just to throw a wrench out there...
i would love to see u2 back in boston (august in feway park show comes to mind) there was rumor of this last year for this year and in the end they could not come to terms and we got j geils and aerosmith
heres the real problem 2 shows at foxboro last year and the second date was not i repeat not sold out!!!!! if you think it was your in denile there were tickets everywhere for the 2nd show this would definetly slow the bean counters (no pun intended bostonians) from having u2 coming back for a third show they got to make money to perform and have a garanteed sell out (the only way at this juncture i would guess would be a special ocasion fly back like they did before (this is where the red sox idea comes into play)
otherwise they would definetly have to be supporting a full blown new material to from there new disc (it all depends of the sales of this record IE# we have to buy it to tell them that we want them back to get our concert juices flowing (this is common sence from their business prospective) and want them in boston again let our wallets do the talking
bottom line:
we must support the new disc with strong sales numbers (no illegal limewire type down load of songs they got to make the moola ) stop cheating people pay up its the only way here
and we need to support the radio airplay of the songs ( request, request, request oh! did i say to say request the radio stations to play the new songs we cannot let the sales be lackluster like the last disc ( get new young fans) into the u2 fold
then we must be patient that they will see we would like them to come back to here to boston

On the plus side, the Cardinals are out of town for a week before and
after that date. On the negative side, I was told last year that the
stage would mean they need to use the dirt part of the stadium for the
fans. The Cardinals have not allowed any concert to use that part of
the field for a concert and that was given the reason U2 did not have
schedule a date last summer. Maybe the Cardinals have changed their
minds about this but, it was clearly stated last summer.
