It's all taste of course. I preferred McCartney as a solo artist. Wings was one of my go to bands for a time.

Wings was great, altho Macca sort of lost me with Silly Love songs, because at the time, I felt like the radio indeed was filled up with stupid love songs. Its a nice song tho. I especially liked Uncle Albert and My Love, with that bitchin guitar lead, and Let em In. Band on the Run is a real masterpiece. Macca is a really unusual talent, to be able to play bass like that and sing lead at the same time, is a superior musical skill. Very very difficult and he makes it look so easy.
Has anybody ever watched the TV show That 70s Show? theres that scene they show over and over, where the teens are sitting around in Erics basement, high as a kite, talking about silly stuff, the camera pans around to all their faves. On the wall, in the background of one of the shots, is a big rock band poster, the huge things they used to sell here in the states in the 70s, I had three or four of them, different bands. The one on the TV show is usually obscured, but, a friend tells me he thinks its a Wings poster. Anybody confirm?
My favorite Beatle solo albums were always by Harrison, especially All Things Must Pass, his first i think, might be wrong. I think that blew a lot of minds, how good it was, and the early Macca and Lennon albums fell way short of Georgie's mark, in my opinion. Macca eventually recovered of course and went on to dominate the airwaves. Lennon was so out of it and disinterested that he stopped recording for several years. I did like his Phil Spector thing, Rock and Roll, but I often wondered how much Lennon had to do with it... Maybe he just showed up and sang, dont know.
Lennon's an extremely odd case. According to most accounts I've read, he was a social rebel thru and thru, and the more successful the Beatles became, the less he wanted to do with music in general. The Beatles book by Bob Spitz, which is really good and almost exhaustive, paints Lennon as a bit of a thug.
Ringo, I dont think I ever heard one of his all the way thru, in spite of the fact that he was my favorite Beatle. In the movies anyway.
