MOTÖRHEAD frontman and rock icon Lemmy Kilmister will guest on the Monday, January 31 episode of NBC-TV's "Last Call With Carson Daly" (which will actually air the morning of Tuesday, February 1 at 1:35 a.m. EST).

For five decades, Lemmy has been a pounding force in heavy metal, both onstage and afterhours. With a tolerance for partying that rivals Keith Richards and bedpost notches that exceed a thousand women, Lemmy's incredible music and life story will be celebrated in the latest installment of the VH1 Rock Docs, series. "Lemmy" premieres Friday, February 11 at 11:30 p.m. on VH1, VH1 Classic, and Palladia.

Directors Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski create an intimate portrait of a man revered by his longtime fans as well as musicians spanning the musical spectrum. Lemmy has more than a few stories, often littered with drugs and alcohol, to share about his electrifying career with MOTÖRHEAD. He's paved the way for countless metal bands, and from his favorite barstool at the Rainbow to his cluttered apartment filled with memorabilia, Lemmy continues to inspire a new generation of metalheads.

Even before MOTÖRHEAD began, Lemmy had a lifetime of experiences under his belt — he saw THE BEATLES at the Cavern Club, served as a roadie for Jimi Hendrix, and played in both Merseybeat and psychedelic rock bands. Although he's 65, this rock god still acts not a day over 25 and doesn't plan to put down his Rickenbacker bass anytime soon.

Filmed over the course of three years, "Lemmy" made its world premiere at the 2010 South By Southwest Film and Music Festival, and has since collected rave reviews at film festivals around the globe. Other interviews featured in the film include musicians Dave Grohl, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Joan Jett, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, THE CLASH's Mick Jones, JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER's Peter Hook, Ice-T, David Navarro, PULP's Jarvis Cocker, as well as actor/musician Billy Bob Thornton and professional wrestler Triple H, all of whom make the case that Lemmy is more than just a tremendous musician: he symbolizes what metal is, what it was, and what it should be. "Lemmy" is currently screening at theaters nationwide and the uncensored director's cut will be available in stores on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, February 15.

As first reported on Tuesday (January 25), METALLICA has announced the details of the U.S. leg of the "Big Four" tour, which unites Eighties thrash metal legends METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX on stage for the first time. Disappointingly, however, there will only be a single North American gig for now, on Saturday, April 23 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California — the same location where the Coachella festival takes place every year.

During an appearance on yesterday's edition of "The Kevin & Bean Show" on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM (106.7), METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich explained the decision to play only one U.S. show, stating, "Let's take baby steps here. We did seven or eight ['Big Four' dates] last year, we're doing one show in England and one show in France [this year]."

He added, "Listen, we don't wanna cram this down people's throats. We don't wanna sort of overstay the welcome, and we don't know what kind of response there's gonna be to this in America, so we're starting, obviously, without being disrespectful to the rest of the wonderful country...

"We have a history in Southern California, SLAYER has a history in Southern California, [MEGADETH mainman and former METALLICA member Dave] Mustaine has a history in Southern California, so there's a lot of history in California. And we picked, obviously, the Coachella site where this is going down the week after the Coachella, [which] is probably — along with Bonnaroo — the favorite festival site to go to in North America.

"I went and saw RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE a couple of years ago out there at Coachella and just thought it was a brilliant, brilliant place, so when the Coachella organizers asked us if we would come and play there the week after and they would leave the scaffolding up and all that business, it just seemed like a great way to kick this off in North America.

"If there is enough demand for it, obviously there's a very strong possibility that there'll be more shows, but we don't wanna overextend the welcome and we also don't wanna turn it into something that becomes this whole nostalgia trip that's gonna sort of be, 'Okay, now it's just gonna be this for the next few years,' and 'Celebrate the past.' So it's a balancing act, you know."

Yesterday Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax announced plans to invade the massive Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, for a one-day festival by the "Big 4" originators of thrash-metal on April 23. The concert, which follows an historic seven-date tour of Europe last year, will be the first joint U.S. appearance by these four horsemen of thrash.

It seems the feuds of the past are a distant memory. "Most of the egos and sandbox issues from the Eighties and Nineties have dissipated," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich tells Rolling Stone. "We actually enjoy each others' company and are comfortable celebrating the past while continuing our path into the future. It's cool. Who would have known that anybody actually still gives a shit? We're very fortunate."
When Ulrich saw Rage Against the Machine erupt at the desert venue during the Coachella Festival in 2007, it left a powerful impression. "It was a fantastic vibe out there," he recalls. "Coachella seemed like the right place to do it. If this thing works, hopefully we can do an additional show somewhere else." (This summer, the Big 4 also return to Europe for two festivals: Knebworth in England, and Sonisphere in Amneville, France.)

"I'm chomping at the bit to do a full-blown tour at stadiums across the country," said Slayer guitarist Kerry King. Indeed, during last year's stadium tour through Europe, demand from around the world was so great that the penultimate concert in Bulgaria was broadcast into hundreds of movie theaters via satellite, and then issued on DVD. The fall release of The Big 4 Live from Sofia, Bulgaria is already certified double-platinum. At that concert, members of all four acts jammed onstage together through a thundering, euphoric cover of Diamond Head's "Am I Evil."
"A lot of this music has aged really well," Ulrich says. "There are a lot of 12-year-olds that show up at these rock shows. It's scary to see a whole slew of 12-year-olds up against the barricade down in the front. It's a great thing to be part of their rite of passage."
Photos: Anthrax and God Forbid Raise Hell
Even though each of the Big 4 toured across the U.S. last year, demand for tickets is expected to be high. "All of them together, that puts a whole different slant on it," says Paul Tollett, the co-founder of Coachella, whose Goldenvoice Productions is hosting the thrash fest. "Those records just hold up so well. They may be playing better live nowadays than they ever have."
Tickets are priced at $99. No camping will be allowed in the venue's heavy metal parking lot, but parking is free and shuttle buses will ferry head-bangers in from across SoCal.
Gary Bongiovanni, editor-in-chief at the concert trade magazine Pollstar, called the show "a heavy metal Coachella" likely to attract multiple generations of fans. "They don't have to do Coachella-size numbers to make this work," says Bongiovanni. Metallica was the fifth-highest grossing touring band worldwide in 2010, earning $110.1 million in just 60 dates. "Metallica is the clear headliner in this package. And pricing it at $99 makes it attractive if you're a metal fan."

But Metallica are not committing to any future festivals — yet.
"I'm not saying this is the last one," says Ulrich. "But I don't want this to turn into something that overtakes everybody's schedules for the next couple years. If we keep it special, it's better than to overstay your welcome and people run screaming away. Let's see what happens."

Detroit Rock Blog recently conducted an interview with bass veteran Rudy Sarzo (OZZY OSBOURNE, WHITESNAKE, QUIET RIOT, DIO, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT). A couple of exceprts from the chat follow below.

Detroit Rock Blog: You were a member of QUIET RIOT at the peak of their success. You were also a member of WHITESNAKE at the peak of their success. How were the two experiences different?

Sarzo: Good question. Very, very different. QUIET RIOT was a band I was a member of from the very beginning. I was member through the Randy Rhoads era and through the "Metal Health" era. And both (versions of) QUIET RIOT struggled to make it to the very very top. We're talking about rejection from record companies even after the album "Metal Health" was completed. We saw rejection from the industry in Los Angeles because nobody thought that record or even that genre of music was going to do anything. We're talking 1982-83. We had that record done in '82 and it was ready to hit the streets in March of 1983. From the moment we finished the record to the moment it was ready to be released by the label, we couldn't find management. So we had to beg our old manager to come back and manage us. Nobody thought the band was going to do anything. So they were different situations, coming from the very, VERY bottom with QUIET RIOT to the very top. Whereas with
WHITESNAKE we went to the peak in the U.S., WHITESNAKE was a very popular band already in Europe, South America, and Asia all the other major markets except for the United States. Matter of fact, WHITESNAKE was the opening act for QUIET RIOT in 1984, which was the last tour that I did with QUIET RIOT, the "Condition Critical" tour. With WHITESNAKE it was different because all of the members had previously tasted success. Tommy with Ozzy, then Pat Travers, and BLACK OAK ARKANSAS. Vivian Campbell with DIO. Adrian Vandenberg with his own band VANDENBERG. And myself. We knew how blessed we were to be in the incredible situation to be playing in WHITESNAKE, because we were all refugees from other situations.

Detroit Rock Blog: Who was more difficult to work for: David Coverdale, Yngwie Malmsteen, or Ozzy Osbourne?

Sarzo: Oh, wow! None of the above. They were all a pleasure to work with. It's funny, because Yngwie had the worst reputation, but he was a sweetheart. Truly professional, truly inspiring. Ozzy was great. David was great.

Detroit Rock Blog: In response to that, several of the people you've played with have reputations for being substance abusing egomaniacs. How is it possible that you have been so successfully working with such a variety of people with "difficult" reputations?

Sarzo: Maybe by the time I got to play with Yngwie, he had changed his attitude. When I was working with him, it was the "Attack" tour 2004. His wife, April, she manages him. She was on the road with us. She was taking care of all the business. And his son, Antonio, was on the tour with us. He was a happy, fulfilled man. He had his family with him on the road. And his band and he was playing his music every night. I can't think of a more rewarding experience than that. He was great.

Detroit Rock Blog: Did Tawny Kitaen ruin WHITESNAKE?

Sarzo: No. I don't think any woman can actually ruin a band. I think the man himself has to be influenced. Look, women are not the only ones that ruin bands. Male influences that can influence a band or certain people. But it's up to the individual whether or not to allow influences from people outside of the band. I didn't think that Tawny or anybody can break up a band. It's like the old saying — "Guns don't kill people, people kill people."

Detroit Rock Blog: With all the bands you've played with over your storied career, which experience has been the most rewarding ?

Sarzo: They're so different. They all have different meanings. Playing with Ozzy, Randy and Tommy [Aldridge]. And Sharon (Osbourne), I learned a lot from her. That was the most incredibly significant because it was the first time. I went from sleeping on a floor to playing with Ozzy Osbourne. It was that journey from the bottom to the very top. Sometimes it's the journey that you remember the most. It's how you got to the top that was the most rewarding. And, again with QUIET RIOT, another journey to the top. Going from opening up for a bunch of bands in 1983 to seeing "Metal Health" go to No. 1 on Billboard. With WHITESNAKE it was different because all of the members had previously tasted success. Tommy with Ozzy, then Pat Ravers, BLACK OAK ARKANSAS. Vivian Campbell with DIO. Adrian Vandenberg with his own band VANDENBERG. And myself. We knew how blessed we were to be in the incredible situation to be playing in WHITESNAKE, because we were all refugees
from other situations.

Chickenfoot begin recording their new album this Friday, but for singer Sammy Hagar, the next 48 hours will feel like an eternity. "I am so ready to make this record," he says. "I'm beyond ready! The songs we've got, the riffs that have been flying around - we're going deep."
According to Hagar, "We've got stuff planned that we never could have dreamed about when we first got together. We're talkin' heavier than ever, bluesier, more emotional - I get goosebumps just thinking about it."
Chickenfoot (which also includes guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony and drummer Chad Smith) will track the album at Hagar's Marin County studio, The Foot Locker, formerly known as Red Rocker. "We did a lot of the first album here," he says, "and we finished up at Skywalker Studios. This time, I'm pretty sure we'll be able to do the whole thing here. Five of songs on the first album were all tracked here, and they're some of my favorites."
Hagar is particularly fond of the drum sounds the live room in The Foot Locker delivers, and he says that recent upgrades to the recording console will result in "drums that will take your head off. I can't wait to hear my man Chad in this place now. We've fine-tuned everything to an unbelievable degree. Unless I'm totally crazy - and, of course, it's been said that I am - nobody's going to say we don't have enough inputs or the board is lacking this or that. This place is built for speed. We're gonna stay here till this sucker's done."
Which won't be very long, the singer believes. "The last record took us about three months," he says, "and I think we'll knock this one out in half that time. We don't have these laborious sessions where we go over every phrase and suck all the energy out of the songs. Everybody is so musically capable in this band that we're able to turn on a dime. We're almost like a jazz band. Somebody says something, and off we go."
Whereas Chickenfoot's gold-certified debut was co-produced with the band by veteran boardsman Andy Johns, this time out Mike Fraser, who mixed that album, will serve as engineer and co-producer with the group. "Andy's great, but he's a little hit and miss," says Hagar. "He kind of wings it. Mike's a different sort of animal. He's more of a control guy, but in a good way. Believe me, this band can get out there with the constant flow of ideas, so we need a guy to reign us in."
Hagar estimates that the band is hitting the studio with four numbers fully written - music and lyrics. Of the 14 or song fragments that Satriani has sent the group over the past few months, the singer says, "I have melody and lyrical ideas to about eight of them. We'll see what all works and what doesn't. The music and the songwriting is so spontaneous in this band. I'm sure that once we all get in the room together, other songs will happen and some will fall by the wayside."
Although Chickenfoot have spent much of 2010 apart (Satriani just wrapped a tour for his most recent solo album, Black Swans And Wormhole Wizards, while Smith has been finishing the Red Hot Chili Peppers' long-awaited next record), Hagar has no reason to doubt that once the four musicians reconvene, sparks will fly. "All I have to do is tell Joe I'm thinking of doing something kind of like Whole Lotta Love, and he'll play me a riff that has that spirit. Then I'll start singing, Chad and Mike will tear into it, and before you know it, we've got a song."
When asked how the new record might differ from its predecessor, Hagar points to a song called Come Closer, which he says is the first time Satriani composed music to the singer's existing lyrics. "Usually, I write words to the musc; this time we did it in reverse, and it's amazing." Hagar also mentions two acoustic numbers that Satriani has been working on. "These things are stone-cold blues," he says. "I'm listening to my Robert Johnson anthologies to get in the proper spirit. What I want to do is get real authentic with the blues like Zeppelin did. I want to take the blues and really rock it out. It's time to 'Zeppelin-ize' our music."
On the subject of a release date, Hagar says it's "a little early to predict that. But I do want to hit the road later this year." One possible kink touring-wise centers around Smith, who will most likely be performing with the Chili Peppers when they release their album in the summer. "It's a conflict," Hagar admits. "But what can you do? Chad is going to make an incredible record with us. If he can't tour we us, we'll have to get a temporary replacement." He names Jason Bonham, Matt Sorum, Vinnie Paul and Abe Laboriel Jr as possible candidates. "Any one of them would be amazing. But like I said, they'd be temporary - I can't stress that enough. Chad Smith is a member of Chickenfoot, and that's that."

WYKKED WYTCH vocalist Ipek will conduct an interview with Philip Anselmo (DOWN, PANTERA, ARSON ANTHEM, SUPERJOINT RITUAL) on the January 27, 2011 edition of "Wytching Hour" show on Metal Messiah Radio between 9:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. (midnight) EST.

You can listen to the program live via the Internet at MetalMessiahRadio.com.

ARSON ANTHEM — the project featuring Anselmo on guitar, Mike IX Williams (EYEHATEGOD) on vocals, Hank Williams III (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ASSJACK) on drums and Collin Yeo (PONYKILLER) on bass — is offering fans the VIP treatment on its current tour, with VIP tickets available for purchase at the box office of each venue or at Ticketmaster. The VIP ticket holders are invited to attend soundcheck, have their photo taken with the band, receive a signed poster, and obtain a VIP laminate. Joining ARSON ANTHEM on the trek are fellow Housecore Records artists HAARP and WARBEAST.

ARSON ANTHEM's full-length debut, "Insecurity Notoriety", was released on October 12, 2010 via Anselmo's Housecore Records.

ARSON ANTHEM was brought together in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with Mike Williams moving into Anselmo's spare apartment after his home and possessions were destroyed. Through this connection, Williams and Anselmo spent time listening to Anselmo's irreplaceable hardcore music collection. The members relived the days of early '80s hardcore bands, such as DISCHARGE, NEGATIVE APPROACH, SHEER TERROR, and many others. It didn't take long for the music to squash their cabin fever, and inspire them to create a new venture that is now ARSON ANTHEM. Anselmo knew of the underrated-yet-unbridled percussion skills that his and Williams' mutual friend Hank Williams III possessed, causing the contact to be made and the band to come together. Finally, bassist Collin Yeo was recruited, and the sound was born.

Veteran Massachusetts metallers MELIAH RAGE have reunited with singer Paul Souza for the recording of a new full-length CD as well as the band's first-ever cover song, a version of ALICE COOPER's "Halo Of Flies". The track will be a bonus cut on the soon-to-be-re-released remix of 2004's "Barely Human", to be titled "Barely Human Remix".

MELIAH RAGE will enter the studio in February to begin recording its next album, "Dead To The World", for a July release.

MELIAH RAGE's original singer Mike Munro has become very dedicated to his church and recently spent time volunteering in Haiti. He subsequently felt these and other missions of goodwill would not allow him the flexibility of schedule to tour with MELIAH RAGE.

Souza recorded two albums with MELIAH RAGE — "Barely Human" and 2006's "The Deep And Dreamless Sleep". In addition, he toured with the band when it supported METAL CHURCH across the U.S. in 2007.

"We feel very fortunate that we have the ability to work with Paul, complete this CD and play some shows," explained MELIAH RAGE founder Anthony Nichols.

Souza was the singer when the band toured with METAL CHURCH across the U.S. in 2007.

Available for the first time in North America as non-imports, SABATON's first four full-length albums will be re-issued by Nuclear Blast on April 14, 2011. 2006's "Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed)" will include five bonus cuts, a demo track plus two cover songs.

A Swedish power metal sextet that specializes in military history, SABATON bassist Pär Sundström shares the following memories of the "Attero Dominatus" recording sessions, the decision to cover DORO's "Für Immer" ("For All Time"), the identity of SVENNE RUBINS, plus some additional information about the bonus tracks:

"For SABATON's second release, we decided once again to work with Tommy Tägtgren. This time we came more prepared and knew more of the sound we were looking for. We were in a rush since we were going on a big European tour right after the recordings — and it was really right after. We left the studio with the final master only one hour before departing to the airport!

"For the bonus material, we chose two of the cover tracks we had already done.

"We were asked by our old friend (and booking agent for Europe) if we wanted to participate on his tribute album to Doro. Of course we wanted to, and we wanted to do a song which nobody would expect us to do, so we made 'Für Immer'. Another cover song is the 'Långa Bollar På Bengt'. It's a famous Swedish song by the band SVENNE RUBINS. They are from our region in Sweden and we did this song actually before we had enough of our own songs. Later it became requested by fans worldwide."

"Attero Dominatus (Re-Armed)" is as follows:

01. Attero Dominatus
02. Nuclear Attack
03. Rise Of Evil
04. In The Name Of God
05. We Burn
06. Angels Calling
07. Back In Control
08. Light In The Black
09. Metal Crüe

Bonus tracks:

10. Für Immer (DORO cover)
11. Långa Bollar På Bengt (SVENNE RUBINS cover)
12. Metal Medley (live in Falun 2008)
13. Nightchild
14. Primo Victoria (demo version)

As previously reported, SABATON has recruited DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq to play guitar on the band's upcoming European tour. He will be filling in for regular SABATON guitarist Rikard Sundén, who "has decided to multiply himself and will have his first kid at this time," according to a statement released by the band.

The group adds, "Of course, it's the highest wish of SABATON to tour with all six members, but this time Rikard wanted to pass and to ensure that the fans that come to these shows will get a good show we wanted to bring in a person with both great musical talent as well as a great stage act together with a chemistry that we know fits in SABATON. We are sure that Frédéric is that person. This is, of course, a temporary situation, Frédéric is still a full member of DRAGONFORCE and Rikard is still the guitar player of SABATON. For the American tour that starts in April, Rikard will be on stage again, ready to rock and a hopefully a bit richer in life."

SABATON's "World War Tour 2011" of Europe is scheduled to kick off on March 3 in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.

The band's fifth album, "Coat Of Arms", sold around 450 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 124 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

According to People.com, POISON frontman Bret Michaels was released from St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona earlier today after he underwent successful surgery two days earlier (January 24) to repair a hole in his heart — a condition he's had since birth, but only recently discovered. Michaels headed home, where he's surrounded by loved ones as he heals, including his new fiancée Kristi Gibson.

According to Reuters, Monday's procedure involved doctors inserting a catheter into Michaels' groin and, aided by cameras, guiding a device into the heart to close the hole.

Hospital officials told Reuters the device is designed to stop abnormal blood flow between the two chambers of the heart.

"Coat Of Arms" was released in Europe on May 21, 2010 via Nuclear Blast Records.
MIKE TRAMP & THE ROCK 'N' ROLL CIRCUZ, the new project led by WHITE LION singer Mike Tramp, will release its second album, "Stand Your Ground", on March 28. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Gotta Get Away", "Alright By Me" and "Don't Let Them Put It On You". The album's cover artwork was created by Karsten Sand and can be seen below.

The self-titled debut from MIKE TRAMP & THE ROCK 'N' ROLL CIRCUZ came out in October 2009. The CD was decribed in a press release as "the most profound musical statement" released to date by Tramp. He stated at the time about the effort, "With this album no stone has been left unturned, no compromises made, this album is complete in every way."

"Mike Tramp & The Rock 'N' Roll Circuz" was released in Denmark via Kick Music/Sony Music and was also made available via MikeTramp.com.

Co-produced in Copenhagen, Denmark with Andersen, "Rock 'N' Roll Circuz"'s title refered to the atmosphere created by Tramp around the band in the studio when recording the album. "It made us visualize this old fallen apart circus," he said. "From there we built certain things into the songs and into the album."

Alternatively subject to passionate controversy or revered as one of the most influential and revolutionary musicians of the past two decades, Tom Gabriel Fischer's creative and intriguingly enigmatic mind has helped shape the face of modern extreme metal. But Fischer's imagination has never been limited solely to music: starting as early as 1983, he began to create the underground art which, for example, would subsequently grace HELLHAMMER's legendary "Triumph Of Death" demo, "Apocalyptic Raids" EP, or "Demon Entrails" album. Moreover, throughout CELTIC FROST's existence, Fischer has been closely involved with all aspects of the band's art direction and visual presentation.

For the very first time, Fischer's art outside of music is now commercially available directly from the artist himself. This web site features Fischer's continuing series of life-size death masks of himself as well as limited-edition signed prints of some of his most dramatic drawings.

Fischer casts each death mask individually by hand from a mold of his face made in New York by Josh Turi (special makeup effects artist), Tom Denier, Jr. (special makeup effects artist), and Eli Livingston (sculptor for, among others, HR Giger). The death masks are cast from concrete and then primed and painted by Fischer using oil, enamel, or acrylic paints. The finished death masks are mounted on anodized black aluminum frames and labeled, numbered, and signed by the artist. No two death masks are thus ever the same, each death mask is a unique and lasting piece of art.

Similarly, the limited edition, large-format prints of Fischer's drawings are also signed and numbered by the artist.

Sometimes some of the most creative music is derived from the combination of artists from different spectrums of the music world. One such band has undoubtedly created a sound for themselves and caught the attention of Century Media Records.

Canadian musician/producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STEVE VAI, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR) will make a new live EP available for free download next week via Century Media Records' web site. More details will be released in the coming days.

Townsend has tapped Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST, BLOODBATH) to mix "Deconstruction" — the third in a series of albums to be made available under THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT moniker. The sessions will take place in late February at Fascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden.

According to Devin, "'Ghost' is the mellowest (by far) and prettiest record I've done so far" with a "very wonderful vibe." It will be released with "the shitstorm that is 'Deconstruction' simultaneously" — possibly in early April.

"Addicted", the second in a series of albums from Townsend to be made available under the THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT moniker, came out in November 2009 and has become the fastest-selling solo record in Devin's career.

New Jersey/Pennsylvania ambient hardcore metal act DELUSIONS has inked a deal with the Raleigh, North Carolina label Tragic Hero Records. The band's Drew Fulk-produced debut full-length, "The Language Barrier", will be released in early summer. According to a press release, the CD "packs 10 crushing songs, each supplied with their own unique groove, texture, and low-tuned striations similar to the likes of FOR THE FALLEN DREAMS, MESHUGGAH, and MISERY SIGNALS. There is a also a noticeable sense of comforting ambiance in each song, characterized to the writing styles of OCEANA (prior years) and OF MACHINES. Vocalist Trevor Gildbride maintains a charisma that will allow fans to separate him from any other multitude of competitive vocalists, taking into additional consideration the raw, distinct tonality of his voice that surely leaves a 'memorable kick' to back of one's head."

DELUSIONS includes four other members, each with a valuable mark and presentation both in the writing process and live performance. Tony Ciaramello and Andrew Lopez on guitar, Christopher Definis on drums, and Brendan Walsh on bass completes the lineup. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are to be credited as their home-town states, and share a beneficial factor on their personalities and motivational attitudes.

Mick Kenney is a highly respected titan of vitriolic underground metal in the form of his legendary band ANAAL NATHRAKH and Brandan Schieppati is best known as the curator of BLEEDING THROUGH, one of the most aggressive and innovative American metal bands in recent memory.

Now these two virtuosos have teamed up to form SUFFER WELL (formerly SORROWS) and the result is a hammer-to-the-skull exercise in guitar coupled with live-wire electronics and topped off with both Schieppati's unmistakable bloody bark and a surprisingly melodic sensibility. The duo has inked a deal with Century Media Records, making sure that this truly epic LP will see a worldwide release in 2011.

"I wanted to stay away from what was 'expected,'" says British native Kenney. "I wanted to create music that broke the rules and could not be described as falling into a particular genre. I wrote this from the heart."

SUFFER WELL is already in rehearsal for what will be a busy touring schedule in 2011 alongside a live band that features former members of EIGHTEEN VISIONS and COMBICHRIST.

"SUFFER WELL has elements from both of our other bands but with its own identity and uniqueness," states Brandan. "I can't wait for people to hear and see what we've created."

Fans have the opportunity to visit the official SUFFER WELL MySpace page for a chance to hear a brand new track, "Treachery", from the upcoming full-length.

VINTERSORG, the Swedish folk metal led by BORKNAGAR frontman Andreas Hedlund (a.k.a. Vintersorg), will release its eighth album, "Jordpuls" (English translation: "Earth's Pulse"), on March 25 via Napalm Records.

According to a press release, "The unrelenting visionary allows this particular album to glimpse back at the past. The result is an imposing symbiosis of traditional and modern elements taken from the Swedes' characteristic sound cosmos. Folk metal anthems meet icy black metal passages and Nordic melodies. The mix delivers multifaceted and memorable songs that carry the mastermind's unique signature.

"The album is completely sung in Swedish and its lyrics borrow from VINTERSORG's past themes: Revolving around man and nature, unique phenomena in the wild, and philosophical observations. DIVINE HERESY bassist Joe Payne has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"With a great amount of thought and consideration, I have decided to leave DIVINE HERESY to pursue my true passion (lead guitar) with my best friends in my band PAIN AFTER DEATH.

"I've had a blast over the past four years playing with DIVINE HERESY and enjoying the laughs, blood, sweat, tears, and brotherhood that comes with being in a touring band.

"It's become painfully clear to me that my passion for this project has been insufficient for quite sometime now. It's not fair to DIVINE HERESY fans, my fellow bandmembers in DIVINE HERESY, or to myself to continue on with this project an not wholeheartedly believe in what we were doing, musically or otherwise.

"I wish nothing but prosperity and happiness to the other members of DIVINE HERESY and am eternally grateful to every single DIVINE HERESY fan around the world who have supported us the years and helped me pay my bills. This shit ain't over for me yet.

"PAIN AFTER DEATH's full-length album will be complete and available very soon.. Go check that shit out and leave feedback. Good or bad. Bring it."

DIVINE HERESY's sophomore album, "Bringer of Plagues", sold around 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 148 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at No. 4 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

DIVINE HERESY's first album, "Bleed The Fifth", opened with 2,700 units back in September 2007.

"Bringer of Plagues" was released in North America on July 28, 2009 via Century Media Records.

Copenhagen, Denmark-based metal/hardcore act PILGRIMZ has entered Dead Rat and Antfarm Studios with producer Jacob Bredahl (ex-HATESPHERE) to begin recording its sophomore album for a summer/fall release via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

Commented vocalist Max Christensen: "We knew that our sound had changed a lot before we went into the studio. We've gone from hardcore with a twist of rock 'n' roll — to rock 'n' roll with a twist of hardcore. It was a guideline we all agreed upon as we felt that we had grown in our expression since the debut album. It was harder to emotionally decipher our own guitar riffs and why should it all be so complex with the recording of [PILGRIMZ' debut album] 'Boar Riders'? 'Just play 3-4 chords that rock and we'll take it from there!' it came from our guitarist after the first new-album rehearsal one year ago...

"Simplicity has been the backbone of the new album — no voc-align/autotunes plug-ins, and no cheating in the production. It should be as vivid as possible and with the imperfections that naturally occur in the studio. Therefore, the choice of producer fell on Jacob Brehdal who despises overproduced bands. He is also an opponent of beat-detective that many metal bands frequently use...

"The new album will be much more in-your-face, dirty, and honest. And many of the tracks features new developments in the form of strings, girl choir and dirty guitar solos, etc.

"We read in a newpaper that guitarist Jacob Binzer from the legendary D-A-D was crazy about our music, so we asked him to guest on a track and luckily he said yes. Furthermore, we have Mort Harder from THE DEFECTORS on guest vocal, which helps to refine our expression even more!"

PILGRIMZ' "Shake-A-Feather" video can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's debut album, "Boar Riders", which was released in Europe in June 2008 via I Scream Records. The CD was recorded with producer Jacob Hansen (HATESPHERE, MNEMIC, ILLDISPOSED, INVOCATOR, RAUNCHY, MAROON) at Hansen studios in Ribe, Denmark and was mixed by Tue Madsen at his Antfarm studios (THE HAUNTED, SICK OF IT ALL, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, CATARACT). Artwork duties were handled by R. Black (MISFITS, BJÖRK).

According to RadarOnline.com, POISON frontman Bret Michaels will be released from St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday after he underwent successful surgery yesterday (Monday, January 24) to repair a hole in his heart — a condition he's had since birth, but only recently discovered. The procedure involved doctors inserting a catheter into Michaels' groin and, aided by cameras, guiding a device into the heart to close the hole, reports Reuters.

Hospital officials told Reuters the device is designed to stop abnormal blood flow between the two chambers of the heart.

Michaels in December said that he was optimistic about the surgery.

"I gotta tell ya, I'm very positive," he said. "I feel positive they're going to do an amazing job. They've done thousands of these operations."

British melodic death metallers THE SOULLESS (formerly IGNOMINIOUS INCARCERATION) have set "Isolated" as the title of their new album, due in April via Earache Records. The CD was recorded at Outhouse Studios in Reading, England with producer John Mitchell (ARCHITECTS, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND, ENTER SHIKARI).

An eight-minute video clip featuring footage from the studio can be viewed below.

Commented THE SOULLESS frontman Andy Wardle: "The [recording] process went really well; we had a lot of fun and we couldn't be much happier with the results."

"The studio video is a brief look into what we got up to. It includes clips of some of the coolest riffs, biggest choruses and key lyrics. Also revealed at the end is a sneak peek at the artwork and album title, plus bonus footage of our mad dancing skills.

"We are now getting ready to tour and have lots of other stuff in the pipeline. Merch designs are coming together and the official video will be shot in February. It should be a killer year for THE SOULLESS!"

A pre-production version of the new THE SOULLESS track "Earthbound" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

Legendary Philadelphia death metal squadron GOREAPHOBIA is putting the finishing touches on its long-anticipated new full-length album, "Apocalyptic Necromancy". The 12-song follow-up to 2009's "Mortal Repulsion" was recorded, mixed and mastered by drummer Jim Roe and marks the recording debut of new guitarist VJS (KULT OV AZAZEL, CRIMSON MOON, DEMONCY).

Comments GOREAPHOBIA guitarist Alex Bouks: "All of us in the GOREAPHOBIA camp are real excited about finishing the new record. The new tunes will once again contain 1000% occult metal nihilism!

"The only way I can describe our new endeavor is that's it's very diverse and takes us back to the band's roots.

"Jim has once again recorded and mixed the record at his home studio, Neanderthal.

"'Apocalyptic Necromancy' also marks the debut of our new guitar player VJS.

"There's a highly positive and magical vibe for the band at the present time.

"For me, this record is a true progression from the song writing and production on 'Mortal Repulsion'. We hope to have it out soon for all our long time and newer fans."

GOREAPHOBIA 2011 is:

Chris Gamble - Vocals/Bass
