I was lucky I suppose, in that I had one of the first stereo cassette recorders anyone had ever seen. I'd just borrow somebodys album and tape it. I had an enormous collection of cassettes. Some still survive today and I've been converting them (mostly live concert things I taped off the radio) to CD

Makes sense to only listen to stuff you like. Nobody can guarantee any group
will strike the right chord with somebody else.

To this day I can't find many redeeming qualities with Crosby Still and
Nash. With Young in the lineup, it is marginally better, but not much...to
my ears.

You took it one step further than me and bought. Based on others opinion I'd
check things out in the store but never bought unless I liked it. Quite a
few bands and artists are listed as great that don;t move me and I like
quite a lot of what is considered crap. Oh well. Never was one to go with
the crowd.
