Anybody else severely disappointed that they have dropped Ultraviolet from
the show? In my view, that may have beent the peak of the show the first time
around, and a welcomed surprise. After all this time, Mysterious Ways, Stuck in
a Moment (not sure if they are doing this again, but felt this way the first
time around on 360 and in view of the DVD) and Still Haven't Found don't
seem/sound as fresh - or at least are so much less exciting to hear in concert -
than some of the vast catalog they have. Songs from Pop, real old stuff that
they've moved away from again. It is odd to me; and i felt this way about the
DVD, too. Don't we have 3 tours worth of DVDs now of shows including Mysterious
Ways, Stuck in a Moment for instance? Their catalog is so vast, and so varied
-- sometimes i am confused by the lack of variation from tour to tour. Even
from one leg of 360 to the next --- they claimed they were trying songs they
hadn't done forever; and yet nothing new has really surfaced other than Hold Me,
Thrill Me (which, to me, isn't an upgrade from Ultraviolet).
As for the new songs --- i haven't been able to really listen to / hear them
yet; but as for most bands, it never seems the best route to play brand new
songs in advance of an album or release, b/c as much as the crowd may eventually
like the song once it has a chance to hear it, you can't sing along, you don't
know what to expect - you end up sitting on your hands a bit trying to make
sense of it all. And then the song is over. I am sure the songs are great,
and maybe will be on this upcoming album - at which point we will get our
listens in and come to love them. It's just that THEN would be the time you
want to hear them live. Not before. I would rather hear Gone, Please, In God's
Country - songs that inexplicably don't make their way around anymore, in favor
of s new/unfamiliar one, or one that, as much as it pains me to say b/c all of
their tunes are great, are a bit overdone at this point. Even casual fans will
have seen this songs multiple times now.
Ok -- that was my little rant. Just some thoughts.
Irie.

The second show of the 2010 U2 360 tour is in the books. U2 played
tonight at Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany. You can see the
full setlist and recap on U2tours.com.

One of the new songs was dropped from tonight's show, while one
oldie returned. REM singer Michael Stipe was in attendance and Bono
sang him a little tribute during one part of the show. If you were
there, you can post a review and/or photos on U2tours.com. If you
weren't there but still want to to chat about the show, try this
thread in @U2's forum. Next concert: Hanover, Germany, on Thursday.
