Not sure. I tend to lump Trans Siberian Orchestra in there, and I think
they are partially from the US.
 
If you're referring to Folk Metal, I have no idea if there is a North
American scene. I know there are some Indian groups around here who
infuse some of their cultural sounds into the mix.
 
The fellow that I'm working with is a recent transplant from
Vancouver, and he informs that the music is available to purchase
there. To see it performed live is usually limited to touring bands
from Scandinavia or local efforts at Renaissance Fairs. Those
performances are usually more true to the original, although there are
times they let their hair down a bit and play with the music.
