddie's Bar manager Manu Da Silva, who tragically died five years ago. Manu was for many years a very good friend of myself and the band so you could say that our playing there is a tribute to his memory.
"We are all very much looking forward to this"
The last time MAIDEN played in The Algarve was back in March 1993 during the "Real Live Tour", so a return visit is well overdue.

METALLICA's official web site has been updated with the following message:
"Last week we told you there would be a few more 'Big Four' shows and today's installment takes us to Milan, Italy. Look for more good times with ANTHRAX, MEGADETH, SLAYER, and yours truly at the Fiera Open Air Arena on July 6, 2011.
"Tickets will be available Friday, February 24 at 9:00 a.m. local time at Ticketone.it. MetClub members should check MetClub.com for more details on a special pre-sale for Clubbers only.
"One more on the docket . . . keep watching here!"
The so-called "Big Four" are arguably the biggest and longest-lasting acts to emerge from the thrash/speed metal underground of the late '80s, but never shared a stage together until last year.
The two-disc DVD release of "The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria", containing footage of the June 22, 2010 Sonisphere cinecast from the Sofia, Bulgaria leg of the "Big Four" tour has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments in excess of 100,000 copies. (Note: Due to the fact that the set consists of two discs, it was eligible for platinum certification after shipping 50,000 copies; platinum certification for a single-disc release is 100,000 copies.)
"The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard "Top Music Videos" sales chart in November with first-week sales of 22,000 copies. The set also debuted at No. 1 in Canada, the U.K. and Austria, while entering at No. 4 in Germany.
The show was part of a two-week European tour featuring the four biggest names from the Eighties thrash metal era. The idea first came up last year and Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio he was glad to finally see it happen. "It's pretty amazing if you think about it, that it's the first time basically in 25 years or 30 or whatever that the four of us have actually played shows together," he said. "So it was a lot of fun, a lot of memories, a lot of fun times — new fun times, and fun times talking about the old fun times. So it sort of was a, it was a winner on every front."
"The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria" set features full shows from all four bands along with behind-the-scenes and interview footage.
As first reported on January 25, METALLICA has announced the details of the U.S. leg of the "Big Four" tour. Disappointingly, however, there will only be a single North American gig for now, on Saturday, April 23 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California — the same location where the Coachella festival takes place every year.

Also set for release this summer is LEPPARD's first coffee table book titled "Def Leppard - The Definitive Visual History", with exclusive photos by legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin.
DEF LEPPARD remain one of the world's biggest and most successful live acts. The band last played the U.K. in 2009 — headlining Download festival that year after a hugely successful sold out U.K. arena tour in 2008.
Tune in to Planet Rock tomorrow (Wednesday, February 23) at 8:45 a.m. GMT to hear an exclusive interview with DEF LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott on the breakfast show.
DEF LEPPARD is reportedly planning to embark on a two-month U.S. summer tour with HEART and KANSAS.
As previously reported, DEF LEPPARD and HEART are confirmed for the 18th annual Rock Fest, which is scheduled to take place July 14-17 in Cadott, Wisconsin.
DOWN 'N OUTZ — a project fronted by DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott, backed by THE QUIREBOYS and playing rare tracks connected only by MOTT THE HOOPLE — will support Paul Rodgers (BAD COMPANY, FREE, QUEEN) on his U.K. tour in April.
ESP (ERIC SINGER PROJECT) — the band featuring Bruce Kulick (KISS, GRAND FUNK RAILROAD), Eric Singer (KISS, ALICE COOPER), John Corabi (MÖTLEY CRÜE, RATT) and Chuck Garric (ALICE COOPER, DIO) — has scheduled the following European tour dates:

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie told Empire magazine that his upcoming film, "The Lords Of Salem", will be his "bleakest" outing yet — this from the man whose four previous directorial efforts include the ultra-violent "The Devil's Rejects" and two grim "Halloween" movies. As for the plot of "Salem", Zombie gave a more detailed outline than before, saying, "There were twenty people that everyone knows about — obviously all innocent — executed as witches in Salem . . . there were a further four who actually were witches, who were killed secretly, and vowed one day to return to wreak havoc on Salem's descendants. That's when the movie jumps ahead to the present day and things start to go wrong."
"The Lords Of Salem" is scheduled to go into production later this spring. Zombie said he's had the idea for the movie for years, even before he recorded the song of the same name.
Zombie also revealed that he's no longer involved with a remake of "The Blob", saying, "If it's too similar to the original, everybody wonders what the point was, but if it's too different, everybody complains that it's too different! . . . It's like people have a set of rules in their minds about how these things should function, and you can't work like that."
Zombie told Empire that he still would like to make his biker film, "Tyrannosaurus Rex", someday, and also hopes to make a Western. He also told The Pulse Of Radio not long ago what kind of horror movie he'd like to see Hollywood make again. "It would be so cool to do, like, 'The Return Of Frankenstein', but you do it like Frankenstein looked in all the original Universal films," he said. "That would be so cool to go back and make a totally classic horror movie. Don't jazz it all up like Van Helsing, but make something really classic. I think people would go for it."
Zombie, who directed all his own music videos, made his debut as a feature film writer and director with 2003's "House Of 1000 Corpses".
He's currently on the road behind his 2010 album, "Hellbilly Deluxe 2", and will play a few more shows in England and Australia before returning home to begin work on "The Lords Of Salem".
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE will embark on a European run of shows during which it will perform its critically-lauded 1998 self-titled debut in its entirety along with some B-sides and rarities.

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN frontman Greg Puciato is collaborating with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) on "an album of thrash brutality," according to a recent Facebook posting from the singer. Puciato previously said that the as-yet-unnamed project would be similar in spirit to NAILBOMB, Cavalera's 1994 one-off industrial punk-infused metal pairing with FUDGE TUNNEL's Alex Newport.
Puciato joined SOULFLY on stage at the 14th annual "D-Low Memorial" on August 28, 2010 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona to perform the song "Rise Of The Fallen".
Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.
In an interview with I Heart Guitar, Max stated about SOULFLY's collaboration with Puciato on "Rise of the Fallen", "That was one of the great surprises of [the latest SOULFLY album] 'Omen'. It turned out to be such a classic song, really a great, killer song, and it was done from scratch. I had the idea to invite Greg after I bumped into him at a DEFTONES concert in L.A. that we both sang with the DEFTONES, I invited him to come to the studio, and I mentioned the name of the song, 'Rise of the Fallen', and I wanted him to write original lyrics for it, and he felt really good about that. So he wrote all original verses and he helped me with the choruses. Every time I say 'rise of the fallen,' there's a Greg response to that. He was just a great guy to work with. A lot of energy, really excited about the song. He really wanted to make the best song possible. I give him a lot of credit for making 'Rise Of The Fallen' one of the most exciting songs I've
been part of in my career. It's a track that stands out from the rest, I think. Greg's ideas were really flowing."
Darayus Kaye of RockAndMetalNews.com recently conducted an interview with keyboardist Janne Wirman of Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
RockAndMetalNews.com: Do you feel you were pushed more with Matt [Hyde] as a producer?
Janne: We had a little shorter studio time this time because of a of lot things. We played some festivals this summer and then we were a little later with the songwriting process. The studio time got shrunk, but in the long run it kept us all focused. During the recording of our last album we were just drinking and partying at the studio. This time we were all just focused on recording and getting it done.
RockAndMetalNews.com: Looking at the history of the band, you seem to have spent your lives in a tour bus or in a studio. How do you find coping with that lifestyle, as it can get quite monotonous?
Janne: It's getting harder and harder, I am 31 now. As you get towards 30, you realize that you cant drink and party 24/7 and your physique cant take it either. We're still having fun on the road and in the studio, but it's getting harder on you.
RockAndMetalNews.com: When you're in your twenties you think you're indestructible and going to live forever!
Janne: Whatever we did all around the world was fun, but then you sort of realize, "Oh, shit, I can't keep doing that; it's not cool."
RockAndMetalNews.com: I've read that now your all quite lazy when it comes to practising?
Janne: Back in the day we practiced five days a week for about four or five hours at a time; we were retarded with all the practicing back in the day. I am personally quite lazy nowadays, but before a tour or going into a studio, we do practice like crazy.
RockAndMetalNews.com: Your new album, "Relentless Reckless Forever", is that a statement of how you guys live?
Janne: Well, Alexi [Laiho, guitar/vocals]writes all the lyrics so I guess it's him. In a way I guess it does relate to all our attitudes. I think the new album is really fresh; some of the melodies and the choruses are so catchy, but you can recognize the aggressive guitar riffs.
RockAndMetalNews.com: You've recently toured with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and Zakk Wylde in the States. Was it fun?
Janne: I don't know if I should say this in an interview, but I am going to say it anyway. I think they kind of made a mistake with the whole tour. I think the ticket price was a little too high and at the same time there was a great tour with SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX at the same time and their ticket prices were a lot lower. If I was a fan, I would have gone and seen SLAYER. That was the problem with the BLACK LABEL tour. I was expecting bigger crowds, bigger arenas. We had a great time, of course; all the crowds in Canada were huge. In the end it was a great tour, but I was expecting a little bit more for some of the dates.
Guitarist Bill Hudson (ex-CELLADOR, CIRCLE II CIRCLE, POWER QUEST) has teamed up with his former bandmate Mikey Gremio (ex-CELLADOR) and drummer Bruno Agra (ZODIAC MINDWARP, ex-REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE), as well as young shredder John Killall to form the new, Los Angeles-based heavy metal band DEFENDER.
Drawing influences from classics like IRON MAIDEN, PANTERA, HELLOWEEN, SKID ROW and METALLICA all the way to the modern hard rock made by SHINEDOWN, AVENGED SEVENFOLD and THREE DAYS GRACE, as well as the aggressiveness of SLAYER, FEAR FACTORY and MESHUGGAH, DEFENDER intends to create catchy songs with great, hooky melodies, intricate and technical guitar work and heavy, and precise riffing. Lyrically, they touch both real and fictional subjects, such as a futuristic third world war or the need to live here and now before it's too late.
DEFENDER is currently in pre-production for its debut album and will release an EP entitled "WWIII" this year.
DEFENDER is:
Mikey Gremio: Lead Vocals
Bill Hudson: Lead, Rhythm Guitars, Vocals
Bruno Angra: Drums, Vocals
John Killall: Lead & Rhythm Guitars, Vocals
'80s hard rock/metal band RIPT has inked a deal with Dark Star Records for the re-release of its self-titled debut album.
Hailing from Rockford, Illinois — the home of CHEAP TRICK — RIPT tore it up in the late '80s and early '90s with songs like "This Is Your Brain On Rock 'N' Roll" and the amped up version of ELVIS PRESLEY's "Suspicious Minds". The band released its self-titled full-length album in 1992 that included the love ballad "Nicole" and ten other fan favorites. The LP sold over 15,000 copies and the band was headed for the big time. But before RIPT could get to the next level, the ride was over. With one of the better albums of the last decade just sitting on a shelf, it would only be a matter of time before someone would re-release this hard rock anthem. Now with a special worldwide digital release through Ioda/Sony via Dark Star Records, "Ript" will once again see the the light of day.
"Ript" is available now at digital retailers everywhere, including iTunes.
RIPT is:
Wally Houck (drums)
Mike Nelson (guitar)
PK Ripper (guitar)
Ian Serrano (vocals)
Greg Utley (bass)
Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION have announced the addition of drummer Mike Coolen (SILKSTONE, MAIDEN UNITED) to the group's ranks.
Commented the band: "[Mike] has played with us in the past on a few occasions before. The chemistry has always been very good both on stage as on personal level so he was the first on our mind."
A short introductory video from Mike can be viewed below.
Reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metallers BELIEVER will release their new album, "Transhuman", in Europe on April 11 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was produced by Trauma Team Productions and was mixed by Kevin Gutierrez (RAVEN, PROJECT: FAILING FLESH, DECEASED, DYSRYTHMIA, GARDEN OF SHADOWS) at Assembly Line Studios in Virginia. The mastering duties were handled by Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering in Los Angeles.
"Transhuman" track listing:
01. Lie Awake (5:03)
02. G.U.T. (3:39)
03. Multiverse (4:44)
04. End Of Infinity (4:12)
05. Transfection (3:55)
06. Clean Room (4:50)
07. Currents (2:50)
08. Traveler (4:23)
09. Ego Machine (4:29)
10. Being No One (4:47)
11. Entanglement (4:15)
12. Mindsteps (6:52)
The "Transhuman" cover artwork can be seen below.
Commented the band: "We decided early on in project that we wanted an outside person to mix the record so we could spend more time writing and recording. Kevin Leaman (BELIEVER guitarist) recommended Kevin Gutierrez from Assembly Line Studios for mixing this record. Leaman had worked with Gutierrez previously and said that he was really easy to work with.
"From the first telephone conversation it was clear that Gutierrez understood exactly what we were looking for sonically and he seemed really interested in helping us achieve that.
"We let Kevin know we wanted this album to sound very musical; not just be heavy. We wanted to use the whole frequency range and not have all the mids scooped out so that everything going on in the tunes was audible. Most importantly, we wanted to keep the dynamics.
"We were a little nervous about not being there physically for the mix, but we spent so much time tweaking in the sounds for tracking that we were confident he had good stuff to work with. The rough mixes we made for ourselves already sounded pretty decent.
"Kevin was fast and efficient. He'd send us reference mixes as he completed each song and we'd be emailing/texting comments back and forth at all hours of the day and night. He was very responsive to our change requests and was really helpful in setting up the mastering session and communicating what we wanted to Maor Appelbaum of Maor Appelbaum Mastering.
"Maor also understood what we were trying to achieve with the dynamics and the overall listening experience we wanted to create on this album.
"Sonically we're extremely happy with this album and can't wait for other people to hear it. We feel like this is a really strong and unique album in the BELIEVER catalog and it's something we're definitely proud of.
"So what will you hear? As we mentioned, we focused more on the overall musicality which included more instrumental layers than we used before. The vocals were also more of a focus as we have had much feedback throughout the years, specifically to get out of the one dimensional realm. Kurt [Bachman] wanted the vocals to be more complimentary to the overall tune feel, so he used many facets of his vocal abilities.
"As with all BELIEVER albums, this one is definitely unique."
BELIEVER performed live for the first time in 16 years on September 25, 2009 at Sterling Hotel in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The band's fourth album, "Gabriel", was released in March 2009 through KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Howard Jones's new imprint label Cesspool Records via Metal Blade. The CD featured guest appearances by Jones, Joe Rico (SACRIFICE), CKY/WORLD UNDER BLOOD guitarist/vocalist Deron Miller and Rocky Gray (EVANESCENCE, SOUL EMBRACED, LIVING SACRIFICE).
BELIEVER is:
Kurt Bachman - Guitar/Vocals

POISONBLACK — the Finnish band featuring former SENTENCED frontman Ville Laihiala — will release a new single, "Mercury Falling", on March 7. The track is the first single from the group's forthcoming fifth album, tentatively titled "Lead & Roll Vol. 5", which will be released this spring via Hype Records. The CD was recorded at Antfarm Studio in Århus, Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, MOONSPELL, DARK TRANQUILLITY, GOREFEST).
Madsen previously mixed POISONBLACK's 2006 effort "Lust-Stained Despair".

The cover and booklet artwork was created by Teemu Hostikka.
"A Dead Heavy Day" also entered the Finnish chart at position No. 6.
WITHIN TEMPTATION's fifth studio album, "The Unforgiving", was produced by Daniel Gibson and is based on a comic book story written by script writer Steven O'Connell (BloodRayne, Dark 48). The band asked comic artist Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness, X-Men) to draw the characters and scenery of "The Unforgiving", which is set for release via Sony Music in Continental Europe and Roadrunner Records in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, Japan and Australia. The films are based on the comic storyline; the characters are impersonated by actors. Each film is followed by a band performance that, all together, form a dark and compelling tale of life, love, revenge, rage, and regret.
WITHIN TEMPTATION will play a special one-off U.S. show at Terminal 5 in New York City on Saturday, September 10.

The self-titled debut album from Swedish epic doom metallers SORCERER was reissued on January 11 via Brainticket/Rockadrome Records. The newly remastered and repackaged CD — which originally came out in 1995 — features tracks from both of the band's infamous underground cassettes, including a stunning cover version of RAINBOW's all-time classic "Stargazer", plus an expanded 12-page booklet with lyrics and liner notes by SOLITUDE AETURNUS guitarist John Perez.
SORCERER emerged out of Sweden in the late 80s and was one of the very early bands to champion what is now known as "epic doom metal." Besides genre pioneers CANDLEMASS, groups like SOLITUDE AETURNUS, WHILE HEAVEN WEPT and SORCERER were among the few groups around representing this style of metal.
During its existence, SORCERER produced two self-financed cassette releases, both of which quickly became underground cult classics regularly hailed by metalheads as some of the finest of the era. After a few personnel changes, the group disintegrated in 1992 and since then some of the bandmembers went on to find some success with other groups. Bassist Johnny Hagel achieved greater success in TIAMAT and later SUNDOWN. Vocalist Anders Engberg has also made a name for himself with several other bands he has fronted, such as LION'S SHARE, TWILIGHT and, most recently, SECTION A.
In the fall of 2010, members of SORCERER were coaxed into reforming to play a one-off gig at the Hammer Of Doom festival in Germany alongside groups like SOLITUDE AETURNUS, IRON MAN and GHOST. They were so well received and clearly one of the highlights of the festival that notions of reforming on a more permanent basis were floated in the air.
SORCERER is currently working on new material and has been booked to appear at the Greek metal festival Up The Hammers IV in the spring.

French doomsters SURTR will release their debut album, "World Of Doom", on April 29 except in France, U.K. and Ireland, where it will arrive on May 2. The cover artwork and layout are being designed by Christoph "Stripe" Schinzel (ANVIL, COUNT RAVEN, SODOM, VICIOUS RUMORS).
According to a press release, SURTR unleashes a dark atmosphere of traditional doom metal on its debut CD. The band paints a gloomy picture of the world using the hallmarks of doom metal pioneers. They set up the basics of upcoming riots through a conceptual effort using an analogy between the giant SURTR's legend and modern societies.
SURTR is:
Régis Beck: Drums
Julien Kuhn: Bass
JeFF Maurer: Guitar, Vocals

Irish pagan metal masters PRIMORDIAL have revealed the artwork and track listing for their upcoming album, "Redemption At The Puritan's Hand", due on April 26 via Metal Blade Records.
"Redemption At The Puritan's Hand" track listing:
01. No Grave Deep Enough
02. Lain With The Wolf
03. Bloodied Yet Unbowed
04. God's Old Snake
05. The Mouth Of Judas
06. The Black Hundred
07. The Puritan's Hand
08. Death Of The Gods
Commented PRIMORDIAL vocalist Alan "Nemtheanga" Averill: "So it's finished, ready, done and dusted, as they say.
"The cover was done again by our by now resident art executioner Paul McCarroll from Unhinged Art. Simple, I think you will admit, but definitely one that we argued least about through all the years, dark, macabre and beautiful it perfectly portrays the themes of the new album, which I will get into shortly."
Nemtheanga about the recordings: "So how does it compare? For the first time I guess we felt a little pressure. Before 'To The Nameless Dead' we had always been a niche band, a critic's choice, but following 'To The Nameless Dead' we moved a little more centre stage.
"Expectations, my friends, expectations! Yes, it contains rabble-rousers and hooks and choruses, memorable themes and dynamics but also it has darkness in spades. It has grit, filth and foreboding. Dark sweeping tragedy as always mixed with blood stirring defiance!
"The recording, of course, was booked during what has turned out to be one of the worst winters in living memory in Europe. Leaving Ireland at -15 to travel to a -20 Wales, trudging through feet of snow, slipping on black ice and basically having our bollix frozen off for three weeks left me thinking next time I'm going to record in the Bahamas and fake all this grimness. For good measure, I got what looking back must have been swine flu recording the vocals. In fact, some I can't remember recording, I was so out of my head on painkillers and energy drinks. Suffering for your art is overrated, believe me."

Solid drumming and bass parts, insane tight riffing, solos that almost have the passion of Dimebag Darrell and a wide variety of grunts and screams makes STATE:CHAOS' chemistry one of a kind."

Former SYLOSIS frontman Jamie Graham has joined the fast-rising U.K. groove metal outfit HEART OF A COWARD.
In search of a refreshing, heavier vocal edge, the band parted ways with their vocalist last month and Jamie couldn't have stumbled upon the band at a better time.
Blown away by the content and structure of the material, and the fresh ideas on the table, Jamie stepped up to lay down only what can be described as a monumental audition to bring the band together as a unit like never before.
This completed a sound of devastating, rage-filled groove that will most certainly lead to much success over the coming year!
With the lineup now back to a solid state, it brings the new highly anticipated debut album to a point of near completion and is scheduled for a late summer release, supported by international touring across the live circuit as well as single and video releases.
Commened the band: "This is an exciting time to bring in a well-trained and experienced new vocalist. Jamie has brought so many new ideas to the table which will see the album reach new levels and excite all of our fans plus many more new ones to come! The band feel more like a unit than ever before and moral is high which is only rubbing off on the album. We really look forward to hitting the road with Jamie and unleashing this complete beast of a new album to our fans."

ASESINO bassist and vocalist Maldito X — otherwise known as Tony Campos (PRONG, MINISTRY, STATIC-X, POSSSESSED) — has the following to say about his guest lead vocal work for the song "Sigo Siendo El Rey", which will appear on "Satánico Dramático", the new album by Los Angeles extreme metal band DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS:
"Sigo siendo el rey, cabrones! Y si no le gusta a Chente, que se vaya a la verga, a llorar y llorar."
"Sigo Siendo El Rey" can be streamed in its entirety here.
Fans of traditional Mexican music will be quick to note the lyrical allusions to the song "El Rey" made famous by The King of Mexican rancheras, Vicente "Chente" Fernández, who — as a young boy — was inspired to sing by Pedro Infante, an actor and singer from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
"El Rey" was written by one of México's greatest singer/songwriters, José Alfredo Jiménez. Click here for lyrics and an English translation. Click here to view a video of Vicente Fernández performing it live.

SARKE, the Norwegian band featuring Sarke (real name: Thomas Bergli; KHOLD, TULUS, OLD MAN'S CHILD, SENSA ANIMA) and Nocturno Culto (DARKTHRONE), will release its sophomore album, "Oldarhian", on April 15 via Indie Recordings.
In 2009, Bergli joined forces with Nocturno Culto and Anders Hunstad (EL CACO, AUTOPULVER) on keyboards to release the debut SARKE album called "Vorunah". It was a mesmerizing journey through dark and soothing soundscapes, musically inspired by the legends like MAYHEM, SLAYER, DARKTHRONE, CELTIC FROST, BLACK SABBATH, CANDLEMASS, DEATH, MOTÖRHEAD and KREATOR. "Vorunah" received great feedback from both press and the fans alike and Sarke thus decided to do live shows. He put together an impressive lineup, featuring Cyrus (SUSPERIA, DIMMU BORGIR) and Steinar Gundersen (SATYRICON, SPIRAL ARCHITECT) on guitars and Asgeir Mickelson (SPIRAL ARCHITECT, ex-BORKNAGAR) on drums. The band played successful shows at festivals like Inferno, Hole In The Sky, Party.San, Brutal Assault and Ragnarok, to name but afew.
On "Oldarhian" SARKE is still inspired by the great rock bands from the '70s, the death and thrash metal of the '80s, and the '90s black metal. The CD was recorded in Oslo at H-10 Productions the old-fashioned way, and continues the formula from the debut album: dark, epic and groovy.
Commented Sarke: "Our music is inspired by the great '70s rock bands, '80s speed metal bands and '90s black metal bands. Put this together with the creative mind of the band and your get pure dark rock music sounding is clear, raw and honest."

Michigan's unstoppable sons of molten melodic death metal THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have completed the songwriting process for their fifth album, tentatively due later in the year via Metal Blade Records. Vocalist Trevor Strnad told the Gun Shy Assassin web site, "Shit's going great… sounding killer so far. I just sang on my last two demo songs today… I'm finally done writing this bastard of an album."
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's forthcoming CD will once again be produced by Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, BURY YOUR DEAD, DEICIDE), who also worked on 2009's "Deflorate". Lewis wrote on his Facebook page last week that the new THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER material "is ragin', boys and girls."
"Deflorate" sold around 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 43 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released on September 15, 2009 via Metal Blade, the CD was produced by THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, Mark Lewis and Jason Suecof (BENEATH THE MASSACRE, JOB FOR A COWBOY), with mixing duties handled by Suecof. According to a press release, "Deflorate" is "a multifaceted death trip: beautiful, evil, and morbidly addicting. THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER's fourth thrashing epic sees no punch pulled, no gravestone unturned, no soul uncorrupted."
Guitarist Ralf van der Horst has left Den Bosch, Netherlands-based thrash/death metallers PERSISTENSE (a contraction of the words "to persist" and "intense"). The rest of the band will not seek a replacement and will continue as a four-piece.

AZARATH, the Polish extreme metal band featuring BEHEMOTH drummer Zbigniew Robert "Inferno" Prominski, will release its as-yet-untitled fifth album on June 6 via Witching Hour Productions. The CD was recorded in January and February at Hertz Studio (VADER, BEHEMOTH, LOST SOUL) with the Wieslawscy Bros. handling the production, mixing and mastering. The music was composed and arranged by Inferno and Bart, while Necrosodom wrote all the lyrics. 10 new devilish hymns were recorded for the album, including "Behold The Satan's Sword", "Under The Will of The Lord", "Deathstorms Raid The Earth" and "Lucifer's Rising".
Commented Inferno: "The character and atmosphere of music was changed considerably. The music is dark, ominous and spatial — in many parts refers to black metal and classics of the genre. Aggression and sonic massacre is not lacking at all – as this is our main frontline."
AZARATH recently underwent some personnel changes — Necrosodom (guitar and vocals) replaced Bruno, while the bass duties are now being handled by P.
A new AZARATH EP, "Holy Possession", will arrive on April 10 as a CD and seven-inch EP. It will feature the title track and a cover of "Rebel Souls" by DAMNATION. The CD edition will be limited to 666 copies ("die hard") and the seven-inch EP will be limited to 333 copies — on white vinyl with a metal envelope containing also a poster and a badge.
The graphic design for the for full album and LP was handled by Boris Kaluzhny (a.k.a. Hatefrost), a Ukrainian artist residing in New York.
New York black/thrash metal band OV DUST has released its debut album, "Resurrection Of An American Heretic", via American Black Metal Records. The CD was recorded and mixed at Overit Studios during the spring of 2010 and mastered by legendary producer Don Fury (AGNOSTIC FRONT, SICK OF IT ALL, MDC, EYES OF HATE, RAW POWER). It is comprised of nine tracks spanning more than 50 minutes and it "illustrates the bands talent for mixing elements of black metal with old-school thrash creating a distinctive brand of extreme metal," according to a press release.
Formed in early 2008, OV DUST "firmly steps away from the embittered mainstream, straddling the line between the underground and misunderstood, creating the grinding music of inherent dissension."
