Billy Joel - 'Live at Shea Stadium' DVD, CD+DVD, Blu-ray

On July 16 and 17, 2008 Billy Joel played the last two shows at New York's Shea Stadium prior to its demolition. It was fitting that one of Joel's guests, Paul McCartney also played Shea's first rock concert as a member of The Beatles in 1965. Other guests included The Who's Roger Daltrey, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Elton John, and John Mellencamp. Live at Shea Stadium will be available on CD, DVD, Blu-ray, and in a set containing two CDs and a DVD.
Asia - 'Spirit of the Night: Live' CD, MP3

In 2008, four of the original members of Asia (Steve Howe, Carl Palmer, Geoff Downes, John Wetton) reunited to record a new album, Phoenix (read review) followed by a tour in support of the new album, mixing some of their early work into the set list. Spirit of the Night: Live, recorded during a 2009 performance, is available on CD and DVD.
Joe Bonamassa - 'Dust Bowl' CD

Blues rock guitar slinger and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa is releasing his 10th solo album, Dust Bowl. Guest artists are an eclectic mix including Bonamassa's Black Country Communion band mate Glenn Hughes, John Hiatt and Vince Gill.
New York Dolls - 'Dancing Backward in High Heels' CD

With the release of Dancing Backward in High Heels, New York Dolls will have released more albums (three) since reuniting in 2006 than they did during their first life (two) between 1971 and 1976. This will be the first Dolls album for new guitarist Frank Infante (ex-Blondie.) The lineup features two of the band's original '70s roster, vocalist David Johansen and multi-instrumentalist Sylvain Sylvain.
R.E.M - 'Collapse Into Now' CD, Vinyl LP

Patti Smith and Eddie Vedder are among the guests on R.E.M.'s 15th studio album, Collapse Into Now. Mike Mills, who plays bass, guitar and keyboards on the album tells SPIN magazine, "We wanted to put more variety into it and not limit ourselves to any one type of song. There are some really slow, beautiful songs; there are some nice, mid-tempo ones; and then there are three or four rockers."
Bob Geldof - 'How to Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell' CD

Sure, it looks like an aging pamphlet, but How to Compose Popular Songs That Will Sell is Bob Geldof's fifth solo studio release, released in the U.K. in February. In fact, Geldof "borrrowed" the title from a music book he ran across in a used book store. The U.S. release in mid-March coincides with his gig as keynote speaker and featured performer at the SXSW festival in Austin. A reviewer for London's Evening Standard newspaper offered a three word summary of the album: "Bonkers but brilliant."
Van Der Graaf Generator - 'Grounding in Numbers' CD, Vinyl LP, MP3

Van Der Graaf Generator blossomed during progressive rock's formative years, the late '60s and early '70s. After splitting up in 1978, the band reunited in 2005 and have been active since. Vocalist/guitarist Peter Hammill has been with the band since it's formation in 1967. Bassist Hugh Banton and drummer Guy Evans joined up in 1968. Grounding in Numbers is the band's 12th studio album.
'Troubadours: The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter' DVD + CD

Troubadours: The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter is a music-heavy documentary film about the key players in the early '70s rise to prominence of artists who are equally adept at writing songs and performing them. Focusing primarily on James Taylor and Carole King, the film also covers artists like David Crosby, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, and Warren Zevon, among others. The CD accompanying the DVD contains the music featured in the film.
Remasters and Reissues
